Matthew Ehret takes the Fauci hearings and asks the question nobody in the room seems to want answered: what if the Wuhan lab leak story, however true, is still only half the picture? This episode digs into the sprawling network of over 300 opaque, largely unregulated Pentagon run biolabs scattered across the globe, from Ukraine to Georgia to South Korea, and traces how figures like former MI6 chief Sir Richard Dearlove keep showing up at the center of Britain's most consequential intelligence scandals. Expect leaked admissions from Victoria Nuland, Russian and Chinese accusations about biolabs near their borders, drones rigged for aerosol dispersal, and a hard look at the policy documents that openly discussed genetically targeted bioweapons decades before COVID. Ehret connects dots most coverage leaves scattered, building toward a bigger, uncomfortable question about who actually benefits from the chaos. Bring your skepticism either way.
Learn more about Astraeus Wealth Management: http://astraeuswealth.com/partner-with-us Guy Adami is joined by Peter Boockvar, CIO of OnePoint BFG Financial, to break down the growing cracks in the Bank of Japan's decades-long rate repression experiment and what a yen reversal could mean for global bond markets. They dig into the historic move in Treasury yields following Kevin Warsh's press conference, rising credit stress in the AI trade (including Meta's off-balance-sheet financing and CoreWeave's blown-out credit default swaps), and why single-stock volatility may be signaling something bigger. They close out with a deep dive on gold — why central banks keep buying even as the metal cools off. Then, Dan Nathan and Guy Adami sit down with Jin Hennig, Managing Director and Global Head of Metals at CME Group, live from CME's New York office. They cover gold's pullback from its 2026 highs, the case for why central bank demand isn't going anywhere, the launch of CME's new 24/7 gold futures product, and what the September Fed meeting could mean for prices. —FOLLOW USYouTube: @RiskReversalMediaInstagram: @riskreversalmediaTwitter: @RiskReversalLinkedIn: RiskReversal MediaThe financial opinions expressed in Risk Reversal content are for information purposes only. LinkedIn admits it has an 'AI slop' problem LinkedIn has become infamous for cringey content, but with the rise of AI, the posts are getting out of control. And LinkedIn knows it's a problem. It's so bad that LinkedIn now has a button to report a post for seeming like AI slop. Yes, that is the real label. They say people come to LinkedIn to connect with real people, who share their real perspectives, ideas, and expertise. That does not mean they want to see something they could ask AI themselves! In an amusing case of irony, LinkedIn has pulled down its own "Enhance your post with AI" feature. Prepare for your tech gadgets to get more expensive There is a global shortage of computer memory and storage with the boom of AI and data centre builds, and it's now so bad that Apple is warning its investors. In its call this week they said they're seeing continued demand for their latest generation of devices but also challenges securing memory, saying there is "less flexibility". Apple now has $11 billion dollars in inventory, almost double from September last year, suggesting they're stockpiling the components needed for their most popular devices. It's likely your tech gadgets will become more expensive as the cost of these critical components continue to be in hot demand. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Danielle DiMartino Booth breaks down a contentious FOMC meeting where new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh held rates steady over three dissents, arguing the "good family fight" reflects a real fault line between district bank presidents and governors rather than idle disagreement. She reads Warsh as deliberately dismantling forward guidance, pushing the Fed to stop acting as the market's referee, and leaning toward a trimmed-mean view of inflation while insisting the 2% target stays non-negotiable. Beneath the policy debate, she sees an economy propped up almost entirely by the top 10% and the AI investment boom, with mounting cracks underneath: widening CCC high-yield spreads, bankruptcies at 15-year highs, record apartment concessions on luxury units, softening wage growth, and falling freight demand across trucking and ocean shipping. Her core worry is that if the top of the K "stutters" — as the AI bubble deflates or the wealth effect fades — the pain trickles down onto an already-struggling bottom half, and she's positioning around gold as credit conditions tighten.Thank you to our sponsors: Kalshi - download the Kalshi app and use code JULIA to get $10 when you trade $10. http://kalshi.com/r/JULIA Monetary