In this week's podcast - the only podcast to cover exclusively club rugby in Scotland - Stuart and Dale look ahead to Saturday's matches.  As always, we'd like to thank the following clubs for supporting the podcast - Hawick, Marr, Selkirk, Jedforest, Kelso, Glasgow Hawks, Ayr, Melrose, Gala, Peebles, Stirling County, Berwick and Stewart's-Melville.  You can hear from these clubs in every episode of the podcast throughout the season when they have matches. In the Premiership this Saturday, Jedforest host local rivals Kelso looking for their first win of the season. After last week's great result at home to Currie, Kelso are in the driving seat to grab the fourth play-off spot in the Premiership. Rugby Radio will be coming live from Riverside Park for full commentary of that game. Heriot's Blues are also in contention for that fourth spot after losing at home to Hawick last weekend, but they have a good chance of putting pressure on Kelso if they can beat Glasgow Hawks at Goldenacre.  The Bill McLaren Shield is up for grabs as Selkirk defend the trophy at home to Hawick, who are now home and hosed and will top the table at the end of the 18 matches. That should mean they will be Scottish Premiership Champions but that's not the case in this league - the four top teams have to go through a play-off scenario to decide the title - something Stuart is dead against, and something Dale loves.  The two debate this in a heated discussion at the start of the show!  Also in the Premiership Currie host Edinburgh Accies and Musselburgh play Marr at Stoneyhill. In National 1 Champions Ayr have finished their campaign and can sit back and see who comes second, but there's only bragging rights at stake for that. Down the bottom end the race is on as to whether GHK or Dundee will be relegated. We look at the four matches being played in that division on Saturday. In National 2 Peebles and Falkirk aren't giving an inch with both claiming good bonus point wins last weekend. Peebles are away at Stirling County on Saturday while Falkirk welcome Berwick to Sunnyside.  With Aberdeen Grammar not playing Berwick have the chance to get some more points to stretch clear of Aberdeen using their game in hand, while Stew-Mel play Gordonians. In National 3 and 4 this Saturday eyes will be on Preston Lodge v Orkney - a win for Preston Lodge  will mean they take a massive step towards the title, although they can't win it this Saturday.  In National 4 Garnock remain the only team unbeaten in National Rugby this season, and should be too strong for North Berwick as they march on to try and gain promotion in their first National League season. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear two and a half hours of live rugby direct from Riverside Park, with full commentary of the Premiership game between Jedforest and Kelso, plus live score updates from across the country. We are on air from 2.30pm to 5pm. Don't forget to check out highlights of that game on Sunday on Borders Rugby TV at www.bordersrugby.net and YouTube, plus action from Selkirk v Hawick also in the Premiership. You can get in touch with the show at podcast@bordersrugby.net Support the show (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2237229/support)Remember to join Stuart Cameron and Dale Clancy for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.Support the showSupport the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

