//The Wire//2300Z August 28, 2026// //ROUTINE// //BLUF: TARGETING CONTINUES IN UKRAINE. WAR IN MIDDLE EAST REMAINS AS BEFORE. ANOTHER COMMUNICATIONS INCIDENT REPORTED INVOLVING MARINE ONE IN WASHINGTON D.C.// -----BEGIN TEARLINE-----  -International Events-Europe: Following yesterday's assassination in St. Petersburg, long-range Russian and Ukrainian drone attacks continued. Several more warehouses and logistical hubs were hit within Ukraine, and this morning Ukrainian forces reportedly struck a Tu-95 Bear H parked on the apron at Engels Airbase in Saratov.United Kingdom: This morning a large fire was reported at an industrial warehouse in London, near Wembley Stadium. Local authorities state that this facility was a waste processing facility located next to an Amazon warehouse (which was evacuated due to the fire). The cause of the fire is not known at this time.-HomeFront-Washington D.C. - This morning an incident was reported aboard the Presidential MARINE ONE helicopter, while President Trump was onboard. The tower at Reagan National experienced communications issues with MARINE ONE, which involved radio transmissions being dropped between the helicopter and the tower.Analyst Comment: As the protection and transportation of the President is a zero-fail mission, what would ordinarily be a minor issue becomes a mission-critical failure. Ordinarily, today's incident would be a minor issue for any other aircraft, as it's not uncommon for minor comms issues to be present within the world of aviation and not being able to contact the tower for a few seconds is hardly groundbreaking news in most other circumstances. However, little mistakes become big ones in D.C, especially considering the wider implications. If the most important aircraft in the country has to relay comms to the tower via other aircraft, that is a national security concern. If this were an isolated incident it would be nothing more than something to mention at a turnover briefing for the day, but Washington Tower has a long history of major incidents: From fistfights in tower last year, to the deaths of 67x people during the AA5342 disaster, and even the incidents involving MARINE ONE just a few weeks ago, the management of the personnel and communications systems at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport have been persistent issues that present very real risks to the National Capitol Region.-----END TEARLINE-----Analyst Comments: In the Middle East, the situation remains much the same as before, with a brief lull in the targeting efforts being undertaken overnight by Iran. This lull came to an end this afternoon, after another vessel was targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, with unknown success. On the American side, there's lots of rumor and talk behind the scenes regarding the overall strategic plan, most of which is only a loose indicator of how the war is going. This morning Axios leaked details pertaining to several Foreign Ministers around the Middle East being told by SECSTATE Marco Rubio, that the US is probably not going to resume kinetic targeting until at least after the midterms. While the sourcing of this is dubious at best, this does make sense based on how things have gone over the past month. Months ago, the war lasting until next year (at minimum) sounded laughably unlikely, but at this stage, this timeline seems realistic. The one determining factor is the underlying energy crisis, and what happens when a global maritime choke point remains in the conflict zone for this long. Uncharted territory is ahead, and in terms of the tactical situation on the ground, no indicators are present that suggest the conflict will reach a point of conclusion anytime soon.Analyst: S2A1 Research: https://publish.obsidian.md/s2underground NomadNet: 5fa68c88be727a0e1a250a75e5e79269 Disclaimer: No LLMs were used in the writing of this report. //END REPORT//

Marketer of the Day with Robert Plank: Get Daily Insights from the Top Internet Marketers & Entrepreneurs Around the World

