Dr. Rebecka Peebles and registered dietitian Nathalia Trees dive into the booming world GLP-1 medications and the complex intersection of weight loss, body size, eating disorders, and marketing. They unpack the rapid rise of these weight loss drugs, the scientific and ethical dilemmas for clinicians, and practical strategies for navigating weight loss treatments. Whether you're on GLP-1s right now or considering the pros and cons of the medications, this episode will give you a clearer understanding of the risks, benefits, and long‑term considerations of these drugs.Key TakeawaysPrescriptions for GLP‑1 drugs have surged since 2023, especially for adolescents, but long‑term safety data at high doses remains limited.Clinicians have to weigh metabolic benefits for diabetes against potential harm for patients with eating‑disorder histories.Transparent communication about side‑effects—GI issues, rare ocular events, and possible mood changes—is critical.Sustainable weight management, including the popular "microdosing" of GLP-1s, requires a holistic approach.Dr. Rebecka Peebles – VP of Adolescent Medicine at Monte Nido, obesity‑medicine certified, expert in GLP‑1 therapy and its application to youth.Nathalia Trees – Registered dietitian at Monte Nido, specialist in eating‑disorder treatment, weight‑inclusive care, and nutrition‑focused performance coaching.Links & ResourcesGuest email contacts: rpeebles@montenido.com | ntrees@montenido.comFDA's warning letter to Novo Nordisk Journal of Fat Studies article exposing GLP‑1 trial data gaps If you found this conversation insightful, hit Subscribe so you never miss an episode, leave a 5‑star review to help other professionals discover the show, and join the discussion on social media with Feisty Women's Perofrmance.Join us at Feisty Fest - September 18-20th, 2026: https://feisty.co/events/feisty-fest/Sign up to Receive The Feisty Women's Performance Newsletter:https://feisty.co/newsletters/feisty-womens-performance/Follow us on Instagram:@feisty_womens_performanceVisit the Feisty website at https://feisty.co/ for info on all of our events and podcastsSupport our Partners:Momentous: Head to https://www.livemomentous.com/ and use promo code PERFORMANCE for up to 35% off your first orderHettas: Use code STAYFEISTY for 20% off at https://hettas.com/ Wahoo: Learn more about Wahoo Fitness Products at: Wahoo: Learn more at https://shorturl.at/WVhdr Tifosi Optics: Use code FEISTY2026 for 20% off at https://tifosioptics.com/

Administrate is the number one Training Management System for instructor-led and virtual instructor-led training, trusted by enterprise teams around the world to plan, schedule, and scale complex training programs.Together, Nick and John explore why L&D teams are more overwhelmed than ever despite having more tools than ever, and why the solution almost nobody is talking about has nothing to do with buying something new. The real problem, as John makes clear, is not technology. It is operations. This conversation unpacks what training chaos actually looks like behind the scenes, why the more technology L&D teams add the worse things tend to get, how the absence of a true system of record is quietly killing training effectiveness, and why 70 to 80 percent of high-value corporate training still happens in a classroom regardless of what the e-learning industry has been promising for decades. They also dig into the truth about training ROI, why up to 80 percent of the training budget is consumed by manual admin work nobody signed up for, and how fixing that frees teams to double or even triple their training throughput within a year, with downstream gains in retention and performance that most HR leaders never connect back to training operations. On AI, John delivers one of the most grounded perspectives you will hear from any operator right now, covering where LLMs genuinely add value, where they fall short, and why operational clarity remains the real competitive advantage that winning L&D teams will be built on in 2026 and beyond.A must-listen for HR leaders, L&D professionals, and anyone ready to stop letting fear make their decisions for them and start building the kind of courage that moves teams, careers, and organisations forward.Enjoyed this? Following Jim Peebles' work on Cold Dark Matter, scientists began searching for the WIMP (Weakly Interacting Massive Particle). These particles are thought to interact through gravity but lack electrical charges or nuclear force interactions, making them invisible. The search has moved from telescopes to particle physics, with researchers at CERN's Large Hadron Collider attempting to create WIMPs through high-energy collisions. Simultaneously, underground laboratories globally search for rare instances where a WIMP might "bump" into an atomic nucleus. Computer simulations like IllustrisTNG are used to model the universe's evolution from the Big Bang. These simulations are highly successful at recreating the current universe only when CDM is included. Despite this success in theory and simulation, the physical particle has yet to be detected in any laboratory, leaving the nature of dark matter an open question. (4/8)1903 LANGELY AERODROME

