Sponsor: Jon Cunningham, Owner, Cunningham Financial GroupWebsite: www.cunninghamfinancialgroup.com Phone: 205-326-7364I saw a sign recently outside of a church: No Perfect People Allowed. What do you think about that sign? What does it mean? Would you be comfortable with it outside of the place where you worship? There is a powerful and needful message in that sign that should be demonstrated by us in as many ways as we can. It should be sending two messages: how the possible visitor sees themself, and how we see ourselves as the people of God. Are we prefect and they are not? Here's a distinction that matters. We are "perfected" and they are not! "Perfected for all time!" But that isn't about how good we are compared to them - that is about Jesus and how great and perfect and wonderful He is. Come along with me as we look at that sign and talk about it. And then look at church culture and aspects of three different but closely related words: Perfect, Perfected, and Perfection. - Are you more inclined to tell others about what you do that is right, or about Christ?- If someone visited your church from the world, would they feel welcome?- Would they feel like their imperfection is okay and that we are all in that same boat?- How does reliance on Christ to perfect us bring us all together in humility and not pride?- And how does striving to be perfect fit beautifully into all of this if it comes third in line?

Jesus had some very strong words for some people. That's not surprising. The surprising thing is that his strongest words were reserved for the religious community. They lacked an awareness of their own condition while they were quick to judge the condition of others. This prevented them from receiving the gift God had for them, and it prevented others from experiencing it too. Jesus invited everyone to come and experience transformation…everyone except, perfect people.
Preacher: Kirk Miller (CrossWay Milwaukee) Passage: Mark 2:13-17 Primary Claim: Jesus has come, not for those who think they are well, but for those who know they are sick with sin.
This week we tackled the difference between aiming and attaining. Special guest speaker Pastor Luke Bryant from Liverpool One Church joins us from across the pond to continue our series, "Did Jesus Really Mean That".
Everyone is loved by Jesus. Here at Bridgeway, we say that there are no perfect people allowed. We want to be like Jesus and welcome everyone no matter what your past looked like or what mistakes you may have made – you are loved and welcome here. Everyone is in process and none of us will ever be perfect, but we can find joy in the fact that Jesus will love us no matter what.

Hey Friend! I'm going to be honest; today's show is an unusual one. On this week's episode I have an eye-opening conversation with pastor and New York Times best-selling author, John Burke, about his research into the stories of people who have had near-death experiences and how it links to what the Bible teaches about heaven. If you're thinking, “wait a minute…that's weird” I get it. John does, too, which is why he is committed to having scripture inform our view of heaven, first and foremost. And, to ease your mind, even more, you should know that “Imagine Heaven” was endorsed by some of the world's foremost biblical scholars, like JP Moreland, Ph.D. at Biola University (not the same JP as my hubby) and Gary Habermas, Ph.D. department chair at Liberty University. But here's the most important thing: when we understand what the Bible teaches about Heaven it transforms how we relate to God here on Earth! I think you're going to have more than a few “ah-ha” moments as you listen to today's show. I know I did. Heaven is real and God wants us to be prepared to live with Him there forever. xo, Donna John Burke is the founder and lead pastor of Gateway Church, a multi-site church based in Austin, Texas, which has grown to more than 4,500 people since its start in 1998. He is also the president of Gateway Leadership Initiative, a non-profit organization working to help church-planting pastors and ordinary Christians “raise the church out of the culture.” John has authored several books, including No Perfect People Allowed, Soul Revolution, and The New York Times best-seller Imagine Heaven. He and his wife, Kathy, have two young adult children. Marisol Martin shares her fascinating journey about being a young woman, trapped in the rigidity and unattainable perfection of the Catholic church – struggling to find a personal, forgiving relationship with Jesus. After experiencing a visceral connection during worship at a large non-denominational church, Marisol began clashing with her family over the prospects of leaving the Catholic faith. Eventually, Marisol discovers a small, family-sized Christian church that preached a new, even more perfectionist brand of theology. What happens next is both ironically shocking and infinitely inspirational.Find us on Facebook or Instagram to learn more! Want to share your story? Send us an email to stories@doxology.church.
Welcome back to the show. Guys. Today's episode is titled Is Heaven Real, and I can't wait to share it with you. If you have been crushed by life, and you're not sure if there's anything past the physical part of what we can see in the here and now, this episode is for you. We mentioned two authors during the episode. I want to give you that information, one is Lee Strobel, he's written the Case for Christ and the Case for Heaven. His whole career was an investigative journalist. He decided to research the biblical claims about Jesus because his wife became a Christian. His story is incredible because he was not a happy man, when his wife became a Christian. He wasn't planning on that when they got married, but because of that, he began to do some research. Prompted by his investigation, he became a Christian at the age of 29. Lee Strobel is a detailed oriented person who will share exactly how he came to his conclusions. The second author that I mentioned is John Burke. He is a New York times bestselling author of Imagine Heaven. That's the book that I referenced today and it's based on near-death experiences. I have read that book as well as the Case for Heaven, and I was intrigued so much by them. That is where this episode was born from. He also authored No Perfect People Allowed, Soul Revolution and Unshockable Love. As an international speaker, he has been to 20 different countries teaching on leadership and spiritual growth. He started out his investigation as an agnostic. Through that investigation he became a believer in Christ. He is an engineer and has the mind of a scientist. So for him, he had to prove that Jesus and God and Heaven all existed through the lens of science. If that's how your mind works, this book is for you. I will share both of those books and their links in the show notes. And also guys, I have written a book called Finding Hope and Healing in the Midst of Grief. It is based on my spiritual journey after the death of my son, Andrew. It's written in the form of a devotion book because I found my answers in the word of God. I will take you on the spiritual journey that I was taken on to be able to understand and get answers to my questions. I will show you what I learned through the eyes of grief. My guest is Brian Combs. And , I can't wait for you to hear what he has to say. Part 3: No Perfect People AllowedJosh RobertsRomans 3:23-24 MSGFor there is no difference between us and them in this. Since we've compiled this long and sorry record as sinners (both us and them) and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.
On this episode of the Leadership Community Podcast, Jeremy Galanter joins Chris as they break down the new teaching series No Perfect People Allowed, and what they hope the people experience as a result of it. They mention the Spiritual Growth Path in this episode, and if you haven't yet checked out this new resource to help people identify the stage of spiritual growth they are on, check it out at this link: http://vancouverchurch.org/next
SERMON IN A SENTENCE: "Jesus took care of perfection so that we could be free to transform."
As an introduction to the sermon series Frank introduces us to the writer of Matthew. He was a disciple himself and when Jesus called for him to come and follow, he called him out of a misspent life into a life of eternal purpose and divine mission.

God can make things happen you could never make happen. He's already placed abundance in your future. Take the limits off God and ask big.
Life is so much more rewarding when you realize you can be the answer to somebody's prayer. You are a miracle waiting to happen. Many people are praying for a miracle. They're saying, “God, please send me a friend. God, I need help with these children. God, I need a new job. God, I need a breakthrough with my family. God, I need healing in my body.” We have to realize that we can become the miracle other people need. God uses people. He has no hands to heal except through our hands. He has no voice to encourage except through our voice. He has no arms to hug except through our arms.
To reach people the way Jesus does, we need to see them the way He sees them.
Josh Roberts: When we write people off, God writes people in.
