This is for all of my shape shifters. You know who you are! Those of you that try and take care of everyone else, people please, have different versions of yourself for different groups of people... Why are you doing this? Here might be a little insight...
You know that sinking feeling when you're about to start something important—but instead, you scroll, organize a drawer, or suddenly need to deep-clean your entire kitchen?Or when you say yes to something you definitely don't want to do, just to avoid disappointing someone?Or when you rewrite an email seven times before sending it, making sure there's no room for anyone to judge you?But here's the truth: These aren't personality traits. They're actually stress responses.Perfectionism, people-pleasing, and procrastination aren't random habits—they're deeply wired patterns your nervous system created to keep you safe. At some point, your brain learned that being perfect, avoiding failure, or making everyone happy helped you avoid rejection, criticism, or disappointment. And now? These patterns are running on autopilot. But here's the good news: You can rewire them.In this episode, we're breaking down: ✔️ Why these patterns feel impossible to shake (spoiler: it's not a willpower issue) ✔️ How your nervous system keeps you stuck in stress loops—and what to do about it ✔️ The first steps to rewiring these patterns so you can move through life with more ease, confidence, and peaceBecause you're not stuck this way. And the sooner you stop seeing these patterns as your personality and start seeing them as something you can rewire, the sooner you'll finally feel free.Let's get into it.
In this episode, I'm diving into the taboo topic of people pleasing and the cycles that often accompany it. The conversation begins with an exploration of personal patterns and how they manifest in our lives if left unchecked. I'm sharing my own journey of recognizing my people-pleasing tendencies, the impact of external validation, and the importance of self-discovery in a whole new way. Hopefully, this discussion will emphasize the need to break free from societal 'shoulds' and to empower us to make decisions based on personal desires rather than external expectations. It's time We put people pleasing to bed, and end this heinous cycle of self abandonment in the name of "caring."

hi friend!happy thanksgiving eve! i'd love to tell you that this episode is all about what we're thankful for & finding the good, but honestly, that just did not feel right.ryan has joined me tonight & we're talking about what's really going on in our world, how we feel about it, & what we think you can - also - do, if you're amenable, to resisting the insanity in this world.has the podcast taken a turn? yes.would it be easier for everyone if i kept my mouth shut & kept focusing on grief, mental health, etc.? probably.can i live with myself if i continue down that path? absolutely not.ryan & i are not here to add to the fear mongering. ryan & i are not here to pick apart your belief system.what we are here to do, right here in this minute, is to ask you to look around you, to think critically, to do your research & to actually see what is happening in front of us. we're all busy. we all have a nucleus that we must focus on (kids, spouses, jobs, etc.) but at this point in time, i firmly believe we all need to come together & resist. we need to resist the absolute hate & insanity that is happening in our world.we need to stand up & support one another.we need to realize that we're all in this together.i hope that this episode strikes a cord in you & that we are able to move forward together, but if we're not able to, i understand & i wish you nothing but the best.i've always been thankful for you & i will continue to be thankful for you going forward. may you have a wonderful thanksgiving. xoxo

Trigger Warning: Domestic Abuse is mentioned in this episode. Sue was an intuitive, spunky, funny, little firecracker growing up until she learned it was better and safer to be quiet and unseen. Her protective Ego convinced her that if she wanted to receive love, she needed to be the “good girl.” This persona not only turned her into a People Please but also silenced her intuition and voice impacting every relationship in her life. It wasn't until Sue found the courage to leave her abusive marriage, in order to protect her daughters, that she started to find her voice and power again. Tune in to hear how Sue started listening to her Intuition again, which guided her on her healing journey, and into her “happily ever after!” In this Episode: 03:33 - Why now is the time to step into your “Main Character” energy. 05:06 - The triggering experience of being a judge at Taste of Madison. 06:30 - Welcoming my guest, Sue, and how our paths crossed. 09:50 - Understanding what it means when past weight loss strategies no longer work. 12:07 - How Sue's childhood experiences dimmed her light and led her to become a people-pleaser. 18:20 - The moment 5-year-old Sue learned not to trust her intuition. 25:35 - How Sue's Protective Ego guided her through school. 31:16 - The beginning of Sue's journey in reparenting her Inner Child through education and career. 37:00 - The impact of Sue's childhood wounds in her relationships and abusive marriage. 48:22 - Sue's efforts to provide her daughters with a supportive and nurturing childhood. 50:25 - How empowering herself to ask for help changed Sue's perception of failure. 53:46 - The struggle of losing oneself in motherhood while trying to create a better life for her children. 59:40 - Why your Inner Child holds the key to unlocking healing, potential, and success. 1:04:16 - How Sue's healing journey turned her dreams into reality. 1:08:30 - The ripple effect of Sue's healing on those around her. 1:13:44 - The importance of meeting people where they are with love and compassion without lowering your vibration. 1:15:23 - A touching healing moment between Sue and her sister. 1:20:30 - Sue's heartfelt advice for those curious about Inner Child Work and the emotional moment that brought me to tears. 1:22:40 - Finding love again and living out her Inner Child's fairytale. If you're a parent and you've taught your kids that doing something wrong will lead to you being disappointed, frustrated, or upset with them, you might be casing them to fear you rather than the natural consequences. Worse, you might also be training them to people-please in order to keep you happy. Don't worry, there are things you can do to cancel this and shift the focus away from you (the parent) to where it belongs-your kid. Let's talk about people-pleasing your mentors today! Perhaps you've had a time where you've put a coach or mentor up on a pedestal and tried to follow their steps . I let their success overshadow my instincts, wanting their approval instead of trusting my inner voice. We get to choose to stop prioritizing other's voices over our own. We hire them for their guidance, but ultimately, you have to be the one to choose the direction of your life and business or it's not going to feel good to you. So you get to stop ‘shoulding' all over yourself and truly step into your power + this pep talk is all about how! As a coach I help you lean into self-trust and empowerment. We do this through breathwork and helping you gain the tools to tap into the version of you that you desire to be now. I also offer a free integrative breathwork session if you are interested in experiencing what it can do for you. Disappointing other people feels hard. Full stop. It's hard. We don't want to do this as women. The part we miss thought is that it is also completely necessary. Women are raised to be people pleasers. We are raised to believe that it's our damn job to ensure that other people are happy. Many of us neurodivergent women have experienced significant trauma and people pleasing becomes an involuntary trauma response. That being said, disappointing people is something we need to learn how to do. It's an art. It requires a fair amount of discomfort, combined with learning how to lean into our values. Most women I meet are completely unaware of their personal values, so if this includes you, don't click away. Today's episode is going to teach you exactly how to create your own personal value system so that you can start disappointing others and stop disappointing yourself. You are going to want to save this one.Book that 20 minute free coaching session with Amanda: https://amandahesscoaching.as.me/mini