In the Premiership this Saturday, Heriot's Blues take on Hawick in a game which is a must-win for both teams, so something must give. Hawick are at the top of the table leading by 9 points and need a win to guarantee a home semi final in the play-offs, while Heriot's Blues are also wanting valuable points in their bid to make the play-offs. Meanwhile Kelso v Currie has a similar scenario with Currie after a home semi final place and Kelso looking to beat Heriot's Blues into the fourth place spot at Poynder Park.  In the other games in that division Edinburgh Accies host Selkirk knowing that a win for the City side could give them an outside chance of a play-off spot too, while Marr host Jedforest and Glasgow Hawks welcome Musselburgh to Balgray. In National 1 Champions Ayr have now lost two games in a row after going through the season unbeaten, and will complete their league season away at Highland. The only unsettled matter in this division is who will be relegated from GHK and Dundee, who sit ninth and tenth adrift from everyone else. This Saturday Dundee have a tough trip to face second placed Melrose while on Friday night GHK will play in a local derby at Old Anniesland against GHA.  Biggar play Watsonians and Gala face Glasgow Accies in the other two games in NL1. In National 2 the fight goes on for promotion. Peebles sit at the top of the table but only have a one point lead over Kirkcaldy. Newton Stewart and Lasswade are the only other two teams with an outside chance of filling that one promotion spot. This Saturday Falkirk are at home to Kirkcaldy while Peebles take on Berwick at The Gytes. For both Falkirk and Peebles they need to gain maximum points, while Berwick are five points clear of Aberdeen Grammar at the bottom of the table with a game in hand with the two clubs likely to be the only teams in danger of the drop.  Aberdeen Grammar will visit neighbours Gordonians to see if they can close the gap on Berwick and also enjoy bragging rights locally.  In the other two matches in NL2 Stew-Mel host Newton Stewart and Stirling County welcome Lasswade. In National 3 and 4 this Saturday eyes will be on Preston Lodge, Howe of Fife and Orkney at the top end of the table in NL3 while Garnock, the only unbeaten team in national club rugby in Scotland, hope to make it 13/13 away at Perthshire in NL4. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Goldenacre, Edinburgh, with full commentary of the Premiership game between Heriot's Blues and Hawick with second half commentary of Kelso v Currie scheduled, plus live score updates from across the country. Melrose haven't won there for six years but have already beaten their rivals twice this season and are hoping for a hat-trick. In National 1 the big game is between table-toppers Peebles and third placed Newton Stewart, while at the other end Berwick (9th) and Aberdeen Grammar (10th) face off at Scremerston in a game which could well decide who is relegated at the end of the season. They are both on 15 points but Berwick have a game in hand. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from The Gytes, Peebles, with full commentary of the National 2 fixture between Peebles and Newton Stewart, plus live score updates from across the country. In this week's podcast - the only podcast to cover exclusively club rugby in Scotland - Stuart and Dale look ahead to Saturday's matches on the first weekend of 2024.  There's also an exclusive interview with Matty Douglas, Head Coach of Hawick, the current Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup champions who go into the new year at the top of the table. In the Premiership this Saturday, there are two matches in the Premiership, and both are vital clashes.  Hawick visit Malleny Park to take on Currie in a 1st v 3rd battle, while Kelso are aiming for a top four finish to get into the play-offs in their first season in the top flight this century. They visit Balgray to face Glasgow Hawks. In National 1 Ayr have been crowned champions with a 14/14 success in all their games this season. They are at home to Highland this Saturday trying to make it a perfect 15 against the third-paced team, but Biggar play Gala and there's a local derby in Glasgow between GHA and Glasgow Accies at Braidholm. While there's nothing happening in Nationals 2 and 4 this weekend, there is a game in National 3 between Allan Glen's (3rd) and Howe of Fife (4th) and you feel that whoever loses this one will struggle to catch Preston Lodge and Orkney who are holding down the top two positions at the moment. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear two and a half hours of live rugby direct from Balgray with full commentary of the Premiership fixture between Glasgow Hawks and Kelso, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews. We are on air from 1.30pm to 4pm. Don't forget to check out highlights on Sunday of that game on Borders Rugby TV at www.bordersrugby.net and YouTube. You can get in touch with the show at podcast@bordersrugby.net Support the show (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2237229/support)Remember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday for the rest of the season.Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

