Your morning briefing, the business news you need in just 15 minutes. On today's podcast: (1) Once again, President Donald Trump demonstrated his power to shake up global financial markets. This time, by returning to one of his favorite topics: whether to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. (2) The US President said he would send letters to more than 150 countries notifying them their tariff rates could be 10% or 15% as he forges ahead with his trade agenda. (3) JPMorgan Chase keeps putting more distance between itself and key rivals. The first half saw the bank’s market value surpass that of its three largest competitors — BofA, Citigroup and Wells Fargo — combined. (4) Wall Street banks were optimistic Donald Trump’s second term would unleash a dealmaking boom. Instead, it’s delivered a trading bonanza. (5) When Jon Cunliffe arrived at the Bank of England in 2013 he had a daunting task: implement the biggest ever clean-up of Britain’s banking system — designed in the wake of the financial crisis — to prevent highly leveraged lenders from collapsing. Tempted out of retirement in 2024, the 72-year-old has been asked to pull off a similar job, but this time as the architect of a reform package to fix the UK’s heavily indebted and wildly unpopular water industry (6) Germany has rejected the European Commission’s €2 trillion ($2.3 trillion) budget proposal, hours after it was announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Brussels. (7) UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will sign a new Anglo-German treaty in London on Thursday that includes a commitment to assist each other in case of armed attack. Send us a textWhat happens when pride leads us to reject God's standards? In this illuminating episode of Devotions with Dr. Papa, we dive deep into the biblical account of history's first siblings and humanity's first murder. Drawing from Genesis 4:2-5, Dr. Jackson expertly unravels the profound spiritual lessons hidden within this ancient story that remain startlingly relevant today. Why did God accept Abel's offering but reject Cain's? The answer transcends their occupations as shepherd and farmer. Abel, described as both "righteous" and a "prophet" by Jesus himself, offered his sacrifice in faith and obedience. Meanwhile, Cain—whom Scripture identifies as "of the wicked one"—rebelliously presented what he wanted to give rather than what God required. This fundamental difference reveals the true condition of their hearts and foreshadows the tragic consequences that would follow.Dr. Papa masterfully connects this ancient narrative to our modern spiritual struggles, highlighting how pride—thinking our way is better than God's way—lies at the root of all sin. Through a compelling personal story about confronting a friend caught in infidelity, he demonstrates the stark contrast between responding to truth with humble repentance versus Cain's path of anger and resentment. The lesson becomes crystal clear: "A wise man receives the rebuke of a friend, but a foolish man, a proud man like Cain, does not."This episode reminds us that our hope must be built on "nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness" and that God rejects our man-made substitutes for salvation just as He rejected Cain's offering. Whether you're struggling with pride, facing difficult truth in your life, or simply seeking deeper biblical understanding, this powerful teaching offers timeless wisdom for your spiritual journey. Listen now and discover what it truly means to approach God on His terms, not our own.Support the showhttps://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

Well, it did not take long for the College Sports Commission's "NIL Go" clearinghouse to make waves. According to the director of Utah State's collective, Dalton Forsythe, "nearly 100 percent of collective-backed NIL deals are being denied, regardless of size or structure. The College Sports Commission has taken the position that collectives cannot serve a 'valid business purpose' — a standard that was never clearly communicated before implementation." On today's show, Jonah Booker and Dave Biddle discuss this situation and what might be coming down the pike. If an athlete's NIL deal is rejected -- and he challenges that ruling in a court of law -- the athlete would likely prevail, right? Or does the House settlement actually have teeth, allowing the clearinghouse to reject any and all deals from collectives? We also discuss how much Ohio State will miss Will Howard this season at quarterback -- particularly his ability in the RPO game and his leadership -- and much more.
