Saturday treat time, Outlouders. A brand new episode of Parenting Out Loud just landed, and we’re dropping it here for you to enjoy too. In this episode, Jessie Stephens and Amelia Lester dive into:
Orrin Porter Rockwell, bodyguard to Joseph Smith and feared legend of the American West. He is ‘Mormon' (LDS) folk hero; is a historical legend, and was said to be invincible—as long as he never cut his hair. But in 1855, he picked up a pair of scissors. Why? This episode reveals a stunning moment of tenderness from a man known more for bullets than kindness. A story of faith, myth, and one sacred gesture you won't forget.Chapters:00:00 – Introduction00:56 – A Man Called Rockwell02:40 – The Prophecy & the Hair04:03 – The Widow & the Wig05:38 – Fallout & Faith06:49 – Legend & Legacy07:58 – An OunceReferences:LDS Church History: Rockwell Prophecy & LoyaltyDetails Joseph Smith's prophecy and Rockwell's unwavering loyalty.Source: The Church Historian's blog.URL: https://history.churchofjesuschrist.org/blog/ask-us-top-five-reference-questions-about-orrin-porter-rockwell?lang=engFact vs. Folklore – Rockwell's Reputation & Haircut for AgnesExplores verified and legendary accounts, including the wig story and behavior after cutting his hair.Source: LDS Living article featuring input from Church History Library.URL: https://www.ldsliving.com/the-most-famous-porter-rockwell-stories-fact-or-fiction-church-history-library-explains/s/94474General Biography of Porter Rockwell (Wikipedia)Overview of his early life, Danite association, lawman role, and mythic status.URL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_RockwellRockwell's Hair Donation to Agnes Coolbrith SmithReferences common questions about the life of Rockwell. This week we're down in the Cure Cave to do some trim work on the Amnesia Lemon Hashplant harvest! This plant dried a bit quicker than the Tropaya BX #6, and on day 14, it is ready to go into the cure jars! This round we're using Ball 16oz wide mouth jars to do the curing, slightly different than the previous round! This harvest was interesting to achieve and I am excited to see how the resin cures up. As of right now it has a lemon, cedar, fresh trading card, and chemical fume nose! Thank you all for joining along for this plant's journey! The next genetics are coming this autumn once temps in the tomato room have dropped! Grab your floaties! This week, V and Emily travel back 25 years (gross) to the spring of 2000, when the internet was the Wild West and everyone was an asshole. Or maybe not everyone, but wow, this one e-mail list for The Sentinel sure was. We discuss the difference between tags, warnings, spoilers, and censorship, and we also discuss just how much has changed in the fandom landscape over the last 25 years in terms of expectations and norms. The gang's all here! Joel, Kim and Chris return to serve up all the drama from Round 2 of Roland-Garros 2025 — and what a rollercoaster it's been! It was heartbreak for the British women as all three bowed out, but there's still hope on the men's side with a surprise all-Brit clash now set between Fearnley and Norrie. Meanwhile, Jack Draper lit up the Parisian night in a sizzling showdown with crowd-favourite Gael Monfils — and did his best to dodge a 5th set thriller!Emotions ran high as French maestro Richard Gasquet bid adieu to the sport on Court Philippe-Chatrier, falling to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner. We look back at his fabulous career (and that oh-so-silky one-handed backhand!). Elsewhere, big names like Djokovic and Alcaraz powered on, while seeds Tsitsipas, Ruud, de Minaur, and Mensik suffered surprise exits. While British women are out — with Raducanu falling to queen of clay Iga Swiatek — the American charge is alive and swinging, with Gauff, Keys, and Kenin all cruising through (rackets in hand this time!). And don't miss our pick for Round 3: Ostapenko vs Rybakina — it's going to be fire!PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods. After divorce, we're often so focused on survival — holding everything together for our kids, managing co-parenting, and keeping up appearances — that we forget we're allowed to change. In this episode, I share a personal story about the worst haircut of my life — how it became a symbol of my lowest point, and why I avoided cutting my hair for 10 years. What started as a simple act of self-care became a wound I carried far longer than I realized. Until now. This is a conversation about shedding outdated identities, releasing the fear of becoming someone new, and learning to choose yourself again. Whether you're newly divorced or years into this journey, this episode will remind you: healing gives you permission to evolve. I am always here to help you get clarity on the next step in your life, whether that is making a big relationship change, shifting your parenting, or determining what support you need. She and James unpack the lasting damage of pandemic-era policies, from mental health crises to small business closures and weaponized bureaucracy. Now chairing the House Committee on Weaponization of Government, Rigas discusses her mission to investigate abuses of power and reclaim legislative authority from unelected agencies. She also reveals a stunning mishap where Democrats accidentally introduced her anti-DEI bill—and passed it. It's a bold, often shocking episode about courage, accountability, and fighting for freedom from the inside.Discover more at Enjoyer.com/PodcastFollow Rep. Subscriber-only episodeSend us a textTrent and Peaches are back on the Ones Ready podcast, and this members-only episode is a no-holds-barred roast of Hollywood's war movie obsession, questionable haircuts, and the veteran life nobody talks about. From dunking on Fury's overhyped tank drama to unpacking why Brad Pitt's smolder doesn't make him a thespian god, these two bring the heat with zero filter. They also dive into the real grit—veterans navigating a world that thinks they're either broken or Rambo, and why everything's suddenly a “mental health crisis.” Expect sarcasm, contrarian hot takes, and a side of Nickelback love (because why not?). This ain't your average podcast—it's a verbal frag grenade for the initiated. Key Takeaways: Fury's tank bromance is overrated, and Brad Pitt's haircut doesn't deserve its own fan club. Hollywood's veteran portrayals are lazy—either you're a ticking time bomb or a caped crusader, no in-between. The world's not as soft as you think, but good luck convincing civilians to ditch their bubble wrap mindset. Nickelback's meme status is peak internet stupidity—they're still selling out shows while haters cry into their IPAs. Veterans don't need fixing; they need people to stop assuming they're one bad day from digging a foxhole in their front yard.Call-to-Actions:Yo, if you're still here, smash that like button like it's a Hollywood cliche. Subscribe so you don't miss us tearing apart more sacred cows. Drop a comment—tell us your most overrated war movie or why you secretly love Nickelback.
