Imagine you're six years old. You look out past a barbed wire fence at a highway in the desert, and every single car that passes by is driven by someone white. The teachers who come to your school? White. The guards in the towers above you, also white. And you think to yourself: is this America? Or is America out there? That child was John Tateishi. He was almost three years old when the U.S. government forced his entire family - along with 120,000 other Japanese Americans - from their homes and into concentration camps on American soil. His family ended up at Manzanar. And when the war ended, they were handed $25 and told to find their way home. What John did with that childhood - with that rage, that clarity, that love of country despite everything this country did to him - is an important story in American history, and honestly one that many adults may not have even learned in their history classes growing up. He went on to lead the Japanese American redress campaign, helping secure a formal government apology and reparations. He's the author of Redress: The Inside Story of the Successful Campaign for Japanese American Reparations. He shares a lot about what that fight means today - for the Black reparations movement, for anti-Asian hate, and for the question that sits at the center of all of it: Who gets to be American? As we move towards a celebration of America's birthday, that question sits front and center for many of us, as we're actively being told that we're not American. These stories show us not only how we reject that narrow view, but also how to fight for ourselves and one another while loving our communities, families, and country at the same time. What to listen for: John's personal experience as a young person incarcerated at Manzanar - and what it was like returning to society The makeup of Los Angeles in the post-war period - and how different communities banded together What John sees as the differences between the successful campaign he helped lead for Japanese American reparations and the hurdles facing Black Americans, starting with HR40. About John Tateishi: Incarcerated as a child in one of America's WWII concentration camps, John Tateishi carried that memory with him when he launched the Japanese American reparations campaign in 1978. He directed the public affairs and legislative strategies of the campaign until 1986, two years before the campaign ultimately culminated with the signing of the Civil Liberties Act. Ten years later, he led the JACL's challenge against the Bush administration's policies that targeted Arab and Muslim communities and undermined the civil liberties of all Americans. He is the author of Redress: The Inside Story of the Successful Campaign for Japanese American Reparations (2020).
DOCKET ALERTS: The Supreme Court issued orders today, opinions coming Thursday. The Wall Street Journal reports that Jeanine Pirro, the US Attorney for DC, is investigating banks for "debanking" conservatives. Judge James Boasberg benchslapped Pirro's effort to magic away his order quashing her abusive subpoena on the Federal Reserve. DOOFUS OF THE DAY: A judge in Mississippi disqualified all the lawyers in a case after finding that both sides cited fake cases hallucinated by AI. MAIN SHOW: The battle over the Kennedy Center continues. At the eleventh hour, the Center's Board appealed the order to take Trump's name off the building, citing a new rule that would strip all funding from the institution if Trump's name came down. The trial judge denied the requested stay, and so did the Circuit Court. Meanwhile, the Washington National Opera is suing the Kennedy Center for expropriating its $17 million endowment. In the Eastern District of Virginia, Judge Leonie Brinkema issued a preliminary injunction blocking the administration from implementing the Anti-Weaponization Fund whether under a new name or not. New reporting from Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in the New York Times reveals two revealing memos from White House advisor Will Scharf on suspending the writ of habeas corpus and the Insurrection Act. SUBSCRIBER BONUS: A federal judge in Massachusetts blocked Texas AG Ken Paxton's investigation into the Democratic fundraising platform ActBlue, holding that it was plainly retaliatory for its support for his Democratic Senate rival James Talarico. “Just because we can doesn't mean we should.” That's the line running through this straight talk on modern policing legitimacy and why public trust can evaporate even when everything is technically legal. We're digging into the gap between authority and judgment and why the public increasingly measures police work by necessity, fairness, and restraint, not just the statute book. We connect the dots between social media, cell phone video, and today's expectations: explain your actions, keep emotional control, and avoid turning routine encounters into power struggles. Traffic stops become the clearest example. Yes, proactive policing and interdiction can catch real criminals, but when a basic speeding stop turns into a fishing expedition without clear, articulable reasonable suspicion, the citizen experience changes fast. The question shifts from “What did I do?” to “Why am I being treated like a criminal?” and that's where legitimacy starts to crack. We also take