In President Biden's speech to the United Nations yesterday, he declared U.S. support for a long list of problematic leftist approaches to, among other things: climate change, food insecurity, human rights, international peace and the LGTBQ agenda. In the mix, he endorsed a particularly dubious idea: Adding more nations as veto-wielding permanent members of the UN Security Council. The Left has long promoted this idea as not only as a way to elevate the stature of their favorite Third World countries in various regions, but to diminish the clout of existing Western members, including the United States. Mr. Biden implicitly condemned Russia's use of its Security Council veto, yet favors giving that power to more states. The practical effect would be to eliminate whatever limited utility the Council still has, rendering it little more than an expensive, but utterly irrelevant, debating society.   This is Frank Gaffney.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Mikalah Gordon over Zoom video. Mikalah has been able to find strength and healing from rough times through the power of music, with the journey to her first-ever record. In the height of the Pandemic, the artist found herself in a place of depression (like many of us) after losing her best friend (her grandmother) and being stuck in the world we were forced to live through in 2020. To help process her emotions, her friend and mutual Idol alum, Brandon Rogers, invited her into the studio to write out her feelings. This collaborative effort also features her first ever bilingual track, musicians who've worked with LGTBQ+ icon Lady Gaga, and even a duet with Mikalah's brother (who recently left to join the U.S. Army) leading to a cathartic record that shares Mikalah's story and universal themes of love, loss, and self-acceptance. Now, Mikalah has just released her newest single, “Hands Off” off of her debut album VIVIAN, named after the singer's later grandmother. Mikalah Gordon knows how to take multifaceted to a whole new level. A Vegas native and proud LGBTQ+ Italian-American, Mikalah channels her love of family, her culture, and entertainment across music, comedy, acting, and as a TV personality/host. At only 17 years old, her time as a Top 12 contestant on American Idol Season 4 kick started her career with a national audience that took to her unique stage presence and powerful vocals. Mikalah would soon after return to Idol as a co-host for “American Idol Extra” and go on to create her own YouTube series, Idolatry, where she interviewed former coaches and contestants In addition to this exciting step into music, Mikalah continues to host Channel Q's ‘The Morning Beat' and World's Funniest & Weirdest on the CW. When Kellie sent an audition tape to be on Ellen DeGeneres' Game of Games in 2018, she was a teacher, making the tape with her students hoping to be be selected to be on this fun game show. She had an abundance of creative energy. At the time, Kellie was passionately working on writing a fiction book dedicated to Matthew Shepard and the LGTBQ+ community. Time went by, however, and no call came about the audition tape. Kellie said that eventually she almost forgot about the tape.  Over the years, Kellie's adopted son, Chris, had many struggles with addiction. When the pandemic hit in 2020, he was desperately trying to put his life back together, but the isolation during the early days of COVID became too much for him. Kellie suspected that her son relapsed. The combination of the isolation of the pandemic and the overwhelming nature of addiction was too much for him. In the summer of 2020, Chris died by suicide. In her overwhelming grief, Kellie found herself unable to even get off of the couch. She didn't want to shower or care for herself. Her creative nature was completely gone. The book writing stopped. Then something unexpected happened. After 2 years, Game of Games invited her to be a contestant. Instinctively, she wanted turn them down, but Kellie knew in her heart that God and Chris were behind this - it was not random. Kellie was ‘supposed' to be on that show. During that trip to California, something truly amazing happened. Kellie could feel Chris beside her pushing her along, comforting her. The healing certainly did not end in California, but it did ever so quietly begin there. Forcing herself to get up and smile opened up her heart again. Her creativity blossomed again. She started writing that book again complete with a cameo appearance by Chris at the end. Now, Kellie will be the first one to tell you that she is not healed, and that, in fact, she is far from it, but she is moving forward with Chris right beside her. She finished and published her book, Mount Hope, which is available here on Amazon. Kellie focuses on sharing love and compassion to as many people as she can reach and is now an inspiration to many.