Send us Fan MailDoctors are prescribing eating disorders to fat patients — not by accident, not in spite of the guidelines, but because of them. In this episode, I bring the clinical evidence to back up what the fat community has known for years: that severe dieting causes eating disorders, that eating disorders look nothing like the stereotype, and that fat people with eating disorders are being failed at every stage — dismissed, gaslit, and denied treatment. If you've been told to lose weight by a healthcare professional, you have the right to ask them why they're willing to put you at risk. This is the data. These are the receipts. In 1629, 27 men, women, and a 15-year-old child were executed in Peebles, Scotland — and their ashes cast into the River Tweed. For centuries, their names were largely forgotten. Now, a community theater production called Rope and Flame is bringing their stories back to life, just steps from the river where they were lost.Josh Hutchinson and Sarah Jack sit down with the creative team behind this remarkable project: director and co-writer Clare Prenton, playwright and co-writer Anita John, actor Scott Noble, and historian Mary Craig, whose book Borders Witch Hunt laid the foundation for the script. This conversation will take you into the Scottish Borders, into the streets and kirk of a 17th-century market town under pressure from famine, religious upheaval, and the reach of Edinburgh's legal machinery. Listeners will come away with a richer understanding of how witchcraft accusations spread through a community, why both accusers and accused deserve to be understood as full human beings, and what a commemorative plaque on Tweed Green sparked in a modern Scottish town. You'll also hear how three women writers intentionally pushed back against the framing of female fear and coercion as irrational, how a 15-year-old girl was pressured into naming names, and why one local historian argues that boots on the ground matter more than books when it comes to understanding the past. From generational trauma to the parallels between 17th-century gossip and why the mechanics of a whisper spreading through a 17th-century Scottish market town are not as distant from our own moment as we might like to think. this episode connects the Scottish witch trials to questions that are urgently alive right now.In This EpisodeThe history of the 1629 Peebles witch trials and what made the Scottish Borders a hotbed of witchcraft prosecutionsHow the 2022 memorial on Tweed Green sparked a community theater productionThe role of Calvinism, political turmoil under Charles I, and economic hardship in fueling accusationsWhy Rope and Flame portrays accusers as complex, frightened human beings rather than simple villainsThe story of Isabel Haddock, the 15-year-old accused whose testimony changed everythingHow community theater is doing what history books alone cannotIf this episode moved you, share it. These stories survive because people carry them forward. Josh Hutchinson and Sarah Jack are descendants of Salem witch trial victims who helped build End Witch Hunts nonprofit to educate about witch hunts past and present, advocate for the accused, and support the communities doing that work. "@garypavlick5825 1 year ago I love the underlying tones in Corman films. I'm only, 58 so, these films were made: 10 years before I was born. And, didn't air on tv. They were midnight drive in movie's. Come the 80s. They were gone by then. About, 25 years ago. I found these on DVD. Compilation discs. I was hooked! The decade of the B film invasion. the beatnik era. The exposure of the back scenes of American lifestyle. When, I started watching these. I said.... Oh! No wonder my parents were kinda weird. That would've been the 70s. I was born in 65 I said... So, thats what they did behind closed doors. Lol. Rex Carlton was another B movie King. I learned about the real history of American lifestyles through these types of movies. I started to collect as many as I could. all the way up to the early 80s. Remember Mario van Peebles films. and all those Black karate films. I had them all. Lol. And , Dick Miller became an idol to me too. how can't you not like him. ✌️

What does it really take to move from turning wrenches on helicopters to closing high-stakes aviation deals? We sit down with Joe, a former Army maintainer and crew member, to unpack the gritty, unfiltered path from technical mastery to building a business in a safety-first industry. The story starts on the flight line, where meticulous maintenance and responsibility for lives in the air forged a mindset that later shaped his entire sales approach.Joe shares how he discovered that being great at the craft is only a small slice of entrepreneurship. Quitting multiple jobs after a few big wins seemed like the right move—until three months passed with no calls. That drought became a lesson in pipeline, positioning, and patience. We walk through the real work behind a sustainable aviation business: marketing that educates, sales that protects safety and profit, accounting basics, insurance, branding, and the crucial habit of consistent follow-up. If you're eyeing aviation without a pilot license or A&P, you'll learn how to add value by building trust, asking better questions, and partnering with maintenance and operations teams who keep aircraft flying safely. We also dive into coaching and community. Joe invested in mentorships and observed top performers across industries, borrowing tactics without losing his voice. Success leaves clues—habits, systems, and standards you can adapt to aviation's tight-knit ecosystem. And for veterans leaving the service, we highlight resources to rebuild your network and find your footing in business aviation. The big takeaway: if you become truly good at sales, you'll always have a job, but in aviation the bar is higher—because every deal touches safety. If this conversation sparks your next move, subscribe, share with a friend who needs it, and leave a review with your biggest takeaway. Your feedback helps more people find their runway.Support the showLearn more about breaking into aviation through SALES - https://avsalestalent.com/talent

