2025's edition of the Mid-Summer Classic turned out to be a first of its kind on Tuesday night. At the center of it was a player who is no stranger to the dramatic. The NL jumped out to a 6-0 lead heading into the seventh inning, but the AL came storming back. The game remained tied at the end of nine innings. The result turned out to be the first ever home run swing-off. Each team had three batters with three swings each. Whoever hit the most home runs was to be declared the winner. Down two home runs, the Phillies Kyle Schwarber hit a hat-trick of home runs to give the NL the win. Schwarber was named the MVP. Jake and Jordan talk about the electric finish to the night. The game's end was not the only highlight of the night. MLB showed out in style in the ATL, including a red carpet entrance earlier in the day. Three home runs, before the swing-off, Kershaw mic'd up while pitching, the ABS challenge system being used, and Misiorowski entering in the eighth are just a few of the many standout moments from the game. Jake and Jordan discuss everything that happened at Truist Park.Tuesday night was not the only night of drama this week. Monday night's Home Run Derby lived up to its billing, but the winner was not who everyone expected. The man who leads MLB in home runs, but was not the favorite in the Derby, came away with the win. Cal Raleigh put on a show after barely making it out of the first round. It was a family affair with Raleigh's brother catching and his dad pitching. Jake and Jordan both did not pick 'The Big Dumper' to win, but they discuss his impressive Home Run Derby performance. From Truist Park, get the immediate All-Star Game reaction from the guys on this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast. The All-star game ended with a tie and they went to the best tiebreaker EVER- a Home Run Derby! Kyle Schwarber hit all three of his homeruns and won the MVP of the game for the National League despite going 0-2 with a walk in the game itself. Would we like to see the home run derby finish more often? Would we ever want it in regular-season games? Possibly… :30- It's a variation of Mariners Morning After as we look at last night's All-star game and the Mariners stars' performance. :45- Adam Silver spoke to the media yesterday following the owners meetings, but in reality, he didn't say much. Post-Gazette sports columnist Paul Zeise reacts to the day in Pittsburgh sports news live around 5 p.m. Eastern. He gives his thoughts on a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter that the number of years in his next contract has become the sticking point in contract negotiations with T.J. Watt. Should GM Omar Khan and Mike Tomlin give into the demands of a player who will turn 31 this season? Or hold firm and not commit to him for too long on a defense that already includes older players such as Cam Heyward, Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay Jr.? Paul offers his thoughts on those questions, then tackles MLB All-Star week in Atlanta. What should we make of Oneil Cruz's second-round exit in the Home Run Derby on Monday night? And what can we expect from Paul Skenes as he start the game on the mound for the National League for the second year in a row?
Former MLB Pitcher Josh Towers and Scott Seidenberg look at the standings and stats around baseball here at the All Star Break with BEST BETS for the remainder of the season. At the 2025 MLB All-Star break, the Inside Pitch podcast with Scott Seidenberg and Josh Towers delivers a sharp, numbers-driven midseason analysis. They highlight which teams are outperforming or underperforming expectations based on actual wins versus Pythagorean projections. The Toronto Blue Jays lead the AL East with a 55–41 record but are five wins ahead of their expected total, signaling potential regression. The Yankees are six games below their expected record, indicating possible value in the second half. Injuries and returning players also dominate discussion—Luis Garcia and Christian Javier returning to the Astros' rotation is likened to acquiring top talent at the trade deadline. Luis Gil's rehab performance could also bolster the Yankees. Boston's young squad, led by Garrett Crochet and Roman Anthony, is positioned to make a late push if they acquire key pieces like a veteran first baseman or another starter. Win total bets discussed include taking the under on Toronto's 89.5 projection and over on Houston's 92.5 due to an easy remaining schedule. The Brewers emerge as the most profitable team in baseball for bettors, returning over $1,300 if wagered on every game. Milwaukee also boasts a 72% win rate as favorites. Advanced pitching stats suggest strong Cy Young cases for Zach Wheeler and long-shot Christopher Sanchez in the National League, while Crochet and Scooble are nearly