Cannabis legalization is a voting issue. Undoubtedly, the legalization of marijuana will shape the 2020 election. With the economic fallout from the coronavirus crisis and social unrest following the murder of George Floyd by police, cannabis legalization will bring people to the polls this November. Calls for criminal justice reform and states looking to close budget gaps due to COVID-19 are more likely to consider the tax benefits of creating a newly legalized industry. Nowadays, my answer to everything is to vote. When you look at a candidate, think about whether he or she supports the modernization of cannabis laws, because that will tell you an awful lot about how they view issues associated with racism, immigration, taxes, banking, and more.
