Aspiring adults and best friends Kim and Keli share their takes on what’s really important in life; love, career, not being a dick, how to contour, karmic consequences and other hilarious/awkward situations. Join them as they navigate their world with boundless humor and rate everything under the sun including people, places, things, (ya know, nouns) and all the activities. In a nutshell, if you like to laugh, this podcast is for you.
This week is unfortunately full of heartache. We are not having a good time. We could both use some hugs. Pining and grieving for unrequited love, Kim's childhood trauma, and a lot of tears being shed. Being vulnerable is hard, guys. Self care is important and its hard to schedule it in. We talk about Zeus the podcat and Keli has a revelation as to how a fun feed bowls work. Do you want to be sad with us? Tell us your childhood traumas and unrequited loves. After a brief hiatus, we have returned to bring you more laughs and shenanigans! Kim has moved to her new apartment, and she shares some of the happenings there, while Keli gives an update on our podcat, Zeus, and reveals her reasons for needing a break. We both review the fun things we did this summer, and rate two local spots, The Lila Rose, and Taco Daddy @tacodaddyandthelilarose on Instagram. Check them out if you are in Stamford, CT! As a farewell to Kim's home, we decided to record one last time in her bedroom where we first conceived the idea to do our power hour book club. It also happens to be the place where we decided to ultimately turn the video series into a podcast. We discuss Kim's upcoming move and Keli does a tarot reading to help give some insight into how moving day will go. The cards were very generous, so we finish the episode on a higher note than we begin with.
Big changes are happening in our lives this summer, and we take a minute to share all that's going on. Keli gets productive with putting more of her new apartment together, and Kim opens up emotionally around her upcoming move. Since it is one of the top 5 stressors that we experience, it can be hard to leave something you know behind, and start fresh somewhere completely new, with people you've never met. We also ponder the way humans will communicate in the future, and how memes came to be, while discovering we both have a love for Dolly Parton, and remembering Kenny Rogers' restaurant chain. Does anyone else think we won't make it to 2021? Because Kim and Keli both feel like the world is about to end. Whatcha Drinking? This week it's the Pear Elderflower seltzer from Bon Viv that we are all about! Kim tells off an old woman who wasn't minding her own business at Home Goods, and Keli rants about the state healthcare's disorganized system. Finally, I invite Kim to be a commentator for a future DnD session, and our podcat, Zeus, interrupts us with the urge to play. Ya girls took a daycation to get away from all the *gestures wildly* in our hometowns. Mystic, CT had just what we needed: All the lobster, wine, scenic landscapes, records galore, and local shenanigans. Disclaimer, we did not go to Mystic Pizza, as the restaurant is good for a lot of things, but their pizza is mediocre at best. In short, we got a little taste of everything. Abbotts Lobster in The Rough (https://www.abbottslobster.com/) provided a much needed lobster feast that we definitely did not regret. Since we went in the middle of the week, we enjoyed our wine-down Wednesday at Jonathan Edwards Winery (https://www.jedwardswinery.com/), and a sweet treat at the original Mystic Drawbridge Ice Cream (http://www.mysticdrawbridgeicecream.com/). After filling our bellies, we took a stroll down Main St. to take in the local tourist scene, checked out the Army and Navy Store, and bought a ton of records from Mystic Disc (http://mysticdisclp.com/). To end our daycation adventure, we checked out Friar Tuck's Tavern (https://www.friartucksmystic.com/) across from my old haunt, Treehouse at the Oyster Club (http://www.oysterclubct.com/treehouse-at-oc-1). Overall it was a successful trip, and we plan on returning for more soon! This episode is brought to you by Zeus; cat of the hour who is our recording guest, as it was recorded in his domain (aka. Keli's bedroom). In keeping with the theme of different locations to test, this one has a babbling brook ambiance to it. Kim thinks she sees Stanley Tucci and makes Keli stop while they are on a car trip to pick up a pet gate. Sadly, it was not Stanley, but that is hopefully not the end of celeb sightings this summer for these two! We praise Let Go, the app where someone's junk becomes someone else's treasure, and the good vibrations of Keli's new electric bed. Another thing that is on our minds… Is our podcast scaring away potential relationships we might have? Do guys we talk to on dating apps listen and then decide “Nah”? Descript comes into play as Keli has time to learn a new editing style, and Kim talks about her search for a new home. At the end, we take a visit back to dating and technology, and give some updates on where we're at in terms of love. There isn't too much focus this episode, but when are we ever consistent? The best time to record a podcast is definitely right after brunch... Said no one ever. After a hectic week, Keli gushes about her new apartment, and Kim shares her obsession with the new puppy in her life. Also in the top of the pod: we talk briefly about the holiday weekend, and our delicious brunch outing on Sunday. The main event of this episode was to discuss the broadway show, Hamilton, one of Kim's all-time favorites, and Keli's new discovery of this amazing piece of art. There are many homages to other pop/rap/hip hop artists and a lot of little easter eggs that are thrown in that only add to the brilliance of Lin-Manuel Miranda's masterpiece. We'll let you use one of our Disney+ accounts to watch, because that's how good it is.... On a side note, one of the fashion styles we would like to see come back for men are pants tucked into nice riding