Luke 10:16; “The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me, but the one who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.” It is helpful for all servants of God to not hold either praise or rejection too tightly. If they truly represent their Master, the success or rejection of their work is more due to Him than to them. Their greatest concern should not be with success or rejection, but with properly representing Jesus their Master.
In today's episode, we're going to be talking about rejection. At some point in a persons life they will experience rejection, whether it's in relationship, job proposal, dating, banking, minor or maybe even huge. The important thing is how we respond to rejection and our outlook on rejection. Rejection doesn't mean you're weak or less of a human, but rather it's a moment to accept, learn, readjust and keep on moving. Enjoy this episode and even share it with a close friend.

So many people war against the root of rejection every day of their lives. What they don't realize is that rejection leads to a whole variety of other issues if it's not dealt with. Today we'll talk about all of this and you'll also be introduced to the One who will never reject you, Jesus!
Pastor Phelps shares with the church a sobering message on what happens when the grace David shares is scorned, and draws important parallels to what happens in our lives when we reject God's grace. Originally preached on Sunday evening September 26, 2021.
Zec 8:20-23 Thus says the LORD of hosts: There shall yet come peoples, the inhabitants of many cities; and the inhabitants of one city shall approach those of another, and say, “Come! let us go to implore the favor of the LORD”; and, “I too will go to seek the LORD.” Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem and to implore the favor of the LORD. Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” Responsorial Psalm 87:1b-3, 4-5, 6-7 R. (Zec 8:23) God is with us. His foundation upon the holy mountains the LORD loves: The gates of Zion, more than any dwelling of Jacob. Glorious things are said of you, O city of God! R. God is with us. I tell of Egypt and Babylon among those that know the LORD; Of Philistia, Tyre, Ethiopia: “This man was born there.” And of Zion they shall say: “One and all were born in her; And he who has established her is the Most High LORD.” R. God is with us. They shall note, when the peoples are enrolled: “This man was born there.” And all shall sing, in their festive dance: “My home is within you.” R. God is with us. Alleluia Mk 10:45 R. Alleluia, alleluia. The Son of Man came to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. R. Alleluia, alleluia. Gospel Lk 9:51-56 When the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there, but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?” Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/sofia-fonseca7/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sofia-fonseca7/support
They told me I wasn't sexy enough. Well not verbally, but I knew that was why I didn't get the job. When I was set to return to the same place years later, an unexpected bump took a hit to my confidence. At the last minute, I had a revelation about what the real change in me since that day was. On today's Books with Hooks segment, we have an author come onto the show to discuss her submission with us. In the segment, Carly and CeCe chat with Shari about linking multiple POV stories in a query letter; answering the 'why now?' question; establishing what's at stake for each POV character; how an offer implies a transaction, and how all of life is about power; being careful who you comp as that creates expectations; explaining the thematic pressures that affect characters; how regret is a passive emotion; and nailing entry and exit points in each chapter. After which, Bianca chats with debut author of The Tiger Mom's Tale, Lyn Liao Butler, about how to find support as a debut novelist; debuting in a hostile climate; how much is out of your control as a debut author; revising a novel and changing POVs in the process; all the mistakes writers make with their first novels; the evolution of a rejected manuscript on its journey to publication; why reading is so important; how to use feedback and critique; and how to choose the right agent.

This week's episode begins with an assertion that neither pain nor compassion is a zero-sum commodity. Estranged adult child are in some ways wounded by the relationship they share with their parents. Most people in this position are in pain over the necessity of estrangement. Acknowledging that fact, we can still find compassion for the rejected parent who finds himself left behind. It's usually the case that he did the best he knew how to do, and didn't mean to hurt his child(ren). Estrangement involves pain on both sides. Tina talks about three separate types of parental pain, which she suggests exist at deeper and deeper levels in the parent. If you're hurting over the relationship with your adult child or children, this episode is a must-listen.

We deal with a lot of obstacles as writers, but one of the biggest is rejection. Rejection can come in many forms, but whatever form it takes… it hurts. And let's be honest, it can hurt pretty badly. Some writers never recover from it. So how can we deal with it? J. K. Rowling offers some great advice. She said, “Resilience and humility. These go hand-in-hand, because rejection and criticism are part of a writer's life. Informed feedback is useful and necessary, but some of the greatest writers were rejected multiple times.” On today's episode, Kent reminds us that all professionals get rejected at some point, but what makes them successful is that they never give up. *** Are you looking for a community of enthusiastic, generous writers to help you build better habits and grow your writing business?
