The wonderful doctrine of the intercession of Christ should be a constant comfort to our souls! Jesus ever lives to make intercession "FOR US" His beloved saints. And since His intercession is continual, since the Risen and Ascended living Christ is always appearing before the face of God for us, we should always be full of comfort and rejoicing that we are saved to the uttermost!

Ephesians 1:15-23 • The Ascension of Our Lord
The Lord is king! Let the earth rejoice; let the many coast lands be glad!." (Psalm 97:1). We come together to call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised! Scripture References: Luke 24:44-53; Acts 1:1-11 6/1/25 Ascension of Our Lord - Christ's ascension means that in heaven there is one who, knowing firsthand the experience of suffering and temptation, prays for us and perfects our prayers. The ascension is a witness and guarantee of our own bodily resurrection, as well as an invitation for us to set our hearts and minds “on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God” (Col. 3:1-2) to rule over all things in heaven and throughout the universe (Eph.1:10, 20-23). Finally, the ascension of Jesus serves as the prelude to Pentecost, when the power of the risen Christ came upon all believers through the Holy Spirit. We celebrate and remember the ascension of Christ today.

Join Pastor Balla for this powerful Ascension Day sermon, “Christ Ascended, Promises Secure,” based on Luke 24:44–53 (ESV). Preached within the rich liturgical tradition of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS), this sermon proclaims the victorious reign of our risen and ascended Lord Jesus Christ. Far from being absent, Christ ascended to intercede for us, to reign in glory, and to secure every promise He made to His Church. This Christ-centered message confronts the sin of doubt and points to the sure hope found in Jesus' real presence—not just in heaven, but also in His Word, Holy Baptism, and the Lord's Supper. Drawing from Scripture and confessional Lutheran theology, Pastor Balla reminds us that Christ's ascension is not a farewell, but a coronation—where Christ now rules with divine authority and steadfast love for His people.Whether you are preparing a Bible study, meditating on the Ascension of Our Lord, or seeking encouragement in faith, this sermon will strengthen your trust in the Gospel promises that never fail.Watch, subscribe, and share to spread the Gospel of Christ ascended and reigning!
In this episode, I reflect on transitions—those moments when one chapter ends and another begins. Whether it's graduating, getting married, or even facing death, these times can bring both fear and anticipation. The Ascension of Jesus is one of those moments: His earthly ministry ends, but something greater begins. He doesn't leave us; He ascends to continue His work through His Church, through us. Jesus is still present—bodily and spiritually—guiding us, blessing us, and working through our hands and voices. So, whatever change you're facing, you're not alone. Christ is ascended—and that means He's still at work for you, right now, and forever.
This sermon is drawn from Luke 24:44-53.

What benefits are ours because Jesus is alive? And what does His ascension mean for our daily lives? From the empty tomb to the throne of heaven, this message unpacks why Jesus' victory over death is not just a past event—but our present hope and eternal future.Discover why Jesus is not only the risen Savior but also our ever-present Advocate and the only High Priest we'll ever need.Message Notes:Luke 24:1-9 But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, taking the spices that they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in, they did not find the body. While they were perplexed about this, suddenly two men in dazzling clothes stood beside them. The women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.” Then they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb, they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest. Why does the resurrection matter to us? What benefits are ours through a once-dead-but-now-alive Lord?Christ's resurrection means the death of Jesus was enough.1 Corinthians 15:17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins.If Jesus did not rise from the dead, then death has power over Him and defeated Him.If death has power over Jesus, He is not God.If Jesus is not God, He cannot offer a complete sacrifice for sins.If Jesus cannot offer a complete sacrifice for sins, our sins are not completely paid for before God.If my sins are not completely paid for before God, then I am still in my sins. Therefore, if Jesus is not risen, He is unable to save.2. Christ's resurrection gives us power for new life—right now.Romans 6:5-11 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin. For whoever has died is freed from sin. But if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. The death he died, he died to sin, once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. We are not just practicing the way of Jesus, but we are also participating in His death and resurrection.Romans 8:11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you. 3. Christ's resurrection guarantees our future resurrection. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.Luke 24:50-51 … and, lifting up his hands, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he withdrew from them and was carried up into heaven.Luke 24:52 And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple blessing God.The GREAT JOY of the Ascension: 1. Jesus is not absent from us for even a moment.John 16:7 It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you. 2. The ascension guarantees that our bodies will be in heaven.Christ's flesh in heaven is the pledge that ours will be there too.Colossians 3:1–3 says So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 3. We have an advocate & intercessor in heavenThe cross was His sacrifice. The resurrection was His victory. The ascension is His ongoing ministry.Jesus, Our Only High Priest. (Heb. 7:27; 9:12, 25–26; 10:10–18).Jesus died in our place, and He lives to pray for us.1 John 2:1 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. Pastor Jordan Perkins Hebrews 1:1-14 A sermon of Rocky Mountain Community Church, PCA in Billings, MT (5/25/2025)
When Jesus ascended into heaven, the angels who appeared to His stunned disciples told them that He would “come back in the same way” they had seen Him leave. The church has often discussed the return of Jesus as something to be feared, but what if His return was finally the answer to our prayer for His “kingdom to come” and His “will to be done on earth as it is in heaven”? Join us for the conclusion of Ascended, where we will consider the nature of Jesus' return, its timing, and the consequences for the church and the world.
Our king's ascended. Our king's returning. What does this mean about how we live now, between the two? Pastor Jeremy Treat continues our series through Acts with a sermon from Acts:1:9-11.
When a Roman general defeated a city, he was honored with a victory parade into the Roman capital. His parade showcased his army, adoring citizens, and trophies from the conquered region, including those he had defeated in chains for all of Rome to see. When Jesus ascended into heaven, He also led a victory parade, not as a triumphant general, but as the Lamb who had been slain. Join us for part 3 of Ascended, where we will explore the heavenly perspective on Jesus' ascension.

Dr. Sean Morris, associate pastor of Covenant PCA of Oak Ridge, TN, preaches on the ascension from Acts 1:1-11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unk3QHXXUSw
Following the shocking and joyous triumph of the resurrection, Jesus made several appearances to His disciples. Forty days later, He ascended to heaven, leaving His followers standing around, looking into the sky and wondering what it all meant. Why would Jesus leave? Wasn't the resurrection the perfect opportunity to establish the kingdom of Israel and reign as the rightful and eternal king? Join us for part two of Ascended, where we will answer the question, “Why did Jesus leave?”
In this powerful conclusion to the Gospel of Luke, Pastor Chad preaches “A Certain Story: Christ Risen and Ascended.” Jesus appears to His disciples in a locked room, offering peace and proof of His bodily resurrection. He eats, teaches, and commissions them—then ascends in glory. This sermon reminds us that Jesus is not only alive, but reigning. And because He is risen and ascended, we can have certainty—about our forgiveness, our future, and our calling to proclaim the good news.
The message of Easter tells us that Jesus defeated death, rose from the grave, and ascended into Heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of God. This is a powerful story, but if we're honest, the thought of Christ's ascension can be a confusing idea. So, what does His ascension really mean? Listen in as we talk about how God's plan for our Savior resulted in Jesus ruling over us with intention, interceding for us with love, and commissioning us for a special mission.

By Jay Ledbetter - From the title of this sermon you might expect Mr. Ledbetter to be referring to the time period after Jesus' ascension to heaven recorded in Acts 1. He starts the sermon in Acts 1, but quickly reminds us that this was actually Christ's second ascension. The first one came 40 days earlier when he