Metals - learn more at https://www.monetary-metals.com/julia/Links: Danielle's Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/dimartinobooth Substack: https://dimartinobooth.substack.com/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@DanielleDiMartinoBoothQIFed Up: https://www.amazon.com/Fed-Up-Insiders-Federal-Reserve/dp/0735211655Timestamps: 00:00 — Intro and welcome00:35 — Immediate take on the FOMC hold with three dissenters; Warsh's "robust discussion" and four questions02:42 — Is it a deeper split? Andrew and Tristan Tate, two major “manosphere” influencers, were recently arrested in Miami and now face charges of rape and sex trafficking in Britain. The White House now says Donald Trump will not intervene in their extradition, a turnaround for two top MAGA figures who are close to Trump's inner circle and helped him win young men in 2024. Worse, many MAGA figures are following Trump and deserting the Tates. Still, MAGA is cracking over this: Tucker Carlson and several other figures are expressing sharp skepticism of the charges, treating the Tates as martyrs and raging at the charges as “politically driven.” As Guardian columnist Moira Donegan and I conclude in this episode, their dissent is significant: It's clearly speaking to a sizable chunk of MAGA that actively lionizes the violent misogyny that the Tates represent. We discuss the deeper causes of MAGA's divisions over the Tates, why the MAGA vision of masculinity is imploding, how Democrats got spooked by 2024 into overreading Trump's successes with young men, and how they can speak to this constituency more effectively. The cracks are not limited to money. Democrats also face a growing divide over election policies, immigration, and voter confidence. Polling has consistently shown broad public support for measures such as voter identification requirements and stronger border enforcement. Yet Democratic leaders have often opposed Republican proposals on these issues, arguing they create unnecessary barriers. That creates a political problem: when voters believe an issue is common sense, explaining why it should not happen becomes a difficult assignment. It is the equivalent of a restaurant owner trying to convince customers that the broken refrigerator is actually part of the dining experience. “There is the burden of being homeless and the burden of being judged for it.” — Saumya Roy on poverty in America How does the world look at America in the MAGA age? This is our third conversation drawn from How We See It, a collection of essays about America from the excellent new publication The Dial. In the first, The Dial's Paris-based editor Madeleine Schwartz offered a very French version about the oddities of Trump's America. In the second, the Turkish novelist and commentator Kaya Genç gave us his view from Istanbul. Today, we have a take on America from the Indian-born Saumya Roy, Al Jazeera's San Francisco correspondent and the author of Castaway Mountain, a book about the wastepickers of her hometown Mumbai. Saumya Roy's inside-out America is the one glimpsed from the back of a San Francisco cab, whose Indian driver told her he'd walked here from Mumbai. In her Dial essay, Roy compares the poverty of her hometown, Mumbai — the subject of Castaway Mountain — with the homelessness outside that San Francisco cab. The comparison isn't quite what you'd expect. Mumbai's poverty is vaster and more dehumanizing — a hundred thousand street people against San Francisco's eight thousand. But in Mumbai Roy finds a social kind of poverty, whereas in San Francisco it's atomized and isolating. In the land of personal responsibility, she reports, there's a double burden of being on the street: being homeless, and being judged for it. Some of the street people Roy meets even shower at a gym each Christmas so their families won't know their predicament. And yet Roy still recognizes the American dream. She reports that it often burns brighter in a Mumbai slum — where a young gig worker told her he wants to be “the Elon Musk of India” — than it does in America itself. That dream can be real, she says, just as it can be cracked. From the back of her San Francisco cab, Saumya Roy sees both Americas. Five Takeaways • “I Walked from Mumbai to the US.” A cab driver's five-word answer contains the whole story. In the popular imagination, Indian America is the America of tech CEOs and startup founders; beneath it are millions — many undocumented — who chased the same dream, work small jobs, and were left behind by the wave. San Francisco, Roy observes, is a boom and bust town — dot-com, social media, now AI — and the American dream is a wave: catch it and you make an amazing life; miss it and you may end up sleeping in the subway car of the world's richest city. The dream, she says, can be fulfilled — and the dream can be cracked.