If you're wondering how you can more actively foster safety and belonging for LGBTQ+ folks in your online community, there's precedent to learn and borrow from. In this episode of Community Signal, we're joined by Samantha “Venia” Logan, the CEO and founder of Socially Constructed. Venia shares lessons from her decade of experience building community for LGBTQ+ individuals, which started when she began sharing her transition journey on YouTube.  Patrick and Venia discuss tools, policies, and practices that can help build queer friendly spaces over time. For example, how easy is it for someone to edit their profile information within your online community? What specific policies do you have in place to protect LGTBQ+ people? And a big one – how are others in your organization (outside of the community team) contributing to diversity and inclusion? At this point you might be asking, “how do I measure or communicate progress?” To this we ask, what are community-based outcomes that indicate someone feels safe contributing and like they belong? As Venia explains (15:23): “As a person feels more and more comfortable self-disclosing, they're going to use more organic language, they're going to talk a lot more, their rate of inclusion is going to increase, but so will the length of their posts.” Work with your community to figure out which behaviors relate to their sense of inclusion and measure those over time. Patrick and Venia also discuss: Making pronouns part of everyday conversations Twitter's policies and handling of a recent high-profile deadnaming case Being intentional about your metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) Big Quotes Make space for everyone to share their pronouns in everyday conversation (08:48): “Pronouns are not just a segment that you're going to put on your profile. … At every meeting, [if] you invite people to share their pronouns – cis, trans, doesn't matter – it essentially says, pervasively speaking, this is a queer-friendly, queer-safe space. … Oftentimes, you want to implement these rules so that you're not looking for explicit consent, you're looking for implicit acceptance.” –@SamanthaVenia Focus on tracking the behaviors that matter most to your community (14:23): “[With metrics], we need to return to a notion of simplicity, where we are recording things that people actually want us to listen to. When people engage in our online communities, they are leaving behind comments, behaviors, artifacts of conversation, and they want us to pay attention to those things, so why are we recording every single move they make in a community and not recording anything about the nature of the comment they left?” –@SamanthaVenia Perfectly accurate data reporting does not exist, instead, try replicating your results (18:06): “Instead of worrying about gross amounts of accuracy in your data … [measure] it again. The exact same thing that you did, in a second spot, in a second scope, just do it again, and again, and again. Once you repeat the same process and you have four corollary actions that are all telling you the same thing and one that's different, what is the resolution of your action? It just skyrocketed without you ever having to be accurate. Social science is not about causation, it's about enough correlation to infer causation.” –@SamanthaVenia Keep spaces safe by upholding the commitment to exclusivity (20:50): “Don't expand what's working for a safe space because keeping an exclusive space is what made that place safe. Instead, go over to the other place, reproduce your success, diversify it. The phrase that I use is ‘Don't expand, diversify.' Exclusivity breeds inclusivity.” –@SamanthaVenia If you're creating a space for everyone, you're creating a space for no one (23:56): “When you try to please everyone, you end up pleasing no one, and you end up having no one because no one feels particularly special, or catered to, or welcome in those spaces.” –@patrickokeefe Focus on your role of setting precedent, building momentum (24:59): “I will boil down any community management job from architect, coordinator, moderator, facilitator… it doesn't matter what you do in community. Your job is to set precedent, to do a thing, then build momentum for that thing until the community is doing it on its own.” –@SamanthaVenia About Samantha “Venia” Logan In 2010, Samantha “Venia” Logan transitioned from male to female and shared her entire 10-year journey on YouTube. Over the next decade, that decision snowballed into an active and healthy career in community management, diversity, education, and measurement in anonymous community health. In 2012, Venia founded RESCQU.NET, a nonprofit organization that simultaneously marketed to an invisible audience and catered to their anonymity. In 2017, she graduated with a degree focused on community management and became a full-stack marketer at