Send us a message, so we know what you're thinking! When we watch movies & shows at the movies or, increasingly, on TV, the soundtrack is ever-present to set the mood and enhance the story. But we never stop to consider its' role, how it's changed over the years, and how it interacts with other elements, such as the title sequence. This episode we look at how the use of soundtracks has changed over the last 30 or more years and consider some very creative soundtracks! In Rock News, we look at The Hollywood Vampires, Cyndi Lauper, Deep Purple, David Lee Roth and Devo, who are all heading out on the road, while the latest fad out of the US is Lollipop Star, a sweet that plays a tune as you suck it! Our Album You Must Hear before You Die is “The Lexicon of Love” by ABC.  Smooth! We know you'll enjoy this one!  References:  The Hollywood Vampires, Cyndi Lauper, Deep Purple, David Lee Roth, Devo, 1001 Albums You Must Hear before You Die, Robert Dimery, ABC, The Lexicon of Love, Martin Fry, Poison Arrow, early 80s British pop, Star Wars, Sound of Music, I Dream of Jeannie, Mr Ed, The Exorcist, Mike Oldfield, Tubular Bells, Shrek, I'm a Believer, Hallelujah, Led Zeppelin, Immigrant Song, Charmed, How Soon is Now, The Smiths, Morrissey & Marr, Game of Thrones, The Americans, The Old Man, Bad Sisters, Leonard Cohen, Who by Fire, PJ Harvey, The Pogues, Dirty Old Town, Rogue Heroes, Amelia Hartley, “prestige TV”, Down Cemetery Road, John Cale, You know more than I know, Fear, Fallout, scenes of extreme gore, Some Enchanted Evening, The Castells, It Ain't the Meat (It's the Motion), The Swallows, Slow Horses, Mick Jagger, Mick Herron, Queen, Brighton Rock, Bowie, Heroes, Stranger Things, Kate Bush, Running Up That Hill, IF, Ryan Reynolds, Ooh La La, The Faces, Connie Francis, Pretty Little Baby, TikTok  Playlist Lollipop Star – The sucker that sings to you A list of bands touring through 2026 (It's read-only.  Sorry!)60s TV Shows

Murder In America

In 1999, Logan Marr was kidnapped, and the state of Maine thought it was for the best. In their eyes, the toddler's mother was too poor, too uneducated, too redneck to raise her baby girl. So, they gave her to someone who could. And then someone else. And then someone else. Until finally, in 2001, Christy Marr was finally given back her baby girl: in a casket. This isn't our typical story. This is the story of a legal kidnapping, a desperate mother, a corrupt system, and a state employee who believed she was above the law until finally… she wasn't.  - Sources:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eTYeCoYyxm58DXXdoFbHQyWHlWbcH9iKGIefFcQToW4/edit?tab=t.y2yayotxnlcb Listen to our new show, "THE CONSPIRACY FILES"!: -Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/5IY9nWD2MYDzlSYP48nRPl -Apple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-conspiracy-files/id1752719844 -Amazon/Audible - https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/ab1ade99-740c-46ae-8028-b2cf41eabf58/the-conspiracy-files -Pandora - https://www.pandora.com/podcast/the-conspiracy-files/PC:1001089101 -iHeart - https://iheart.com/podcast/186907423/ -PocketCast - https://pca.st/dpdyrcca -CastBox - https://castbox.fm/channel/id6193084?country=us - Stay Connected: Join the Murder in America fam in our free Facebook Community for a behind-the-scenes look, more insights and current events in the true crime world: https://www.facebook.com/groups/4365229996855701 If you want even more Murder in America bonus content, including ad-free episodes, come join us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/murderinamerica Instagram: http://instagram.com/murderinamerica/ Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/people/Murder-in-America-Podcast/100086268848682/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/MurderInAmerica TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@theparanormalfiles and https://www.tiktok.com/@courtneybrowen Feeling spooky?

