Dopey Film Festival: https://buytickets.at/thedopeyfoundation/2216905 Listen without ads www.patreon.com/dopeypodcast This week on the Wednesday Dose of Dopey, Dave opens the show with Brer Brian's Dopey Wednesday anthem and immediately starts hustling tickets for the upcoming Dopey Short Film Festival in New York City. Dave explains that only nine tickets have sold so far and promises cheap tickets, food, fellowship, desserts, filmmakers, and recovery community vibes. He begs the Dopey Nation to come out and support the event while Winnie the dog barks in the background. Before getting to the main interview, Dave plays an absolutely insane voicemail from longtime Dopey contributor JD DeHart about surviving a cocaine overdose during a three-day binge in a trailer in Mississippi when he was 20 years old. JD describes an old-school coke and crack marathon involving an entire ounce of cocaine, nonstop shooting coke, smoking crack, drinking beer, no sleep, no food, and no water. He vividly recounts doing a gigantic shot of cocaine and suddenly entering a terrifying paralysis where he could hear and see everything but couldn't move a single part of his body. JD compares the experience to the Metallica “One” video and explains how his paranoid dealer friend may have saved his life by slapping him awake, giving him water and food, and slowly bringing him out of the overdose. Naturally, once he recovered, the first thing he did was smoke an enormous crack hit. Dave praises the voicemail and thanks JD for consistently contributing incredible stories to the show. Dave then dives into Patreon and Spotify comments responding to last week's controversial Blake Mycoskie episode. Listeners debate rich-guy recovery, psychedelic therapy, AI therapy, polo, founder culture, and whether wealthy people talking about depression is relatable to the average Dopey listener. Some commenters defend the episode and appreciate hearing about mental health and self-worth, while others say they turned it off the moment Blake started discussing AI therapy or learning polo in Argentina. Dave jokes that people should blame John Bukaty for bringing in “woo-woo guests,” but still says he genuinely liked Blake and appreciated trying something different. The comment section also leads to discussions about recovery, privilege, treatment access, government responsibility for addiction, and Dave's ongoing balancing act between growing Dopey and maintaining authenticity. Dave also reads a moving Spotify comment from a listener celebrating 120 days clean after a devastating relapse that nearly destroyed his marriage and relationship with his child. Other listeners compliment Dave's podcasting skills, compare his intros to Marc Maron, and joke about Tesla AI therapy and rich recovery people. Dave also contemplates launching a higher Patreon tier with an exclusive Zoom while openly joking about his “cynical cash grab” tendencies and his need to support his family. The centerpiece of the episode is Dave's long conversation with Skinny Vinny inside Steve-O's Wild Ride podcast van in Sherman Oaks, California. The interview covers almost every phase of Vinny's chaotic life story. Vinny explains how the Wild Ride podcast went on hiatus after backlash surrounding a sarcastic Steve-O clip from an episode with Harlan Williams that got taken out of context online. Vinny talks openly about Steve-O's sensitivity, internet outrage culture, and the emotional toll of constant public criticism. The conversation then shifts into Vinny's upbringing in Connecticut and his lifelong obsession with Jackass. Vinny tells the story of being a kid with a camera glued to his hand, idolizing Bam Margera and Jeff Tremaine, and eventually convincing Bam to punch him in the face at a skate shop signing when he was a teenager. Dave and Vinny reminisce about old Jackass dreams eventually becoming reality years later through recovery and content creation. Vinny dives deep into his addiction history, including following Phish and Bob Weir tours while constantly inhaling nitrous balloons in parking lots, discovering Silk Road drug markets in Vermont, and eventually falling into severe heroin addiction. He recounts horrifying years living in Vermont, where heroin was outrageously expensive, and where he watched his girlfriend overdose in front of her parents after both of them desperately tried to detox using kratom. Vinny also describes his obsession with needles, famously saying, “If I could rig it, I could dig it,” while discussing shooting heroin and eventually shooting liquid LSD purchased from Silk Road. One of the darkest sections of the interview involves Vinny describing his infamous “porta potty bottom.” After burning every bridge and alienating everyone in his life, Vinny ended up secretly living inside a handicapped-sized porta potty in Connecticut while hustling to survive. He explains his daily routine of waking up at sunrise, hiding blankets in bushes, charging his Obama phone at Dunkin Donuts, stealing energy drinks from grocery stores, selling them to bodegas, buying heroin and crack, and repeating the cycle endlessly. Dave and Vinny talk about the terrifying comfort that comes with fully accepting life as a hopeless junkie. Vinny also recounts his arrest, jail sentence, and the legendary “prison pocket” story. Knowing he had to