on the hardest balancing act: officer safety versus overreach. Danger is real, but risk alone cannot justify unlimited intrusion. That tension gets even more complicated in Texas, where lawful firearm ownership is common. If a calm, law-abiding person discloses a legal gun and gets treated as automatically suspicious, we may be discouraging honesty and rewarding concealment. We close with a challenge that cuts through the noise: the true test isn't how much power police have, it's how carefully that power gets used. President Cyril Ramaphosa has filed papers in the Western Cape High Court, Cape Town seeking to interdict the commencement of the impeachment process pending the determination of his review against the section 89 independent panel report. Ramaphosa - in May - launched a review into the report which found that he MAY have a case to answer regarding the February 2020 robbery of foreign currency at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo. The review bid - which is set to be heard in September - seeks to invalidate the section 89 report itself, as well as any steps taken by the National Assembly pursuant to the report. Bongiwe Zwane spoke to legal expert Advocate Lufuno Nevondwe,
Today on Uncommon Sense, we're discussing the tragic state of the modern world. From the protests in Ireland to growing frustration across Western nations, many people feel as though their voices are no longer being heard by the institutions that claim to represent them. I'll share why I support the right of people to protest and why I believe the demonstrations in Ireland have resonated with so many people around the world. We'll also discuss what I see as a deeper spiritual crisis affecting modern society. Many of the political, cultural, and social problems we face today are symptoms of a broader moral and spiritual decline, one that cannot be solved through politics alone. In this episode:My thoughts on the protests in IrelandWhy so many citizens now feel disconnected from their governmentsThe growing divide between ordinary people and powerful institutionsThe role of faith, morality, and personal responsibility in rebuilding societyWhy I believe many of today's crises point to a deeper spiritual battleWhether you agree or disagree, this episode is an invitation to think critically about the direction of our culture, our governments, and our future.--https://www.youversion.com/bible-app

SONS of LIBERTY Radio with Bradlee Dean Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Hear Ye, Hear Ye: Public Judgment, Moral Crisis, and the Cost of Silence Public Abuse Allegations and Institutional Cover-Ups The episode opens with a prerecorded segment connecting the Penn State scandal and the Franklin cover-up through allegations of abuse, institutional silence, missing evidence, and the vulnerability of children served by charitable organizations. The segment presents these cases as examples of public trust being violated and argues that powerful individuals and institutions were protected while victims were left without justice. Historical Warnings and Biblical Government The program then moves into historical and religious quotations, including remarks attributed to Noah Webster, Thomas Jefferson, John Dickinson, Theodore Roosevelt, and other public figures. These segments frame the episode around the host's view that American civil government should be measured by biblical morality, constitutional limits, and public accountability rather than by the power of officials or institutions. Apathy, Entertainment, and Public Responsibility The host argues that Americans have become distracted by spectacle, entertainment, politics, and corporate influence while losing sight of liberty, justice, and civic vigilance. He compares modern public entertainment to historical forms of public spectacle and repeatedly warns that people who remain passive in a time of corruption help create the conditions for greater judgment, tyranny, and social disorder. Crime, Recidivism, and Judicial Failure A major theme of the episode is the host's claim that repeat offenders, weak courts, and delayed consequences are endangering the public. He presents recidivism statistics and multiple crime examples to argue that the justice system is failing victims, rewarding criminals, and generating money for institutional interests while neglecting what he describes as biblical justice and lawful consequence. Constitutional Rights and Corrupt Officials The episode also returns to constitutional government, especially the Second and Fourth Amendments, gun bans, confiscation concerns, and the responsibility of representatives to obey the Constitution. The host argues that citizens must not obey unconstitutional decrees and that public officials who violate constitutional limits should be lawfully removed rather than treated as rulers over the people. Religious Judgment, Political Influence, and Closing Appeal Near the end, the host discusses religious leaders, political figures, institutional deception, Freemasonry, intelligence influence, and the Epstein files as part of a broader argument that corruption survives because citizens and churches fail to bring lawful judgment. The closing appeal centers on the idea that people should not blame God for evil while refusing, in the host's view, to