boots, long waistcoats, and vests. Fellas, let's make it happen. In our next episode we'll (hopefully) have some legit jingles made as well! For our 20th episode, we figured we would take a completely different route, and record our random conversation by the pool on Kim's day off. We talk about a lot of topics; the many uses for a freezer, the true definition of commandeering, and weird noises we make, to begin with. Also on the list of topics - Bees, hornets, and wasps, oh my! In this episode we start the #flippinfabulous trend with our floppy hats, make up some strange voices, discuss how the song “Downtown” has so many “downtowns.” What if 2020 was a glitch in the timeline? What if this year is just a prank by a higher power and it could be removed? These are the things we think about when we're just sitting around; there are some other topics that may or may not include the goal of Candy Land, Keli's new unemployment status, beetles in butts, Pride holiday cards, or human-sized bugs. We talk about our Sign of the Whale and Two Roads outings, and more wasps. For anyone who's confused, we're right there with you. Enjoy this adventure into the unknown, and thank you for listening to us babble for 20 episodes already!!!!! Today's topic: cars and more awareness education. We go off the beaten path on this one, because both of our lives are currently a bit chaotic. Kim gets the runaround from Pep Boys, and Keli gets an attitude from the DMV. Also discussed: Marshall, a movie you need to watch if you haven't yet, the CT budget, how to stop being a part of the problem, and more. It's a shorter one, but it's just as important, so give a listen and remember that this fight isn't over until legit change is made in this country. Black Lives Matter. There's no “if”, “and”, or “but” about it. This week we address the systemic racism that has gone on too long in this country and the world. Black citizens are constantly being beaten, tortured, harassed and murdered by people in positions of power all over the world, in the middle of the night and in broad daylight. If you feel uncomfortable with what we're saying, don't complain to us; instead, we encourage you to educate yourselves and others. Only then can you be an ally, and contribute to change that, quite frankly, is hundreds of years overdue. We'll be continuously sharing resources for you to get involved and learn how to support Black communities, artists, businesses, voices, and other organizations committed to creating permanent change during this movement. Use your privilege and your voice to stand up to injustice. Help push our government and local law enforcement to hold their officers to the same standards they expect from the rest of the people living in this country. “With great power, comes great responsibility.” they need to be responsible for their actions, and if they abuse that power, they should be held accountable, plain and simple. We need justice for our Black brothers and sisters now, and that cannot happen if we don't take action and rip out systemic racism by its roots. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to catch a criminal? Our friend Al hops on the podcast to give us a glimpse at his profession as a bail enforcement agent. He doesn't have his own show like Dog the Bounty Hunter, but he really should. We talk about the process to get into the business, what his experience has been, and he shares some hilarious and entertaining stories from the field. We both learned a lot about bail bonds, creative hiding techniques when on the run, and what not to do if you have a bounty out on you. A very insightful, funny, and eye-opening conversation that you cannot miss! Check out Al's personal Instagram and meme Instagram accounts: @al_pha_af and @memes_of_your_wet_dreams, and his YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/fvurDiFOuhw Also, if you have any interest in getting your pistol permit and need an instructor, he's your man! He'll provide a safe and fun environment for you to learn and be successful in the course. Query of the Week: If you could catch any criminal, in history or currently active, dead or alive, caught or not, who would it be and why? Our responses may surprise you… Whatcha Drinking? Al tells us about his Jameson coffee whiskey, Kim tried a new take on the French 75, and Keli makes up something random with butterscotch schnapps. My Super Sweet 16, throwback TV shows, the complicated and daunting silver monkey from Legends of the Hidden Temple… Kim takes her top off and reveals her demon face, and Keli shares her experience in the Animal Crossing Dark Web. Moral of today's episode is: “Don't DM us personally on Instagram with dick pics”. Just don't do it; we appreciate that you thought of us though! Query of the Week: Would you ever be hypnotized on the podcast? What do you think? Whatcha Drinkin'? This week it's whipped instant coffee, Havana Lights, and a mimosa that tastes nothing like its name. We also both agree that Dippin' Dots belongs in amusement parks, and that we could see more Too Hot To Handle if it had a deeper dive into the workshops for the contestants. NEW LOGO ALERT! Our fresh fruit wheel is up and we love it. Let us know what you think! Two requests from your lovely hosts: 1. Please REVIEW us on Apple Podcasts; this helps us get on the radar and gives us a chance to reach more listeners! 