He's all these things, and everyone's like, f*** this guy.” -Dan Happy Holidays! This episode is so much fun. For the holiday break we are resurfacing some of our best episodes so far. Here is the best episode of season 3.Kyle left his job as a hacker at the NSA to launch Huntress. He bootstrapped for 3 years and burned all his savings. One of his co-founders quit. This is the Free Content version of my interview with author Graham St. John. To access the full interview, please consider joining Patreon as a paid member, or you can purchase the episode for a one-time fee. www.patreon.com/RejectedReligion. This month's guest is author Graham St. John, who joined me to discuss his new book, Strange Attractor: The Hallucinatory Life of Terence McKenna.Terence McKenna remains one of the most enigmatic voices of the psychedelic counterculture—equal parts philosopher, performer, and visionary. In this episode, we explore McKenna's mythopoetic “stoned ape” theory, his radical take on shamanism, the ‘teacher' Mushroom that leads one to the ‘indwelling of the Goddess', the mysteries of DMT and the “machine elves,” and his controversial Timewave Zero vision of history and hyperspace that embraced the I Ching and the Mayan calendar ‘2012 phenomenon.'Beyond psychedelics, McKenna was also fascinated with alchemy and Gnosticism, and while figures like Crowley, John Dee, and Gurdjieff were not embraced by McKenna, Graham nevertheless calls him a “psychedelic occultist”—a thinker whose visions of transformation resonate with centuries of esoteric tradition, even if McKenna probably would have resisted the label. Along the way, we unpack the tension between his cult of personality and his desire for academic legitimacy, and consider the legacy he left for today's psychedelic and occult communities.Unfortunately, I experienced some technical difficulties with my podcasting equipment, and the sound quality is not up to the normal standard. Luckily, my brother Daniel, who does the editing for the podcasts, was able to work his engineering magic and was able to salvage the file and clean up the audio the best he could. I hope this isn't too distracting and that you'll enjoy this discussion!PROGRAM NOTES:Find Graham St. John:Graham St John, anthropologist, cultural historian and author. -Warner Bros. Discovery's board has formally rejected the $108 billion takeover bid from Paramount Skydance. WBD said it remains committed to its $82.7 billion deal with Netflix, which would close some time next year, pending regulatory approval. -Amazon is in discussions with OpenAI to invest $10 billion in the company while supplying more of its AI chips and cloud computing services, according to The Financial Times. The deal would push OpenAI's valuation over $500 billion but is likely to raise more questions about the company's circular investment agreements involving chips and data centers. -Back in 2022, the California DMV accused the automaker of using deceptive language to advertise those products and making it seem like its vehicles are capable of level 5 autonomous driving. Why is big data losing the PR battle?
Despite repeated warnings from Senate President, Pro Tempore Rod Bray, Governor Mike Braun insisted on an up or down vote on mid-cycle redistricting. He got his wish late last week. In the face of intense pressure from not just Braun, but also Lt. Governor Micah Beckwith and Turning Point USA, the senate resoundingly rejected adopting new congressional maps by a vote of 31-19. In a saga with many losers, arguably Indiana's Governor and Lt. Governor are at the top of the list. Rob Kendall, Jim Merritt, and Abdul-Hakim Shabazz discuss on Statehouse Happenings. In an era when many consumer brands chased venture capital and rapid expansion, Andrew Benin, CEO and Co-Founder of Graza, took a different path. Since launching in 2022, his olive oil brand has become known for its distinctive squeeze bottle packaging and methodical approach to growth, prioritizing product quality and strategic partnerships over instant gratification. Benin's journey from cooking at Gramercy Tavern to building what he believes will be a top-two olive oil company offers a masterclass in patient brand building. In this conversation, we explore Graza's unconventional approach to sourcing, the strategy behind its iconic packaging, how the brand navigated early retail partnerships, and what Benin sees as the future of consumer brand building.

ANGELA'S SYMPOSIUM 📖 Academic Study on Witchcraft, Paganism, esotericism, magick and the Occult
Have you ever lit a candle, whispered an incantation, and watched something uncannily fitting happen days later? Was it magic, or just a well-timed coincidence? In the world of esoteric practice, we are trained to notice patterns, to read signs, to find meaning where others see randomness. But what if some of those connections aren't what they seem? What if we're mistaking correlation for causation, and calling it magic? In this video, we're diving into the most seductive illusion in both magic and conspiracy thinking: the leap from “this happened” to “I caused it.” Drawing on philosophy, psychology, and the history of occult thought, we'll explore why our brains are wired to see patterns, how magical fallacies take root, and how to practise with both conviction and discernment. If you want to refine your craft, sharpen your thinking, and avoid the traps that turn meaningful magic into wishful thinking, stay with me. This might just be the most important spell you ever learn.CONNECT & SUPPORT
God reveilles His truth; our flesh rejects it, and that rejection ruins our humanity.