Playwright Laurie Flanigan-Hegge, two directors, and a puppet artist discuss staging "Prick," a play about Scottish witch trials, now opening in Chicago November 6-16. In August 2023, we spoke with playwright Laurie Flanigan-Hegge about Prick, her play about the Scottish witch trials. It had just premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Two years later, the play has traveled to New Orleans, Wellington (New Zealand), and opens November 6-16, 2025 at the Den Theater in Chicago. We reunite with Laurie and puppet artist Madeline Helling, and meet two directors: Jeff Mills of Chicago's Proboscis Theater Company and Amy Chaffee from Tulane University. The conversation covers what it's like staging historical violence, why the single puppet design works so powerfully, and how a play about 17th-century Scotland keeps finding new relevance.About the PlayPrick examines the Scottish witch trials through three women: an Unknown Woman lost to history, Marioun Twedy of Peebles, and Isobel Gowdie. The title refers to "pricking"—searching accused women's bodies for the "devil's mark" with sharp instruments. The play moves between past and present, uses dark humor and Scottish folk music, and centers on a single haunting puppet created by Madeline Helling. What They DiscussThe rehearsal process: Both directors talk about the challenge of staging the pricking scenes, even with a puppet. Jeff's Chicago cast continues working through how to show violence respectfully. Amy's New Orleans students couldn't bring the instrument near the puppet—they performed the gesture from twelve feet away. The puppet's power: Madeline designed one puppet to represent all the accused women. It's specific enough to feel real, neutral enough that audiences project onto it. The puppet travels between productions and comes back to her for repairs.Contemporary connections: The play addresses ongoing witch hunts in countries where witchcraft remains a state crime. Amy teaches in Louisiana and discusses working in a politically charged environment. Jeff talks about theater as "rehumanization" in response to current dehumanization. The music: Both productions use songs by Heal and Harrow, a folk duo who created an album for the Witches of Scotland Campaign. Jeff adds Scottish guitar with electronics. Amy's students performed acapella arrangements.Cultural complications: Amy reflects on taking the play to Wellington, New Zealand—a colonial capital—at a conference focused on integrating Māori culture with acting and voice techniques. The play deals with Scotland as both colonized and colonizer, which created complex responses from audiences of different backgrounds."Remembrance Is Resistance"This Witches of Scotland Campaign motto runs through the conversation. The campaign seeks pardons and memorials for nearly 5,000 documented accused. They created a tartan anyone can wear to show support. At Tulane, one student built a monument inscribed with every name from the database and installed it in the lobby.Chicago ProductionNovember 6-16, 2025 The Den Theater, Milwaukee Avenue Tickets: thedentheatre.com (search "Prick")Two weekends only. In this episode, we speak with, Gustav Peebles (economic anthropologist) and Benjamin Luzatto (artist and public thinker), co-authors of The First and Last Bank: Climate Change, Currency and a New Carbon Commons. Together, they propose a bold new vision of money as a tool for ecological repair—one that treats carbon not as a commodity to be traded, but as a commons to be protected, stored, and distributed fairly. We explore: Why money and climate are more intertwined than we think How a “carbon commons” could shift our economic priorities What it means to design a bank that's both metaphor and mechanism Whether it's time to let go of conventional growth-based systems Why this is a call to collective imagination—not just policy change This episode isn't just about economics. "The Love Boat" is certainly cut from the same cloth, but this "Christmas Cruise" remains a mystery. Is it a movie? Is it two episodes seamlessly jammed together? Why no separate listing for it on Letterbox'd or IMDb? Currently availabel on Paramount+, this movie-sode is chock full of mysteries. Where did the kid chorus come from? How are people able to buy massive amounts of flowers on this ship, let alone yarn? How can one custom make their own "Love Boat" episode? All this, plus Kerry gives three more movies from "1,001 movies You must See Before You Die," one of which also features a Love Boat. How can we reciprocate since the world keeps us alive on the one hand, and on the other hand, all these things, birds and you name it, right? Fish and moose and beaver, these are things we love. So, if this is the world we love, we're going to have feelings about how we might want to do positive things to keep this world we love as nurtured as possible. And we also hopefully want to ask, how do we keep our own ability to be alive and thrive here as humans?Sarah Peebles is a Toronto-based installation artist, composer and music improvisor. Much of her work explores digitally manipulated found sound and unconventional methods of amplification. She has also collaborated with artists, technicians and bee biologists on a series of projects addressing pollination ecology and biodiversity, entitled ‘Resonating Bodies' since 2008.