obey God's commandments and enforce justice. Franklin Coverup and Penn State Parallels The host opens the program by comparing the Franklin Coverup involving Larry King's alleged procurement of children from Boys Town for powerful figures and blackmail to the Jerry Sandusky scandal at Penn State where the Second Mile charity was used to abuse boys with university officials covering it up. Suspicious Deaths and Investigations Details are given of investigator Gary Carradori's plane explosion that scattered child pornography evidence seized by the FBI and the mysterious disappearance of district attorney Ray Grecar whose computer showed searches on destroying hard drives both tied to attempts to expose the abuse rings. Biblical and Historical Foundations Quotations from Noah Webster Thomas Jefferson John Dickinson and other founders are presented to argue that Christian biblical principles form the basis of American liberty morality and civil government while neglecting Scripture leads to vice crime and oppression. Modern Moral Decay and Pride Culture The host condemns tolerance of pride parades transgender issues and normalization of child sexual abuse citing Romans 1 and Amos 6:1 as warnings that such tolerance hastens God's judgment on the nation while Christians remain apathetic at ease in Zion. Media Bias Crime Recidivism and Immigration Examples of unreported black-on-white crimes by repeat offenders with dozens of prior arrests are contrasted with media focus on white perpetrators while Somali gang involvement in a Minnesota shooting is said to be covered up and blamed on a white suspect illustrating selective reporting and failed justice. Conspiracy Controlled Opposition and Call to Justice Discussions range from Steven Spielberg's films attacking Christianity and CIA influence in Hollywood to Epstein files Netanyahu visits Zionist use of Muslims and Turning Point USA figures including Erica Kirk Candace Owens and Frank Turek portrayed as controlled opposition or heretics while urging listeners to stand for biblical justice against workers of iniquity.
On May 6th my son and I testified on the Colorado Senate floor (online) against HB26-1335 ("Concerning Access to Abortion Medication Services on Colorado College Campuses"). This law requires colleges and universities (without a religious exemption) to make abortion drugs available on campus to any student who asks for a prescription.I first cover Colorado abortion laws from 2022-2025 to show how we got to this point. Today on Uncommon Sense, we're discussing what may be the most consequential political moment of Donald Trump's career. With Trump's approval ratings slipping, the Iran conflict escalating, renewed questions surrounding the Epstein files, and the assassination of Charlie Kirk continuing to reverberate through the conservative movement, many Americans are asking whether these events are isolated, or part of a much larger story. In this episode, I examine the connections I believe may exist between these developments, including my view that the Epstein files may have been used as leverage against powerful political figures and that foreign interests have exerted significant influence over American policy in the Middle East. We'll discuss:Trump's declining support among his baseThe growing controversy surrounding U.S. involvement with IranThe unanswered questions surrounding the Epstein filesThe political impact of Charlie Kirk's assassination and its aftermathWhy I believe these stories intersect in ways the mainstream media refuses to exploreMy goal is not to tell you what to think, but to encourage you to question narratives, follow incentives, and examine who benefits from the decisions being made in Washington.--https://www.bible.com/

Colorado's Parks and Wildlife Commission now has zero experienced big game hunters on it. The chair is a former Humane Society attorney who spent his career suing game agencies. Six of ten commissioners voted to impose a commercial fur ban that their own agency and director recommended against — in writing — with five expert witnesses and a hundred years of combined expertise. Dan Gates was in every one of those meetings.Dan Gates runs Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management and has been on the front lines of every major Colorado hunting fight for eight years — Proposition 127, Ordinance 308, wolf reintroduction, and now Initiative 302: a constitutional amendment to enshrine the right to hunt and fish in the Colorado State Constitution. We dig into what that right actually does, why 24 other states already have it, and how the Polis administration has strategically stacked the commission. We also cover two upcoming raffles — a Hill Ranch elk hunt and an Alaska salmon/halibut trip — that benefit CRWM's ground game on this fight. In this episode:What Initiative 302 actually says — and what it doesn't doWhy Colorado hunters don't currently have a constitutional right to huntHow Governor Polis stacks anti-hunting commissionersThe March commission meeting — agency scientists overruled by commissioners who said "our values differ from your science"Two commissioners forced to resign during Senate confirmation — what that meansWhy 24 other states already have this rightThe Hill Ranch elk raffle — 34 preference points required to draw, better odds in this raffle than the state drawAlaska salmon/halibut fishing raffle — Sitka, two people, Reel ChartersGuest: Dan Gates — Executive Director, Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management. savethehuntcolorado.comRaffle tickets: scicolorado.org — deadline June 12th, drawing June 15th. $50/ticket, 3 for $100.