This episode explores the heart-wrenching case of Keith Green, a man who vanished under mysterious circumstances in 2016, only for his remains to be discovered later. The investigation into his disappearance uncovers a complicated tapestry of interpersonal relationships, financial conflicts, and profound betrayal, prominently featuring his ex-girlfriend Tiffany Lee and her current partner Kaveh Bayat. The intricate dynamics between these individuals suggest that they may have played significant roles in the events leading to Keith's tragic fate. Despite substantial evidence implying their involvement in Keith's disappearance and subsequent death, both Tiffany Lee and Kaveh Bayat were acquitted during a trial that raised serious concerns about the efficacy of the legal system. The proceedings exposed numerous flaws in the investigative and judicial processes, prompting critical discussions about how such cases are handled by law enforcement and the courts. As the trial unfolded, it became clear that the complexities of the case extended beyond mere facts, highlighting the often ambiguous nature of evidence and the challenges of achieving justice. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Sources for Episode: News Articles ABC7 News "The disappearance of Millbrae resident Keith Green" - Date: December 20, 2019. In late July, voters in the city of Millbrae, in northern San Mateo County, overwhelmingly recalled 2 of their 5 city councilmembers. It's a fight that started nearly a year ago, when former Councilmembers Angelina Cahalan and Maurice Goodman declined to publicly oppose a permanent supportive housing project. KQED's Adhiti Bandlamudi tells us how that dispute snowballed into yet another recall election in the Bay Area. Your support makes KQED podcasts possible. In this week's podcast - the only podcast to cover exclusively club rugby in Scotland - Stuart and Dale look ahead to Saturday's matches. As always, we'd like to thank the following clubs for supporting the podcast - Hawick, Marr, Selkirk, Jedforest, Kelso, Glasgow Hawks, Ayr, Melrose, Gala, Peebles, Stirling County, Berwick and Stewart's-Melville. You can hear from these clubs in every episode of the podcast throughout the season. In the Premiership, the Marr v Edinburgh Accies game looks very interesting with Marr chasing Hawick for first place, but table-toppers Hawick have a home match against Jedforest, who are winless at the bottom of the pile and it would be a major shock if they can beat the Greens on their home patch, something no club has done since October 2019. Glasgow Hawks have never beaten Currie in a Premiership game but they'll have a chance to beat the third-placed side at Balgray. In National 1 Ayr are still unbeaten after 12 games and welcome Gala to Millbrae. Ayr are 19 points ahead at the top and are unlikely to be caught, but the relegation battle between 10th side GHK and 9th team Dundee could be very interesting with just six games left to play in the league for both of them. National 2 is very competitive right now with Falkirk on 47, Peebles 46, Newton Stewart 45 and Lasswade 43, so Peebles v Falkirk looks very tasty indeed. National 3 has top of the table Preston Lodge visiting the fourth team in the table, Howe of Fife, but unbeaten Orkney welcome Boroughmuir to their patch on what could be their 11th win in a row this season. Allan Glen's are likely to be too strong for Dumfries on the road to keep up the pressure on the two clubs above them. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Philiphaugh with full commentary of the Premiership fixture between Selkirk and Kelso, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews. In this week's podcast - the only podcast to cover exclusively club rugby in Scotland - Stuart and Dale discuss last weekend's results and look ahead to Saturday's matches. There's also the usual heated debate about the play-off system and Dale talks dirty with the subject of poo on the pitch! Don't ask!! In the Premiership, all games are now crucial as we head towards the Christmas break. Leaders Hawick welcome fourth placed Edinburgh Accies while second-placed Marr travel to bogie team Selkirk. The Bill McLaren Shield is up for grabs and Jedforest have a chance to win something this season as they go in search of their first win at Stoneyhill taking on Musselburgh. Heriot's Blues v Currie is an intriguing Edinburgh derby while Glasgow Hawks host Kelso in the bottom half of the division. In National 1 Ayr are the runaway leaders with 11 wins out of 11 - their head coach Grant Anderson is preparing for the visit of Melrose to Millbrae while Stuart popeed down to the Greenyards to have a chat with their head coach Iain Chisholm, who takes a pop at Dale (everyone else