May is officially Mental Health Awareness Month. Mental health is finally starting to get the recognition it deserves as far as treatment, but there are still stigmas that prevent people from being aware of and seeking help for their issues. Unfortunately, LGTBQ individuals are at higher risk for developing mental illnesses. You cannot get better if you don't know that you may have an illness. Together with my friend Colin Denton, we break down some of our experiences with mental illnesses, from how it affects us everyday as well as how we work to overcome it. If you feel you may need help, consult a therapist or your doctor. They can provide the best guidance for mental health care. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/support

Thank you everyone for your support of The Bear Share Show! Reflecting on Season 1, I am so grateful for the support and topics discussed on the show. The purpose of the show is to bring light and discuss common issues many of us have in the LBGTQ community, Bear Community, and the general world we live in today. I have had many heartwarming messages of people really identifying with the topics, and that means the world to me. Thank you all for being so amazing and stay tuned soon for Season 2! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/support
We often associate the holidays with family and fun festivities, but not everyone shares that same experience. Many people in the LGBTQ community are sadly disconnected from their blood families, and can often find the holidays to be stressful and/or depressing. This is why you will tend to see members of the LGBTQ community form what are called "Chosen Families". Together with my guest host Adam Barkhouse, we discuss what a Chosen family is, why they are formed, and how they can make the holidays feel like they are intended to be. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/support

When driving a car, we focus and pay attention to what is in front of us to avoid accidents. It is so routine we don't think about it, as it makes sense to watch what is in front of you when we are moving forward. Why is this concept so difficult to apply to our lives and goals? How can overcome insecurity, frustrations, fear, the past, and indecisiveness about what we want? In a world full of distractions it can be so easy to be knocked off course from our goals. In this episode, I reflect on some recent experiences and encourage you to think about what you want, stay focused, and not be distracted, as we close out this year and enter soon into another. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/support

Body Image Issues are something I am sadly no stranger to. It doesn't matter how much I weigh, or how often I exercise, negative self image is something that I have struggled with my whole life. Sadly, it turns out I am by far not the only one to experience this. Body image issues are universal and heavily prevalent in the LGBTQ and Bear communities, and it is something that should be discussed more openly and freely. With that in mind, this is Part 1 of my Body Image series, where I go into detail about my own body image issues, with an explanation into why I developed them, and how I am working through them. The point is many of us have body image concerns, but we aren't alone, and perhaps together we can find ways to get support to overcome them. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/andre-metoyer/support