In this week's podcast - the only podcast to cover exclusively club rugby in Scotland - Stuart and Dale look ahead to Saturday's matches and look back at last weekend's results. You can hear from these clubs in every episode of the podcast throughout the season. In the Premiership, the Kelso v Marr match stands out as perhaps the most competitive. No game for Hawick or Edinburgh Accies this weekend but Currie and Glasgow Hawks will do battle for the second time in seven days, while the Bill McLaren Shield is up for grabs at Stoneyhill where Selkirk are the visitors to Musselburgh. In National 1 Ayr need just 3 points to win the league title as champions before Christmas against bottom club GHK, which would cap a remarkable unbeaten season, while at the other end of the table Dundee's home game against Melrose could be crucial for them. National 2 is very competitive but Peebles' win against Falkirk last Saturday has put them at the top of the table, and with Newton Stewart surprisingly losing at bottom club Aberdeen Grammar, and with Lasswade not playing last weekend, it's now in the hands of Peebles if they keep on winning, but this Saturday they visit Lasswade and the result of this game could play a big part in who will gain promotion. National 3 has top of the table Preston Lodge and Orkney still battling it out to win promotion - both are away this weekend - while things are also getting interesting at the bottom end of the table too with Dumfries, West of Scotland, Cartha QP and Hamilton all in danger.National 4's Garnock will be hoping their game goes ahead on Saturday - they haven't played for a month but are unbeaten in all 10 matches they've contested so far. At the bottom three teams will make the drop so plenty of interest at that level. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Hawthornden with full commentary of the National 2 fixture between Lasswade and Peebles, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews. You can hear from these clubs in every episode of the podcast throughout the season. In the Premiership, the Marr v Edinburgh Accies game looks very interesting with Marr chasing Hawick for first place, but table-toppers Hawick have a home match against Jedforest, who are winless at the bottom of the pile and it would be a major shock if they can beat the Greens on their home patch, something no club has done since October 2019.  Glasgow Hawks have never beaten Currie in a Premiership game but they'll have a chance to beat the third-placed side at Balgray. In National 1 Ayr are still unbeaten after 12 games and welcome Gala to Millbrae. Ayr are 19 points ahead at the top and are unlikely to be caught, but the relegation battle between 10th side GHK and 9th team Dundee could be very interesting with just six games left to play in the league for both of them. National 2 is very competitive right now with Falkirk on 47, Peebles 46, Newton Stewart 45 and Lasswade 43, so Peebles v Falkirk looks very tasty indeed. National 3 has top of the table Preston Lodge visiting the fourth team in the table, Howe of Fife, but unbeaten Orkney welcome Boroughmuir to their patch on what could be their 11th win in a row this season. Allan Glen's are likely to be too strong for Dumfries on the road to keep up the pressure on the two clubs above them. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Philiphaugh with full commentary of the Premiership fixture between Selkirk and Kelso, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews. Don't forget to check out highlights on Sunday of that game on Borders Rugby TV at www.bordersrugby.net and YouTube. You can get in touch with the show at podcast@bordersrugby.net Support the show (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2237229/support)Remember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.Support the show (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2237229/support)Stuart Cameron and Dale Clancy bring the podcast to you every Thursday so make sure you subscribe so you won't miss an episode.Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

The weather forecast is grim for the weekend with icy temperatures but we are hoping that most of the games will go ahead. This includes Kelso v Marr as the West Coast team hope to get back-to-back scalps in the Borders. In National 1 Ayr are still unbeaten after 12 games and travel to Watsonians but our commentary game is one of the great Border derbies on the calendar between Gala and Melrose at Netherdale. Full commentary on that match will be on Rugby Radio at www.rugbyradio.co.uk on Saturday from 1.30pm. National 2 this week sees the top four teams in the table playing against lowly opposition so unless there's a slip-up, Falkirk, Peebles, Lasswade and Newton Stewart should get through Saturday with good wins. National 3 is where a tasty looking top of the table clash is happening between Preston Lodge and Orkney.  Preston lodge's only defeat this season was by one single point at Orkney, who are unbeaten with a game in hand. Can PL get their revenge? We hear from both clubs in this edition ahead of the match. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Netherdale with full commentary of the National 1 fixture between Gala and Melrose, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews. Don't forget to check out highlights on Sunday of Gala v Melrose and Kelso v Marr on Borders Rugby TV at www.bordersrugby.net and YouTube. You can get in touch with the show at podcast@bordersrugby.net Support the show (https://www.buzzsprout.com/2237229/support)Remember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

There's also the usual heated debate about the play-off system and Dale talks dirty with the subject of poo on the pitch!  Don't ask!! You can hear from these clubs in every episode of the podcast throughout the season. In the Premiership, all games are now crucial as we head towards the Christmas break. Leaders Hawick welcome fourth placed Edinburgh Accies while second-placed Marr travel to bogie team Selkirk. The Bill McLaren Shield is up for grabs and Jedforest have a chance to win something this season as they go in search of their first win at Stoneyhill taking on Musselburgh. Heriot's Blues v Currie is an intriguing Edinburgh derby while Glasgow Hawks host Kelso in the bottom half of the division. In National 1 Ayr are the runaway leaders with 11 wins out of 11 - their head coach Grant Anderson is preparing for the visit of Melrose to Millbrae while Stuart popeed down to the Greenyards to have a chat with their head coach Iain Chisholm, who takes a pop at Dale (everyone else does so why not him as well?). National 2 will see Falkirk and Peebles look to leap over Lasswade this weekend to reclaim top position with Lasswade having a week off along with Stirling County who both have a game in hand on all other clubs. National 3 is having a week off as it's a standby date while in National 4 Garnock hope to preserve their unbeaten record against North Berwick. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Millbrae with full commentary of the National 1 fixture between unbeaten table-toppers Ayr and Melrose, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews with members of Ayr Rugby Club, finding out what the future lives for the club. Don't forget to check out highlights on Sunday of Ayr v Melrose and Selkirk v Marr on Borders Rugby TV at www.bordersrugby.net and YouTube.  You can get in touch with the show at podcast@bordersrugby.net Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

