Childhood friends from Ottawa, Marisa and Jay have come back together in the big smoke to talk depression, anxiety and how to fake a smile while paying Toronto rent prices. With half the shoes and twice the drama welcome to Sad and the City
Well friends it has been fun. I'm sad to announce this will be the final episode of Sad and the City. Marisa and I hope that everyone has enjoyed our little project to help others while helping ourselves. Through this journey I have grown so much. From a pissed off transplant from Ottawa to a less pissed off local who enjoys a nice conversation and coffee at a local spot over scrolling through social media (If you haven't already noticed all of our social media accounts have been deleted). Get out, connect in person, connect in a conversation on the phone, hear the persons voice, feel their energy as you connect. As we did on this show. Now the final episode finishes as it started...with childhood friends sitting around the table having a conversation...connecting.Thank you.Love Always,Jay
If there really is a taller, more handsome version of Andrew Lizotte, then I don't wanna hear about it. I'd rather listen to our guest...he's funnier, guaranteed.
Marisa goes it alone with the questions and sits down with a SUPER special guest. Probably the best guest to date. Just sayin'.
I mean I could tell you how lovely Candace is as she discusses her life with mental health issues but I think the most significant thing is that this episode was released two weeks after the last one.....as promised. Go Me!
Marisa and Jay are back with the sweet and funny Leah Speller to discuss the ongoing work her mental health journey takes to stay on top of her mental health.
Fellow Junker, Lucas Keys, joins Jay and Marisa to talk about his depression going back to early childhood and the power of escapism to become the wise 24 year old he is today.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Isaac Towell to talk depression, anxiety, and drinking taking priority over EVERYTHING!!!
Marisa and Jay are back at it again in this welcome back conversation with a twist. They're outside. That's the twist. You find that out pretty much immediately, after the opening song.
Alright folks, this is the final episode of season one. What a wild ride from a shitty microphone in a den of my old condo to a less shitty but still kind of shitty microphone in the kitchen of my newish condo. We were lucky enough to make it on BlogTO and even luckier to have such amazing guests join us on our journey of growth and discovery. If you want to be on season two please reach out to Marisa or me anytime. We're gonna be way for on top of getting interviews lined up and I will actually edit and release them every two weeks. I have to. I even say it at the end of this episode.Peace Out.-Jay
Marisa and Jay sit down with their final guest in the penultimate episode of the season, John Mostyn. They talk about 10 day silent retreats, addiction, and Trainspotting. Ok not Trainspotting but a little bit about being Scottish. Enjoy.
Kel Bennett sits down with Jay and Marisa to talk about being ‘fat, queer and crazy’ (Kel’s words, not ours!). They talk gender dysphoria, life under the trans umbrella, and their generalized anxiety disorder.
Marisa and Jay sit down with the very funny and wandering mind of Jeremy Dobski. Ever seen the movie Inception? Just when you start to think where are they going with this BAM! Knowledge dropped on you.
Apparently Marisa only knows men who are better looking than me. Anyways here's Sam Seguin with some really insightful life experience with PTSD and anxiety.
Marisa and Jay sit down with the Bettino's. Yes, THOSE Bettino's. The people who shaped Marisa into the lovely human being she is today and even had a hand in helping Jay grow up...if that's possible.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Josh Martin to talk gravity blankets, pets, and the importance of staying hygienic through mental illness.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Bethany Daniels to discuss seasonal affective disorder and Jay mixes up guest last names. It's a good one.
Marisa and Jay are back and sexier than ever....well we're back anyways.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Tracy Hamilton who lives fibromyalgia and depression. She also takes business showers. Shut up and listen because she's got some good advice.
Marisa and Jay sit down sans guest to discuss their highs and lows of summer, what the podcast has done for them, and what they're going to do as they take a month off from the podcast.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Marisa's bestie to put the Hollywood idea of OCD to bed, and find out a barista might be the best hire for your company.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Jay's tattoo artist to discuss bipolar 2, tattoos, and ALL the puppies. Also Marisa says "fuck" more than Jay in this episode. Just sayin'.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Christophe Davidson to talk about manic episodes, cool grandmas and how Tai Chi can be done anywhere....we mean anywhere.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Toronto cinematographer, Andrew Ventura, as he guides them through his anxiety, work life and tries to help them lock down a big name endorsement deal.
Marisa and Jay talk about how the podcast came to be before diving into their individual stories and experiences with depression.
Marisa and Jay sit down with Toronto stand-up comedian Meg Mackay to talk depression, Netflix binging and domain names.