does so why not him as well?). National 2 will see Falkirk and Peebles look to leap over Lasswade this weekend to reclaim top position with Lasswade having a week off along with Stirling County who both have a game in hand on all other clubs. National 3 is having a week off as it's a standby date while in National 4 Garnock hope to preserve their unbeaten record against North Berwick. On Rugby Radio this weekend at www.rugbyradio.co.uk you can hear three and a half hours of live rugby direct from Millbrae with full commentary of the National 1 fixture between unbeaten table-toppers Ayr and Melrose, plus live score updates from across the country and interviews with members of Ayr Rugby Club, finding out what the future lives for the club. Happy Filipino History Month!!! I was born, raised, and work in San Francisco, but I actually currently live one mile south of SF in a heavily Filipino suburb called Daly City! That said, I find it strange that I've never gone to a sit down Filipino restaurant before... until now! We also tried something else new this week! We recorded on location inside a restaurant! It was a bit noisy, but it was a good learning experience, and perhaps we'll have more "in situ" recordings in the future! Vlogger Anne, Glenn, and I tried Pampanguena Cuisine on Mission Street in San Francisco, recommended by Glenn, and it did not disappoint! Anne loves Patio Filipino in Millbrae for their sisig and pretty much everything or Lechon Manila in Union City for the crispy roast pork. I love Fil-Am for their quick and cheap meat skewers that will only cost you a few bucks, but will satisfy your sweet and savory cravings! For sweets, Anne recommends House of Silvanas in Daly City for their silvanas (frozen meringue cookies stuffed with buttercream) or Patio Filipino for the Halo Halo dessert served in a fresh coconut. My daughters love Ling Nam Starbread in Daly City for buttery senorita bread. We will need to get together again and try more dishes since the waiter/owner wouldn't let us order more sensing that our eyes were bigger than our stomachs! Does anyone want to come next time? Thanks again to Glenn for hanging out with us! And shout out to Anne, who posts her food videos @alwayshannegry on Instagram or TikTok! Thanks for listening! A council meeting in Millbrae, California became rowdy as residents came out in droves to protest a hotel being turned into homes for the homeless. Queen's legendary anthem “Fat Bottomed Girls” was dropped from the band's new Greatest Hits album. Universal Records removed the track because the lyrics are a bit much for the younger audience. I finished spinning the Corriedale x Targhee x Merino fleece where I dyed the wool and then carded. This is a Black Sheep Gathering fleece from 2017. I still have about 2 lbs of this fleece left and I was losing about 10% in the carding process on this fleece. I started and finished a 3 ounce braid of mixed BFL that was overdyed by Two Guys Yarn. It's a two ply yarn in muted primary colors. I'm still working on processing a Corriedale x Border Leicester from 2016. I'm flicking the locks before I feed them into the drum carder, trying to keep the fibers as aligned as possible (as is done in combing). With this fleece I'm pulling the batts off the carder through a diz and making nests of pseudo-combed top. This process has resulted in about 20% loss. https://christinacorpus.com/ (Christina Corpus), candidate for San Mateo County Sheriff 2022. Christina is the first female candidate to run for Sheriff in San Mateo County. Christina is currently the Chief of Police services for the City of Millbrae. If elected in June, 2022, she will be the first Latina Sheriff in the state of California. Christina Corpus is the daughter of immigrants from Nicaragua and Mexico. She was born and raised in the Bay Area, where she has lived her entire life. Growing up, her mother instilled in her a strong work ethic, and she has been working since she was sixteen years old. As she entered adulthood, she was drawn to public service. She began her career with San Mateo County as a caseworker with the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office in 1995. Serving the public was a rewarding experience and Christina quickly realized that law enforcement was how she wished to grow as a professional and inspire young women that looked like her. She applied to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and was hired as a Correctional Officer in 2002. She was quickly promoted to Deputy Sheriff and worked primarily in the North Fair Oaks area, a predominantly Latino community. There, Christina met her husband, John, who is also a law enforcement officer for the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Over her decades-long