Listener Kevin Tucker seemingly wants to bang him. “The Pussy Posse” is a ridiculous collection of dudes. The stock markets are having a really bad day and week. Donald Trump takes a victory lap. Nancy Pelosi wants Joe Biden to be added to Mount Rushmore. Donald Trump was gifted a Cybertruck and a Rolex for some reason. Music Nepo-Babies: John Fogerty brought his nepo-brats to Pine Knob. Drew activates the Nepo-Baby Alert for Noah Weiland. ROCK ON! There is Journey band drama yet again. Olympic Coverage: Luana Alonso is at the Olympics for the wrong reasons. Simone Biles actually failed at something. Pole Vaulter Holly Bradshaw with an Olympic lowlight. This speed-walking lowlight is NOT from the Olympics, but is still funny. Sha'Carri Richardson only got a silver medal. Flavor Flav is all over the Olympics. Snoop Dogg has won over Marc. Zac Efron is totally fine and not explaining his hospital scare. Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose are officially divorced. She gets nothing. Halle Berry vs Oliver Martinez. DJ Khalid loves ice cream and has the body to show for it. Tom Cruise has yet another new girlfriend. Christopher Scholtes needs to pay more attention to his kids. Judge Joe Brown is going hard on Kamala Harris. Willie Brown hooked Kamala up back in the day and wants his due. Kamala's other ex Phil Bronstein has “no comment”. He once was almost by a Komodo Dragon when he dated Sharon Stone. Leonardo DiCaprio has been stung by a jellyfish. Remember when Rihanna was on My Super Sweet 16? Sammy Davis Jr. once dabbled in the Church of Satan… because of the orgies. Dawn & Cher Hubsher are famously known as the Mother/Daughter duo from My Super Sweet 16 on MTV or s'Mothered on TLC. They talk every day, all day long, so they figured they may as well make a podcast and let you in on their lives behind the camera. You get to see them for a few clips every season, but they want you to know the real them, and they are not holding back. Yes, they are mother and daughter, but they are also best friends. Dawn and Cher will go over how they got this close and give you tools to implement in your own life. They talk about everything, and nothing is off limits. They discuss sex, love, dating, motherhood, marriage, mother/daughter issues, friendships, and so much more. You will hear Dawn give her very motherly advice, or what others call "smothering" advice, and Cher tells it as it is! This week is episode 16 for TPSP, and the slackers celebrate remembering the long list of tragically funny MTV dating reality shows along with fitting for this week the comically cringe "My Super Sweet 16". A spur of the moment Disney movie music bangers discussion, we say goodbye to Cuomo and more of the usual "professional" slackers weekly banter.
Phil, Jake and Jason are joined by new guest Christina to gussy-up the List of Every Damn Thing by ranking the fictional princess Cinderella, the 80s glam-metal band Cinderella, and the hip-hop trailblazer Spinderella. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter and Instagram). You can view the full list at everydamnthing.netSHOW NOTES: RIP to Shock G. of Digital Underground, who died not long before we recorded this episode. Jessica Rabbit is considered to be a Disney Princess by us. The character of Cinderella is so unremarkable in the 1950 Disney movie that they don’t even include her as an ingredient in this official trailer. Charles Perrault, who wrote the Cinderella story best-known in contemporary culture, is pretty much the father of the “fairy tale” genre. His works-- derived from folk stories-- also include Little Red Riding Hood, Puss In Boots and Sleeping Beauty. As we discuss in this episode, Brandy played Cinderella in the 1997 Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella TV movie. Phil didn't mention it but when his wife listens to "The Boy Is Mine" she agrees that the boy is Brandy's. Jake, however, knows the boy is Monica’s. Jason didn’t mention that Drew Barrymore’s air fryer is part of a Wal-Mart Collection. We mention Princess Diana. You can get the Di-themed Beanie Baby for just $50k on eBay. I Was A Rat by Phillip Pullman is just fantastic. Phil recommends it. Songs (and music videos) of Cinderella’s that we discuss include “Don’t Know What You Got Till It’s Gone” (partly shot in Bodie State Historic Park), “Nobody’s Fool”, “Somebody Save Me”, “Shake Me” and “Gypsy Road”. We also discuss their unremarkable deep-cut “Winds of Change” (not to be confused with “Wind of Change” by Scorpions). We