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 2, 2026 28:01

Tomaso believes we are in-between building and understanding useful AI That is, we are in between engineering and theory. He likens this stage to the period after Volta invented the battery and Maxwell developed the equations of electromagnetism. Tomaso has worked for decades on the theory and principles behind intelligence and learning in brains and machines. I first learned of him via his work with David Marr, in which they developed "Marr's levels" of analysis that frame explanation in terms of computation/function, algorithms, and implementation. Since then Tomaso has added "learning" as a crucial fourth level. I will refer to you his autobiography to learn more about the many influential people and projects he has worked with and on, the theorems he and others have proved to discover principles of intelligence, and his broader thoughts and reflections. Right now, he is focused on the principles of compositional sparsity and genericity to explain how deep learning networks can (computationally) efficiently learn useful representations to solve tasks. With the first names to grace his ears being some of the all round legends of the scene, it's no wonder he holds himself to such high standards in terms of technical ability and versatile track selection. Skills which would eventually earn him numerous residencies all across the white isle, including the super club Octan in 2019. In 2020 his debut EP "God Made Me" was released on Detroit label Motech Records, which was later followed up by his second release "Absence of freedom" in 2021. His tracks received an array of support from industry icons as well as being featured in mixes for both Fabric London & Awakenings. Putting him firmly on the radar of many, including the legend & Detroit Don, DJ Bone. With Tälor's tracks becoming a regular sound throughout the sets of Bone over the years, the pair finally met in person in Ibiza during the summer of 2022, where Bone would go on to invite Tälor to join his Further imprint as a resident DJ & artist, which since has seen him performing regularly in Amsterdam, sharing the booth with the likes of Ben Sims, FJAAK, Helena Hauff, Ellen Allien, Paula Temple, Nastia, Marrøn, Grace Dahl & many other major talents. With a driven focus on consistent improvement & a deep desire to leave his mark on the scene, Tälor is certainly a name to remember & keep an eye on for the years to come.

Play Episode Listen Later Jan 12, 2026 27:38

Technology has always been a double-edged sword. As the workplace and culture shift, we as humans are seeing more collaboration, access, and the ability to communicate across borders. But, it's also leading us to more stress, anxiety, depression, and social isolation. Those dopamine hits are no joke! This all impacts how we need leaders to show up and lead. We have to upskill our leaders for more connection, conversation, and collaboration. AI will be taking over a lot of the drudgery, so leadership now looks different from what it did 20 or 30 years ago. And for some leaders, there is a big skill gap between intent and impact. Something my guest today calls the Awkward Zone as she helps leaders to Own the Awkward.Today, Jen Marr shares the three forces behind our fundamental workplace shifts and how this has changed the role of leaders. She talks about that Awkward Zone and how to navigate through it. She shares the Barbell concept, necessary to build up healthy, productive employees. We have an interesting discussion about time - how leaders track it, spend it, and can find more ways to spend it on their people rather than on useless tasks. And Jen shares what may finally shake us up from the unhealthy ways tech has taken over our lives at the cost of real connection, and what that flashpoint might be for us.

A daughter inherits her mother's deadly secrets in a chilling novel of psychological suspense by Elle Marr, the #1 Amazon Charts bestselling author of The Alone Time. Museum curator Pearl Davis always had a strained relationship with her mother, Sally. Growing up, she rarely felt her mother's love. So many things about her mother's behavior never added up. But when Sally dies unexpectedly, she leaves Pearl a letter from the grave…confessing to murder. Suddenly, Pearl has even more questions than she has answers. She suspects the letter is just a sign of her mother's diminished state of mind―until she finds human remains in Sally's garden. With the help of a friend, Pearl begins searching for the truth of her mother's actions―and as she does, more cryptic notes emerge. But these letters aren't just clues behind a confession. They're a warning. Sally was terrified of something. When more remains are discovered, it's clear whatever secrets Sally died with are now Pearl's to bear. And as darkness closes in, Pearl fears that her mother's past could be the death of her. Choses à Savoir
Pourquoi le mot “antisémite” est-il lui-même antisémite ?

Choses à Savoir

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 5, 2025 2:41
