Jonesin' is a podcast for relating secular things to Christ. Because God is amazing He uses a lot of things outside the "christianize" world and I love exploring it and seeing God use these things to help me grow and learn and its usually in ways I never expect. This first season is about improv (ac…
In improv we talk a lot about active listening and it has been able to seep into my life and show me how passively I have been listening to others. But being committed in conversations doesn't always mean we have to speak a lot of what people are looking for is a listening ear and that elevates our relationships.
Trusting people isn't natural a lot of times it is against our very nature so much so that we end up questioning peoples motives and if we can really rely on them. But like Ruth and Naomi we too can find the beauty in trusting another person seeing the fruit of that. Even more so we can see it with God every time we trust Him with something and He shows up to deliver.
It is a hard time getting out of our heads. So we stay stuck because we are focused on the past or future rather than the present. This rings true for me. Getting in my head blocks me of what God has for me and allows for stubbornness. It's so freeing when we stop planning our perfect lives and focus on the present. And how do we focus on the present? By focusing on others. Its all we have so we have to make it count like Jesus.
We are constantly told we are boxed in but we don't follow the world we follow God. And by boxing our selves in we confine ourselves. We thing our comforts bring safety when in fact they are shackles and there is true abundant freedom in stepping out of our boxes and comforts. Peoples lives are at stake we can risk our comforts.
On this episode I will be discussing vulnerability. While the world tells us to protect our hearts at all cost vulnerability is a risk thats worth it to take. It isn't easy but we may find a small safe corner of the world by sharing the depths of our hearts with others. And above all when we are vulnerable with God our bond deepens.
While it is scary to put our mistakes and flaws out for all to see maybe just maybe us going through that can help someone else and open lines of communication. I have seen God pursue my heart in crazy ways after I fell to temptation big time. But God is rich in mercy and so with it has shown me so much love and renewal. We are in authentic when we try to act perfect and the most real thing we can do is fail so lets start owning up to it and see what God does with it.
This is the first official episode. On this episode I will be diving into what it actually means to fail and as being ok with failing in improv it has opened up my eyes to how valuable that experience can be if we let it. God uses our mistakes and makes them into beautiful messages.
This is an intro to the rest of this season. I will be talking about Improv and how God has used that to teach me so many beautiful things. I love that God turns up in secular things and I am excited to explore that with you all.
