While Einstein wasn't for it, calling it “spooky action at a distance”, quantum entanglement is very much a real thing. Saskia is a year 12 student who enjoys teaching herself about complicated science phenomena, and for this episode of Podcast Next Gen she is investigating the complexities and complications of quantum entanglement. That trip around the quantum world includes a high five at the beach, an Austrian telescope and mind melting physics. Podcast Next Gen is a collaboration between Cosmos Magazine and the National Youth Science Forum. The reporters are year 12 students from across Australia – the next generation of scientists, science journalists and podcasters. These ‘shortcast' episodes have been written and recorded by the students, giving them the opportunity to work with real science journalists and editors to make their science concept come to life.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Web→https://deutschpipapo.com/ IG→ www.instagram.com/deutschpipapo/

Ian Paterson, who became known as the butchering breast surgeon, is currently serving a 20-year jail term after being convicted of 17 counts of wounding with intent and 3 counts of unlawful wounding. Now the Sunday Times has revealed that 27 inquests have been opened as a result of investigating the deaths of 650 of his patients. Nuala speaks to campaigner Debbie Douglas, who was one of Mr Paterson's patients, and the Sunday Times Health Editor Shaun Lintern. Is 'therapy speak' making us selfish? The prescriptive language of the therapist's couch has slowly seeped into everyday life, particularly online where words like ‘boundaries', ‘self-care' and ‘narcissist' are increasingly common. But when it comes to friendships, is the idea of self-care making us give up on them too easily? Sociologist and writer Amy Charlotte Kean talks to Nuala about how our relationships are being affected. In the next in the Woman's Hour Girl's World series, Ena Miller has been talking to three girls in Glasgow, Saskia, Francesca and Olivia all of whom are 13 and 14 years of age. We often talk about girls and their lives on Woman's Hour but we rarely talk to them, so Ena asks them - do they feel listened to? Award-winning playwright and actor Lolita Chakrabarti joins Nuala in the Woman's Hour studio to talk about the new play 'Hamnet'. Maggie O'Farrell's best-selling novel of the same name tells the story of the death of Shakespeare's 11 year old son as she would have us believe it happened. Having sold more than 1.5m copies the story has now moved from paper to stage at the RSC in Stratford Upon Avon thanks to an adaptation by Lolita. She'll tell us why she was so drawn to telling the story of the people around Shakespeare. A new BBC Africa Eye documentary, Uganda's Stolen Innocence, investigates the increasing levels of sexual violence and incest in Uganda, particularly in the North. Documentary producer Nicola Milne and Ugandan lawyer Eunice Lakaraber Latim join Nuala to talk about the lack of faith in the justice system and how the legacy of the insurgency led by Joseph Kony fuelled this issue further.

Listeners, we are back this week with Saskia Sorrosa. Saskia Sorrosa is a proud immigrant, and founder & CEO of Fresh Belies, the first-ever savory kid brand to launch using real ingredients serving “veggies as veggies and fruits as fruits” seasoned with herbs and spices commonly found in Latin American kitchens. Born in Ecuador, Sorrosa moved to the States at seventeen to attend George Washington University. After starting a family, she became hyper aware of the high sugar and high sodium snack choices that permeated grocery shelves. In response to the lack of options and with a desire to raise her children with flavors she grew up enjoying in Ecuador, Saskia created a brand that made healthy eating more authentically flavorful and uniquely delicious: Fresh Bellies. Since 2016 Saskia has grown Fresh Bellies into a national disruptor with Fresh Bellies being ranked among the top 5 natural toddler snacks in the country. Currently the snacks are sold in 5,000 stores throughout the U.S., including retail giants like Target, Sprouts, Walmart and Whole Foods. Fresh Bellies has won Expo East NEXTY Award for Best New Natural Kid's Product, and Saskia graduated from the Stanford Latino Business Action Network (LBAN) cohort! During her 16-year career in consumer marketing she climbed the ladder of corporate America to become the VP of Marketing in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a proud representation of American immigrants and women and, received several industry accolades for her innovation and leadership, including AdAge's 40 Under 40 and Hispanic Lifestyle's “Latina of Influence.” Originally from Guayaquil, Ecuador, Sorrosa currently resides in New York with her husband, Fernando and daughters, Isabella and Alexa Luna.During this episode we talked about: 03:40 - Moving to the US at 1707:21 - “I knew I wanted to make money”08:29 - “I was all about the opportunity”10:50 - Getting into Communications School11:58 - Her talk with the dean & the power of asking12:45 - “Don't answer your own questions”14:13 - Getting her first job after graduating18:56 - “The energy you put out is what you get back”19:27 - Burnout24:32 - Her journey to her own company26:36 - The entrepreneurial itch29:07 - Leaving with nothing29:47 - Timing30:59 - Talking Money: Starting the Company & Getting funds34:49 - “It was really: asking”36:59 - “Entrepreneur is masochism”38:05 - Entrepreneurs and mental health40:20 - “We bring our baggage to these conversations”44:17 - “I know my numbers like the back of my hand” Follow Saskia on all things social:WebsiteInstagramLinkedIn Follow Cafe con Pam on all things socialInstagramFacebookhttp://cafeconpam.com/Join the FREE Cafe con Pam ChallengeJoin our Discord space and let's keep the conversation going!