even statistically in the AL race. Aaron Judge is unanimously favored to win AL MVP, outpacing competitors like Cal Raleigh in nearly every offensive metric. Shohei Ohtani's recent return to pitching enhances his case for NL MVP. The Phillies are picked to win the NL East, with three pitchers having 10+ quality starts, a key measure of reliability. For the postseason, the Yankees, Astros, and Tigers are favorites in the AL, while the Dodgers and Phillies are expected to meet in the NLCS. The Red Sox and Blue Jays are likely Wild Card teams, though the latter are expected to regress. Arizona is projected to fade down the stretch, likely trading veterans like Suarez, Naylor, and perhaps Gallen, and their under-79.5 win total is recommended. Despite offensive firepower, the Diamondbacks' pitching struggles make them unreliable. Meanwhile, Milwaukee and Chicago are competing in the NL Central, and both are top betting values. Overall, listeners are encouraged to buy into the Yankees, Red Sox, and Astros for the second half, and fade teams like Toronto and Arizona. Josh and Scott also touch on key upcoming matchups, strategic deadline considerations, and award markets—recommending Sanchez for NL Cy Young at 20:1 and Crochet at +240 in the AL. They close by predicting the ALCS will feature the Astros and Yankees, while the NLCS will likely be a showdown between the Dodgers and Phillies, pending injury returns. This week Jordan & Gaz are joined by former Blackburn, Bolton, Morecambe, Charlton, Burton & Carlisle defender...SAM LAVELLE! Sam sits down with the boys to discuss all things football from coming through the ranks at Blackburn Rovers to currently life as a free agent. The lads start the pod by talking about life as a free agent and what that looks like for footballers, including PFA Pre-Season, interest from clubs and ambition to play as high as possible. Sam then talks about his difficult few seasons at Carlisle as the club suffered back to back relegations from League One to the National League and why the club is far too good to be that low down the pyramid. Gaz then asks Sam which 3 people from football would he invite over for dinner & drinks which then leads to Sam's incredible impression of former Morecambe manager Jim Bentley. They then chat openly about Sam's time at Blackburn & Bolton and the casino gambling culture that was rife at the time and how both Gaz & Sam overcame their struggles. The trio then discuss the return of the infamous football footman, hilarious stories about him and how Sam ended up meeting him in person! Sam then chats about his big move to Charlton, that cup run where they played Brighton and Manchester United followed by a horror loan move to Burton. Finally they end the pod discussing the best players that Sam has played with and what the future holds next for the EFL defender. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

With the 2025 MLB Draft rapidly approaching, MLB Pipeline senior prospect and draft analyst Jim Callis returns to the Jack Vita Show, to preview this year's Draft. The Draft is set for Sunday, July 13. This conversation was taped Friday, June 27, days after the MLB Draft Combine in Phoenix concluded, and 23 days before the MLB Draft. This year's Draft does not have a clear-cut number one talent, leaving the Washington Nationals the opportunity to go in a number of different directions. They could tag college baseball's best pitcher, LSU's lefty Kade Anderson. They could go with the best high school position player (Ethan Holliday), or the best high school pitcher (Seth Hernandez). Jim helps break down the talent at the top of the Draft board, previewing Sunday's Draft. Jim also shares some thoughts from this year's MLB Draft Combine (0:00 - 40:30). Later, Jim and Jack shift their attention to the big leagues, specifically, young players that have impressed this season. After a lackluster rookie campaign, Pete Crow-Armstrong was named the National League's starting center fielder in next week's All-Star Game. The 23 year-old has found success in his sophomore season in the bigs. Jim has been high on PCA for a while, but did he see this coming from him in his second year? Jim also been high on Milwaukee Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski for quite some time. Misiorowski recently made his big league debut, and through his first four starts, the 23 year-old has a 3-1 record and 3.20 ERA across 19.2 IP. Jack and Jim talk Misiorowski and other young players they have their eye on this season. They also share some thoughts on the Chicago Cubs' hot start that has them in first place, just days before the All-Star break (40:30 - 53:35). Lastly, Jim and Jack discuss the cast for the upcoming season of Survivor, Survivor 50 (53:35 - END)! You can find more from us on Survivor 50 here.
