Has society—and even the church—accidentally traded masculine strength for passivity? In this powerful Father's Day message, we dive deep into "Peter's Masculine Pilgrimage" to discover what true, God-honoring masculinity looks like. Pulling insights from John Eldredge's Wild at Heart, we explore how Jesus didn't call "nice guys" to follow Him; He called messy, passionate, and forceful men to lay hold of the Kingdom of Heaven.By looking at the life of the Apostle Peter, we trace the map that every man must walk—from ambition and brokenness to becoming deep, Spirit-filled, and truly courageous. If you are a man looking for a second chance, or if you're tired of trying to just be a "good boy," this message is for you.

Discover how remembering God's faithfulness in the past can help you trust Him with the present and the future. Watch now and be reminded that patience is active trust in a God who is always working.

Welcome back to Living Hope Church. This week as we continue our series of I Fought The Law, Pastor Bill explores what it means to properly care for God's law in the age of grace. While Jesus fulfilled the ceremonial and civil laws of the Old Testament, God's moral law still reveals His character and points us toward a life of wisdom, holiness, and freedom.Through a powerful look at the story of the woman caught in adultery (John 8), we see the stark contrast between those who misuse God's law to condemn others and Jesus, who uses truth and grace to bring restoration. This message reminds us that God's law was never intended to be a weapon for shame, manipulation, or self-righteousness. Instead, it serves as a gift that reveals our need for a Savior and points us to Christ.Whether you identify more with the brokenness of the woman or the judgment of the Pharisees, the invitation is the same: come to Jesus, receive His grace, embrace His truth, and walk in the freedom He offers.Key Scriptures: Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 5:32-33, John 8:1-11, Deuteronomy 17:6-7, Deuteronomy 22:22#IFoughtTheLaw #LivingHopeChurch #GraceAndTruth #JesusSaves #John8 #ChristianLiving #BiblicalTeaching #GodsLaw #FaithInJesus #LivingHopeWilliamsburgWelcome to Living Hope Church! In this lecture, Sam introduces the closing message in a short series on the Holy Spirit using Galatians 5:22–24, which describes the fruit of the Spirit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.He explains the fruit of the Spirit as evidence of something unseen, comparing it to a pinwheel moved by wind and to other invisible realities such as gravity, electricity, sound, thoughts, and emotions. In each case, the effects are observable even when the source is not directly seen.Sam then places the passage in the context of Paul's letter to the church in Galatia, noting that the church had serious problems. He highlights Paul's warnings against conceit, provoking one another, and jealousy, and connects these behaviors to life that is not led by the Spirit. He emphasizes that the fruit of the Spirit is a single picture of Christian character, not separate achievements to collect one by one. Each trait shapes the whole profile of a life led by the Spirit, and Paul's list serves as a boundary for how believers are to live together. The lecture closes with an invitation to reflect on which of the nine traits may need to be cultivated more fully in each person's life, followed by a prayer asking God to work through the Holy Spirit to develop these qualities and to help believers express them toward one another.
What are you allowing to fill your life? Every person is born with a void that longs to be filled, but too often we look to temporary things for lasting fulfillment. In this powerful message, we explore what it truly means to be filled with the Holy Spirit and why God's presence is the only thing that can satisfy the deepest needs of the human heart.

n Week 4 of our I Fought the Law series, we explore a powerful truth: God's laws were never meant to imprison us—they were designed to protect us. Looking at the teachings of Paul, Peter, James, and John after Jesus' ascension, we discover that the moral standards they repeatedly emphasized were not about legalism, but about living within God's loving guardrails.Using the image of guardrails on a mountain road, this message examines how idolatry, sexual purity, pornography, gossip, slander, anger, and unforgiveness can create openings for the enemy, while obedience to God's Word provides protection and freedom. We also discuss how Christians are called to lovingly engage those who do not yet know Christ—leading with grace, relationship, and the gospel rather than condemnation.Ultimately, this sermon reminds us that the law points to the Lawgiver. God's boundaries are not signs of restriction but expressions of His love, wisdom, and desire to keep His people on the path of life.Key Scriptures: Ephesians 4:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Matthew 5:28, Romans 2:4, Romans 8:1-4, 1 John 1:9#IFoughtTheLaw #LivingHopeChurch #BiblicalTruth #ChristianLiving #GodsGrace #Holiness #Discipleship #FaithInAction #SermonSeries #JesusChristWelcome to Living Hope Church! Do you ever feel underpowered? Do you find yourself frustrated with all kinds of things you can't change about yourself, others, or in the circumstances around you? The Bible teaches we have a power source that's powerful beyond our wildest imagination. It's called the power of the Holy Spirit. What is the nature of that power? And how can we tap into it? That's what we'll discuss this Sunday in the third installment of our in-depth study of the Holy Spirit.
Spirit-Filled: A Way of Life – Part 3 Tools for the Job – Continued The Christian walk isn't meant to be sustained by human effort alone; God provides supernatural tools to strengthen our faith and build up His Church. Pastor Joel Wells continues our Spirit-Filled: A Way of Life series with Part 2 of Tools for the Job, shifting the focus from the "power" gifts of the Spirit to the "vocal" gifts. Together, we'll take a deep, scriptural look at one of the most misunderstood gifts of the Spirit: speaking in tongues. Discover how we can demystify this gift and how it can be understood through God's Word and how it can stir our faith, deepen our relationship with Him, and create an expectation for a fresh encounter with God.

