In September 2005, Ann lost her daughter, Lindsay Ann, when she was murdered by her ex-boyfriend. Lindsay Ann, who was 23 at the time, was similar to most victims of dating violence. Like my daughter, Kristin, she didn’t know the warning signs associated with dangerous relationships like the one she was in. Lindsay Ann's life was lost because she had not been informed. Since 2005, Lindsay Ann’s mother, Ann Burke, has dedicated her life to teaching all she has learned about dating violence. In July 2007, Ann, now a retired Health teacher living in Rhode Island worked with legislators to pass into law the Lindsay Ann Burke Act (2007). We talk about that and much more on this WHEN DATING HURTS Podcast.