• The Double Burden. Mumbai's poverty is vaster and more dehumanizing than anything in America — children dying of tuberculosis in their teens, perhaps 100,000 people on the street against San Francisco's eight thousand. But it is social: even at a distance you see cooking smells, cradles, families living together on the sidewalk. American homelessness struck Roy as profoundly isolated — everything owned in a shopping cart, riding the train aimlessly because no one is waiting anywhere. And the ideology of personal responsibility cuts both ways: if success is earned, failure must be deserved. Hence the double burden — being homeless, and being judged for it — and the people who shower at a gym each Christmas so their families won't learn where they live.• What Is Growth For? The AI boom is minting $250 million research salaries and trillion-dollar IPOs that will change the face of San Francisco for decades — while polls show seventy to eighty percent of Americans fear losing their jobs to AI investment, and a single medical expense can capsize a family. Young Americans watch the markers of their parents' lives — a home, affordable gas, a job within a year of graduation — drift out of reach. Roy's question is the one policymakers keep dodging: what is growth really for, if it doesn't translate into a better quality of life for the people who need it most?• The Mumbai Model. Roy's editor at The Dial asked why she wrote “homeless” for San Francisco but not for Mumbai — and the answer became the essay. In Roy's own lifetime, Mumbai has moved more than 100,000 people off its sidewalks and railway tracks: not by sweeps, evictions, and demonization, but by involving communities — especially women — and giving people confidence that the housing they moved to would be safe and secure. Meanwhile only ten to twelve percent of San Francisco's homeless report substance use or mental illness as the cause; eighty-eight percent are simply priced out, often working two or three jobs. As Roy puts it: they deserve a hug more than they deserve to be evicted.• The Dream Burns Brighter Abroad. Reporting on unemployment in a Mumbai slum, Roy climbed a steep staircase to interview a young gig worker and asked him his dream. “I want to be the Elon Musk of India,” he said. The American dream, Roy suggests, now burns brighter in Mumbai and the Gulf than in America itself — where the darkness is emotional rather than economic, a mourning for the idea of America rather than its numbers. Neither MAGA nor doom-monger, Roy watches a country that leads the world in innovation while paying developers not to build wind farms, and concludes that what people everywhere are grappling for — left, right, and abroad — is a system that reflects the crises they actually live. About the Guest Saumya Roy is Al Jazeera's San Francisco-based correspondent, covering technology and the environment. A former Mumbai journalist who co-founded the microfinance nonprofit Vandana Foundation, she is the author of Castaway Mountain: Love and Loss Among the Wastepickers of Mumbai (Astra House, 2021), one of NPR's best books of the year. Her essay on Mumbai, San Francisco, and the American dream appears in How We See It: The World Looks at America in the Age of Trump (The New Press, June 2026), edited by Madeleine Schwartz. I'll show you why the Truth Social-branded YALL ETF has dropped 4%—and reveal why it doesn't actually own a single share of Trump Media stock, which itself is down 35% year-to-date. Plus, I deconstruct the White House's sudden move to slap Canada with 50% targeted Section 338 tariffs on everything from beer to hockey sticks, and explain why market strategists warn we have already used up our only economic "get-out-of-jail card". The $27 Billion Prediction Arms Race: I map out the massive corporate clash heating up as retail giant Robinhood holds talks with Crypto.com to directly integrate its event-based contracts. I look at the staggering scale of this market, including Kalshi's mind-blowing $27 billion in trading volume for the World Cup, and explain why Crypto.com is aggressively hunting for retail distribution even though its highly publicized prediction-market integration with Truth Social has still not launched. The Demise of BitMEX: I take you through the final hours of the crypto pioneer that revolutionized global trading by introducing 100x leverage and perpetual swaps. I look back at how they peaked at $1 trillion in annual trading volume, their painful regulatory battles, and explain why even an unusual presidential pardon from Donald Trump last year couldn't save the platform from a brutal crypto winter and a sudden mass exodus of its executive leadership. The Golden Paradox: Since the outbreak of the Iran war on February 