How often do you look for God's provision in your life? Many times we assume that when good things come together it's the result of good planning or luck but what if it's more than that? God's provision is all around us and it is more than satisfying when we humble ourselves to receive it and pass it along to others.

Paul closes his letter to the Galatians with some practical advice on restoring a fellow believer caught in sin with humility and gentleness. As followers of Jesus we are willing to lay down our own lives for the sake of others and sometimes that looks like having the courage to come alongside someone to help them heal where they are broken.

We all know that even after acknowledging Jesus as our saving king we still have the capacity to give in to our desire to sin. Paul warns us that by feeding our flesh, we're robbing ourselves of the fruit that comes from the spirit. But if we learn to put our desire to sin to death, we will see the spirit produce good fruit in us.

Today we celebrate the resurrection of our saving king Jesus. Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection offers us freedom from slavery to sin and death. Since we've been set free, let's live in that freedom!

What do you do when people you love do the opposite of what you hope or want for them? Paul gives us a road map in the second half of chapter 4 for how to address these situations inside the church.

We believe Jesus is the son of God. We also believe that by putting our faith in Jesus as our saving king we also put on His life as our own. Paul makes it clear in Galatians that if this is true, then we have become sons and daughters of God, and as such, heirs to the kingdom of heaven.

Whether we mean to or not, we all live by a certain code. We have inner desires and motivations that lead us to make the decisions we make. Paul in his letter to the Galatians makes it clear - the code of life for followers of Jesus is to live by faith.

Conflict in life is unavoidable, however we all handle it in different ways. How can we learn to care about people in the midst of disagreements and conflict inside the church? We can learn a lot from Paul's approach.

We all want to experience more of God's presence and life in us. Jesus describes this as living water. In order to experience as much of that living water as possible, we need to dig deep wells.

God cares deeply about the poor and those in need. As his image bearers on earth He also desires for us to share this heart to meet the needs of those in our community and around the world.

How often do you stop to recognize that what you have isn't actually yours? Scripture tells us that all we have belongs to God and that we have been given the task of stewarding it well to promote life and wellbeing for all of creation.

It's human nature to believe the lie that we will be fulfilled with more. For that reason Jesus warned us to watch out for greed. His reminder in Luke 12 specifically is that life is not found in one's possessions.

As followers of Jesus we are called to live lives of generosity. We are called to look for ways to give away more than we look for ways to receive.

Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples! 2 Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 3 Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! 4 Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 5 Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.
32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
In Luke 1 Mary finds herself receiving incredible news that also puts her in a difficult position because of the culture she lives in. In spite of the circumstances Mary writes a song of joy and gratitude to God. In difficult circumstances we can still find joy in the presence of god.
16 “For God so loved the world,[i] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
Luke 2:8-11 8 And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. 10 And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
Mark 16:15 15 And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Matthew 28:18-20 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
2 Corinthians 9:7 7 Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. Matthew 25:35-40 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?'40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[f] you did it to me.'
We live in a very anxious world. That anxiety indicates to us that somewhere peace is lacking. The good news of Jesus' birth reminds us that we have a place to go to find peace that transcends our circumstances. We have peace in Jesus when the world around is in chaos.
James 1:17 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Ephesians 2:8For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
Luke 2:1-7 2 In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. 2 This was the first registration when[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria. 3 And all went to be registered, each to his own town. 4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, 5 to be registered with Mary, his betrothed,[b] who was with child. 6 And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn
Ephesians 5:2 2 And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. John 6:35 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
John 16:33 33 I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 20:21 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”
As we look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus this Christmas, we begin by looking at the hope Jesus brought into the world. The hope that sheds light into dark places and brings salvation to the world.
John 1:5 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands, 7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