engage in a bit of a hot-or-not session with metal guys, including Tom Keifer, Dee Snider, Stephen Pearcy (aka the guy from Ratt),Kevin DuBrow (aka the guy from Quiet Riot), Vince Neil, Brett Micheals, Slash and Jon Bon Jovi. Here's Michael Bivins (of Bell Biv DeVoe) in the video for “Motown Philly” by Boys II Men. Here’s a clip featuring the real voice of Gilbert Gottfried. The video for “Fresh” by Kool & The Gang is maybe the best interpretation of the Cinderella story and features the best K & the G song too. That's not our opinion, that's a fact. This trailer for the 1977 Cinderella erotic fairy tale movie that Phil saw as a kid acknowledges the foot fetish aspect of the story. The poster art for the movie is pretty great. Jake mentions that Salt-N-Pepa make an appearance in Coming 2 America. Spinderella does not. It looks like Hurby “Luv Bug” Azor was, in fact, in a relationship with Salt for a while in the 80’s. Jake should really know who Wendy Williams is. Jack Kirby continues to be Phil's example of someone who did work-for-hire in a creative field and didn't get paid. Jake was wrong: Spinderella is credited as a one of the producers on some of Salt-N-Pepa’s albums. But he was right when he guessed that she’s not even a performer on the album that features “Push It”. Here’s a clip from the Salt-N-Pepa Lifetime movie. We talk about the NWA song “I Ain’t Tha 1” (written and performed by Ice Cube). The lyrics are troublesome, but tame in comparison to some of his later more misogynistic songs. We'll be back with a new episode in 2 weeks. In this ep we ask, “So it’s the greatest movie of all time?” aka Citizen Kane. Then we ask, “What the heck does this have to do with Christopher’s parents on Gilmore Girls?” We dig into interviews and textbooks to discuss why this movie was so groundbreaking, all the random ways this movie connects to our fave TV show, and how many crazy voices we can use to say, “XANADU, XANADU!” You’re the Best/You’re the Worst: Gilmore fights Easter Egg Hunt: How Emily grieves in S1 vs. AYITL Other pop culture we ref: My Super Sweet 16, Hamilton, Arthur, Michael Jackson, La La Land, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Anna Faris

We examine our youngest character ever - DAMIAN WAYNE! Why does Doc want to send the Son of the Bat to the Phantom Zone for treatment? Listen to find out! SHOW NOTES: Intro Thanks to new Mayor Patron Chad from P3! Shoutout to Super Sons - Dan & Jake cover comic books, news, and anything else on their minds Reminder to vote in nominations Background (2:16) Damian Wayne created by Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert in Batman #656 (Sept 2006) Character was originally referenced as the son of Bruce Wayne & Talia al Ghul in Batman: Son of the Demon by Mike Barr and Jerry Bingham in 1987, a non-canonical story Grant Morrison brought the character into canon after Infinite Crisis Damian was the genetically engineered son of Bruce & Talia, born after a night of passion where Bruce was drugged - the drugging wasn’t supposed to stick, but later writers reaffirmed it, much to Ariel’s chagrin He was raised by Talia and the League of Assassins to be an incredible fighter - at the age of 13, he was left with Batman Due to his upbringing, he has no social skills, and believes the only way to earn his father’s respect is to kill any rival - this puts him in immediate conflict with Tim Drake, operating as Robin at the time After Bruce’s death, in the Battle for the Cowl Damian acts more childish, until he is corrected by Dick Grayson, who assumes the Batman mantle and asks Damian to serve as his Robin After a battle, Damian is paralyzed - he is healed by Talia, who implants a device in his spine which allows her to control his movements - he and Dick manage to undo the damage He is later disowned by Talia, who feels his acceptance of the Robin mantle is disrespectful to her and her family legacy After Bruce’s resurrection, Damian continues working alongside Dick, and joins the Teen Titans New 52 - Still working as Robin, this time alongside Bruce, while Dick is Nightwing again Killed by an adult clone of him created by Talia - after many battles to retrieve his corpse, Bruce finally resurrects Damian with the Chaos Shard, a stone controlled by Darkseid - the resurrection gives him superhuman strength for a brief period Rebirth - serves as leader of the Teen Titans Supersons - works alongside Jonathan Kent, aka Superboy - they do NOT get along well Issues (8:06) Petulant Child Split Family child