It's been a rough journey for our host and like Dan said, they really needed a win. Major League has a killer cast, yet unfortunately only 2 and a quarter speaking roles for women. With new movies and our lives being sanitized of color watching Major League reminds the audience of a time when films, lives, clothes, and the overall world was a fun place to live. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but the men and woman looked like people. The bodies were real bodies. It was more okay to age. Actors were age appropriate for their parts. Suspending disbelief was so much easier. The guys talk all about these things while reciting their favorite lines, laughing about the many training montages, giving the late Bob Uecker his flowers, and talking about the power and lasting legacy of baseball movies like The Natural, Field of Dreams, and A League of Their Own. All of this was going on while the New York Knicks were being destroyed in game 3 of the NBA Finals. You can listen to the other episodes where the guys talk about the mall while The Knicks are playing and then hear their reactions to the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history. He did not stay and fight the people who rejected Him. He did not argue, defend Himself, or try to win them back. He did something that looks, at first, like defeat — He withdrew. He moved. And what happened the moment He did is the entire point of this passage.Because the place He withdrew to did not get smaller. It got bigger. Far bigger.People started coming to Him from directions and distances that had never happened before — from regions that had never sent anyone, crowds so large they are listed by name and place in the text. The rejection in one room did not shrink His reach. It multiplied it. What looked like the end of something was actually the doorway into something larger than anything He had walked in before.There is also a detail at the very start of this passage — a man told to do the one thing he physically could not do, in front of the people waiting to accuse — that will change the way YOU respond the next time God asks YOU to move on something that looks impossible while people are watching, hoping YOU fail.So what did he do? Drawing from the Parable of the Wicked Tenants in Matthew 21:33-46, this sermon presents God as the ultimate owner of all things who has entrusted humanity with his blessings and expects faithful stewardship in return. Pastor Erin traces the pattern of God's extraordinary patience throughout Israel's history, demonstrated through repeated warnings via the prophets, culminating in the sending of his own Son. The religious leaders of Israel, like the wicked tenants, rejected and killed the Son, fulfilling the very parable Jesus spoke against them. Yet in that rejection, God's redemptive plan was accomplished, as the rejected stone became the cornerstone. The sermon calls every listener to recognize that Jesus as cornerstone demands a personal response: one may either fall upon him in surrender and be broken and renewed, or ultimately be crushed under the weight of his judgment. God's patience is merciful but not endless, and the fruit of a transformed life is the expected evidence of genuine faith.

But his new book, “Without Prejudice: My Life as a Gay Judge” , which was released earlier this summer, reveals the heart-breaking personal cost of fighting homophobia from his family, at university, Bay Street law firms, and even from the top level of the Ontario government. But as Brownstone turned 70 last week, on July 24, he is thrilled that his life story is now touching a chord with so many readers both in the gay community and beyond. His book has been on the bestseller lists. Soon, a new Hollywood bio-pic of his life, starring David Arquette, based on the manuscript, is to be released this fall. And while Brownstone doesn't have his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, nearly five years post-retirement from the bench, he's already interviewed hundreds of famous movie stars since he launched his second career as a celebrity talk-show host in 2021. Cocktail we never thought we'd still be at it in 2026, or that we'd meet so many amazing people and other podcasters, or even that our friends would want to come on and talk s**t with us on random Wednesday nights, or that we'd get the chance to interview creatives, actors, musicians, and academics from all over the world. We never thought that this indie engine that could would bring people joy and laughter, and at times make them angry at us, which that's cool too, and we're going to keep at it as long as we're having fun. This 200th episode is a classic Nostalgia Test from beginning to end. It's filled with Mineola High School tangents, personal stories, and dirty jokes. This is what it's like to hang out with us on a random night in our friend's basement until 3am talking nonsense about a movie that's a total reflection of our lives in 1999. When American Pie came out in 1999, we were all in high school going into our senior year. Over 13 of us pre-gamed before going to the Raceway Movie Theater on Long Island, bought tickets at the door, loudly found an entire row of seats, and laughed our asses off. This movie is a time capsule of the time and became a pop culture phenomenon. Not a single Millennial of a certain age can ever look at an apple pie again and not think of this movie or hear the phrase “This on time at band camp...” and not know what comes next. These moments are burned into our brains. Are there issues with this movie? Absolutely, and we talk about all of them, because you can't watch some of these scenes with older eyes and let that stuff slide. At the same time, rewatching American Pie was more than the scenes, it was about what was happening outside the borders of the film. It's about a time when groups of friends went places with each other, filled movie theaters together, went out after, and didn't feel the need to post about it on social media or make content about the moment. Those moments were for us. They made their DC theater debut at Capital Fringe 2022 with their solo performance, Atemporal, earning a "Best of Fringe" designation from DC Theater Arts. Cooper has also performed at the Kennedy Center with Story District and off-broadway at Joe's Pub in New York City with Generation Women. Their visual art has been featured in collections at the DC Commission of Arts & Humanities' I Street Gallery, the Rhizome, DuPont Underground, the DC LGBTQ Center, and As You Are. With a background in journalism, Cooper now uses their expertise to document the modern history of the transgender community through their growing oral history archive, The Trans Guide. Originally from Central Florida, Cooper now resides in Baltimore, with their wife, two cats, puppy, and a cherished queer chosen family. Adrianne Frost is an awarding winning storyteller and performer. Most recently, she performed with Generation Women at Joe's Pub, and has performed in Awkward Teenage Stories, Rejected, Two Truths And A Lie, Just One More Thing, and is a Moth Slam Champion. She began her own storytelling show in 2022 that runs every month at QED in Astoria called “New Tricks Stories”, in which all of the storytellers are over forty. @newtricksstories Originally from Louisiana, Adrianne Frost has been acting and performing for over 30 years. She has been seen everywhere from The Daily Show and Late Night With Conan O'Brien to the Law and Order franchise and the occasional independent film. Her true love is live performing and she has performed solo improv and her award-winning monologues all over New York City and at the Boston, Chicago and Orlando Improv and Comedy Festivals. Adrianne has written one book, I Hate Other People's Kids (Simon & Schuster) and is featured in two anthologies, including the 2004 Signet Book of American Humor.