turn himself in, Vinny literally trained his body to smuggle heroin, Xanax, rolling tobacco, papers, and even needles into jail. He explains how he eventually ran out of drugs behind bars and suffered brutally through withdrawal on the top bunk in jail while promising himself he'd never use again — only to get released and immediately return to hustling and heroin. The interview takes a more hopeful turn as Vinny explains how recovery unexpectedly transformed his life. He talks about meeting Zackass in sober living, becoming indispensable behind the camera, eventually becoming a co-host, and later joining Steve-O's Wild Ride. Vinny describes feeling like recovery gave him the exact life he fantasized about as a kid obsessed with Jackass culture. Dave and Vinny repeatedly discuss the strange intersection of manifestation, luck, spirituality, showing up, and being willing to work hard without getting high. Later in the interview, Vinny opens up emotionally about his failed marriage to a Canadian woman, the devastating heartbreak that followed, and the depression that nearly broke him. He describes locking himself in his apartment for 45 days, barely eating, crying himself to sleep, and seriously considering drinking despite years of sobriety. Instead of relapsing, Vinny redirected all of his pain into fitness, weight loss, and self-improvement. He explains how discovering peptides, returning to the gym, diving back into recovery meetings and service work, and focusing entirely on himself ultimately helped him lose over 200 pounds and completely transform his life. The episode ends with Vinny discussing his plans to open a sober living house called The Comeback with a former client from his early recovery days. Dave and Vinny also joke about Canadians, Dopeywood structure problems, podcasting, body dysmorphia, fear dreams, and the strange reality of surviving addiction long enough to accidentally build a meaningful life. Dave closes the episode asking listeners yet again to buy film festival tickets, join Patreon, leave Spotify comments, send voicemails, and stay involved in the Dopey community before ending, as always, with “Stay strong Dopey Nation and fucking toodles for Chris.” Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Most of us have a bad hair day or we're not happy if we have a little pimple on our face. But that's quite different from the experience of people with body dysmorphic disorder.  (BDD)  More than simple insecurity about one's appearance, BDD is a disorder in which a person's perception of their appearance becomes all-consuming and deeply distressing. Perfectly normal looking people can see themselves as horribly ugly.  Or one minor detail becomes an enormous fixation, like the patient who said they felt they were just one giant pimple with hands and feet.   In this episode, Dr. Phil Stieg speaks with psychiatrist and BDD expert Dr. Katharine Phillips about how altered visual processing in the brain leads individuals to fixate on minor and often imagined flaws, while behaviors like mirror-checking and reassurance seeking reinforce the cycle of negative perception. Dr. Phillips highlights the serious mental health risks associated with this condition and discusses evidence-based treatments that have led many patients to a meaningful recovery. When does an insecurity cross the line into a mental health disorder? It's not as obvious as you think. In this episode of Plastic Surgery Uncensored, Dr. Rady Rahban breaks down one of the most important distinctions in aesthetic medicine: the difference between normal self-improvement—and true body dysmorphia.Because while insecurity is part of being human…There's a point where it stops being physical—and becomes psychological. And if you miss that line, surgery doesn't help.It makes things worse. Here's what he unpacks:• What body dysmorphia actually is—and why it's often misunderstood• The defining traits: obsession, distortion, and fixation on minor or nonexistent flaws• Why hearing “this is ruining my life” is a major red flag• The significance of multiple consults—and when it signals a deeper issue• Why some patients can never be satisfied—no matter how technically successful the surgery is• How social media, filters, and AI are accelerating distorted self-perception—especially in younger patientsHe also addresses a reality most won't say out loud:In a field with increasing access and fewer barriers, the responsibility to protect patients falls on the provider. Because not every patient should be operated on.Dr. Rahban explains how he evaluates not just anatomy—but psychological readiness—and why sometimes the most ethical decision is to say no.If you've ever questioned whether something is truly worth fixing—or wondered where the line actually is—this episode offers a clear, unfiltered framework to help you understand it.✨ If you enjoyed this episode of Plastic Surgery Uncensored:✔️ Subscribe on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen.✔️ Rate & Review—your feedback helps more people find us.✔️ Follow Dr. Rady Rahban across all platforms for daily insights, behind-the-scenes, and patient education:Instagram: @drradyrahbanTikTok: @radyrahbanMDYouTube: @Rady RahbanFacebook: @Rady Rahban✔️ Share this episode with someone considering plastic surgery—the right knowledge can save a life.