DigitalMarketer. Apparently there is a group of Evangelical Christian furries out there who are worried about being judged... for disliking LGTBQ+ folks. Read the article here: https://onlysky.media/hemant-mehta/ev... We know we have questions. Do you? Call us at 585-526-8774 or https://tiny.cc/callSG._________________TIME STAMPS & CALL NOTES 00:00 - Intro - Vi Needs to Talk About Christian Homophobic Furries 13:08 - Is Having Kids Selfish? - Phillip (he/him) - CA30:50 - Theist Says Misogyny is OK - Dale (she/her) - TX49:32 - Can You Practice Astrology As A Skeptic? - Joshua (he/him) - NC1:05:48 - Should the Human Race Continue? - Wolfos (he/him) - TX1:12:47 - Anti-Natalism Counterargument - Ami (she/her) - CAN 00:00 Vi goes on a bit of a rant about the Christian Furry Fellowship, a group of Evangelicals who are worried that being anti-gay will get them doxxed by their fellow furries. The burning question is: How are they justifying being furries while maintaining their anti-gay stances? Doesn't that cause massive amounts of cognitive dissonance? Also, Vi gets educated on the furry community by the comments! 13:08Is having children a bad thing? This caller is trying to figure out if their anti-natalism argument makes sense, and wants the hosts' opinions. Eric engages with his own doubts about the topic and how to make sense of the logic of it, and Vi prompts him to dig beyond the biological instinct to survive. 30:50This Baha'i caller tries to explain that her religion is not misogynist… by defending misogyny. The hosts are not having any of it, and Vi gets especially hot under the collar after their questions about progressive revelation are dodged. How can you call yourself a feminist and actively defend a system that restricts womens' access to power? 49:32What do the hosts think about practicing astrology while denying the idea that the stars can impact our day-to-day lives? Is it irresponsible? Or is it harmless fun? The answer, it turns out, is a bit more complicated than that. Eric discusses the need for transparency and education, and Vi encourages the caller to make sure he is exercising a consistent logical framework. 1:05:48Repeat caller Wolfos calls in for the first time in a while. After hearing the hosts discuss anti-natalism with the previous caller, he is grappling with the question: should humanity exist at all? Vi cautions that even though their personal philosophy leads to anti-natalism, discussion of limiting procreation of others has been used to perpetuate eugenics in the past. 1:12:47 Continuing with the anti-natalist theme of the week, this caller wants to defend humanity's right to continue existing as a link in the greater evolutionary chain. But how does one make this argument knowing how detrimental humans have been to the evolution of other species? And should we be arguing against human flourishing or against capitalism? _________________Skeptic Generation is LIVE every Sunday at 11:30am-1:00pm CTCall on your phone: 585-LA-MURPH (585-526-8774) Call online: https://tiny.cc/callSG Love the show? Belonging is vital if our kids are to learn. They need to feel understood and safe, and that often starts with teachers. But teachers have a lot on their plates already, and new legislation has them fearful that they'll do or say something that might jeopardize their jobs.   While this podcast episode doesn't solve this challenge, it spotlights the need for more conversations around creating spaces for youth who don't want to fit in a box that society created for them.   Patti Hearn is a school and educational leader in the Pacific Northwest who started a school for girls and gender non-conforming kids so they would have the opportunity to “become competent risk takers and courageous mistake makers.” In this episode, we talk about why parents and leaders might want to build their own school, why it's so important that we listen to our youth, how to honor student rights, how the legal landscape is impacting our ability to serve all learners, and so much more.   Patti has been there and done that and she's now using her knowledge to support other parents and educators in ensuring that more kids have access to the space and education they deserve. About Patti Hearn: Patti Hearn is passionate about education and believes in working to help individuals, families, and schools forge authentic paths. Patti was the Founding Head of Lake Washington Girls Middle School in Seattle, where, for over two decades, she offered girls and gender non-conforming kids the opportunity to become competent risk takers and courageous mistake makers.  She then brought her knowledge and passion for innovative middle school programs to lead Seattle School for Boys, and she launched Verge Consulting to provide consultation and coaching to educators, school leaders, and founders of new schools, as well as school placement support for families.   