We sit down to process a big Sunday at LifeHouse: baby dedications, taking communion as a gathered church, and a baptism celebration filled with raw, honest testimonies of how Jesus changes real lives. We dig into why baby dedication matters even though it isn't an ordinance, and how it functions as a public commitment for parents and a shared promise from the church family to come alongside them. Then we clarify the two ordinances Jesus gives the church: communion and baptism. Both are symbolic, but never shallow. Communion re-centers us on the cross together, and baptism publicly pictures the gospel, the washing of sin, and the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. We also talk through the tension around children's baptism, why some churches set age limits, and how we try to guard the sacredness of baptism without becoming spiritual gatekeepers. The conversation turns to Acts 2 and Pentecost, where Peter's first sermon shows the “Acts of the Holy Spirit” in motion. We unpack four themes: the Spirit powers the messenger, presents the message through illumination, proclaims the Messiah, and pierces hearts with conviction. That conviction isn't condemnation; it's God's kindness that wounds in order to heal, leading from salvation into real sanctification. If this encouraged you, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find these conversations. In Part 3 of our "I Fought the Law" series, we explore one of the most important themes in the Christian life: repentance. Many people confuse repentance with feeling guilty, being sorry, or facing consequences, but true biblical repentance is much deeper. It is a change of heart that leads to a change of direction—turning away from sin and turning toward God.Through the stories of Cain, King David, Zacchaeus, and the Old Testament scapegoat, we see the difference between worldly sorrow and genuine repentance. Cain regretted the consequences of his actions but never turned back to God. David, after his sin with Bathsheba, humbled himself before the Lord and sought restoration. Zacchaeus demonstrated that true repentance produces visible fruit in a transformed life.We also examine the difference between sonship and fellowship. As believers, our failures do not remove us from God's family, but sin can affect our closeness and intimacy with Him. Through confession and repentance, fellowship is restored, and we experience once again the joy of walking with our Heavenly Father. Most importantly, we discover that Jesus is the fulfillment of everything the Law pointed toward. He became the ultimate sacrifice, carrying away our sin so that we can be forgiven, restored, and brought back into relationship with God.Key Scriptures: Leviticus 16:20-22, Matthew 3:1-3, Genesis 4:6-14, Psalm 51, Luke 19:1-10, 1 John 1:9Main Idea: Repentance is more than saying "I'm sorry." It is turning away from sin and turning toward God, finding forgiveness, restoration, and renewed fellowship through Jesus Christ.Welcome to Living Hope Church! Spirit-filled Friendship | Acts 2:1–6Pentecost was not only the beginning of Spirit-filled power. It was also the beginning of Spirit-filled friendship. In this message, we look at Acts 2 and the powerful connection between the presence of God, the gathering of God's people, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit was poured out while the believers were gathered together in one place, reminding us that there is unique power, authority, and presence when God's people gather in His name. But Spirit-filled community is not the same as perfect community. The early church was filled with awe, generosity, prayer, fellowship, and miracles—but it also faced hypocrisy, division, tension, doctrinal disagreement, and relational conflict. The goal is not to return to an idealized innocence. The goal is to grow into Spirit-filled maturity. This message challenges the fantasy that real Christian community means no disappointment, no conflict, and no difficult people. Instead, Spirit-filled friendship gives us the grace to forgive, the courage to tell the truth, the humility to repent, and the power to keep loving. The death of idealized friendship is often the birth of Spirit-filled friendship. In this message: Why Pentecost reveals the power of gathering How the Holy Spirit works through community Why spiritual gifts are not for us, but through us for others What Acts 2 teaches about healthy Christian fellowship Why idealized community can destroy real community How the Holy Spirit matures us through imperfect people What it means to surrender fantasy and receive real friendship by grace If you have been hurt by church, disappointed in community, or tempted to isolate, this message is an invitation to be filled again with the Spirit and step into mature, grace-filled relationships.Scripture: Acts 2:1–6 Message Title: Spirit-filled Friendship Core theme: The death of idealized friendship is often the birth of Spirit-filled friendship