Luke 4:14-30 takes us into the heart of Jesus' first sermon in his hometown synagogue, where he proclaims a message that still echoes through the centuries: the day of liberation has arrived. When Jesus reads from Isaiah about bringing good news to the poor, freedom to captives, and sight to the blind, he's not just speaking about physical poverty or political oppression under Rome—he's addressing our deepest bondage, the slavery to sin that we willingly enter through our fallen nature. What makes this passage particularly striking is the crowd's reaction: they go from amazement to murderous rage in moments. Why? Because Jesus dares to suggest that God's mercy extends beyond their comfortable boundaries to include foreigners and outsiders. The Nazarenes wanted a messiah who would affirm their privilege and meet their expectations, but Jesus came to shatter those assumptions. This confrontation reveals something profound about human nature—we resist the gospel when it challenges our cultural norms, our sense of entitlement, and our desire for comfortable religion. The cross, which seemed like defeat, was actually the throne from which our King secured our freedom. The year of Jubilee isn't some distant hope; it's here now, inviting us into complete liberation through repentance and faith. We're challenged to ask ourselves: will we receive this deliverer and the uncomfortable transformation he brings, or will we, like the Nazarenes, reject him when his truth confronts our assumptions?
Most Christians aren’t being persecuted with violence, they’re being persecuted with people. Unfriended. Misunderstood. Labeled. Screenshot. Canceled. In this episode, Jon Ellis breaks down what Jesus actually said about rejection and why following Him will cost you socially, but will never cost you your identity. You’ll learn why rejection is often revelation, how to stand strong when people walk away, and how the Holy Spirit empowers you to stay faithful in a culture obsessed with approval. This teaching is bold, pastoral, and prophetic, exactly what Gen Z and Millennials need to navigate the pressure of modern-day cancel culture. If you feel alone, overlooked, or unfollowed because of your faith… this episode will give you courage, clarity, and the conviction to stand with Jesus, even when it seems like you stand alone. Ever felt unfollowed, misunderstood, or quietly excluded because you chose to stand on Scripture? You’re not crazy, and you’re not alone. Jesus warned His followers that cultural rejection would come, and He taught us how to stand firm when the pressure hits. In this bold and pastoral episode, Jon Ellis equips you with clarity, courage, and practical steps to stay faithful when approval fades. If you’re ready to rise above cancel culture and live Uncommon, this episode will strengthen your resolve.

Paul Blackstone, longtime education operator and founder of SummitLearn, joins Jeremy Au to unpack his path from running a small health-food shop in Australia to leading one of China's largest English-learning organizations and advising education companies worldwide. He shares how early failures taught him to learn fast, why teaching adults unlocked his passion for human development, and how China's boom years shaped his leadership approach. They discuss how culture and discipline drive scale more than perfect products, why schools struggle to build creativity and mindset, and how parents can raise independent kids in an AI-first world. Their conversation explores the tension between academic metrics and behavioral growth, the power of founder-led culture in scaling teams, and why entrepreneurship can thrive both inside companies and in startup life. Paul also reflects on world-schooling his children, building Curio to fill classroom gaps, and why resilient learners will define the next generation. 01:20 Teaching sparks purpose: Paul discovers a powerful energy exchange with adult learners which anchors his lifelong commitment to education. 03:42 Early founder hardship builds awareness: Running a health-food shop from age 24 forces him to confront gaps in knowledge and learn real operational discipline. 07:14 A mis-hire becomes a breakthrough: Rejected as a teacher, Paul is instead hired as center manager and sent to Barcelona which launches his education leadership journey. 12:05 China becomes the rocket ship: Beijing's hypergrowth teaches him how culture, discipline and incentives scale teams faster than perfect pedagogy. 16:31 Performance culture drives results: Paul learns that resilient teams, strong habits and founder-aligned values matter more than any technical playbook. 22:21 Curio fills a missing layer: Seeing schools overlook mindset, creativity and curiosity, he creates a program that develops behavioral skills for children across multiple countries. 26:36 Independence shapes future learners: A year of world-schooling shows him that real-world exposure and discomfort accelerate resilience and academic growth. KrisAnne Hall (KrisAnneHall.com) is back with us after many months and tonight I want to discuss her thoughts on what obstacles remain in front of Donald Trump in his pursuit to "End the Income Tax". We are going to talk about who benefits the most, and which entities are going to be most ready to go to war to keep things as they are. Then I have a list of rejected Constitutional amendments that are both interesting and outrageous, so we'll go one by one, and perhaps even propose our own. In the second half we're going to five into a virtual ball pit of reels and calls from the audience and give away silver, and all that sheeeeit. In this message we look at one of the most beautiful portraits of Jesus' compassion in the Gospels. In Matthew 8:1–17, the Messiah reaches down to restore the rejected members of society: a leper no one would touch, a Gentile Roman centurion everyone despised, and a woman often overlooked in that culture. Jesus breaks every social barrier, every cultural taboo, and every religious expectation to show that the King's heart is for the lowest and the forgotten. This is a powerful reminder that no one is beyond His reach, His grace, or His restoring touch.