At some point, every leader reaches a place where their familiar “map” stops working where the career path, business plan, or life script they've relied on no longer fits what's actually happening. The strategies that once felt solid suddenly feel outdated, and they find themselves navigating illness, reinvention, and major life transitions without clear directions forward. Today's guest, Jeff Ton, a technology leader with 45 years of experience and author of Uncharted Moments: Love, Legacy, and the Lewis and Clark Trail, knows that terrain firsthand. What began as a series of RV trips retracing the Lewis and Clark expedition became a deeply personal story of partnership, caregiving, and leadership when his wife fell ill and he stepped into the role of full-time caregiver. In this episode of Marketer of the Day, Jeff shares how following the Lewis and Clark Trail, and later reflecting on it revealed powerful leadership lessons for entrepreneurs, executives, and creators facing uncertainty. He unpacks the metaphor of leading when the map is labeled “conjectural” like the original Lewis and Clark map west of the Mississippi, and what it means today when your business plan, financial projections, or life roadmap no longer fits the world you're actually in. Jeff explains why the most important question leaders can ask is: What do you do when the map runs out? Drawing on both history and his own journey, Jeff shows how proceeding on in uncertainty requires a blend of courage, humility, and responsiveness. From navigating tense, real-world travel mishaps to exploring Thomas Jefferson's broader vision for the expedition documenting new lands, learning from indigenous peoples, and building relationships Jeff highlights the often-overlooked leadership skill at the center of it all: listening. Listening to diverse perspectives, listening to the people you serve, and listening to your own gut are all essential when conditions change and your old playbook stops working. https://youtu.be/rlJ4pB9x78g?si=fSmNQ8jDa2JUJKi3 Jeff also introduces his “Proceeding On” event series, where he brings people together to talk honestly about life moments with no clear roadmap illness, grief, retirement, and reinvention. What started as a book and a “tour” has evolved into a shared space for reflection, healing, and clarity. For business leaders, marketers, and founders, Jeff's story is a reminder that real leadership isn't about controlling every variable, it's about continuing forward, one step at a time, while staying present, curious, and willing to adjust. If you're in a season where your old strategies don't fit and the future feels uncertain, this episode will give you both language and courage to keep proceeding on with more intention, empathy, and resilience. Quotes: “We are in uncharted territory. Others have gone through this disease; we're learning it. We learn every day.” “To proceed on when the way is not clear; take those steps, keep putting one foot in front of the other to make that progress.” "The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything. If you're trying to be perfect, you're not going to take a step. You have to proceed on into the unknown." A New York state judge is preparing to hear a trial between Black Diamond Capital Management and Bank of America, the result of which could provide a better understanding of how lender DQ lists are enforced. In this episode of Cloud 9fin, Jane Komsky unpacks the case and the potential impacts on the broader market with Polsinelli restructuring chair David Karp and 9fin reporter Tom Quinn. The discussion examines the three questions now facing the court: whether Bank of America should have settled a trade with an affiliate to a disqualified lender, whether it satisfied a requirement to provide an economic equivalent when the trade failed, and whether it acted as soon as practicable to find a solution.Karp argues that any ruling is likely to focus on Bank of America's post-trade conduct rather than overturn the core loan-market principle that a trade is a trade. The case also highlights the value of lender-of-record status, opaque DQ lists, voting rights and the risk to desks that leave trades unsettled. You can read our original story on the litigation here.Have any feedback for us? Caleb waited 45 years for a promise. When he finally got the chance to collect it, he didn't ask for the easy plot — he asked for the hardest territory in the land.In Week 7 of Uncharted, we put God's track record on trial. We look at Joshua 14 and 21 and ask: has the wait made you bitter, or has it made you better, bolder? Because the same God who kept every promise to Israel hasn't forgotten the one He made you either.

Maggie O'Farrell brought Shakespeare's son out of the footnotes of history with her 2020 novel Hamnet. Its hugely successful movie adaptation made a splash at the Oscars and Maggie herself earned a nomination for the screenplay. Maggie's new novel, Land, continues to pull from the shadows of history ... while also drawing on her own family myths. It's a sweeping epic that begins with a father-son mapmaking duo in 19th century Ireland. This week, Maggie joins Mattea Roach to talk about taking Hamnet from page to screen, writing about lesser known histories and her new novel's surprising Canadian connection. Liked this conversation? Five enemy kings join forces. Israel is exhausted, outnumbered, and already fighting a battle they never should have signed up for. And in the middle of it, Joshua prays one of the boldest prayers in all of Scripture — he asks God to stop the sun.In this message from our Uncharted series in the book of Joshua, we dig into Joshua 10 and ask a question every one of us needs to answer: what audacious, impossible-without-God prayer have you stopped praying? We'll look at why bold prayers can only be prayed with humility, why God invites us into partnership rather than doing everything for us, and why the prayers we fail to pray in the ordinary moments often create the crises that require the extraordinary ones.Whether you're walking through something that feels beyond fixing or you've just gotten comfortable praying safe, predictable prayers, this message will challenge you to bring your biggest asks to the God who is able to do "infinitely more than we might ask or think" (Ephesians 3:20).

We also unpack why Slate Auto is bypassing Canada for its highly customizable, budget-friendly electric pickup, alongside a detailed look at Subaru's impressive new 2027 EV lineup featuring the Trailseeker and Uncharted. Overseas, European automakers are pivoting from massive SUVs to highly affordable, compact city EVs to counter a massive push from Chinese brands, while the UK celebrates an explosive month with battery electric vehicles capturing nearly 30% of the new car market. On the quirky side of things, we look at the ultra-compact Fiat Topolino coming to America—a tiny, low-speed cruiser that blurs the line between a beach-bound golf cart and a neighborhood EV. Finally, we explore groundbreaking battery breakthroughs from researchers at Cambridge, Purdue, and Texas Instruments who are discovering that physical pressure and smarter charging algorithms can completely reshape how we prevent cell degradation and extend EV lifespan. Jericho fell without Israel ever lifting a weapon. So why does tiny, insignificant Ai suddenly defeat them? In week 5 of our Uncharted series through the book of Joshua, Cory unpacks one of the most sobering chapters in the whole book — the story of Achan, hidden sin, and a nation that has to learn the hard way that God will not bless compromise. One man's secret sin in a tent. Thirty-six lives lost. And a truth that cuts against everything our culture tells us: private sin has public consequences. This message walks through the pattern sin always follows — see, want, take, hide — and asks a question worth sitting with: is there anything hidden in your life right now that's quietly costing you God's best? But this isn't a message meant to shame you. It's a message about what happens the moment hidden things come into the light: confession isn't the end of the story, it's the doorway back into the blessing that was there all along.