Patti shares her thinking and work in feminist, anti-racist, and LGBTQ+ inclusive education, social-emotional learning, startup culture in education, creative confidence, STEAM, executive functioning, and inclusive leadership. Her conference presentations include the National Association of Independent Schools, the International Coalition of Girls' Schools, the Seattle Interactive Conference, the Teaching and Education Summit, and the Northwest Association of Independent Schools.   https://www.linkedin.com/in/patriciahearn/ https://twitter.com/patti_hearn Jump in the Conversation: [1:33] - Where Patti's school transformation began [2:55] - Helping students to become competent risk takers and courageous mistake makers [5:25] - Why you might want to build a startup school [7:17] - How to make a change [8:19] - Youth speaking up about gender noncoforming; we need to address that [9:40] - All kids have value; it's about loving the individual not about the labels [10:26] - how the legal landscape is impacting our ability to serve all learners fully [11:56] - All kids benefit from inclusion [12:45] - Teachers aren't clear enough about they can and can't say and they fear for their livelihoods [14:32] - It's life-saving to have a caring adult at school  [18:27] - How to honor student rights and be an advocate [20:30] - Turbo Time [22:39] - What people need to know about serving LGTBQ+ kids  [25:48] - Patti's Magic Wand [20:02] - Maureen's takeaways   Links & Resources Verge Consulting Connect with Patti on LinkedIn Episode 120: How Legal Decisions Impact Our Schools with Karen Kalzer Unprotected: A Menoir by Billy Porter Every Kid Needs a Champion - TED Talk by Rita Pierson We Need to Talk About an Injustice - TED Talk by Bryan Stevenson Email Maureen Maureen's TEDx: Changing My Mind to Change Our Schools The Education Evolution Facebook: Follow Education Evolution Twitter: Follow Education Evolution LinkedIn: Follow Education Evolution EdActive Collective Maureen's book: Creating Micro-Schools for Colorful Mismatched Kids Micro-school feature on Good Morning America The Micro-School Coalition Facebook: The Micro-School Coalition LEADPrep

179: Lesbian Dressing Room Sex Date: A Story of Sexual Exhibitionism. The setup for this story is a polycule family, which is a polyamorous group of people who are in a relationship with each other and have sex with one another (usually in a long-term arrangement/situation). Once in a while, this family gifts each other a day of sex with others outside the polycule. In this story, the plan was that one of the women in the polycule family, Michelle, was to get a day of sex dates where she'd go from date to date all day long having enjoyable sexual relations that were designed with her tastes in mind. Michelle, a beautiful bisexual woman,  loved exhibitionism. This story was to be my chapter in an anthology. But that anthology has tragically been canceled. Why you ask? Here's why. And the story behind this is sad, but the story is fun, sexy, and celebratory of sexual openness and exploration and honors Michelle. This story was originally written for an anthology that was being created in loving memory of an erotica author who passed away from cancer. The proceeds for the book were to go to cancer research. Before her husband could get the book live, he was tragically killed. So the story was given back to me to do with as I pleased. I decided I wanted to still honor Michelle's memory and put my chapter out into the world. Michelle was an erotica author who went up and above over the top to support other erotica authors, to buy their books, and write reviews. Her erotica books are still on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/Michelle-Myer/e/B01MSDTQAU Check out her books! Her legacy of books is still there. I hope it stays in loving memory of her and all the support she offered up to the erotica writing community. What an amazing person she was!Hello!

They share how they first met and had this epic moment of soul recognition. During this episode they share pieces around how they were taught to believe that they had to earn their worth and that emotions were not safe, unless you were happy. A big piece for both of them was finding their inner truth and the quickest way that they found this was through self love. "Once I tasted that godness within, that love within me grew and finding that love allowed for me to start developing the trust back for myself. Instead of giving authority over me, I started coming back to my own truth."Have you heard of the kinsey scale? It is a truly interesting scale and the research behind it is quite interesting. You can read more about it here: https://kinseyinstitute.org/research/publications/kinsey-scale.phpKami & Shelby offer the thought that if there is any curiosity within you it may be your soul / heart asking you to experience something different.