Stephen stands before an unjust court. The rulers of Israel are not seeking righteousness. Those claiming to be zealous for Moses and the Law set up men to bear false witness and accuse Stephen of thrusting Moses and the Law aside. But it is they that have thrust Moses and the Law aside. The tables are turned. Leading representatives of Israel find themselves indicted. Israel is on trial. In prophetic style, Stephen serves as a messenger of God indicting Israel for patterns of rejection that culminated in the rejection of the one and only truly Righteous One—Christ Jesus.
What if rejection isn't a failure… but a strategy? Maureen Evelyn joins me to unpack the psychology behind rejection therapy and why leaning into discomfort is the secret shortcut to the life you want. Check out Maureen here: https://www.instagram.com/maureensmindset/

A dancer's career is often shorter than many others, and for the most part, there comes a time when the performer must pivot and find other ways to find value and joy in their craft. Joining us today is Danielle Guillermo, a former dancer turned dance consultant, as well as brand strategist and web designer. We begin with Danielle's background and how she got into the world of dance before learning how her home and school support structures gave her the confidence needed to excel in performance. Then, we examine how her career goals have evolved since high school, how being rejected from Juilliard was a blessing in disguise, her role at the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, and other early-career experiences, and everything that happened to instigate the second phase of her career. We also discover how Danielle began building websites, her journey as a brand strategist, why she chose the teaching route, and why it's possible (and healthy) for artists to have financial aspirations without compromising their art. To end, Danielle walks us through Dance News Daily — the news hub she built for the entire dance community — and we discover what she has planned for the near future as well as how to connect with her and her work. Key Points From This Episode: Danielle Guillermo describes who she is and how she got into the world of dance. What drew her to ballet, and a journey through her time at dance school. How her support structures gave her confidence that she previously had to fake. The goals she had when growing up in dance school and how they've evolved. Rejected from Juilliard: The ups and downs of her dancing education after high school. The start of her career and her experience at Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Her European adventure, and everything that happened post-DCDC 2. How Danielle's performance career ended and why she chose to focus full-time on teaching. Breaking Glass: How she approached a career crossroads at the age of 31. How artists can also have aspirations of financial freedom without compromising their art. Danielle's website-building career and how it's transformed her and her client's lives. The importance of building a personal brand and making it visible to the right people. Unpacking Dance News Daily – a news hub for the entire dance community. Danielle's upcoming projects and what she's focused on moving forward. How to connect with Danielle Guillermo and her work. "It looks like you're taking the focus off of the art and you're talking about money. For me, it's not one or the other. We as artists need to survive. And not just survive, let's look at thriving." — Danielle Guillermo For more on Danielle and Show Notes & Links: The Moving Architects Follow the podcast on Instagram & Facebook Donate to The Moving Architects today and support this podcast! 6/8. Alf Landon, the Unremarkable Candidate, Nominated by Republicans — David Pietrusza — Republicansdeliberately rejected Herbert Hoover, instead considering mavericks like William Borah and mainstream figures like Arthur Vandenberg before ultimately nominating Alf Landon, the progressive Governor of Kansas, who had won his initial term through fortuitous electoral circumstances. Landon, derisively known as the "Kansas Coolidge" for his lackluster personality, was strongly championed by William Randolph Hearst but demonstrated poor radio communication skills, a critical disadvantage in modern electoral politics. 1936 SONJA HENIE
