In part 2 of the oral history of the legendary 2013 Ridge Point vs Texas City Playoff game we have another key actor in that night. At that time he was the Offensive Coordinator of vaunted Stingaree attack led by future Longhorn and pro football player D'Onta Foreman. After that game a friendship was born that continued through some struggles that he and Coach Kovo shared as 1st time Head Coaches. He is now the Offensive Coordinator and O-Line Coach for the Boerne Greyhounds - welcome David Wilkinson to the show! - Growing up in Richardson, TX just up the road from downtown Dallas during the time when the Mavericks were always bad and a ticket was easy to come by, and a summertime trip out to the Ballpark at Arlington for a Rangers game was never too far away. - Playing HS ball at JJ Pearce with Aggie Legend Rich Coady and having future CFP Championship Game Head Coach Sonny Dykes as his Offensive Position Coach! - After considering extending his playing career at Austin College or Hardin-Simmons, David decided to head to Aggieland and enrolled at Texas A&M University and then beginning his coaching career back at his alma mater at JJ Pearce. - You won't meet many people more authentic and sincere than David Wilkinson. So, it's no surprise Coach provides a refreshingly REAL assessment of the things he learned during a tough stint as Head Football Coach at Baytown Lee; where the wins on the field to refill his emotional cup were few and far between, and how he learned that he was spending too much time "majoring in the minor". - Finally as a diehard Cowboys fan we give Wilk a tough Dem Boyz O-Line edition with legendary names like Larry Allen, Nate Newton, and Erik Williams! Host Roy Wood Jr. sits with CBS Mornings co-host, Nate Burleson, and former New York Jets coach, Collette V. Smith, to discuss the lack of diversity in the NFL's head coaching positions and how the league can hold team owners accountable. As the NHL regular season approaches, our preview of the Pacific Division continues with the stop in Western Canada. The Calgary Flames and Vancouver Canucks enter the season as retooling teams that have Stanley Cup Playoff potential as Wild Card teams. Both teams are welcoming in new Head Coaches in Rick Tocchet for the Canucks and Ryan Huska for the Flames. For the Edmonton Oilers, it has to be Stanley Cup or bust for them. They do have a few question marks themselves still on the defensive side of the puck and in net at Goalie. With that in mind, are the Edmonton Oilers the best chance for Canada to finally win a Stanley Cup? Is it the Canucks? Could it be the Flames?

In the MIAC conference there are two schools that you need to start paying attention to as an opponent or a basketball fan if you haven't before. Both St. Mary's University and Macalester College have had tough seasons on the hardwood in the not so distant past but in the last 5 seasons have taken some steps to no longer be a pushover in their conference. I am joined by the head coaches of each program – Joe Fano and Abe Woldeslassie to talk about their journeys. Both coaches are entering their 6th season leading their schools. At St. Mary's – the season prior to Coach Fano arriving they finished 1 – 24 and in a short time Joe has the Cardinals headed in the right direction as they have had 3 appearances in the MIAC post-season tournament in his 5 years and also led the school to their first MIAC playoff win in school history! At Macalester – the Scots had won just 35 games in the 10 seasons prior to Coach Woldeslassie taking over and he also has had a positive influence on his program leading the Scots to the MIAC playoffs in back to back seasons, including the championship game in 2021-22 doing so as #6 seed which had never before happened in MIAC history. For both of them this is their first head coaching job at any level and we discuss what prepared them for their jobs, some of their most memorable moments at their schools so far and the keys to sustaining momentum.

Hour 3: Let's go through the list of Head Coaches most likely to be fired this season. A caller wants JPP back on the Giants. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio from the mentalist that was on Hard Knocks with the Jets last night. Joe Benigno was with Evan at Jets camp and we played some of Joe's ‘how bout that'. Shaun Morash asked Rob Saleh about the crow and eagle analogy. Joe B is confused as you might guess. Gio as Joe B worried that China now has the Jets' plays now that Saleh is scrolling through TikTok. The Yankees got only 1-hit and were shutout by the Braves. Aaron Judge talked about being .500 in mid-August. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about Aaron Rodgers not wanting to play around with us on the air. He was a tough nut to crack.
Hour 1: Boomer & Gio are in the studio this morning after spending days at Giants and Jets camp. We may have put the maloik on Aaron Rodgers as he did not have a good day of practice after talking to us in the morning. Last night was episode 2 of Hard Knocks and there was a mentalist/magician guy there named Oz Pearlman who did a cool trick with Aaron Rodgers. Rob Saleh did rip into the offensive line in last night's episode for their poor performance in practice against the Panthers. The Colts and the Panthers have both named their rookie QBs as starters so they get all the first team reps. We also talked about the Jets adding Dalvin Cook and how that could elevate the entire RB room. Jerry is here with his first update of the day and starts with audio from Rob Saleh from last night's Hard Knocks ripping into the offensive line. We also heard Joe Benigno's ‘how bout that' to the New York Jets' players at camp. Anthony Richardson talked about being named starting QB for the Colts. Gardner Minshew said he understands why Richardson was named starter. Al Michaels talked about having low energy for crappy games. The Yankees were shut out by the Braves and only managed 1-hit. Luis Severino had another bad outing, giving up a 3-run HR in the first. Jordan Montgomery had a good start for the Rangers. In the final segment of the hour, baseball is now dead in NY as the Yankees have hit .500 and will no doubt fall below soon. It's time now to shut Aaron Judge down instead of running him out there with that bad toe in meaningless games. Hour 2: Gio is sick of Mets fans saying they ‘won 101 games last year' as some sort of defense of Steve Cohen. We took calls from furious Yankees fans. Boomer tells the story of his friend, Ziggy, who had a thumb reattached in order to hold a football better at Syracuse. Jerry returns for an update and starts with audio from last night's Hard Knocks. Quinnen Williams' money was the subject of conversation between Rob Saleh and Woody Johnson. Brandon Tierney accidently said ‘penis' instead of ‘peanuts' when discussing the paychecks in the Jets RB room. Daniel Jones talked about why he doesn't want to be on ‘Quarterback'. Marc Malusis is on vacation with his family and things seem to be going well. Jerry has audio from Moose. The Yankees were shut out by the Braves and only got one hit. The Dodgers keep winning out West. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the Jets offensive line and their struggles so far in camp and preseason games. Hour 4: Last night was episode 2 of Hard Knocks and we got to see Rob Saleh ripping into the offensive line. Gio was asking Boomer about who is calling the plays on the offense now for the Jets. Jerry returns for an update but first Eddie Scozzare calls us live from Iceland with his tour guide. This leads to a long impression of Gio as Eddie in Iceland. Jerry has audio from last night's Hard Knocks episode. It's a conversation between Rob Saleh and Quinnen Williams. ‘Our style was all over this bitch yesterday'- Saleh on the defense. He was not happy with the play of the offensive line. Williams became a star on last night's episode. Joe Benigno's ‘how bout that' to the Jets players during interviews from camp. In the final segment of the show, someone at The Big Lead thought Gio's impression of Joe Benigno was really Joe and he thought the Chinese were getting all of the Jets plays because Rob Saleh scrolls TikTok.

The 2023 NFL season starts on Thursday, August 3, 2023, with the Browns vs. the Jets.
