Dr. Bina John is a professor at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music. Dr. John has been an instrumental member of the RPSM Board of Directors since 2013, co-chairing its working group on anti-Black racism and anti-oppression, supporting curriculum development, and much more. RPSM student Stefan is the 2017 Royal Conservatory of Music gold medalist for grade 4 classical guitar! To win the provincial gold medal a student must achieve a minimum "1st Class Honors" standing (80% or higher) on their instrumental examination, and attain the highest mark in Ontario for their grade level. Stefan received a "First Class Honors with Distinction" mark of 91% which also qualifies him to perform at the Gold Medal Recital. RPSM guitar faculty Brad Kukko calls Stefan a "fine soloist and ensemble musician with a natural lyrical quality to his playing". Enjoy this interview with young Stefan and his teacher Brad.
