Aunt Trish swings by and oops! it's an intervention. Haircuts from drifters, somewhat useful role plays, and the inevitability of being the villain in most of your own stories is the meat of this particular podcast sandwich. Amanda Blake Davis worked on multiple oceans and multiple deserts before ABD (as she's known) hit the ETC. She shares her stories from all of these wet/dry climates, as well as the temperate midwest (ha.). Jobs are a theme as the financial sacrifice of working for tourco comes up as well as how sometimes you have to move away from Chicago so that you can move back to Chicago. And though this episode was recorded a while ago, I think I remember us talking about the grinding world of theater league, co-ed, FLAG FOOTBALL! In this week's broadcast from an island of talking animals, writer and actor Amanda Blake Davis (Showtime's "Work In Progress", The Second City) goes from talking about the pandemic with her family over Zoom, to talking with an actual (harmless) bacteria named Jeff who lives on Alex's neck! Together with Wazey the Whale, they examine existence from their varying lifespans, and explore the concept of radical acceptance.Credits: Alex - Alex Denney, ABD - Amanda Blake Davis, Jeff the Dermabacter Hominis Bacteria, Wazey the Omura Whale - Juliana LaBarbiera, Cover Art - Mattie Schott, Production - Alex Denney-http://www.islandlifepod.com-✩ FOLLOW US ✩✭ INSTAGRAM: https://instagram.com/islandlifepod✭ TWITTER: http://twitter.com/islandlifepod✭ FACEBOOK: http://facebook.com/islandlifepod✭ YOUTUBE: http://youtube.com/channel/UCThMZfK-B8V6qhwrY6G04uQ-Alex Denney: http://www.alexdenney.comAmanda Blake Davis: https://twitter.com/theamandablakeRyan Williams: https://www.cszchicago.com/about/roster/ryan-williamsJuliana LaBarbiera: https://www.instagram.com/julianalabarbiera-Visit (L.A.) Host Zach Huddleston is joined by his good friend Amanda Blake Davis to eat tomatoes, discuss fruit's impacts on their lives, and get a little drunk. They eat garden-grown tomatoes from the Davis estate and compare them to some bagged and tagged store-bought 'maters. They talk environmentalism, school mascots, and what it's like to not have a sense of smell! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/fruitful/support
Before moving to Los Angeles in 2012, Amanda Blake Davis was a favorite of the Chicago improv scene. She starred in revues at The Second City Chicago, earning a JEFF Award for that work, and could regularly be seen at iO and The Annoyance Theater. Amanda joined Jimmy for a candid interview and a wonderful improvised scene.
