What does it mean to be the one? In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach unpack one of the most powerful ideas for Christian men who want to live with faith, walk in purpose, and change the story of their family: becoming the one who breaks the pattern.Using The Matrix as a powerful illustration, Garrett explains how Neo's story points to a deeper biblical truth: most people are living inside patterns they never chose, accepting a reality that keeps them stuck, passive, and in bondage. But when a man wakes up to the truth of Jesus Christ, he is confronted with a decision. Will he keep living the way he always has, or will he become the one who breaks the pattern? This episode is not about being the savior. Jesus is the One who saves. But Christian men are called to represent Him on the earth. That means stepping into courage, taking responsibility, and refusing to pass brokenness, fear, addiction, divorce, anger, passivity, or trauma to the next generation.Nick and Garrett talk through what it looks like to become a pattern breaker in real life. Maybe your family has a history of divorce. Maybe addiction has been normalized. Maybe anger, anxiety, poverty thinking, passivity, or victimhood has been passed down for generations. At some point, one man has to stand up and say, “It stops with me.” That is what it means to be the one. This conversation challenges Christian men to stop living as victims of what happened before them and start living as men of faith who believe God has placed them on the earth for a reason. Your life has purpose. Your family has purpose. Your name can mean something different for the next generation. The episode explores biblical examples of people who became “the one” in their generation, including Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, Ruth, Paul, Peter, John the Baptist, David, Joseph, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Each of them broke a pattern, stepped out in courage, and made a way for others. Nick also shares personally about deciding to change what the Surface family name would mean. Instead of accepting a legacy marked by suicide, divorce, and addiction, he made the decision to build something different for his children and future generations. Garrett connects this to the idea that every man has a role to play in God's story not as the hero replacing Christ, but as a son representing the Father. This episode will challenge you to ask: Where do I need to be the one? Where do I need to stop making excuses?Where do I need to break a pattern?Where do I need to step into courage?Where do I need to live by faith instead of fear?Where do I need to take responsibility for the purpose God has given me?Because your life is not random. You were made for a purpose. And if you are a Christian man, there are people on the other side of your obedience. Be the one who wakes up. Be the one who breaks the pattern. Be the one who changes the story.Get With NuWave Home Lenders By Clicking HereJoin a group of likeminded Impossible Life listeners in our FREE Skool community by clicking here.Get the Purpose Playbook by clicking hereGet the FREE Basic Discipline Training 30 Day Program by clicking hereJoin us in Mindset Mastery by clicking hereIf you're a man that wants real accountability and training to be a leader, click here.Level up your nutrition with IDLife by clicking hereGET IN TOUCHSocial Media - @theimpossiblelifeEmail - info@theimpossible.life

What does it actually mean to become a man of faith? In this powerful episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach break down what it truly looks like for Christian men to develop real faith, walk in purpose, and trust God when life gets difficult. After walking through one of the most intense personal trials of his life — watching his wife fight for her life in the hospital — Nick shares how something crystallized in him: faith isn't something you manufacture… it's something God builds in you over time. This episode explores how Christian men grow into deeper faith and purpose — not through comfort, but through testing, endurance, and surrender to God. Garrett and Nick unpack:What real faith is (and what it is not)Why faith isn't “believing harder”How Christian men develop courage in difficult momentsWhy purpose is revealed through trialsThe role of honor, humility, and obedience in growing faithHow fear and pride quietly destroy faithWhy input — Scripture, prayer, and time with God — builds unshakable confidenceThey also break down three key pillars for becoming a man of faith: Honor — Putting God first and trusting His authorityHeart — Aligning your desires with God's purposeInput — Filling your mind with God's Word consistentlyThe result? A life where faith replaces fear… Purpose replaces confusion… And Christian men become strong, courageous leaders in every area of life. Because the greatest thing that could be said about a man isn't how much he accomplished… It's that he believed God.This episode is a powerful call for Christian men to step into deeper faith, clearer purpose, and a life fully surrendered to God.Get With NuWave Home Lenders By Clicking HereJoin a group of likeminded Impossible Life listeners in our FREE Skool community by clicking here.Get the Purpose Playbook by clicking hereGet the FREE Basic Discipline Training 30 Day Program by clicking hereJoin us in Mindset Mastery by clicking hereIf you're a man that wants real accountability and training to be a leader, click here.Level up your nutrition with IDLife by clicking hereGET IN TOUCHSocial Media - @theimpossiblelifeEmail - info@theimpossible.life

What happens when your faith gets tested in real time? In this powerful episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface, Garrett Unclebach, and their wives set out to run a 50-mile ultra marathon—but what unfolds becomes far more than a physical challenge. It becomes a real-life test of faith, purpose, and what it means to be a Christian man under pressure.Facing brutal heat, exhaustion, and mental fatigue, the group leans into the core principles they've been building: doing hard things, staying mentally strong, and living with purpose. But when one of their own collapses with heat stroke and is rushed to the hospital, everything shifts. Suddenly, the race isn't the hardest part. This episode captures what it looks like when faith isn't just talked about—it's lived. In the middle of uncertainty, fear, and real-life pressure, Nick shares what it means to stand firm as a man of faith, lead with strength, and trust God completely—even when the outcome isn't fully visible. In this episode, you'll learn:Why purpose is revealed in pressure, not comfortHow Christian men are called to lead with strength and faith in difficult momentsThe importance of training your mind and spirit daily before challenges hitWhy doing hard things prepares you for life's real battlesHow to remove fear and stand in certainty and trust in GodWhat it means to truly live as a man of faith when everything is on the lineThis isn't just a story about a race. It's a reminder that your life is preparing you for moments you can't predict—and when those moments come, what's inside you will come out. Because real faith isn't built in comfort. It's revealed in the fire.Get With NuWave Home Lenders By Clicking HereJoin a group of likeminded Impossible Life listeners in our FREE Skool community by clicking here.Get the Purpose Playbook by clicking hereGet the FREE Basic Discipline Training 30 Day Program by clicking hereJoin us in Mindset Mastery by clicking hereIf you're a man that wants real accountability and training to be a leader, click here.Level up your nutrition with IDLife by clicking hereGET IN TOUCHSocial Media - @theimpossiblelifeEmail - info@theimpossible.life

