Welcome to August 12th, 2022 on the National Day Calendar. Today we celebrate rocking the world and rocking around the clock. What do Abraham Lincoln, Walt Disney, and Thor have in common? Go ahead. Take a second to think about it. Give up? They're all middle children. Well, not the actual Thor. It's Chris Hemsworth—the actor who plays him. And oddly enough, so is Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki right beside him. Middle children are often ignored while their parents lavish attention on their older and younger siblings. As a result, many of them seek attention from other sources…and that can push them onto bigger and better things. So if you're the sibling stuck in the middle of the pecking order, National Middle Child Day is the perfect time to put your stamp on the world. If you're still hanging on to a collection of vinyl records, you are not alone. While you may catch some grief from family and friends over these dusty old relics from the past, vinyl record sales are on the rise. The largest collection contains more than one million LPs. Fans know they are much more valuable than the CDs they replaced. For audiophiles, there is no better sound than the distinct quality of a classic vintage record, and if you're a collector you probably know that five of the top ten most expensive vinyls ever produced came from the Beatles. The White Album alone fetched a whopping 790,000 dollars. On National Vinyl Record Day give your records a spin and celebrate a sound that still makes you rock around the clock. For this episode we're back in the MCU, talking about the latest movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Bringing back writer/director Taika Waititi, the movie sees Chris Hemsworth's Thor reuniting with his ex-girlfriend played by Natalie Portman and other characters from the previous films, as they face off against Gorr the God Butcher, portrayed by Christain Bale. ATMI producers Madison Knutson, Ormund Alaois, and Logan Smith got together on Zoom to discuss how it compares to other Thor movies, the brand of comedy that Waititi brings to it, and whether or not this is the character that deserved four standalone features. Hosted by Zinn Rogers. Music by Kendrick Whiteman. Alaska Teen Media Institute is based in Anchorage, Alaska. We would like to acknowledge the Dena'ina people, whose land we work on. Many thanks to supporters of our podcast, including Alaska State Council on the Arts. The views expressed in this program do not necessarily represent the views of our sponsors.

Topics include COVID-19 (ever heard of it?), allergies, outer space, Elon Musk, anosmia, Roe v. Wade (kind of), the prison wives of TikTok, HBO Max, public libraries, math, high heels & average-sized men, and Chris Hemsworth's meat sandwich. Plus, a 2005 Cosmo prepares you for when your boyfriend drops a BOMBSHELL. And finally, we honor three cliche tattoos by playing F**k/Marry/Kill with them. This episode is dedicated to Paulie Walnuts aka Tony Sirico.
The internet is buzzing with the question of which Chris is the best Chris. Chris Pratt, Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth all have new projects out and Annie argues that the Chris who's project is having success is the best Chris.
Yep, we're going lexical again in a very practical episode with the lovely fellow Brit and Friend of the Podcast, Harry Waters, of Renewable English fame. We play lexical ping-pong with chunks of grammar that we think your students will find very useful to build natural spoken English. Of all the actors who had to pack on mass for a movie, few in recent memory have taken to the task with such zeal, and notable success, as Chris Hemsworth when he landed the part of Thor. In this episode, we break down exactly how Chris Hemsworth trained for his part in the role and share how you can too.

In season 2 episode 24 of Champion Casters, Michael and Joe find love. . . and some thunder in the newest Thor movie. There are two Thor's in this movie so really there's twice the love and twice the thunder, but that's neither here nor there. Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman are back, both as Thor's looking to rekindle their lightning. This movie is no Thor: Ragnarok, but with Taika Waititi at the helm again, there's still some great humor and heart in this film--more than some people are giving it credit for. Tune in for Michael and Joe to fight for Love. . . yeah and Thunder. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/championcasters/message

