Happy Halloween! On the seventh anniversary show, Thaddeus and Chauncey react to the Dodgers rebounding in game six and recap their glass case of emotions throughout the series. Later, they look at the Rams' schedule post-bye and how the Roger Creary trade can impact the defense. Thaddeus is giddy over the Aidan Hutchinson extension and the guys preview the rest of the week nine action. Finally, they share what they watched including "The Lowdown", "Mare of Easttown", "Dancing with the Stars", "WWE Raw",. Mysteries at Midnight - Mystery Stories read in the soothing style of a bedtime story
For Halloween, I am reading The Monkey's paw by, W. W. Jacobs. A classic chilling horror story of unintended consequences and the cautionary tale of being careful what you wish for. Written in Harper's Magazine Written in 1902 and featured in Harper's Magazine, it is one of the classics of the genre, and even had the honour of being parodied in the Treehouse of Horror series on The Simpsons. This week on Mommywood, I got to sit down with the incredible Kaitlin Becker — you probably know her as Meekah from the Blippi world. Kaitlin's story is such a ride — she started out in musical theater in New York, somehow found herself in children's programming, and ended up as part of this huge franchise that parents and kids everywhere know.We talked about everything — from how that all started to what it's been like stepping away from Mika to focus on her son Everett, who's now eight and hitting that big kid stage. She was so honest about co-parenting, traveling for work, the financial side of being a single mom, and the pressure to stay “on” when people recognize you from your kids' favorite show. It's real, it's funny, and it's such a reminder that even when it looks like someone has it all figured out — they're probably just doing their best, like the rest of us.
Ryan Carson (ex-Treehouse, Intel; now Builder-in-Residence at Sourcegraph's AMP) shares his origin story and a practical playbook for shipping software with AI agents. We cover why “tokens aren't cheap,” how AMP made pro-level coding free via developer ads, a concrete workflow (PRD → atomic dev tasks → agent execution with self-tests), and why managers should spend time as ICs “managing AI.” We close with advice for raising AI-native kids and a perspective on this moment in tech (think integrated circuit–level shift).Timestamps00:00 – The beginning of intelligence: how LLMs changed Ryan's view of computing00:23 – Apple IIe → Turbo Pascal → Computer Science: the maker bug bites03:20 – DropSend: early SaaS, Dropbox name clash, first acquisition04:30 – Treehouse: teaching coding without a CS degree; $20M raised, acquired in 202105:02 – The “bigger than a computer” moment: discovering LLMs06:15 – Joining Intel: learning GPUs and the scale of silicon (“my adult internship”)07:09 – Building an AI divorce assistant → joining AMP as Builder-in-Residence09:38 – AMP vs ChatGPT/Claude/Cursor: agentic coding with contextual developer ads11:09 – Token economics: why AI isn't really cheap17:27 – Frontier vs Flash models (Sonnet 4.5 vs Gemini 2.5) — how costs scale21:31 – Private startup: vertical AI for specialized domains22:36 – The new wave of small, vertical AI businesses23:01 – Live demo: building a news app end-to-end with AMP28:18 – How to plan like a pro: write the PRD before you build30:02 – “Outsource the work, not your thinking.”32:28 – Turning PRDs into atomic tasks (1.0, 1.1…)35:50 – Competing in an AI world = planning well36:28 – Managers should schedule IC time to “manage AI”37:14 – Designing feedback loops so agents can test themselves39:47 – “AI lied to me”: why verifiable tests matter41:11 – Raising AI-native kids: build trust, context, and agency43:59 – “We're living in the integrated circuit moment of intelligence.”Tools & Technologies MentionedAMP (Sourcegraph) – Agentic coding tool/IDE copilot that plans, edits, and ships code. Adam and Nate are joined by film critic Norm Wilner to revisit I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and its parody in “Treehouse of Horror X” (S11E4), one of the most movie parody-packed episodes of The Simpsons ever. Does Norm still agree with his pull quote on every home release of this movie that says it's “a pure fright machine [that] scares the hell out of you”? (Did he ever?)Also in this episode:• Screenwriter Kevin Williamson's meta impact on pop culture• Does this movie work better as a