28, gold has unexpectedly plummeted 22%. I explain the macroeconomic forces behind this decline—including Turkey's massive $10.6 billion gold liquidation—and present my contrarian case for why buying the gold dip remains highly rational while stock investors remain remarkably complacent about growing macro risks Enjoy! What's up bros? We're almost there everyone (+ 3 reunion episodes of course). While some blind items have us excited at the potential cancellation of this stupid show, we actually do some pretty good mental gymnastics to realize there could be some semblance of a show in here somewhere if you get rid of the worst losers on the cast. We won't hold out any hope there of course but you get what we're saying. Jeremiah sucks too while we're at it. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Frequent Miler is reporting that Chase quietly added new terms to Chase Offers warning that abuse may get you excluded from future offers, which leads into a real conversation about where the line sits between an error in your favor and outright fraud. Bank of America is now handing out retention offers through its Erica chatbot, so you can click through your cards quickly without ever talking to a person, though accepting one offer appears to lock you out on the rest. What if your best employee is not burned out or ready to quit, but is slowly losing the energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm that once made them exceptional? In this episode, Dr. CK Bray explores the emerging concept of quiet cracking, the slow and often invisible erosion of engagement and human potential that can occur long before performance begins to decline. Drawing on neuroscience and organizational psychology, he explains why it happens, why leaders often miss it, and what they can do to create workplaces where people do not simply survive the demands of work, but truly thrive. If you care about building healthy, high performing teams while helping people become the best version of themselves, this is an episode you will not want to miss. QUOTES FROM DR. BRAY "We stop asking what's possible and start asking what is only necessary. Curiosity quietly gives way to caution. Creativity is replaced by efficiency." "Many people quietly assume this is simply what success feels like — that adulthood or leadership or ambition inevitably requires living in a state of constant depletion. I don't believe they do." "Work should challenge us, but it shouldn't slowly diminish us."

In this episode of The Canadian Macro Investor Podcast, Simon and Dan break down the latest Bank of Canada rate decision and monetary policy report. They discuss why the Bank of Canada held rates steady, how the bond market is increasingly driving borrowing costs, and why housing is becoming a more important risk in the central bank’s outlook. They also look at Canada’s increasingly divided housing market, with Ontario and B.C. under pressure while several other provinces continue to hit new highs. The discussion covers condo weakness in Toronto and Vancouver, the impact of unsold inventory, rental market dynamics, CMHC MLI Select, and how mortgage products and government policy are shaping real estate investment. From there, they shift to the U.S. rate outlook and why the Fed may have less room to raise rates than prediction markets or futures markets suggest. They discuss rising U.S. Treasury bill issuance, the potential role of stablecoins in creating demand for short-term government debt, and why higher inflation targets may become more politically and financially attractive over time. Finally, they dig into the AI investment boom, including new Chinese open-weight models, pressure on OpenAI and Anthropic’s business models, data centre constraints, Tourmaline’s proposed Alberta data centre opportunity, and what semiconductor drawdowns may be signaling for broader markets. Former attorney general Pam Bondi testified behind closed doors Friday about the Jeffrey Epstein scandal. She effectively let it be known that Todd Blanche, now acting AG, has been responsible for this debacle, creating a new inquiry for Democrats to pursue that will be fraught for Trump. Bondi also went mum on how Trump instructed her to handle the Epstein files, basically declining to back Trump's spin that he was pro-transparency, raising still more questions for Democrats to pursue. Meanwhile, Trump's sinking approval, Iran debacle, ballroom and slush fund are fracturing Trumpworld and the GOP: One Republican told The Atlantic that he has “lame-ducked himself.” We talked to historian Nicole Hemmer, author of several books about the right. June CPI data just delivered the biggest monthly drop since 2020, signaling that aggressive Federal Reserve interest rate hikes may be permanently off the table.