This week all Three of the boys are back! That's Right Brooksy aka Papa Palpatine has returned to us just in time to talk about the wild ride that Taika Waititi brought us on in Thor: Love and Thunder. Needless to say they are a bit punchy from not being able to get back together until now. Along the way there are a plethora of other things discussed such as Robot Chicken and Family Guy Star Wars specials, new things being uploaded to Disney Plus, and a whole bunch of inappropriate comments.
What's that noise? Do you hear that? It sounds like more MCU content to me! That's right, this week, the boys dig into Taiki Waititi's Thor: Love and Thunder and the Disney Plus series, Ms. Marvel! How many of Chris Hemsworth's family members are in Thor 4? How much did he have to eat to get so huge? What comic book references can be found throughout Ms. Marvel? And between the two MCU topics, which did you like more? Whichever your preference is, grab your screaming goats, your magical bengals, and get ready for some good old Marvel content!
Welcome to Right on Cue, the podcast where we interview film, TV, and video game composers about the origins and nuances of their latest works and select commentaries from some of the score's most important tracks. Today, we're talking about Spiderhead, the Netflix Original Movie that premiered last month, starring Chris Hemsworth and Miles Teller, directed by Joseph Kosinski (who's already flying high this year with the whirlwind success of Top Gun: Maverick). But where Maverick is all massive, big-screen spectacle and Tom Cruise at the literal height -- or, rather, altitude -- of his powers, Spiderhead feels more akin to the kinds of thinky, patient sci-fi spectacle Kosinski is known for. It's an eerie, unsettling film, with a suitably quirky score to match, courtesy of Kosinski stalwart Joseph Trapanese. The composer is no stranger to this show, having discussed his score for Netflix's fantasy series Shadow and Bone with us, and he's been busy since, taking over for season 2 of Netflix's The Witcher, Prisoners of the Ghostland, Project Power, and more. Now he's returned to the show to discuss the delicate balance of haunting vocals and electronic elements that make up his minimalist score for Spiderhead and how they weave throughout the film's yacht-rock-heavy soundtrack. After the interview, Joe talks us through some track commentaries from the score. You can find Joseph Trapanese at his official website here. Spiderhead is currently streaming on Netflix, and you can listen to the score on your preferred music streaming service courtesy of Maisie Music Publishing.
Eveyone is talking about the new trailers out of comic-con, well, everyone except Madi and Jeremy. In this episode Madi and Jeremy chat about other films the original six Avengers actors have been in but mostly it's all an excuse to discuss the movie, Chef, written, directed and staring Jon Favreau

On this episode of Nick Nack Goes To The Movies, we have another mixed bag of horror and super hero content. And likewise, the mix not only includes genres, albeit ones you loyal listeners are super familiar with, the blend of scares and supes. The big mix is once again expectations. A big budget MCU movie, the juggernaut of movies and now shows with Disney Plus, versus a short story adaptation with one name brand actor to that movie's roster. Ethan Hawke is a fine actor, but it would be tough to take him over Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Russell Crowe, Christian Bale, and so many more! But through the entirety of this podcast episode, let us look and examine the differences and interest levels and execution of both these movies and see which reigns supreme. Will you answer the call of The Black Phone, or can lighting and thunder strike twice? Let me know your take on social at @NickNackMovies or @NickNack_IC on Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Letterboxd.

Thor Odinson makes his triumphant return to the MCU with the franchise's latest installment, Thor: Love and Thunder, once again starring Chris Hemsworth in the titular role alongside Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, and writer-director Taika Waititi. Waititi's co-writer, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, discusses the process of landing her first Marvel gig: “My journey with Marvel has been long; I pitched on Black Widow, I pitched on Hawkeye, I pitched on Captain Marvel 2, so I pitched on several different films. Kevin [Feige] is so specific and such a genius when it comes to putting the right person on the right project… and Kevin was like, ‘This is not the right thing for you, but we're going to put you on Thor...' and then a week later, I was in a room with Brad [Winderbaum] and Taika talking about the lore and coming onto the project.” Robinson goes on to share the importance of pushing yourself and not being afraid to make mistakes: "Don't let the fear of the thing being bad or wrong or weird get in the way of you doing it... If you mess up, if you fail like I've failed, it's fine... you just have to blindly believe in yourself because no one is going to care about you as much as you. No one is going to believe in you as much as you." Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters. Don't forget to subscribe to the Write On Podcast on iTunes! Now available on Google Podcasts!

On Cock & Bull today, we are joined by Navin Noronha, Abbas Momin & Kajol Srinivasan. Today, Cyrus is ranting about a driverless truck parked in front of his building because of which he could not get his car inside, which ultimately could've led to him being late for the podcast. 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman was something of a surprise hit, so it's no surprise that Universal Studios ordered a sequel. Unfortunately by the time 2016 rolled around both director Rupert Sanders and star Kristen Stewart were off on other projects, leaving Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron to shoulder the film along with newcomers Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt, resulting in an icy reception. Join Sebastian and Jennifer as they consult the magic mirror to determine why The Huntsman: Winter's War failed to be a box office fairy tale.