career at the Sheriff's Office, Christina has served in the Corrections Division, Professional Standards, and the Operations Division. Most of her career has been heavily involved with community policing, first as a Deputy, and then as the Director of the Sheriff's Office Community Alliance to Revitalize our Neighborhood. After she was promoted to Sergeant, she returned to Community Policing as a supervisor. As she advanced in her career, Christina realized she wanted to deepen her understanding of law enforcement with more education. This drive led Christina to enroll in Union Institute and University, where she completed a bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement Leadership. After being promoted to Sergeant and serving as Community Policing Supervisor, Christina was promoted to Lieutenant and oversaw the entire Community Policing Bureau. She later became the Commander of Bayside Patrol and managed the Community Policing Unit, the School Resource Unit, Field Training Unit, K-9 Unit, Motor Unit, and the Sheriff's Activities League program. When she was promoted to Captain, she continued to oversee the Bayside Patrol Bureau. Recently, she became Chief of Police Services for the City of Millbrae. Christina has always taken pride in being a problem solver. Throughout her career, she has championed several innovative programs to re-imagine modern law enforcement in San Mateo County: Women in Law Enforcement Boot Camp and Symposium to mentor and train women seeking a career in law enforcement BOLO-Wrap, a restraint device to humanely immobilize combative or resistive individuals. Most people think of school choice as opting to direct tax dollars to private schools, particularly religious schools. My story was the complete opposite. I share stories of my youth at a parochial school and the difficult process I went through to transfer to a public, government school. We then expand the conversation to cover the pros and cons to school choice, including addressing many of the common objections. We share how school choice (in a very limited fashion) played a role in my failed attempt to win election on my local school board. I also discuss how this topic was a seminal political issue and largely shaped how I see the world of politics today. We also discuss a range of other people and places including Our Lady of Angels, Mills High School, Burlingame High School, Mercy High School, Serra High School, Bellarmine College Preparatory, Lynn Swann, Tom Brady, Barry Bonds, Kevin McNamara, Gaby Dow, Steve Dow, Millbrae, Burlingame, UC San Diego, UCSD, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, Milton Friedman, Donald Trump, Betsy DeVos, Khan Academy, Spring Charter Schools, Poway Unified, Measure P, Billion Dollar Bond, COVID, Gavin Newsom, St. Michael’s, GI Bill, Westview High School, Poway High School, Valley Elementary, ROTC, Andrew Yang, Pursuit of Happiness #JohnRileyProject #SchoolChoice #vouchers #PursuitofHappiness #ProChoice JRP0135 Our Sponsors: PowayStore.com: https://powaystore.com/ Happiness76.com: https://happiness76.com/ Trigger Energy: https://triggerenergy.com/ John Riley Project Info: Bookings? In this episode we discuss issues of Property Rights and Equality Under the Law within the context of recent policy proposals from the Poway City Council. In the aftermath of the Poway Chabad Shooting, Mayor Steve Vaus has proposed a revision to the city code to give Places of Worship a waiver so they do not have to come before the City Council to ask for a variance to build a wall or a fence above the 6 ft limit. This ultimately will give people greater security so they can pray without fear. But is this a case of expanding property rights for some and not for others? Should all property owners be treated equally under the law? How is this consistent with Mayor Vaus' desire to “Get Government Out of the Way”? In the other issue we revisit the topic of Granny Flats in Poway to partly help relieve pressure in our current housing crisis. We learn the city is still exploring the idea, but they are considering proposals that set up a business partnership between the city and the property owner including the city extending loans to property owners and participating in a revenue share agreement on rental income. How is this consistent with Mayor Vaus' desire to “Get Government Out of the Way”? Are there better ways to embrace the idea of Granny Flats while respecting property rights and individual liberty? We also discuss various other issues and people including the Burlingame Little League, Poway National Little League, Jon Canavan, Ancestry.com, University of New Mexico, California Missions, Electric Vehicles, Charging Stations, Hyundai, San Jose, El Super Burrito, Millbrae, San