Join in on Elder Craig Bodenschatz' sermon in week 3 of the Uncharted series. The walls of Jericho didn't fall because of Israel's strategy — they fell because God fought the battle. In this message from Joshua 6, Craig Bodenschatz unpacks what it looks like to trust and obey God even when His methods make no sense to us.Six days of silent marching. No battering rams. No siege machines. Just obedience. Craig walks through five ways we can depend on God to fight our battles for us — remembering His past faithfulness, resting in the truth that He's already secured the victory, recognizing it's His battle to fight, finding grace even in the walls we face, and trusting that His ways aren't our ways.Whether you're facing a financial wall, a broken relationship, a health struggle, or a battle no one else can see, this message is a reminder: the fight isn't yours. Be still. Trust. Obey. The victory has already been declared.

Not anymore. This week we sat down with TikTok Shop creator Ayanna Sabrina to talk about the wild west of live shopping and why it's one of the biggest money making opportunities for women right now, especially if you're over 30 and done playing small. No, you don't need to dance. No, you don't need to be an “influencer.” You just need to know how to talk to people and show upIf you've been waiting for a sign to start a side hustle that doesn't require a degree, a boss, or pretending to be 22... this is it. This isn't just about TikTok. It's about women claiming space in the next wave of e-commerce before it gets saturated.

I love James Bond movies. I grew up with them. I just talked about having gone through every Bond film a few weeks ago (there's 28, if you include The Rock, and you should!). When I watched the marketing for First Light, it looked like a Hitman game. A very well done, excellently made, Hitman game. And that meant I was out. I'm not hating on Hitman. Blood Money is a classic, and as far as I'm concerned the peak of the series because after that I never got into it again. World of Assassination is supposed to be incredible - if you love Hitman and haven't played it - get after it. This is by no means trying to talk you out of anything Hitman. But... Is James Bond right for a Hitman game? It didn't land for me. For whatever reason, James Bond means car chases, fast action, gun fights. In game form, that screams shooter to us. First or Third person, but shooter. Not stealth, not sandbox, not puzzles. None of those things are bad, and judging by the reviews IO interactive did a fantastic job. So, why is the game tracking low sales? Well, who is this game for? Hitman fans? James Bond fans? Uhhh... Uncharted fans??

It's mid-May, which can mean only one thing: We're at the point in the calendar when most companies release their financials for the previous fiscal year. Sony is one such organization, reporting a relatively flat year-on-year picture both generally, and with PlayStation in particular. With PS5 sales slowing down all the while the console is becoming more expensive, and with recent Housemarque exclusive Saros seemingly selling softly, does Sony have an uphill battle to keep PlayStation relevant? Or will the inevitable PlayStation 6 -- not to mention PS5's likely-strong swan song next year -- be enough to keep the ever-distracted masses engaged with the ecosystem? We discuss. Plus: Sony's second and third party lead gives a candid interview, 007: First Light goes gold, a new externally-manufactured DualSense controller has hit the market, PlayStation Plus Game Catalog receives a refresh, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Why did so many people believe Game Informer was teasing a Grand Theft Auto VI cover? Do we think the rumors indicating that FromSoft is working on a pirate-themed game are true? Is Dragon Quest XII finally going to be properly revealed in a couple of weeks? A duo of interesting stories quietly circulated around the PlayStation ecosystem over the last few days, with potential clarity shone on some lingering, years-long issues. For starters, beloved ex-Sony exec Shuhei Yoshida recently spoke at a gaming event in Australia, where he revealed more precious information on his departure from first party, noting that ex-CEO Jim Ryan ultimately fired him from his role for not acceding to his demands. Meanwhile, an ex-Naughty Dog lighting artist seemed to spill the beans on some of the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding Uncharted 4, which -- as you may recall -- was a tortured project. But no one knew things were as bad as they seemingly were, until now. Plus: Age verification is coming to PlayStation hardware near you in the UK and elsewhere, Assassin's Creed IV's remake has finally officially emerged, SEGA's classic Ecco the Dolphin franchise is being revived, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! With Kotaku making aggressive new hires while touting increasing traffic, can the once-storied media brand be saved? Do any of us mess with motion aiming on DualSense? Is there a feeling of melancholy when deleting an old online friend from your PSN list? In the world of PlayStation, this past week was one of mystery. For instance, the director of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy seems to be rather blatantly teasing a new Uncharted game on Instagram. But is he actually? Meanwhile, the promise of PlayStation on PC seems to have gone totally up in smoke, with the quiet removal of related iconography from the PSN. Could it be a sign of things to come? Plus, Sony's aggressive new position on the PlayStation Store continues to bear fruit, as even more games are deleted and unpublished that never belonged there to begin with. Are we finally getting the storefront we deserve? Other news this week includes intrigue surrounding an interview with Sony CEO Hiroki Totoki, changes incoming for PS5's UI, potential teases for remakes or remasters of Persona 1 and 2, the wet fart that was the Tales series' 30th anniversary, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Do you have to play the original Resident Evil trilogy on PSone to be a "real" fan, or do the remakes suffice? Why is Square Enix so hesitant to do anything with Chrono Trigger? With Capcom's Pragmata right around the corner, what are our last-minute thoughts? Is Dustin hiding his PlayStation Trophies because he's a fake gamer?
