The odds of Donald Trump actually showing up to testify under oath at the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021 attacks are not great, according to Andy Levy on this week's episode of political podcast The New Abnormal. “Less than zero,” says cohost Kali Holloway, a columnist at The Daily Beast and The Nation. “I think that the panel's probably aware that he's not gonna show up, but I think this is the kind of thing that they have to do just to sort of, for lack of a better phrase, show they mean business.” Matt Fuller, senior politics editor at The Daily Beast echoes concerns Trump won't show up.“He probably won't do anything with [the subpoena], and I can't imagine he's going to sit down for the January 6th committee,” he said. “It could be a court fight, but more likely than not, it'll just be a nothing burger.” Also on the podcast, Justin Baragona, media reporter at The Daily Beast, reveals how Fox News management and Tucker Carlson are very interested in finding out who leaked the deleted Kanye West interview footage to Vice. “They definitely want to know who it is and, and there will be repercussions, is what I would assume,” Baragona said. Congressional dentist Paul Gosar is tweeting anime beheading videos of his colleagues and the hosts of The Daily Beast's Fever Dreams have some questions. Namely, “who on Gosar's staff is the meme Lord?” As host Will Sommer notes, “Not a good sign for the state of the country, or the right, to be tweeting your anime assassination fantasies.” Elsewhere on the podcast, Sommer and host Kelly Weill discuss the FBI raid on Project Veritas, and the proliferation of TikTok Satanist conspiracies around the deadly Travis Scott concert. And The Daily Beast's Justin Baragona appears on the pod to talk about Tucker Carlson's new Jan. 6 documentary, in which he warns the leftover the prospect of more violence from what he sickeningly calls “legacy Americans.” See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College
In episode 99, host Will Kollmeyer helps the college celebrate being named an Apple Distinguished School by welcoming vice president of instruction Dr. Michelle Baragona, chemistry teacher Jason Miller and Leigh Ann Stewart, who is in the Office of Disability Accommodations, to the podcast to talk about the ways that technology, especially the iPad, has changed the culture at Northeast. During her interview, Baragona talks about the process that started back in the Fall of 2015 with the oNE Northeast approach that helped lead up to the Apple Distinguished School award and how faculty have bought into the idea of having technology in the classroom. Not only has technology changed the way faculty teach, but it has also changed the way students learn in the classroom. In addition to changing the culture, it has also helped save students nearly $6 million in textbook costs as the college embraced Open Educational Resources. Chemistry instructor Jason Miller presents the faculty side of the technology revolution at Northeast and talks about how it has changed the way students take notes in his classroom and how it has helped them succeed in difficult subjects such as Chemistry. Leigh Ann Stewart gives the iPad a new dimension when she discusses how the iPad has allowed those with disabilities to get their college degrees. Stewart talks about two students, who just finished in the last year and if it was not for the iPad, neither would have been able to finish their degrees as fast as they did. Between the segments, Kollmeyer gives a rundown of events that are happening in the next 10 days and also mentions a few events to be on the lookout for later in the month. Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College
In this sixty-ninth (69th) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes Northeast vice president of instruction Dr. Michelle Baragona back to the podcast after a short hiatus. Baragona brings good news to Tiger Nation as she announces that the college is one of the nation's top leaders in education when it comes to technology. In just a few short years, the college has gone from seeing under 30 percent of its classes using Open Educational Resources to over two-thirds of its classes using OER resources and Northeast now has nearly 95 percent of its classes using some form of digital resource or the other. Baragona goes over what the OER and iPad initiative means to the college and also explains that it was the OER initiative that made it possible for Northeast to have its iPad 1:1 initiative. Through the use of OER materials and digital resources in the classroom, Northeast has been able to save students nearly $5 million over the last few years. In the second half of the podcast, Northeast co-director of the Northeast child care center Bonita Crump stops by to talk about the center's open house on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon on the first floor of Waller Hall and also about her forty years at Northeast. Crump points out to the single or working parent how important the childcare center is for a student returning to get their education and also lists the requirements for children to be in the child care at Northeast. In her 40-year reflection, Crump mentions the changes that she has seen at the college and how technology has advanced from her first few years at Northeast from the college having one printer/copier on campus in Stringer/Cartwright Hall to the technological advancement that we have today. Crump also recalls the bus transportation system that the college had in its first few decades on campus. Between the two interviews, Kollmeyer has one of the most comprehensive lists of events and happenings on the Northeast campus for the upcoming week, so if you have an event or happening on campus and want to be part of the Tiger Talk podcast, reach out to us. Tiger Talk Podcast by Northeast Mississippi Community College
In this sixty-third (63rd) edition of the TigerTalk podcast presented by Northeast Mississippi Community College, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes NEMCC's Vice President of Instruction Michelle Baragona to the podcast to talk about a first for the Booneville-based called -- a Z-degree. With the addition of its iPad initiative and its Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative, Northeast has become one of the first community colleges in the country and the FIRST community college or university in the state of Mississippi to offer a Z-degree to students. Baragona explains what a Z-degree is -- a degree with ZERO textbook costs to the students -- and how the iPad initiative and the OER initiative have been instrumental in changing the pedagogy and teaching culture at Northeast. Baragona also talks about how much money the college has saved the students when it comes to textbooks -- especially since the average cost of a textbook was over $120 before the iPad and OER initiatives and now it is just $32. In the second half of the podcast, Northeast division head of languages and humanities Justin Treloar stops in to give the faculty perspective on the iPad initiative, how OER has changed the way instructors use their class time and how the students have reacted to using the iPads and OER materials in the classroom. Treloar also talks about being one of the first instructors on campus to push for OER in the classroom and finding the funding to help with the switch from traditional textbooks to multi-touch books, PDFs and live links in the Canvas Learning Management software. If you haven't subscribed to the podcast, now would be a good time to subscribe to stay up-to-date on all the happenings on the Northeast campuses and hear in-depth interviews with guests each week.
