On today's podcast a really fun songwriter, guitarist, and singer. You have probably seen Jerry Reed in the “Smokey and the Bandits” movies. We played his hit records. “Amos Moses,” “When You're Hot, You're Hot,“ “East Bound and Down” and “She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft),” which was used in the movie “The Bounty Hunter” with Jennifer Aniston. He was a southern boy from Atlanta and he'll tell you the rest of the story. Elvis recorded two songs Jerry wrote, “Guitar Man” and “U.S. Male.” He was asked to play guitar on both sessions. He also does the picking on Presley's hit “Big Boss Man.” Reed has been called one of the most inspirational guitar stylists in the history of country music. I talked with Jerry for a couple minutes at the WOKY pops festival.
Welcome back to Bad Dads Film Review, where this week we're saddling up and riding into the gritty world of Clint Eastwood's 1992 revisionist Western, Unforgiven.Unforgiven is not your typical Western shoot-'em-up. It's a film that questions the myths of the Old West, presenting a tale steeped in moral complexity and the harsh truths of frontier justice. Eastwood directs and stars as William Munny, a notorious outlaw and killer who's left his violent past behind for a quiet life with his children on a farm. But when the promise of a bounty lures him back for one last job, we're taken on a journey that explores themes of redemption, the weight of legacy, and the inescapable nature of one's past. With an outstanding supporting cast, including Morgan Freeman as Ned Logan, Gene Hackman as the brutal Sheriff Little Bill, and Richard Harris as English Bob, the performances are as sharp as the dialogue. The film delves into the psyche of its characters, painting a picture of men who are far removed from the gallant heroes of old Western lore.Unforgiven earned critical acclaim upon its release, securing four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Eastwood. It's a film that dismantled the glamorized image of gunslingers and showed the audience the gritty reality of life in the American West.So Dads, let's talk about the impact of this film, its place in Eastwood's legendary career, and how it redefined the Western genre for modern audiences. And maybe we'll share a few stories about our own unforgiven dad moments along the way.Pull up a stool, pour yourself a whiskey, and let's get ready to revisit the town of Big Whiskey, Wyoming. It's going to be a bumpy, introspective ride on this episode of Bad Dads Film Review.

We will cover Poway Road Canyonization, San Diego Housing Crisis, Micro Units, Vacant Homes, Pt Loma Gay Marriage, Ben Kalasho in El Cajon, Escondido Joor Muffler Man, National City Bike Lanes, Snapdragon Stadium, CA's Flavored Tobacco Ban Backfiring and more! It's Wednesday September 6, 2023. Here's what John Riley thinks: Poway Road Canyonization Powegians are freaking out about all the development along Poway Rd. The 4-story Fairfield development is going in at the site of the former Poway Bowl and thrift stores. A recent letter to the editor said it was the “canyonization” of Poway Rd with tall buildings on either side. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/pomerado-news/opinion/letters-to-the-editor/story/2023-08-29/our-readers-write North Park Micro Units An apartment building in North Park has an innovative approach to helping solve the San Diego Housing Crisis. Their micro units of approx. 600-800 sq ft offer an upgraded, minimalist living environment. The complex has very few parking spaces. They hope residents will use mass transit, bikes, or walking. https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/business/story/2023-08-27/micro-unit-apartment-building-north-park San Diego Vacant Homes Are evil rich people squatting on vacant homes and keeping them off the market? Well, there are 16 million vacant homes in America and only 500,000 homeless. That makes sense in the Rust Belt, but not in San Diego. Less than 1% of housing units are vacant for more than 6 months a year. Even if they were fully occupied it would barely put a dent in the housing crisis. https://sdhc.org/news-release/residential-vacancies-study-published/?fbclid=IwAR0STswGoFGw2zCkLIhpJ1kbuiL4sIFFDiz6mEHo96MDqBveJdJ4LBdbBag https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/opinion/editorials/story/2023-08-11/san-diego-housing-package-gloria-sb-10-homelessness-poverty Pt Loma Gay Marriage A pastor at Point Loma Nazarene University was fired from his post for disagreeing with church doctrine on gay marriage. patreon.com/duhheadsDog the Bounty Hunter is an American reality television series which aired on A&E and chronicled Duane "Dog" Chapman's experiences as a bounty hunter. With a few exceptions, the series took place in Hawaii or Dog's home state of Colorado. On May 21, 2012, A&E canceled the series after eight seasons.[1] The series began airing in syndication on September 16, 2013.[2] Dog and his wife, Beth Chapman, then starred in a spin-off series, Dog and Beth: On the Hunt on CMT, before that series ended in August 2015. On November 14, 2017, A&E announced that they would be airing a two-hour special called Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives. The special aired two weeks later, on November 27, documenting Beth Chapman and her family as she was fighting Stage 4 throat cancer. At the age of 51, she died on June 26, 2019, about a week after having lost consciousness and subsequently being placed in a medically induced coma.[3][4]A second spin-off series, entitled Dog's Most Wanted, premiered in September 2019 on WGN America. A third spin-off series entitled Dog's Unleashed, is currently in production and set to premiere sometime in 2022 on the streaming service Unleashed.[5]

Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we begin a new series on 1991's Eye of the Beholder, from Westwood Studios and published by Strategic Simulations Inc. We set the game in its time before exploring its primary mechanics and the feel of being in this world. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: First level or two Issues covered: knowing who the evil is, tactical top down Gold Box, the opening cutscene, being amazed at how much they get into the Game Boy version of a Metroid game, lots of movie tie-ins, a wide variety of machines, lack of automap, being everything one wanted for a Forgotten Realms nerd, one of the ten games, semi real-time, living inside the depths of Waterdeep, a style of play which continues today, having to rest immediately, gaining information through audio, uncovering the whole map vs racing towards the goal, tournament play, losing is fun, the only way out is through, annotating a later map, interacting with the play space, accessibility and the mouse, contextualization and abstraction in game design, having to throw weapons in the world, how cool the audio is, using items to locate yourself, creating a party, crunchy spells, shout-outs to upcoming work, difficulty in the bosses in Metroid games then and now, games influencing games, getting the green light, justifying the game via the sweet spot of trends, why not just make this a Star Wars game, how green lighting changes with bigger franchises, games that changed our perspectives. A world EXCLUSIVE 40 minute interview with Duane Chapman, aka Dog the Bounty Hunter, and his wife Francie, (specifically talking about the accusations thrown at Dog) after the couples appearance on a Facebook Live show to promote their upcoming appearance at a church in Washington state. Alan Nevins (a past but longtime manager of Duane and Beth Chapman), and his co-host, Joey Santos, had lots of questions for the duo about their remarks, especially since the press promoted his outburst as a "homophobic rant" and a threat against failed Bud Light promoter Dylan Mulvaney. The video went viral hitting news outlets across the country. The co-hosts point out that the person who was inferred in the appearance does not identify as gay but as a transgendered woman. Both podcast hosts have their own annoyances with how the press handled the announcement. The interview gets heated on both sides, especially when talking about Christianity vs. “Hypo-Christianity” and how homosexuality is interpreted by the Christian faith and the various mis-interpretations found in the bible itself. The hosts breakdown the Facebook interview piece by piece so that the audience can understand how Duane and Francie's remarks might have been taken out of context. The “Two Guys” insist that in a world where no one “listens and learns” everyone deserves the chance to at least be heard! Many will find this interview enlightening but certainly will be shocked by what Dog and Francie ultimately say about Dylan Mulvaney and gays. They stand by their faith and are unapologetic for how they want to live their lives and their perspective on the world around them. . Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jonathan Mitchell devised the legal strategy behind SB 8, a near-total ban on abortion in Texas. That legislation pioneered the idea of allowing private citizens to file lawsuits against people they suspected of helping provide access to abortion. Mitchell is also involved in similar efforts by conservative activists in other states. NPR'S Sarah McCammon profiles the Austin, Texas-based attorney. Incompetence is running rampant in our society, and if you don't believe that, this video of a kid nodding off while working at Taco Bell should convince you. Even worse, Jerome Powell, chair of the Federal Reserve, got duped into talking to a fake Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the need to cut jobs to control inflation. Still not convinced? The former head of the CIA, William Burns, met with Jeffrey Epstein three times after he was a known pedophile. His excuse? He wasn't aware of who Jeffrey Epstein was, despite the fact that his literal job is to know things. Last night was the Met Gala, and the freaks in Hollywood did not disappoint. You won't believe what some of these people were wearing! Dog the Bounty Hunter joins the program to give an update on the manhunt for the illegal immigrant who allegedly executed five people in Cleveland, Texas.
