*** Moderation: Svenja Beller. At the TARDIS Rubbish console this week is Josh, John, Guy, and Adrienne on the occasion of Ncuti Gatwa's first proper season as the 15th Doctor! In this episode we react to the first two episodes: "Space Babies" and "The Devil's Chord." We explore the ambitious concept of talking space babies, Ncuti's infectious enthusiasm, and the subtext surrounding the abortion debate. We also delve into the unsettling performance of Jinx Monsoon as the Maestro and the existential dread it brings to the show. And meta elements take center stage as we theorize about the Doctor's place in the Pantheon, the mysterious "One Who Waits," and the increasing prominence of fourth-wall breaking moments. Listen to today's podcast... It is Blue Monday….the most depressing day of the year. The date was calculated by using many factors, including: weather conditions, debt level, time since Christmas, time since failing our new year's resolutions, low motivational levels and feeling of a need to take action. This isn't a scientifically true formula, but it does point out several things that we already know.  Our stress levels are impacted by many things such as negative weather conditions, lack of finances, unrealistic expectations and unmet goals.  If all of these things come to a head at the same time, it certainly can make for a stressful or depressing time in our life. Take One Action Today To Build Your #Resiliency!      So here are Today's Tips For Building Resiliency and Celebrating Blue Monday: Get outside. Go for a walk.  Even if it is a snowy, winter's day, the benefits of getting a light break, beat staying indoors and moping around. Turn today into a celebration.  Plan special activities at work or going out with friends.  Start planning a vacation.  Even just looking at beautiful vacation pictures has a positive impact on our mood. Know though, that sometimes, it is okay to indulge in the blues.  Wrap up in a cozy blanket, turn on that sappy movie, and let all of your emotions flow out. If you think that you have moved beyond the blues, talk to your doctor.  Seasonal Affective Disorders and Depression are serious and can spiral out of control quickly.  The sooner you do, the better. Oh, hi there, boys and girls. It's Week 11 of the college football season. Carla's voice is just about gone and Crappy is distracted (for the first time this year) by midweek MACtion and his Ohio Bobcats. So, yeah … just your normal week around these parts. Before we get into some interesting stuff coming up this weekend, we look back at some fun results from last week. Clemson had an improbable win. Texas and Ohio State won … but not prettily. Arizona (now CFP ranked) continues to be the team that absolutely no one in the Pac-12 wants to play. LSU really needs a healthy Jayden Daniels. And Bedlam actually was bedlam. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great weekend for our Cornell Big Red Bears, but they have a chance to rebound this Saturday at Dartmouth (1:30 ET, ESPN+).  AJ fills us in on all of the goodness that is late-season #GroupOfFiveAfterDark (and yes, there are some really good matchups on that slate this week), and then we get into this weekend's intrigue, including a massive game that even has Crappy seeing blue (and white). No. 18 Utah at No. 5 Washington (3:30 ET, FOX): That Utah defense is spectacular against the run. Unfortunately, Michael Penix Jr. likes to throw the football. A lot. No. 13 Tennessee at No. 14 Missouri (3:30 ET, CBS): Too close to call? Kinda. Mizzou's been oh-so-close a couple of times this year. Is this the game they get over the hump? No. 9 Ole Miss at No. 2 Georgia (7 ET, ESPN): This might be Georgia's biggest test of the season … before facing Bama in the conference title game, that is.  No. 3 Michigan at No. 10 Penn State (Huge Nude, FOX): Yep. Doing this game out of sequential order because it's that important. Carla's hyper-focused on the Penn State secondary, while Crappy is hoping he doesn't have to figure out the math on a three-way tiebreaker atop the B1G East. Carla gives an honorable mention to West Virginia at No. 17 Oklahoma (7 ET, FOX) because the Sooners are reeling, while USC at No. 6 Oregon (10:30 ET, FOX) should be silly fun if you can stay awake. Also, FIU at MTSU (3:30 ET, ESPN+) is worth noting because our beloved Blue Raiders need a win. Crappy is obviously paying attention to Michigan State at No. 1 Ohio State (7:30 ET, NBC), but mostly because of the Bucks' sweet gray unis.  We close the show with an ode to the Biggest Little Game in America, the DIII rivalry between the Amherst Mammoths and the Williams Ephs that's been played since 1884. Former Draft Day Suit (the original home for this show) editor Kim Daboo is an alum of Williams, and our former colleague Chuck Curti, now of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, had a great article this week about two Pittsburgh-area brothers playing in the game. It's just one of the many reasons we love college football. (Also, go Ephs!) And with that … Carla's going to rest her voice and Crappy's going to root his Bobcats to (spoiler alert!) a win. We'll be back here next week for more as we start nearing the end of the 2023 season. (Can you believe it?) Cheers, yinz.

This episode originally aired February 1, 2022. Amy Ferris writes like a dream. About love. Also: strength, humanity, depression, aging, inspiration, resilience. But mostly about love. It's kind of her thing—a thing that led her to her first gig as a collaborator, a dual memoir from Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons and Justine Simmons called Old School Love. Amy's worked primarily as an essayist, an editor, a screenwriter and playwright. She's even published a young adult novel called A Greater Goode. She made a whole bunch of noise with the publication of her 2009 breakout book, Marrying George Clooney: Confessions from a Midlife Crisis, a wildly funny and yet achingly wistful collection of middle-of-the-night musings on life and death and connectedness. (Don't just take our word for it: The New York Times called it "poignant, free-wheeling, cranky and funny.") The book helped to establish Amy as a voice of her generation and a leading champion of women and women's issues. She is the co-editor of anthology Dancing at the Shame Prom: Sharing the Stories That Kept Us Small, and editor of Shades of Blue: Writers on Depression, Suicide and Feeling Blue, a collection of essays that looked to shine meaningful light on the shadow of depression. She is a founding board member of the Scranton, PA-based Pages & Places Literary Festival, a co-director of the Story Summit Writer's School, and a frequent guest at writer's conferences and workshops all over the world. Follow her on Facebook, where she posts almost daily on the stuff of her life and the human condition. Oh, and love...a whole lotta love. I've been talking to friends and hearing from listeners that a lot of you are pondering life changes–maybe it's because the kids are grown, or just because it's time to switch things up. Or maybe your hand is being forced because you're dealing with some kind of health thing. The common theme I've detected is that it's happening at midlife.  It has also been a time that has been shown time and time again in research studies to be a time when we're our least happy. Yep, there's a U curve of happiness and midlife is the bottom of the U. That's the bad news. The good news is…it goes up! But let's talk about how to feel better about this naturally low point.  This episode sponsored by:  NextEVO – Use promo code BETTER to save 20% off your order of $40 or more AirDoctor – Use promo code BETTER to save up to 39% or $300 Learn more about your ad choices.
