The The Esoteric Order of Roleplayers podcast is a fantastic actual play podcast that consistently delivers high-quality content. From their group games to duet campaigns, the hosts always bring their A-game and stay focused on the game better than most podcasts I've listened to. They are constantly trying out different games, introducing me to new and interesting systems that I have come to love.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the chemistry and friendship between all of the players involved. It's evident that they genuinely care about each other and enjoy playing together, which creates a wonderful dynamic in each episode. The storytelling is superb, with fully fleshed out characters and compelling character arcs. Whether it's the World of Darkness duet chronicles or the ongoing Vampire the Masquerade series, each story is full of emotion, suspense, and great voice acting.
However, like any podcast, there are some minor flaws. One aspect that could be improved upon is tighter editing. While it's not a major issue, cutting out dead space or light conversations that lack impact would enhance the overall listening experience. Additionally, while live sound effects can add atmosphere to the episodes, they might not be necessary for this particular group since their storytelling skills are already top-notch.
In conclusion, The Esoteric Order of Roleplayers podcast is my absolute favorite actual play podcast. With its variety of systems and play styles combined with strong relationships between players and engaging narratives, it offers a truly enjoyable experience for any tabletop RPG enthusiast. I highly recommend giving it a listen.