Melanie and Codie open up about their decision to get tummy tucks—not from a place of vanity alone, but from a place of healing, functionality, identity, and finally choosing themselves. Because for some women, this isn't just about how you look…It's about how you live. The Mamas get honest about: • The mental warfare of not feeling at home in your body • The difference between repair, vanity, and personal choice • Why transparency matters—but also why every woman gets to choose her story • Letting go of shame, judgment, and the pressure to “earn” your body And maybe most importantly: Why suffering in silence shouldn't be the standard for women. Whether you would never consider surgery, have thought about it privately, or are navigating your own body journey—this conversation creates space for honesty, freedom, and grace. Do you spend way too much time checking yourself in the mirror? Fixating on flaws that nobody else seems to notice? Canceling plans because you feel like you look "off" that day? You're not alone, and this isn't about vanity—this is about a real struggle that deserves understanding. Today we're diving into Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and how it shows up in eating disorder recovery. The statistics are eye-opening: while only 1 in 50 people in the general population experience BDD, 25-40% of people with eating disorders also struggle with body dysmorphic disorder. In this episode, you'll discover: What Body Dysmorphic Disorder actually is (beyond occasional insecurity) The shocking connection between eating disorders and BDD Real client story: How BDD stole years of living from a successful VP 6 practical tools to break free from obsessive body thoughts Why "your body is an instrument, not an ornament" How to practice body neutrality when body positivity feels impossible The difference between healthy awareness and destructive obsession This goes beyond the mirror—it's about reclaiming the mental energy that's been stolen from you and learning to live present in your own life. THE EYE-OPENING STATISTICS 1 in 50 people in general population experience Body Dysmorphic Disorder 25-40% of people with eating disorders also struggle with BDD This means: If you're struggling with disordered eating, there's a much higher chance you're also dealing with body dysmorphic disorder. WHAT IS BODY DYSMORPHIC DISORDER? BDD is classified in the DSM-5 under Obsessive Compulsive and Related Disorders. It's when thoughts about your appearance become all-consuming—when they start stealing your joy and limiting your life. This isn't about vanity. This is about genuine struggle that deserves compassion and understanding. Common signs include: Spending hours checking your appearance in mirrors Constantly comparing yourself to others (especially on social media) Avoiding social settings because you're convinced everyone is staring Taking dozens of photos from different angles to "capture what you really look like" Canceling plans when you feel you look "off" Fixating on specific body parts (face, stomach, skin, weight) CLIENT STORY: ELLA'S BREAKTHROUGH Ella was a VP at her company—successful, married, two kids. From the outside, everything looked perfect. But inside, she was crumbling. Ella spent hours fixating on what she perceived as facial asymmetry and "hating her stomach." She would: Cancel plans if her appearance didn't feel right Take dozens of selfies from different angles Hibernate in loose clothing when her stomach wasn't "flat enough" Miss out on living because she was trapped in the obsession The truth: When I looked at Ella, I saw an amazingly beautiful and confident woman. The things she fixated on weren't visible to me or anyone else in her life. Six months later, Ella shared: "For the first time in years, I went to my daughter's birthday party and I didn't think about my appearance. I was just there. I was present. I laughed, and I played and I connected. This is what living feels like." 6 TOOLS TO BREAK FREE FROM BODY OBSESSION 1. Practice Awareness Notice when you're engaging in checking behaviors Observe with compassion: "I notice I'm having thoughts right now" Technique: Set a timer when getting ready—when it goes off, walk away from the mirror no matter what 2. Challenge the Distortion Question absolute thoughts: "Everyone notices this about me" or "I look disgusting" Exercise: Write how you'd respond if your best friend shared the same concerns Remember: "Our minds distort our mirrors" 3. Reduce Comparison (Eliminate If Possible) Studies show increased social media correlates with worse BDD symptoms Action: Go on a social media detox or unfollow triggering accounts Replace scrolling time with something that feeds your soul 4. Redirect Your Focus Create a list of activities that fully engage your mind Have this list ready BEFORE the thoughts hit Examples: Reading, puzzles, nature walks, calling a friend 5. Practice Body Neutrality Focus on what your body can DO rather than how it looks "Can your legs carry you through the day? Can your arms hug people you love?" Remember: Your body is an instrument, not an ornament 6. Seek Help and Support BDD responds well to treatments like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Working with specialists in body image issues makes an enormous difference You don't have to heal from this alone THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR BODY Your body was never meant to be your life's work. It was meant to champion you in doing your life's purpose and your life's work. You only have one precious life. You deserve to: Be present and laugh without wondering how your face looks Eat cake without worrying about your stomach afterward Connect deeply without background noise of how others view you Live without the mental prison of appearance obsession KEY QUOTES

If you've checked your body more than your bank account this week… we need to have a real conversation. In this episode of Boss Bitch Radio, I'm breaking down the truth about body dysmorphia after bodybuilding - especially the part no one talks about. The post-show weight gain. The scale obsession. The body checking. The comparing yourself to your stage photos at 10PM like it's a full-time job. In this episode, we talk about what body dysmorphia actually looks like for competitors and extreme dieters. I break down the daily rituals that quietly make it worse - constant weighing, body checking, zooming in on photos, pinching, posing, comparing to peak week. These habits feel like "staying aware"… but they're actually keeping you stuck. If you're ready to rebuild food trust, train for real life, and finally feel strong and hot without being trapped in your old bodybuilding identity - I've got you!