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/c.r.w.m/ ---FOLLOW CLIFFYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/CliffGrayInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/Cliffgry/Facebook - https://facebook.com/PursuitWithCliffPursuit With Cliff Podcasthttps://pursuitwithcliff.com/interviews-and-podcasts/Cliff's Hunt Planning and Strategy Membership https://pursuitwithcliff.com/membership/Hunt. On today's episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson, we discuss the political attacks surrounding Thomas Massie, growing concerns over foreign lobbying influence in American politics, and why millions of Americans feel their government no longer represents them.We also discuss the continued secrecy surrounding the Epstein case and why the American people are demanding full transparency, the complete unredacted Epstein files, and lawful accountability for every individual involved regardless of status or political connections. As corruption, manipulation, and moral decay continue spreading through powerful institutions, Americans must hold tightly to their God-given Constitutional rights, speak truth boldly, and refuse to surrender their freedoms out of fear.Truth matters. Justice matters. And no one should be above the law.--https://www.bible.com/

She's been self-consciously wearing some off-brand Crocs to ease her pain. Jackie (@Jackiekashian) is largely offended that Laurie is denying herself name-brand Crocs. Laurie also confesses her lack of a palate, a fact Jackie admits she already knows, simply by seeing any food she's ever eaten or described...Subscribe to the podcast, and give it a 5-star rating and review to help the show move up the charts. A live in-person performance of Sleeping with Celebrities? At a real theater, the Bayfront Theater, with lights and guests and an audience? At 5pm in the afternoon? Believe it because it happened. We ventured to the home of Rice-a-Roni, San Francisco to join comedy geniuses from all over at the SF Sketchfest. Hear actor John DiMaggio reveal the secrets of voiceover in a mellow voice that he's not used to using. Catch a rundown of warm springs with actor, comic, and memoirist Moshe Kasher. Tune into beautiful tunes from musical guest Meredith Edgar, who even covers Metallica in a duet with our host John Moe. John's daughter Margaret joins us onstage to try to fall asleep during the show - see if she succeeds. The show was taped in January and if you couldn't be there, well, you're here now. It turns out the McElroy family organization is the exact opposite of the Mafia in that we are known for being real goofs and also owe favors to a lot of people. I'm pretty sure you've been in this situation: you're in a group setting of consequence and importance. Maybe it's at work, maybe in school, but something is on the line. In that place are people different from you. They're of a different race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and you begin to worry about how you are being perceived. Are you an individual in everyone's eyes or are they seeing you for the group you represent? Does your behavior match the stereotype that exists for people like you in the eyes of these other folks? Claude Steele, distinguished social psychologist, calls this churn in his new book, Churn: The Tension That Divides Us and How to Overcome It. He says it can have an effect on your mental health, particular in the areas of depression and anxiety. Steele explains the fascinating research and experiments that led him to explore the idea of churn and offers ideas on how to stop feeling it and establish yourself as an individual. The things that happened when you were young, especially the really painful things, can easily and often carry into adulthood. For documentarian, former high-powered executive, and actual Mister Rogers neighbor Benjamin Wagner, an adult life of terrible stress and substance use issues wasn't really going to be solved until he understood more about the ripple effects of his parents' divorce and a severe assault that occurred at an early age. To learn more about that connection and similar issues that other people face all the time, Benjamin teamed up with his brother Christopher to create Friends and Neighbors, a documentary now available on PBS, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime. In this conversation, we dig into the trauma, the effects, and how to figure out how you got to where you are and where you're headed. We close out Max Fun Drive 2026 with some true pain. Stuart's proclaimed "least favorite movie," 40 DAYS AND 40 NIGHTS, a supposed "sexy romcom" that's actually a melange of unfunny shenanigans, poisonous attitudes, nothing that resembles actual human behavior, and (trigger warning) some unacknowledged sexual assault. It's... a lot. But at least it led to a funny episode -- like a flower, blooming from a pile of shit. One last time for 2026 -- the Max Fun Drive is literally what keeps this show going.