ghost movie or a whodunnit? • Norm's theory about the deep cut reference behind werewolf Flanders• Could the recent legasequel be an improvement on the original?Plus, check out our show notes for a complete list of Simpsons references, double feature suggestions, and further readingNext time, we'll be nursing our Halloween hangover with a little horror hair of the dog. Simpsons writer Dan Vebber joins us to talk about his incredibly ambitious episode “Thanksgiving of Horror” (S31E8) and its parody of Alien (1979). Thaddeus and Chauncey react to an absolutely awful game one of The World Series and breakdown the Dodgers bullpen meltdown. They try to figure out how the Dodgers can move forward and how despite an otherworldly NLCS game 4 Ohtani needs to step up. Later, they recap week 7 of the NFL including the Rams dominance over the Jags, the super competitive NFC West, the scary Lions, and the resilient Chargers. The guys then preview a pretty fallow week 8 slate of game. Chauncey is over the moon over Luka Doncic through two games despite the awful Lakers defense and he also discusses the Chauncey Billups gambling scandal. Afterwards, they dive into the "GenV" finale and where "The Boys" franchise can go from here. They also review trailers for "The Running Man" and "Send Help" before eulogizing Ace Frehely, Drew Struzan, D'Angelo, and Diane Keaton. Finally, they share what they watched this week including "Slow Horses", "Only Murder in the Building", "WWE Raw", "The Lowdown", "Bob's Burgers", "Treehouse of Horror", "Nancy & Beth", the season finale of "Task", "High Potential", and more.LA PODFIDENTIAL is part of the LAFB PODCAST NETWORKFollow us on Bluesky: @bigchaunc64.bsky.social, on Insta: @bigchaunc64, and on Letterboxd: ChaunceyT Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Hey Gang!On tonight's episode, we celebrate 25 years of Treehouse of Horror as I watch Treehouse of Horror 25!- Flicks-ology!
We're almost to the end of our Spooky Season series where we examine every entry in the Final Destination franchise. The fifth installment was in many ways a reset. It started with fresh characters, tested out some new kill techniques, and even expanded the mythology of the franchise in ways the previous films hadn't. It had other surprises in store by the time it was over, which made it a remarkably invigorating conclusion (temporarily) to the franchise. Prior to this year's release of Bloodlines, FINAL DESTINATION 5 was the franchise's coda, and a pretty solid one at that. We're joined this week by pastor and friend of the show Fr Josh Bowron to dive a bit deeper into the metaphysical and theological ramifications of these elaborately conceived deaths. The result is a discussion not only littered with our usual frivolity and fun but also surprisingly contemplative and as thoughtful as we always try to be.Also featuring a Patron-only segment discussing THE SIMPSONS Treehouse of Horror XX, this is a conversation we're very proud of and one we really hope you enjoy.Patron Only Segment: The Simpsons, Treehouse of Horror XX6:43 - FINAL DESTINATION 5See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The fourth installment in the Final Destination franchise slapped an article at the top of the title, threw some 3-D special effects at the wall, and largely dismissed virtually every sensible aspect of quality filmmaking. It's rescued (barely) by some genuinely memorable death sequences in an otherwise aggressively skippable installment. But we did not skip it! Instead, we gathered friend of the show Paula Deming and new friend of the show "Professor" Meg Oak to chat about it -- neither of whom had ever seen a Final Destination film before. It was an uproariously grand time filled with laughter, head-scratching film notes, and an absurd amount of references to THAT scene in the film. In the midst of all the rampant frivolity, there are even a few moments of earnest and thoughtful reflection about the nature of death when it comes to questions of consequence for abhorrent behavior. Also featuring a brief stint with The Simpsons, Treehouse of Horror XIX, this is a hearty and vibrant episode that we really hope you enjoy!7:58 - Debriefing Gen Con with Paula Deming and Meg Oak13:46 - Business Time -- FOGOWEEN!Patron Only Segment: The Simpsons, Treehouse of Horror XIX18:27 - Two Questions with Meg Oak28:40 - THE FINAL DESTINATIONSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