Feeling like you can't see past your pain? And it's causing you to overly PEOPLE PLEASE?! We've been there too, and we're here to tell you that your pain is not permanent. There is beauty in your brokenness. This week, Brittany Maher and Cassandra Speer of Her True Worth are here to share their stories, get vulnerable, and provide encouragement - and I hope this helps you to do the same. Because friend - you are not alone in this. We dove into childhood trauma as well as what we struggle with today, but these three things still rang true for ALL of us: There is purpose in our pain. Beauty in our brokenness. Our identity is found in Christ - no one or nothing else. You don't have to earn your worth. Jesus paid for you on the cross… and He doesn't have buyer's remorse. I hope all of this serves as a reminder to you that you are LOVED & nothing can change that. So let this nourish your soul, provide some encouragement, and we'll see you next week, friends. In this week's episode, I share what I think about the "Golden Rule" and people pleasing. I answer the Reddit friendship advice post, "Stopped People Pleasing—Lost All Friends"
We get into people pleasing by energetic type in this one. In other words, how does our auric design play into the ways we show up and people please in our daily existence? People pleasing is a conditioned behavior that we are all so taught to believe is “good” or “right”. We're saying, enough of all that! We're going into the rest of this life experience dropping all that and reframing, bringing awareness to, and celebrating and loving ourselves by being who we are instead! Living from a place of people pleasing is not sustainable and it really brings up our not-self, so let's try a different way. We think we can all handle it, and we'll all be better for it. Ultimately, in letting the fear of change or resistance to ending a relationship get in the way of what's in most alignment for ourselves, we not only jeopardize our integrity, but we block ourselves from having experiences and relationships that work for the greater good. The conversation kicks off with a discussion around a recent experience I've had severing a professional relationship, the fear and resistance that came up in that process, and how I was able to navigate those emotions to ultimately end up at a peaceful resolution. My podcast producer, Bailey, and I also explore how our attachments influence how we think of ourselves, why it can be so challenging to set boundaries with those we have attachments to, how to determine if a partnership is beneficial or harmful overall, and the different ways we can change the dynamic of a relationship to best support our overall well being. “Everything happens for a reason” – Ali WestHave you heard the one about the young boy who suffered trauma early on in life? You know, the one where his circumstances made him more on the timid side, but as he got older he learned balance and how to not be so much of a “Nice Guy”. Today's guest is going to share with us how he learned to awaken the power inside of himself, and how he even used plant-based medicine to help him with that. He talks a little bit about growing up in Nottingham. Yes, Nottingham. Like Robinhood Nottingham. Then he takes us through his life journey of becoming a physical trainer, then a gym owner, and then leaving it all behind to travel the world. Today, he and his wife travel like nomads throughout the world while they work remotely and coach clients. Listen or watch now to see how he does it, and you can too. Have you ever experienced the pressure of people pleasing? If so, today's episode is for you. I've been a people pleaser my whole life. I've went to great lengths to be all things at one time. I would love to say I have mastered it all, however.. Its quite the opposite. In todays episode I take you into my intimate season of life where I'm learning how to say " no " to people pleasing & learning to say " yes " to pleasing myself. I'm learning to love all parts of me, including the parts that I don't always know how to show to others. People pleasing has gotten me pretty far in life, but now.. it's time to see who I really am underneath the fear of "what they will think", the seeking for validation, the avoiding conflict, the saying yes to everyone, the anticipation of meeting the needs of others, the morphing into what ever version of myself that needs to perform, under all of it. I am simply a human who doesn't have it all figured out. I'm learning as I go to let go & just live. This is where I become MOORE of who I really am & less of the idea of what I am to other people. At the end of the day, "Your need for acceptance/validation can make you invisible in this world" So here's my thoughts. Take what applies, leave the rest, & always strive to be MOORE of yourself. There's only one you! All parts are welcome my friend. You are worthy of love just the way you are at your core self. Don't ever forget that. Taking my own advice, Alex M

As a highly sensitive woman, it can be easy to find ourselves in a place of over, giving pleasing and fixing - and then feeling resentment anger, and like we're a victim to the people that we chose to try and fix please, and over give to. We must take radical responsibility for our choices and heal the parts of us that feel the need to fix, please, and save others. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hellojustina/message

Do you struggle with saying no?Do you find yourself constantly trying to make other people happy, even if you aren't?Do you worry about what other people are thinking? And what they are thinking about you?Well, if you answered yes, I can fully relate to this because I used to be the picture of a people pleaser. I am also going to help you by giving you some practical ideas of how you can change this behavior.