Hebrews 10v35 - 11v6 with Jonny MorrisonChristians often inherit words before they inherit meaning. Over time, essential gospel language becomes distorted, weaponized, moralized, or flattened. In our Lenten series, we're taking time to to slow down, return to Scripture, and recover the life-giving, Jesus-centered meaning of the words we use to describe God, ourselves, and the work of salvation.*The first few seconds of the scripture reading are cut off due to technical difficulties.

What does unwavering faith actually look like when life gets painful, confusing, and far harder than you expected? In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Garrett and Nick break down why faith isn't tested in comfort—it's revealed in adversity.Using stories from Navy SEAL training, endurance sports, Scripture, and real-life leadership, the guys unpack three critical keys to sustaining faith through difficulty. First, they explain why mature men must learn to internalize and process hardship, instead of venting, avoiding, or outsourcing every challenge. Difficulty isn't meant to destroy you. It's raw material meant to be refined. Next, they reveal how timeframe orientation determines whether you quit in the valley or endure to the mountaintop. When men lose faith, it's often because they're operating on the wrong timeline and expecting eternal outcomes on short-term clocks. Finally, the conversation lands on the most decisive factor of all: authority. What you give ultimate authority to—what you trust more than circumstances—will determine whether your faith collapses or becomes unshakable. This episode is a blueprint for men who want to grow stronger, not bitter… resilient, not reactive… and faithful no matter how long the fight lasts.Apply for the Mindset Mastery Scholarship by January 14thJoin a group of likeminded Impossible Life listeners in our FREE Skool community by clicking here.Get the Purpose Playbook by clicking hereGet the FREE Basic Discipline Training 30 Day Program by clicking hereJoin us in Mindset Mastery by clicking hereIf you're a man that wants real accountability and training to be a leader, click here.Level up your nutrition with IDLife by clicking hereGET IN TOUCHSocial Media - @theimpossiblelifeEmail - info@theimpossible.life

In a time where people of color in the United States face new and escalating marginalization, we at Faith Unfiltered thought it timely to re-post this timeless conversation about faith and courage. Join Katie Langston as she interviews Vivian Jenkins-Nelsen, a social worker, scholar, and anti-racism activist from Minneapolis who was awarded the Presidential Volunteer Service Award from Barack Obama. Vivian shares her remarkable faith journey: growing up as the daughter of the only Black Lutheran pastor for miles and miles around, becoming deeply involved in the Civil Rights Movement with Dr. King, doubting her Christian faith, and eventually claiming a place in a faith tradition that did not always welcome her with open arms. This is a compelling story of faith in action, one that you will not want to miss. Listen to more episodes in the Percolating on Faith Series. Download TranscriptThanks for listening to Faith Unfiltered!Follow us on Facebook and Instagram!Intro and Outro music used with permission: “For Everyone Born,” Community of Christ Sings #285. You haven't really trusted God until you've attempted to do something you can't do on your own strength. Hebrews 11 reminds us that faith has always been the mark of God's people. From Abel to Abraham, Rahab to Moses, these men and women risked everything because they believed in the unseen. They did not live for the immediate but for the eternal. These figures exemplify true heroism—living out their faith and making a lasting impact. Modern Heroes: A Contrast: In today's society, we often celebrate heroes who focus on personal gain or media attention rather than long-term impact. This contrast highlights the need for reconnecting with biblical ideals of heroism. The "Vindication Thirst Trap" (Post from Michael Foster - https://x.com/thisisfoster/status/1919125791402848755) Seeking Validation: Like Proverbs 27:1, which warns against seeking wisdom from the wicked, our pursuit of online validation can be seen as trying to fill an empty soul with temporary comforts. The Biblical Perspective: Jesus teaches that true fulfillment comes from trusting in God and living in humility. Galatians 6:3 emphasizes that we should not boast in flesh but seek to bear fruit through the Spirit. Overcoming Emotional Dependency: By fixing our eyes on God and seeking validation through His Word, we can break free from the trap of emotional dependency. The Impact on Individuals & Society Stagnation and Growth: Emotional dependency and distractions can cause individuals to become stuck, focusing on grievances rather than growth. This is akin to being weighed down by anger or bitterness, as noted in Proverbs. The Call to Maturity: The Bible calls us to mature in our faith, walking in integrity and wisdom. It's about dying to ourselves—letting go of sin and self-centeredness—to live in righteousness. The Connection to Transformation Personal Rejuvenation: Transformation involves a inward renewal, as mentioned in 2 Corinthians 3:17. It's about being changed by God's work in us, growing from glory to glory. National Impact: Similarly, national rejuvenation requires a shift from seeking shortcuts to truth to pursuing integrity and faith. The Bible encourages us to pray for our nation's transformation, seeking a spiritual awakening. The Role of Faith Faith as the Foundation: Biblical Christianity underscores the importance of faith in God over human effort or validation. It's through faith that we find integrity and transformation—walking authentically and being changed inwardly by God. --- Connect with The Scalpel: Website: https://scalpeledge.com Email: KFR@scalpeledge.com TruthSocial: @scalpeledge Rumble: @TheScalpel X: @TheScalpelEdge Instagram: @TheScalpelPodcast
