The Mission City Church podcast. A podcast with a mission to make Jesus known.

Missionary Nate Miler shares his experience as a missionary in Brazil. God has put a hope and prayer on Nate's heart for the people of the Amazon, but that hope doesn't end there. It's a timeless truth for all christians in all places.

How did Jesus know what the Father wanted Him to do? He saw what the Father was doing. How do you know what Jesus would do? You have to look at what Jesus did and depend on the Holy Spirit to lead you each day. When we stay in His Word, follow His example, and listen for His guidance, we begin to see life the way He sees it and love the way He loves.Follow Jesus—not just in name, but in the way you live every day. ✝️ #John5:18-29 #FollowJesus #HolySpirit #Faith #WalkWithChrist

We all learn pretty early on that life isn't fair. Part of the human experience Is experiencing injustice. Jesus saw this everywhere during his life, especially among his fellow Jewish people. Jesus taught a unique way of responding to injustice that preserved human dignity without without the need to get even.

Do you currently experience suffering or difficulty in your life? When Jesus met a man who had been disabled for 38 years he asked him one simple question, do you want to be healed? This might seem like a simple question, but it has a profound meaning. Jesus was offering healing, but not in the way the man expected and it would change his life forever.

Faith in difficult circumstances is never easy. At the end of John 4, Jesus is approached by a man who needs his son to be healed. The man displays incredible faith in that he trusts the word of Jesus that his son will be healed.

For so many of us, Jesus wants to offer us so much more than what our current spiritual life looks like. We miss out by trying to point out all of the things we need Jesus to fix in our lives while He wants to point out to us how small those things are compared to the greater truth of knowing Him and making Him known to others.

Every great team is made up of people who know their role. John the Baptist realized his role was not to be the messiah, but to point others to the one who was. This is a valuable lesson for all of us who follow Jesus and want to share his love with others. We are not the messiah - our job is to point others to Him.

On Resurrection Sunday we celebrate that Jesus did not stay dead in the tomb, but rose from the grave conquering sin and death. Jesus' victory over sin and death gives all those who put their faith in Him the chance to also conquer sin and death and live forever with Him. We believe that a public profession of faith invites the Holy Spirit to bring us to life. We are not just physical bodies with dead spirits, but we now experience life - physically and spiritually.

Do you ever take a moment to remember that Jesus knows your heart? Jesus knows what is in the heart of all men. If we believe that Jesus was a good teacher, but we haven't trusted him to be our saving king, he knows. If we struggle to fully follow His teachings always, but our hearts are set on knowing him and trying to do so, he knows.

As Jesus enters into Jerusalem he finds the temple full of noise and commerce. The place that was meant for worship and prayer has become a house of trade.

Everything Jesus did had purpose. The purpose of His first miracle was not just to save the bride and groom from shame but to announce that he was doing something new. The old ways were changing and the best was yet to come.

How do you know if God is speaking to you? You may have asked yourself this question many times. God offers 3 things that work together to give us guidance. His word, His Spirit, and His church.

If you've been around church for very long, you've probably heard the phrase “you can't serve God and money”. Did you know that Jesus actually mentions money in almost a third of his parables? To be fair, Jesus used money to talk about a lot of things that weren't actually money related, but that doesn't mean he didn't have something to say about it. Today we start a new series focusing specifically on what Jesus said about a whole bunch of things. If Jesus was the word of God that became flesh as the scriptures say, then certainly his words should matter to us.

The Bible is a wonderful resource for Christians for lots of reasons. Through His word, God reveals himself to us and teaches us what it means to be the humans we were created to be. Learning these truths doesn't always happen the first time through. Often understanding the Bible takes time and intentionality. It was intentionally written to be meditated and thought on.

As a church in 2026 we have a goal to pursue being together. We want to see this lived out in three ways - together with God, together with each other, and together on mission for our city.

John the Baptist had a very important role in the story of 'Jesus coming into the world. His job was to prepare the way for people to see and receive Jesus as their savior. We aren't John, but we have a similar role in preparing the world to see and receive Jesus because He is coming again.

We look forward to the resurrection, but what will it be like? Scripture has some answers for us about what we can expect for the resurrection and the age to come.

The Christian church as described by the Nicene Creed is one, holy, universal, and apostolic. Do we live up to those descriptions? God has called us to stand out among the world and treat each other differently. We are meant to be united and unique.

The Holy Spirit can feel like a mystery. For most Christians, the Father and Son are easy to identify, but what exactly is the Holy Spirit? How does the Holy Spirit impact the church today?

The resurrection of Jesus is the hope for christians today. We believe that because he rose again, ascended to heaven and is returning again, we also when we die or he returns will join him in resurrection and spending eternity with God.

Jesus is largely accepted as a real human being that walked the earth and died. Belief that Jesus existed doesn't make you a Christian. Instead, Christians believe the Jesus is not only our savior, but our king. He is the sovereign ruler of the universe.

As Christians we believe in one God who is supreme over everything and sufficient to sustain all life including you and me. He is not only worthy, but deserving of all praise and worship.

This week we start a new series focused on the Nicene Creed. Each of the three declarations of the creed start with the phrase, "We believe in". This phrase highlights the communal and faithful elements of our beliefs. Being a christian is not meant to be an individual experience based on knowledge, but a communal experience based on faith.

At some point in life, everyone experiences some form of pain and suffering. The way that we respond to our pain and suffering will determine the legacy we leave with those we love. As disciples of Jesus, we have the opportunity to take on his example of forgiveness to cut out the root of bitterness and return peace and blessing from the pain and suffering we experience.

As we grow to a more mature discipleship our focus shifts from getting our life together to giving it away. We do this through intentional selfless living, forgiveness, gratitude, and commitment to the mission of God. Practically, we begin to focus on the teachings of the great commandment, great commission, and social mandate.

Getting your life together is not a matter of finding the right job or partner or place to live. Getting your life together is becoming a disciple of Jesus. We believe that following Jesus is the way to find life.

The greatest hope we have as believers is not the life and death of Jesus, but in his resurrection. Because Jesus resurrected, there is hope for us too. Not only should we remind each other of this hope regularly, but also share it with those who have no hope.

Have you ever wondered what God's will for your life was? So often we think about trying to make sure we do what God wants when it comes to big decisions in our lives. Paul's encouragement to the Thessalonians is not to be so concerned about that, but to submit your entire life to God in order to be sanctified by Him. God's will as defined by Paul is for us to be sanctified.

The apostle Paul had a deep love for the community of believers. He passed this love on to the Thessalonian church. In this portion of his letter he thanks them for their steadfast love and shares with them what a blessing they are to him in the way they love each other.
