ECD Automotive Design CEO Scott Wallace joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share news the company is gearing up for an exciting year ahead in 2024 as the first publicly-traded "restomod" company. Firstly, ECD anticipates a strong financial performance for 2024 with revenue projected to be $33 million, an impressive increase of over 50% compared to anticipated 2023 revenue of $22 million, and gross margins expected to be 35%in 2022 to 38% in 2024. One notable achievement is that ECD's core Defender North production line is already completely sold out for 2024. This, combined with the introduction of the Jaguar E-Type and an undisclosed new model on the South production line, means that ECD has already secured binding orders of over 80% of its total 2024 production capacity. To accommodate this increasing demand, ECD plans to add another manufacturing line to its Rover Dome facility in Kissimmee, Florida. This expansion aligns with its commitment to sustainable growth and positions the company for long-term success. ECD's growth plans also include consolidating the ecosystem that surrounds the luxury auto client. This is a $15 billion industry that is highly fragmented. In addition to these exciting developments, ECD has unveiled Project QE, a stunning Defender 110 that seamlessly blends modern amenities with classic British heritage. This vehicle boasts a powerful LT1 V8 engine with 450 horsepower, making it not only visually striking but also a high-performing daily driver. With its classic grille, bumper, and 6-point roll cage, Project QE pays homage to its English roots while offering a comfortable and powerful driving experience. All in all, ECD Automotive Design is poised for a prosperous 2024, driven by strong demand for its customized vehicles and a commitment to quality and innovation. #proactiveinvestors #ecdautodesign #nasdaq #ecda #LuxuryCars #CustomVehicles #AutomotiveInnovation #CarEnthusiasts #VehicleTransformation #UniqueDesigns #LuxuryLifestyle #CarCustomization #BritishCars #SUVMakeover #AutoTech #InnovativeDesign #ClientDrivenExperience #ExclusiveCars #AutomotivePassion #CEOInterview #LuxuryVehicleMarket #FutureofAutomotive #CarUpgrades #IconicBritishCars #YouTubeInterview #AutoIndustryInsights #FinancialOutlook #CarDesignProcess #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews
In this podcast episode, we have the honor of welcoming Maurizio Corbi to this digital stage. Maurizio is the Senior Designer at Pininfarina. Anyone in our community working with car design will immediately recognize Maurizio and his legendary achievements in the design world. For everyone else, here's a brief overview. Car design has been Maurizio's lifelong passion, and it wasn't enough for him to merely design cars – he wanted to design Ferrari cars. His first Ferrari project was the F116 (F456 GT) project, and his interior proposal was chosen. Then, in 1990, the iconic F50 emerged. The design process was unique, as Ferrari selected different elements and parts from the proposals of the entire team. In the end, Mr. Ramaciotti, the Director of Pininfarina Studies & Research at that time, built a unified proposal that featured a significant part of Maurizio's work. In 1992, Ferrari assigned his team the project to restyle the F348. From this exercise, Ferrari selected Maurizio's proposals for the front and the side, giving birth to the F355 (Project F129). In December of the same year, he began the first sketches to define what later became the F550 Maranello (F131A). Over the decades, Maurizio has consulted on numerous projects, with a more recent contribution to the front end of the California in 2008. All in all, Maurizio is perhaps the only designer in the world who has designed the most Ferrari cars. Join us as we dive into the evolution of Ferrari's iconic designs, exploring the delicate balance between tradition and innovation. We discuss insights into sustainable car design, navigating the changing landscape of mobility, and envisioning a future where elegance seamlessly merges with environmental consciousness. As in every episode, you will have many opportunities to learn from Maurizio, not only about car design but also about his personal lessons learned along the way. Enjoy!