2. Send us your questions!!! Skittles for brains, Compression socks, cats in recovery... These are just a few things we discuss on this episode. Query of the Week: Which fictional hybrid creature would you be? I can tell you right now that we both want to fly, and there is some debate over the true nature of Falkor from The Neverending Story. Whatcha Drinkin'? This week, Kim tells us about her effervescent tropical kombucha drink, and Keli gets extra experimental with some gin and all kinds of crazy shit. More episodes of Too Hot To Handle lead us to change our minds a bit about the show. Did we mention we're going to try to do some Shibari together? We also want to take a moment to thank you all for listening, and ask that if you are still doing so, please please please write a review on iTunes for us. Huge shoutout to Bois & Bar Talk Podcast for their thoughts on our show, and for making our week with their kind words (ya got Kim all teary-eyed!); we're excited to hear more from Rob and Kev! Never underestimate the power of the perfect, most efficient sports bra, as well as panties that make you feel secure when aunt flo comes for a visit. The Query of the Week asks, “What do you do when you want to feel sexy?” Our responses vary, but you can't go wrong with a sexual playlist! Whatcha Drinkin'? involves more gin drinks, a new take on the margarita with sake, and a white russian with peanut butter whiskey. Kim reviews Unorthodox, a new show on Netflix that follows the life of a woman who grows up in the Greek Orthodox Church and leaves to find freedom in Berlin. We also share our thoughts on Midsommar and the message of the film. Last but not least, Too Hot To Handle gets an early review with our initial opinions from the first two episodes. This week, Kim talks about her dumbbell fiasco and Keli gets excited for her new car. Since we enjoy delicious alcoholic libations, we also rate the cocktail concoctions we tried, and come to the conclusion that gin is the best clear liquor for avoiding hangovers. For our new Query of the Week segment (please excuse the terrible harmonizing in the jingle), we were asked to provide separate guest lists for an ideal dinner party with famous people. Spoiler: it's a crazy mix, but well-rounded, and of course Chris Hemsworth is included. We then give our very enthusiastic review of Frozen 2, along with a few song cover snippets done by your lovely hosts, and finally end with an update on dating while in quarantine, and whether or not it's worth the risk of getting the virus to go get laid... *Please excuse the technical difficulty towards the end, as there is a delay in the tracks and it sounds like we're talking over each other sometimes. Want to know which actors (and actresses, we don't discriminate) can GET IT? As part two of our discussion with Holly, we dive into our fantasies as we go over the heartthrobs from our younger days and share how we feel about them now. Also discussed: dad bods, elderly gentlemen who still have that charm, and a few newcomers in their 20s just starting to make our loins quiver… Get ready for some graphic descriptions of how these superstars can get it, and grab some tissues, because it gets a bit steamy! Our friend Holly hops on to review broadway shows with us; the ones we've seen in person and movie adaptations as well. Let's just say that some actors shouldn't be cast in musical movies (looking at you, Russell Crowe). We discover we have very similar tastes, but also some pretty different ones, which made for a fabulous conversation. All of us being theater babies, it was awesome to talk about one of our biggest passions growing up. In short, tune in to hear our favorite shows, and the ones that we aren't fond of (coughCATScough), and let us know what shows you enjoy! We also learn more about the non profit that Holly is a part of that helps artists find vacant venues to showcase their work. 10 episodes!!!!! In honor of the 10th episode, we decided to let you choose the topic of conversation by asking us questions. They were all completely random, but very interesting to answer, so thank you for participating this week! Your queries ranged from types of snacks we prefer, to our favorite fetishes (we discovered ours are pretty much the same; surprise surprise), to advice we would give our younger selves. Once again, things get strange, but a lot of light is shed on our friendship in the process, which is why we're here in the first place. Number nine has arrived, and oh is it an entertaining one. In keeping with the theme of our last episode, we wanted to hear from our listeners, so we asked you to send us your dating horror stories. To say we were extremely satisfied with the content would be an understatement. The most important thing we learned is that we are not alone out there in the dating world, and that people are not always who they say they are. There also may or may not be some extra explicit info in here, so don't share this one with your kids. Hopefully you haven't shared any of these episodes with them, but this one especially. :P Thanks for going on this ride with us! Although technology is supposed to propel us into the future, it seems to hold us back in many aspects of our lives. Especially when it comes to online dating. We dive into this topic (and can honestly talk about it for far longer than we recorded.) And also discuss the origins of marriage and how our morals, standards, and expectations have changed over the course of time and our own lives. Lucky Number 7 coming at ya this week! With all the uncertainty going on globally, we thought you could use a little extra humor. We discuss our unexpected night out, the newest trash TV, and a few reactions to the COVID-19 outbreak. One of the things you'll learn about us, is that we meet MANY different types of people all the time. Wherever we go, there is a new conversation to be had with our neighbors at the bar, or a person sitting next to us in a show. Each of these interactions has an effect on us - sometimes strange, sometimes illuminating. In this instance, we talk about a few various characters Keli met one night while out on the town for Valentine's day, and discuss their stories. We have our first guest! Our lovely friend, Athena, hooked us up with a local course to obtain our pistol permits. You're probably thinking, "who would give these nutty chicks guns?" However, we can assure you that we took it very seriously (the gun handling/safety part anyway), and we learned a ton. This episode is vaguely reminiscent of My Little Pony - Friendship is Magic, except there's more swearing, pettiness, and blunt honesty.