Rafael, Ross, San Buenaventura Mission, Mission San Rafael Arcangel. Tonight's special guest is Kim Kubal, MS, a PhD candidate from Millbrae, California, who's a survivor of ritual abuse and human trafficking. "Looking back on my life," she says, "I realize that I spent most of my childhood and adolescence fragmented and out of my body." She goes on, "I now know that my situation was one of extreme and recurrent abuse and trauma. During times of abuse and torture, I simply went someplace else. I didn't feel the physical, emotional or spiritual pain." Kim felt she had to escape into multiple addictions and self-abusive behaviors .. food, sugar, sex, drugs, etc. She was in tremendous denial, as where her parents and other family members. Kim descended into a deep, suicidal depression, clinging to her therapist and several 12-Step programs she was in. "After 10 long years of healing, I finally thought I was done and could start to live life. Boy, was I wrong!" Kim says she had the sobering realization that the abuses she began to recall had indeed occurred, that her memories were real. "I pressed on, at times seeing two separate therapists each week." Kim went on spiritual retreats and attended eight different 12-Step programs dealing with 12 different addictions. Now it's paid off. "I am able to heal and give back. I am at peace within myself and love myself. I come from a place of love, and see the love, which is God, in everyone." Kim is now the Executive Director of 'Your Strength to Heal' providing a safe and nurturing inpatient and outpatient treatment facility where women can heal from trauma-related conditions. Her personal web site, KimKubal.com, is dedicated to healing and preventing trauma through education, her books, workshops and support.

Wade Pitts joins his guest Brannon Beliso in his studio in Millbrae, California. Brannon Beliso first began practicing Martial Arts back in 1967. His father was his first teacher and taught him from his own home, in the studio in their basement. His first introduction was when he was only 4 years old and would have to sit in the kneeling position for 2 hours at a time, 4 times a week to prove he was ready to train. It was all about discipline — even from a young age. In '79, at 17 years old, he earned his first black belt. Following that, he also trained in Kickboxing, Boxing, Jiu Jitsu, Kung Fu, and Eskrima. Currently, Brannon has an 8th-degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and owns ONE Martial Arts school in Millbrae and San Francisco that he first opened when he was 38. He also is an author, consultant, and speaker. Brannon is extremely passionate in helping both children and adults alike live their best life, whether that be in Martial Arts or not. In this episode of Bay Area Martial Arts, Wade and Brannon discuss Brannon's background and journey in the Martial Arts, some of his early lessons, how he built his current business and brand, as well as how to live transparently and embrace the process of growing, learning, and building self-confidence through Martial Arts. The Bay Area is a great place to live. However, it can get pretty expensive depending on where you choose to buy a home. Welcome back to another edition of the East Bay Market Minute, the fastest 60 seconds in real estate. We’ve got an interesting topic for you today. We’re going to take a look at the cost of homes in terms of average price per square foot along the BART lines. **If you’re not from the Bay Area, BART stands for Bay Area Regional Transit and the BART lines are basically the mass transit system around here. ** The graphic in the video above shows you where the BART lines go and what the average price per square foot is in each of those areas. The lines go up into the Richmond area in the northwest and North Concord in the east, and as far down as Millbrae in the southwest and Fremont in the southeast. As you can see, the price per square foot varies quite a bit. As you get into the city of San Francisco, the price goes up over $1,000 per square foot! At the same time, homes in Oakland are much more affordable at an average of $300 square feet. “IT MAKES SENSE THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE MOVING OUT TO THE EAST BAY.” It’s not surprising that we’re starting to see people living in San Francisco move out to the East Bay. Obviously, the price per square foot is advantageous out here, but when you combine that with good schools and good communities, a lot of people from the city are moving here and increasing demand. If you want a copy of the graphic in the video above for yourself, let me know and I’d be happy to send it over. If you have any other questions for me, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you.