The Father of Automotive Design: Celebrating Harley Earl's Legacy on His BirthdayToday, we celebrate the birthday of a pioneer whose influence has left an indelible mark on the automotive industry – Harley Earl. Born on November 22, 1893, in Los Angeles, California, Earl became a trailblazer in the industry, earning the title of the "Father of Automotive Design" for his revolutionary contributions.Harley J. Earl's journey into the world of automobiles began in the early 20th century. His father, J.W. Earl, operated a coach-building shop in LA, exposing young Harley to the intricacies of automotive craftsmanship. Earl's keen interest and innate artistic talent, along with the family business, led him to pursue a career in car design, eventually catching the eye of General Motors (GM) founder William C. Durant. In 1927, Harley Earl joined General Motors, marking the beginning of a transformative era in automotive design. Earl's appointment as the head of GM's Art and Color Section signaled a paradigm shift. He introduced the concept of "styling" to the automotive world, emphasizing the importance of aesthetics alongside functionality.Under Earl's leadership, the 1927 LaSalle became the first production car to feature stylistic input from an in-house design team, setting the stage for a new era of automotive elegance. Earl's vision went beyond mere functionality – he believed cars should be works of art, capturing the spirit of the times. One of Harley Earl's most iconic contributions was the introduction of tailfins in the 1948 Cadillac. Inspired by World War II fighter planes, these sleek and distinctive fins became synonymous with post-war American automotive design. Earl's daring innovations set trends that influenced the industry for decades.Earl's creative genius extended beyond Cadillac to other GM brands like Chevrolet, Buick, and Oldsmobile. The '50s and '60s saw the birth of iconic models such as the Chevrolet Corvette and the Buick Riviera, solidifying GM's position as a leader in automotive design.Harley Earl retired from General Motors in 1958, leaving behind a legacy that transformed the automotive landscape. His impact on the industry was not just about designing cars; it was about shaping the very culture of American automobiles. Earl's emphasis on design as a driving force in the automotive world paved the way for future generations of designers to consider form as much as function.Harley Earl's birthday serves as a reminder of the enduring legacy of a man whose creative vision transformed the automotive industry. From the introduction of stylistic design to the iconic tailfin era, Earl's impact is woven into the fabric of American automotive history. So, as we honor the "Father of Automotive Design" on his 130th birthday, let's reflect on the beauty and artistry that he brought to the world of cars, shaping an industry that continues to captivate us to this day.www.nodrivingloves.com#cars #car #collectorcars #oldcars #cartalk #electriccars #ev #hotrod #carhistory #automotivehistory #automobile #thisdayinautomotivehistory #thisdayinhistory #classiccars #onthisday #NaPodPoMo #ithappenedtoday #design #harleyearl #fatherofautomotivedesign
"Efficiency" has consumed the automotive industry. Perhaps "brainwashed" is a better word. And while efficiency an important measurable & should certainly be the driving-force of SOME models... it doesn't have to be the primary regulating factor in ALL models. So while we all want an efficient vehicle... what's it costing us? And why is there little-to-no tolerance for some common-sense compromise & simplification??

Everybody knows cars are becoming more like computers than mechanical devices. Few know this better than Mark Allen, Global Vehicle Chief Engineer at GM, a company that's been defining the American automotive business for a century. As an engineer who is also a car nut raised in the heart of American automotive manufacturing, Mark has a long view on the history and challenges of vehicle design. The engineering that goes into making modern cars has changed enormously, to the point that Mark claims there are few purely mechanical systems left as electromechanical systems take over. This trend has also resulted in a blending of mechanical and electrical engineering tasks and skill sets, to the point that Mark says they barely distinguish between the two disciplines on the job. But, no matter what field they hail from, he says, engineers will never stop perfecting their craft, which is why the automotive industry has the performance and safety it does today. In this episode of Moore's Lobby, catch conversation between Daniel and Mark about: How new technologies like backup cams evolve from novelties to luxuries to expected to mandated The cost of electronics in modern cars (and why that's harder to quantify than you might think) Designing cars vs. designing smartphones and how durability impacts product lifespan Mark's pure love of automotive carries through in this episode as he explains the lofty goals of the automotive industry, the difference having an EE CEO can make, and the (sometimes literal) highs and lows of vehicle testing.