At the bottom end of the table it's a crucial game at Riverside Park between Jedforest and Selkirk.  17 points separate the two clubs and a win for Jedforest is essential if they're to keep their Premiership ambitions alive.  We hear from coaches of both clubs, David Grieve (Jed) and Sesh Henderson (Selkirk). In National 1 Ayr are the runaway leaders with 10 wins out of 10 - their head coiach Grant Anderson gives us an update on his thoughts as his team closes in on promotion.National 2 is far more competitive - Five teams are still in contention in the top half of the table with Lasswade currently on top, but have played one more game than the other four.  Newton Stewart are on a roll winning their last seven matches. It's another important weekend for all the clubs in that league.National 3 sees Preston Lodge on top but Orkney (in second spot) are still unbeaten. Howe of Fife and Allan Glen's aren't far behind these two in another wide open contest for that one promotion spot, while in National 4 it's Garnock with a clean sweep of nine straight bonus point victories who are getting all the headlines.  Could they do what Marr have done in coming from the regional leagues right up to the very top table? We discuss that.On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Riverside Park with full commentary of the relegation battle between Jedforest and Selkirk in the Premiership, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews from the Hawick 150th Anniversary dinner on Friday night with Stuart McFarlane.Don't forget to check out highlights on Sunday of Jedforest v Selkirk and Kelso v Hawick on Borders Rugby TV at www.bordersrugby.net and YouTube. You can get in touch with the show at podcast@bordersrugby.net Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

Can Marr inflict a first home defeat on Hawick since October 2019 when Glasgow Hawks pulled off the trick?  We hear from both Head Coaches, Matty Douglas (Hawick) and Kenny Diffenthal (Marr).National 1 sees Ayr still undefeated after nine games, but after Ayr's victory at Glasgow Accies last weekend only Highland are realistically in the frame to challenge them.National 2 is brewing up nicely with five teams competitive at the top end of the table, while in National 3 Preston Lodge are in front but Orkney are still unbeaten with a game in hand in second place and you can't rule out Howe of Fife and Allan Glen's who are challenging for top spot by the end of the season. In National 4 it's currently a one-horse race with Garnock still unbeaten and scoring try bonuses in every game they've played. We hear from many of the Coaches and Directors of Rugby at some of the clubs playing national rugby in Scotland and if you want to stay in touch on Saturday with all the latest happenings in Club Rugby north of the border then tune in to Rugby Radio from 1.30pm to 5pm with Stuart Cameron and the team (available at www.rugbyradio.co.uk) with live commentary from Hawick v Marr and coverage of other matches up and down the country.  You can watch highlights of Hawick v Marr on Borders Rugby TV on Sunday, available online at YouTube.podcast@bordersrugby.net if you have the need to contact the programme.Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.

Stuart Cameron and Dale Clancy cast their eyes over last weekend's depleted programme of matches across the five divisions of national club rugby with the first bout of bad weather of the season landing in Scotland.Just the one club remains with a 100% record so congratulations to Garnock, but there are other unbeaten sides with Ayr (NL1), Allan Glen's and Orkney (both NL3) with wins in all their games so far this season.Lasswade lost their own unbeaten record in NL2 last Saturday at home to Gordonians, and with Peebles, in second place, also falling at the hands of Newton Stewart in the same division, things are opening up in that league. In the Premiership Marr extended their lead with a victory at Raeburn Place against Edinburgh Accies, and with Currie not playing due to a waterlogged pitch, it left the door open for Hawick to slide into second place after they won at Jedforest.Plenty to look forward to this weekend as well, and you'll hear from many of the clubs' coaches on this podcast, the only podcast to cover Scottish Club Rugby exclusively.Rugby Radio this week will cover a Premiership match live, so tune in at RugbyRadio.co.uk for that on Saturday at 2.30pm all the way through til 5pm with updates from around the grounds.Support the showRemember to join Stuart Cameron and the team at Rugby Radio for our Scottish Club Rugby Podcast every Thursday.