rearing (16:36) First exposure to different viewpoints (26:19) Break (39:26) Plugs for Parent Quest, Perfect Package Podcast, and Meredith Finch Treatment (41:40) In-universe - send Damian and clones of the Bat-family to the Phantom Zone to hash things out Out of universe - use of “I am” statements to get person to examine self (44:08) Skit (52:46) Ending (57:07) Recommended reading: New 52 Batman & Robin, Super Sons by Peter Tomasi Next episodes: Apocalypse, Baphomet, and Quipping Review read: Batdan22 - Fan For Life I enjoy the way they tackle pop culture on this show. Hosts are fun and engaging, topics are right up my alley. Just a lot of fun being had by those who make it and those who listen. On this Episode I had the pleasure of speaking with Lynn K. Hobson, one of NYC's sort after Hip-Hop artists publicist. Hailing from Washington, DC, Lynn started her career as a Publicist in 1995 while interning at The Terrie Williams Agency in New York City. After leaving the Terrie Williams Agency, Hobson was hired as the Director of Publicity for Undeas/Untertainment Records via Epic/Sony Records where she launched the careers of artists such as Cam’Ron, Charli Baltimore, and Junior Mafia. Bit by the entrepreneur bug, In 2000, Lynn opened the doors to her own boutique PR firm, HobbieCom. There she worked with the likes of Sister Souljah; Mike Tyson, Grammy Award winning music producers Bryan-Michael Cox and Rockwilder, Gucci Mane, Rasheedah, Khia, DipSet, and more. From 2006-2009, Ms. Hobson produced episodes of “My Super Sweet 16” which aired on MTV while still operating an an independent publicist. In 2015, she wrote and self published her first book, “Diary of A Hip-Hop Publicist”. This book commemorates her twenty (20) years as a Publicist within the entertainment industry. A Broad is a woman who lives by her own rules. Broads You Should Know is the podcast about the Broads who helped shape our world. This week, Justin brings us the story of Jennifer Nelson: the documentary filmmaker who sued Warner Chappell over their claim of ownership over the song "Happy Birthday."Jennifer Nelson was working on My Super Sweet 16 when she decided to make a documentary about the origin of the song Happy Birthday. When she discovered that The Hill Sisters in Kentucky had written the song in the 1800s, but Warner hadn't filed a copyright claim until 1935, it seemed odd that she had to pay Warner Chappell to use a song she knew they hadn't paid the Hills for. What started as a documentary became a campaign to free the song from a company that was making $2M a year on royalties. Broads You Should Know is Hosted by Sam Eggers, Sara Gorsky, & Justin Xavier. Tweet LIVE this Sunday, May 6th at 635pm Small Bites with Glenn Gross and Derek Timm of Bluejeanfood.com on Wildfire Radio with Cinco de Mayo! on most Americans minds this weekend, we are happy to welcome Chef Eddie Hernandez who was born in Monterrey, Mexico and is the executive chef of Taqueria del Sol. He and his business partner, Mike Klank , were nominated for a 2017 James Beard Foundation Outstanding Restaurateur Award. His recipes have appeared in Bon Appétit Magazine, Food & Wine, Southern Living, and Garden & Gun Magazine. He joins us to talk about his new cookbook “Turnip Greens & Tortillas: A Mexican Chef Spices Up the Southern Kitchen” from Rux Martin and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt written with Susan Puckett. USA TODAY called Taqueria del Sol “a runaway success.” Bon Appétit wrote: “Move over, Chipotle!” The fast-casual food of Eddie Hernandez, the James Beard-nominated chef/co-owner of the restaurant, lands on the commonalities of Southern and Mexican food, with dishes like Memphis barbecue pork tacos, chicken pot pie served in a “bowl” of a puffed tortilla, turnip greens in “pot likker” spiked with chiles, or the “Eddie Palmer,” sweet tea with a jab of tequila. Eddie never hesitates to break with purists to make food taste better, adding sugar to creamy grits to balance the jalapeños, or substituting tomatillos in fried green tomatoes for a more delicate texture. Throughout, “Eddie's Way” sidebars show how to make each dish even more special. What a treat! Then coming on the show will be Ray Sheehan the Event Organizer of the 2nd Annual Philadelphia All Star Craft Beer & Wine Festival at Citizens Bank Park. After a sell-out crowd last year, thousands of beer enthusiasts and wine lovers will return to Citizens Bank Park on May 19, 2018 for the The Philly All-Star Craft Beer, Wine, and Cocktail Festival.
