Talkin' 'bout collecting! This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, we talk to the Rick Meints, president of Chaosium! He doesn't just run the company, he's its biggest fan, with a collection of Chaosium games, art, documents and ephemera that likely dwarfs all others. We talk about collecting, RuneQuest (Rick's primary RPG passion, as he penned the wonderful Meints Index to Glorantha), the company's history and its plans for the future for some of its key lines going into their 50th anniversary in 2025. In this episode of the Glorantha Initiation Series we chat with Amber and Christian, from DMs After Dark! We mention using Glorantha's unique character concepts to lure players into a new campaign, collecting too many books, different game styles and pacing, sharing narrative control, managing sensitive topics, skipping elements of the lore, old school vs new school dungeon crawling, and of course wolves!

This week on the Vintage RPG Podcast, Stu's crowing about one of his Christmas gifts, The Meints Guide to Glorantha, by Chaosium president Rick Meints. The books amounts to the definitive guide to all publications to include material on Glorantha in existence (well, all the ones Rick knows about, which is certainly most of them, if not all of them). Entries consist of product photos as well as notes on production and design. He even has entries for Glorantha books that don't exist. How's that for exhaustive? There should be a book like this for every RPG line. * * * Grab a copy from Chaosium! * * * Stu's book, Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground is for sale now! Buy it! Patreon? Discord? Live and in Heortling, welcome to the second initiation episode of our series running Andrew Montgomery's Six Seasons in Sartar campaign for Chaosium's RuneQuest roleplaying game. This time, it's the boys' turn to go through the rite of passage to manhood. Glorantha is a world of myths, gods, and legends come to life. A Bronze Age world of heroes and great villains, triumphs and failures on a cosmic scale. The initiation for the males of the Clan explores these myths, the history of their people, their gods, their stories come to life. Follow Descara, Kymrese, Ruen, and Venaran as they, along with other tribe initiates Daersten and Affal, as they come to terms with their place in the Clan, confront themselves as they were, and see the path before them to who they could be. With the initiations done, the Vale is open to the PCs, and this campaign is about to jump off into full swing. Please join us for more great RuneQuest live every other Friday! There are many, many worlds that I would love to explore and play in. But if we specify worlds that are well-done then that list is much shorter. I've thought about it a great deal and I am going to suggest three worlds - or settings - that I consider to be well done. To keep things sane, I'm going to begin by focusing on Fantasy worlds. If you want my thoughts about modern-era or science-fiction worlds, let me know and I'll do a follow-up episode. We begin with this: if I could sit down and run any pre-designed fantasy world and wanted to choose one that was well-done, there are three worlds I would choose: Harn, Glorantha, and Ptolus. Thanks to Brian, Jason, Wiebe, Barry, and Simon for the call-ins!Link to Ptolus:https://www.montecookgames.com/welcome-to-ptolus/Link to Glorantha:https://www.glorantha.com/Link to Harn:http://columbiagames.com/harn/index.htmlRoleplay Rescue Details:Voice Message:speakpipe.com/roleplayrescuePatreon:patreon.com/rpgrescue Email:hello@rpgrescue.comBlog:roleplayrescue.com MeWe Group:mewe.com/join/roleplayrescueor search "Roleplay Rescue"Twitter:@ubiquitousratRoleplay Rescue Theme by Jon Cohen from Tale of the Manticore:https://taleofthemanticore.podbean.com/ Hosted on Acast.