Amy reviews the outfit ChatGPT chose for her. Spoiler alert: She had to buy a new sick jacket on her trip. The ladies get deep into the Olympics. Let's face it, some of these events are boring. Maya thinks there are too many people falling down. Amy wants to add “normies” to the Olympics. Amy doesn't think curling is a sport. Maya spills the tea on the ski jumping crotch controversy. The gals recap the Quad God's disastrous men's skating final and the little buddy from Kazakhstan who had the best day of his life. We love this little buddy from Kazakhstan! Youth Culture Today with Walt Mueller

In the past, you've heard me talk about the epidemic of body dysmorphia which is spreading like wildfire thanks to social media. Body dysmorphia is defined as a mental disorder marked by an overwhelming and all-consuming preoccupation with a perceived flaw in one's appearance. One new subset is what's called muscle dysmorphia, a belief that one's body is too small, too skinny, and not muscular enough. This has also been called bigorexia, megarexia, and reverse anorexia. Mental health and medical experts are now warning that this is the latest eating disorder affecting our teens, as more and more teenagers, particularly our boys, are struggling with bigorexia. Much of this is being fueled by the presence of social media and the comparison it fosters, while promoting muscularity as a measure of one's value. We must help our kids understand that their identity is not to be found in what they look like. Rather, it's the value they already have in God's eyes that counts.

They also map the full behavioral health ecosystem—from psych nurse practitioners to therapists to the psych pharmacist—and clarify when and how teams should refer patients for the right level of support. The takeaway is simple: earlier behavioral health intervention can improve lives, reduce hospital visits, and strengthen value-based care outcomes system-wide. www.YourHealth.Org

Fifty years ago there was little or no knowledge among teenagers about eating disorders like anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. In today's image-obsessed and social-media saturated world, the great majority of our kids not only stress over their appearance, but many are struggling with body dysmorphia, which is defined as a mental health condition in which you can't stop thinking about one or more perceived defects or flaws in your appearance. New data from a study of thirty-nine-thousand adolescents ages fourteen to eighteen reports that the dominant factor raising the risk of self-harm, including suicide, is one's perception regarding their weight. Our kids are being hammered by a constant diet of marketing images and social media posts which leave them feeling inadequate and less than. As Christian parents, we must affirm their standing as loved divine-image bearers, emphasizing the fact that God looks on the inside, not the outside. Our identity is not to be found in appearance.

Send us a textWhat happens when you look in the mirror and no longer recognize the survivor staring back at you?For many women recovering from breast cancer, burn injuries, or traumatic accidents, the physical battle may be over, but the emotional war with their own reflection has just begun. In this deeply moving and transformative episode, host Lira Ndifon sits down with Yesenia Nissan, a Bay Area-based Permanent Makeup and Paramedical Tattoo Artist who is redefining the intersection of beauty and mental health.Yesenia takes us into the delicate world of Paramedical Tattooing—a specialized art form used to create realistic 3D areolas and camouflage scars. She shares her pivot from a corporate medical career at Stanford to finding her soul's calling: using ink to help women reclaim the narrative of their bodies. Yesenia recounts the tearful, pivotal moment she handed a mirror to a cancer survivor who had lost her brows to chemotherapy, witnessing not just a physical change, but a profound "relaxation of the nervous system" as the woman finally saw herself again. But Yesenia's empathy is born from her own fires. She opens up about her personal journey as a teen mother at 16, navigating the stigmas of single motherhood in the expensive Bay Area, and rebuilding her own shattered confidence through faith and resilience. This is a conversation about more than just skin. You will discover:The Science of Visual Healing: How restoring physical features like the breast can trick the brain into releasing trauma and anxiety.Beyond Vanity: Why seeking aesthetic restoration isn't about hiding; it's about taking control of your story. The Single Mom Hustle: Yesenia's raw advice on overcoming societal "brokenness" and finding power in motherhood.Faith & Business: How spirituality guides Yesenia's hands and helps her hold space for her clients' grief and joy. This episode is a beautiful reminder that while we cannot always erase our scars, we have the absolute power to redefine what they mean.

