Anyone who watches court cases on TV can tell you that the most important factor in acquittal or conviction is the quality of the evidence. There is plenty of evidence to support the resurrection of Jesus, but as we wrap up our series today, pastor Lloyd will also consider another important question - why did Jesus die?

Today we'll bring you part one of pastor Lloyd's final message in his series through Mark. Jesus indeed rose from the grave, and the proof was there for anyone to see - anyone that is who sought the truth. As Lloyd will mention, the proof that Jesus Christ rose from the grave is overwhelming, and anyone who disagrees simply doesn't know what they're talking about!
Abram went off course and fled away from the place God told him to go. He ended up failing the test in Egypt but was able to go back and pick up where he left off. Going back to square one means going back the only valid object of faith: God Himself. The good news for all God's children is that even when we fail we cannot fall because Christ is forever Risen.

There you will see him, just as he told you.” [8] And they went out and fled from the tomb, for trembling and astonishment had seized them, and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid. No matter who you are or what you believe in, there's one thing that's certain: death. To deal with this subject, we must look at the One who came to undo it, specifically the fact of Jesus' death and the reality of the empty tomb. Mark 15:37-16:9With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last. The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, saw how he died, he said, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joseph, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there. It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached, Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body. Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died. When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph. So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where he was laid. When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?”But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.“Don't be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' ”Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.
* You can get the sermon note sheet at: https://family-bible-church.org/2025Messages/25Aug17.pdf * Your "testimony" is a declaration of your experience. This testimony can include what you experience in the physical, emotional, and spiritual realms. It is not only what you experienced physically through your sense - sight, sound, smell, taste and touch - but, also what you felt internally, what you thought, and what things you believe were being brought to you from an external source. This is your testimony. People may question it, deny it, ridicule it, ... or believe it. But regardless, it is what YOU experienced. * Today, we are going to talk about the testimonies - the experiences - of two separate groups of people: the women at the tomb and the disciples on the road to Emmaus. Both groups experienced the results of Christ being risen from the dead. Both groups had different experiences which corroborated each others testimony. * Jesus, who had been crucified three days prior - was Risen! * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on August 17, 2025 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.
The One who is worthy of opening the scroll in Revelation 5 is also worthy of our praise and worship. Known as the risen Lamb who was slain and the promised Lion of Judah, He has redeemed us from all the nations and it is our honor to glorify Him with all of His creation.
JESUS IS A LAMB AND A LION As a lamb, Christ was our sin offering. As a lamb, He was born in a place where lambs were born. As a lamb, he was laid in a stone feeding trough, where sheep ate. And as a lamb, He visited by shepherds who were in the fields watching sheep who would one day be offered as sacrifices. As a lamb, He depended on His parents who were His assigned shepherds, but like a lion, the lamb boldly reasoned with theologians at 12 years of age. As a lamb, He was tempted in the wilderness but like a lion, God’s lamb overcame the tempter with His voice, “Get behind me satan!” As a lamb, He was sleeping during a storm but like a lion the lamb of God stood up and said, “Peace be still.” As a lamb, He was beaten with a whip, but like a lion he made a whip and used it to cleanse the temple. As a lamb, He died as our sacrifice but like a lion, He conquered death. As a lamb, He wept at Lazarus’ tomb but like a lion He roared, “Come forth!” As a lamb, He allowed people to touch Him, but like a lion He boldly cast out demons. As a lamb, He was led to the slaughter for us but like a lion, the lamb of God arose from the dead. He came as a lamb, slain from the world’s foundation, but He’s coming back as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. Those messianic promises that were not yet fulfilled, He will fulfill as the Lion of Judah. Sam Storms says, “The Lion in whom we find unimpeachable authority is also the Lamb who embodies humility and meekness in the highest degree.” He continues, “The Lion who wields power and strength that none can resist is also the Lamb who walked the earth in weakness and suffering, resisting none.” The same Jesus! He who laid down all His rights, has now received all authority. This lion-like Lamb is also the lamb-like Lion, most worthy of our best praise and selfless worship, undying devotion and sacrificial service. Jesus is a Lamb and a Lion. Alan Latta August 17, 2025

Pastor Chuck Maher shares the role of baptism in the early Church and its importance in our faith walk today.
She was from the town of Magdala on the Sea of Galilee, for which reason she is called "Magdalene." The Lord Jesus cast out seven demons from her, after which she became His faithful disciple, following Him even to the Cross when most of His disciples had fled. With the other holy Myrrh-bearers, she prepared the spices to anoint His body and carried them to His tomb. There she was one of the first witnesses to the Resurrection, and the first to proclaim it. Various traditions hold that, after Christ's ascension, she traveled to Rome, where she presented the Emperor with a red egg and proclaimed "Christ is Risen!" For this reason her icons often show her holding a red egg, and from this the tradition of distributing red eggs at Pascha is said to have arisen. She is then said to have travelled to Ephesus where she helped St John the Theologian in his gospel ministry before reposing there. Mary Magdalene is sometimes identified with the "sinful woman" of the Gospels, but this is not the Church's tradition. Neither the Gospels nor the sacred hymnography of the Church make this connection. The name 'Madeleine' is a form of 'Magdalene'.
