Its a symphony of flat 6 perfection. Sam is the Owner/COO Twin Peaks - Oklahoma & Arkansas and plays a huge part in the car scene here in OKC. His Thursday Night Mega Meet on the third Thursday of every month is the second largest car show in the OKC Metro area and draws hundreds of cars to the parking lots surrounding Twin Peaks just off Memorial & May. On this episode of Random Car guys Mike and Heath are back in the seat after a brief stint away. Interviewing one of the best car writers in the world. Hannah Elliot. Hannah told us she's not a car person, but stumbled into writing about them. Growing up in Oregon in a very active family. Athletics was her childhood and she studied Journalism at Baylor University in Texas as a student athlete running track. Hannah left Texas and headed straight for NYC to chase her journalism dream. Growing up Hannah was fascinated with reading and writing and always wanted it to be her profession. With the help of some mentors she stumbled into the car world and tells us about the first time she was given the opportunity to drive a "supercar" A Lamborghini Aventador at Pebble Beach. I had another pinch me moment for the podcast. Sam Moore's an automotive photographer based in London UK. He's been on Gumball many times, Team Galag Snow Tour three times and many many other road trips. Sam also has a car podcast called “Car Chat” where he's done over 50 interviews with the world's best content creators and automotive journalists in the world. Sam's podcast is a huge inspiration to me and his photography is awesome. @sammooresphoto So to have Sam on our Random Car Guys podcast was a milestone for sure. One of Sam's cars is quite well know in the world's automotive community. Often referred to as F40 BLU. The only Ferrari F40 in navy (something) blue. It's INCREDIBLE and there are a few amazing videos of him ripping around town in it. Sam's story is pretty cool. He went to school with Tim Burton (SHMEE150) they then spent time in New Zealand as ski instructors. As Tim started to grow his social media and car journalism he invited Sam to the events to take photos. Sam's love of photography grew and grew and soon he became one of the best at high-end car photography. Allowing him to go on trips like GUMBALL 3000 as a content creator, which opened the doors to many other gigs, events, and person photo-shoots for car owners. Most likely if you own an exotic sport scar you want to have great photos to go with it. As well as the higher end dealerships that market their cars online. With the growth of social media, and more people buying cars site unseen off the Internet. Photography is how those cars are being sold. Sam also got into racing; he bought a Radical SR1 and decided to get his race license. He shared some great stories. He's had two pretty big shunts, which he dives into how and why they happened and then also talks about his future car buying ideas. His current line up is: daily driver Audi RS4, Porsche 70's resto mod, Porsche 997.2 GT3RS, Radical Race Car and Ferrari F40. He's looking to trade the GT3 RS for a GT3 Touring. Great choice in my eyes, both amazing cars but the touring is definitely more usable. Had a great time interviewing someone who I look up to for content ideas, podcasting and general cool car stuff. It was really nice to chat with a genuine human being for over an hour about cars. Goes to show that nobody is hard to reach, you've just got to keep following up until they reply. David Gwyther of DSC Death Spray Custom is an artist from West Wales. David grew up loving everything with an engine, his father was really into cars and always had something to work on in the garage. He would take David to the RAC rally in the Welsh countryside as a kid. David to rebel a little bit from his dads love of cars turned to bikes as well. Growing up David had a passion for graphic design and in 2008/9 after doing artwork as a hobby decided to go all in and become a full time artist. David has worked with some incredible people in the automotive world. The most known and most recent would be Ken Block. David designed the liveries for Kens Ford Focus Rally car, all 5 of Kens Gymkhana cars and the Hoonitruck for Climbkhana in Japan. Successful real estate agent and businessman who's the proud new owner of a fluorescent orange Mclaren 720s. Had it lowered recently and new Anarchy wheels are en route. Brett's got a great story and a real passion for cars. From building his first truck at 14 with his Dad to still having his first ever car to this day. A LT1 TransAm. Which no doubt he'll fully restore one day in the future. Great time sharing Brett's stories of how he dialy drove his Lamborghini Gallardo v10 6 speed manual car for two years, put 30k miles on it taking it to listing appointments all over the city. Let's just say people were thrilled to see him pull up in his Lambo and offer to take them for a ride. It made signing clients very easy and the car paid for itself. Thats just what cars do. Episode 003 of our Random Car Guys podcast. Lou Renova known as 405_photo on Instagram has a pretty awesome story. His title is marketing and content creator for Farmtruck & AZN. Lou is a phenomenal automotive photographer. Most people who get involved in photography are given a camera from a young age and grow with it. Lou's experience is a little different. Working for the FNA team one day slinging T shirts at the race meets. AZN says "grab my camera and take photos" from that day the camera hasn't left his possession. If you follow him on social media @405_photo you will see how good he is. He's a car guy just like many of us, grew up around them and always liked being a part of the car scene. Cruising around town with all his mates, trying to find local street races and being a car guy. Fast forward to today, Lou has traveled the world creating content for Farmtruck and AZN's social media pages. On this episode we sit down with JD Terry. JD is a local home builder here in OKC and absolutely loves cars! By no fault of his own he was born into it. His Dad has been building cars for 56 years so JD grew up around it and naturally became part of his life. He doesn't keep his cars very often but if you see him down the road or see his Instagram you'll see his cars are awesome! Lots of old school muscle cars.