Sabrena Collins had what most people would call a good upbringing — but by 13 years old, she was already hooked on meth. After getting sober once, a painful divorce sent her spiraling back into addiction and deeper into the drug world. What started as using turned into selling, and one night a police chase changed everything — ending with Sabrena being shot in the head by law enforcement. Instead of ending there, things got worse. Sabrena was charged by the DEA in a federal drug conspiracy case for trafficking meth and was sentenced to 9 years in federal prison. #ShotInTheHead #PoliceShootings #PrisonStory #TrueCrimePodcast #PrisonDocumentary #SurvivalStory #PrisonInterview #lockedinpodcast Connect with Sabrena Collins: Tiktok@ sabrenamorgan Facebook @ Sabrena Morgan Insta @thesabrenamorgan YouTube @thesabrenamorgan Www.transformingcriminaljustice.com Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ Presented by Tyson 2.0 & Wooooo Energy: https://tyson20.com/ https://woooooenergy.com/ Use code LOCKEDIN for 20% OFF Wooooo Energy Buy Merch: http://www.ianbick.com/shop Timestamps: 00:00 Shot in the Head & 9 Years in Prison: Meet Sabrina Collins 02:00 Growing Up in Kansas City & Family Life 06:00 Struggling with Body Dysmorphia & Diet Pills at a Young Age 08:30 Turning to Meth & Living a Double Life 13:00 Hiding Addiction from Family & Excelling in School 18:00 College Years, Quitting Meth & Big Life Choices 22:00 Marriage, Motherhood & Becoming a Real Estate Agent 27:00 Divorce, Custody Battles & Emotional Collapse 36:00 Relapse, Drug Dealing & Mental Health Spiral 41:00 High-Speed Chase & Getting Shot by Police 47:00 DEA Investigation & Federal Arrest 51:00 Indictment & The Moment Everything Changed 54:00 Pre-Trial Rehab: Getting Clean Before Prison 59:00 Sentenced to 9 Years in Federal Prison 01:04:00 Prison Life: Survival, Growth & Finding Purpose 01:12:00 Halfway House & Home Confinement Challenges 01:18:00 Becoming an Advocate & Rebuilding Her Life 01:23:00 Early Clemency: The Day She Walked Free 01:27:00 Life After Prison: Adjusting to Freedom 01:33:00 TikTok, Community & Helping Other Women 01:39:00 What the Prison System Gets Wrong & Needs to Fix 01:45:00 Nonprofit Work, Advocacy & Fighting for Change 01:51:00 Advice to Her 13-Year-Old Self & Final Thoughts Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode of Skin Anarchy, Dr. Ekta sits down with Bree McKeen, founder of Evelyn & Bobbie, the brand rewriting the rules of bras with comfort, science, and confidence at the core. For decades, bras have been built on outdated designs that cause pain, poor posture, and even body dysmorphia. Bree is here to change that.Coming from a background in finance and healthcare investing, Bree didn't expect to end up in fashion. But as a woman wearing a 34G bra through long workdays, she knew the frustration firsthand—rigid underwires, digging straps, and sizing chaos that never seemed to fit. Instead of blaming her body, Bree questioned why bras hadn't evolved in nearly a century. That question sparked a revolution. At Evelyn & Bobbie, bras are reengineered for real bodies, not flat blueprints. With input from over 270 fit models, flexible sizing, and adaptive fabrics developed with top athletic manufacturers, their designs mold to your shape instead of fighting it. No underwires, no shame—just support that feels like a second skin. But this isn't just about comfort. Evelyn & Bobbie bras are trusted by surgeons for post-surgical recovery, praised for posture-friendly design, and cherished by women rediscovering confidence after years of pain and poor fit. Their message is bold and simple: your body is perfect—bras are the problem.
