Puck reporter Tina Nguyen joins this week's Fever Dreams to discuss Rep. George Santos and the civil war brewing between his staffers and the far-right figures he's begun to consult. Weill and Sommer discuss the recently disclosed rulebook for Proud Boys members, which includes a number of incredibly silly measures that members must follow. Then, speculation rages in Trumpworld over whether MAGA broadcaster Silk—of ‘Diamond and Silk' fame—meant to shade the former president during a memorial speech for her sister and co-host, bashing him for supporting COVID vaccination efforts that conspiracy theorists say – without evidence – may have been responsible for her death. The New Abnormal co-host Danielle Moodie laughed and then cried when she heard about Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy putting Rep. George Santos on the Science Committee. But Andy has a theory for why that happened in the first place. Somehow Mean Girls is mentioned. Also on this episode: Daily Beast politics reporter and Fever Dreams podcast host Will Sommer joins to talk about the latest weird yet highly entertaining infighting going on between conservatives and this time it involves right wing child actor Steven Crowder's war on The Daily Wire—and the latest on what Silk is saying about Diamond's cause of death. Plus! Entertainment Critic Nick Schager also joins the show to talk about the new documentary “Justice” which debuted last-minute at the Sundance Film Festival and is about the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. According to Schager, there is one big bombshell to come out of the film involving a witness to one of Kavanaugh's alleged assaults on a female peer. Hosted on Acast. The first thing Andrew Tate did after his arrest on Romanian human trafficking charges was to complain about “the Matrix”—a shadowy power structure hell-bent on taking him down for, well, some unspoken reason. He is, of course, not the first one to use this term—it's an emerging meme in right-wing spaces online, says Fever Dreams host Will Sommer on this week's episode. Even Logan Paul, the YouTube provocateur and wannabe boxing star, has thrown out the theory to push back on critics after a particularly bad week of PR which began with the discovery of an abandoned pig he apparently once owned. Also on the episode, Sommer and co-host Kelly Weill investigate the origins of a new front in the culture war: gas stoves. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It starts out doom and gloomy as we discuss injuries of football players and other public figures. We suggest football should become gentler and involve far fewer items of clothing...you know, for safety. Susie's mom is having health challenges, but that doesn't mean she won't make fun of her, so that's fun. But these conversations were a perfect appeteaser to our larger discussion on aging, happiness, and health. Since it's January and that's what's on everybody's mind, we discuss how to give yourself the best chance of happiness in old age. We find out the seven traits that are the best predictors of a long, healthy, happy life and they are...exactly what every other article has said for the last seven years. We learn how a "death positive" woman who encouraged people to face death with joy reacted to her own mortality. We hear how she threw herself a funeral while she was still living, and brought in documentary crews to document her journey to the other side. But we ended up thinking she wasn't death positive, but just self-absorbed and attention-seeking. It took a real crazy turn! Speaking of crazy, we debate whether you should be "allowed" to use that word of if it's equivalent to the stigmatizing language we've moved away from for people with intellectual disabilities. Ineitha Lynette Hardaway—better known as “Diamond” from the pro-Trump broadcasting duo “Diamond and Silk”—passed away this week, leaving the future of the pair's popular act in limbo. In this week's episode of Fever Dreams, hosts Will Sommer and Kelly Weill speculate on what comes next for “Silk”—who was never really the group's frontman, so to speak. Then, the pair tackle Brazil's own Capitol riot, which came nearly two years to the day after Jan. 6. In terms of pure aesthetics, the two scenes were incredibly reminiscent of each other: “They had the flags, they had the marching groups, they had the people walking through government chambers, trashing things,” Weill said. But even as this was all going on, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been camped out in Florida at the home of an MMA star, signing autographs and meeting with American fans of his Trumpian governing style. The state has become a new nexus for the world's various right-wing movements in recent years, according to Fever Dreams guest and The Daily Dot political reporter Claire Goforth—and it appears Bolsonaro is angling to stay there and trade in on his popularity with the MAGA base rather than face the music back at home. It may be the start of a new year, but the Republican Party is back to its old antics again—throwing the House of Representatives into chaos as a rogue group of far-right Congresspeople refuses to step into line and back Kevin McCarthy's bid for the speaker's gavel. Reporter: Welcome back to channel 12 news! We are coming at you live from outside the headquarters of the revolutionary, interstellar tech giant known has SpaceX! I'm your host Anthony Valadez! Standing before me I have the innovative, futurist Elon Musk! Elon and his team of elite scientists have managed to save a missing legendary space pilot commander from a seemingly endless, eternal black hole of terror and torture, the legendary hero has managed to save earth twice from many deadly catastrophes such has stopping a terrifying global solar eclipse and racing against time to activate a powerful big bang that would successfully reset time has we were itching further and further to a deathly doomsday! We scheduled an interview today with Elon to understand just how this dangerous rescue mission became such a daring success?   Elon Musk: Thank you Anthony!  Well after our heroic space pilot once again completed another life-threatening space endeavor, his spaceship was issued coordinates to safely return back to Earth with no delay, but his ship never returned. During that time Starlink was receiving multiple strange transmissions through out the day from an unknown source and location that all sounded almost inaudible, We spent months trying to decipher these transmissions with no luck. Until one late afternoon, SpaceX had decided to fly in a very skilled transmission analysist from another country. He spent long days and even longer nights attempting to decipher the coded transmissions. Then one morning after a daunting night of hard work he finally cracked the code to these strange transmissions to reveal a set of coordinates and a familiar voice, the transmissions were from our beloved space pilot! After we pieced everything together we sent a skilled rescue team to the coordinates as soon has possible! Has soon has we arrived to the transmission location an ominous black hole with sinister aura appeared out of thin air! Luckily our team was able to diverge the devilish black hole's attack just in time, but has soon has that happened, our heroic space pilot's ship literally burst out right before our eyes through the black hole in one of highly advanced ships which seemed to be in a severely damaged condition. Has soon has we had a chance we rushed and boarded his spaceship to guide him safely back to Earth!  Reporter: Wow! That's remarkable! Well I'm sure I speak for everyone in the community when I say we are glad to have everyone back home safe and unharmed! Congratulations to another successful space voyage and rescue mission! How is our hero holding up currently?   Elon Musk: Thank you Anthony! Well currently it seems he has suffered a bit of trauma, upon rescuing his spaceship, he responded to the crew with disturbing screams and mostly negative thoughts and harmful physical actions, luckily we have been working on brand new groundbreaking technology known has neuralink! Which involves implanting a chip inside a patients brain, it can be used for various procedures such has creating nice and relaxing thoughts similar to a fever dream state in its hosts mind in an attempt to revert its patient to their former self. We have input a chip inside are hero's brain in hopes to heal his trauma while we monitor his progress, but has soon has he makes a full recovery we will be waiting for our hero's return with open arms!  NEURALINK MENTAL TRAUMA REPAIR PROCEDURE DAY 1:  If you enjoy my content and would like to show some extra support for the Podcast and what we do, perhaps consider subscribing to our official YouTube channel 30 Minute Vibes or 'buying us a coffee' here at: https://ko-fi.com/30minutevibes has every contribution or subscription helps and is greatly appreciated! Line Up - Amina Annabi, chant - Valentine Duteil, violoncelle - Léonard Lasry, pianiste, chant.     Puis nous recevons le Québécois Patrick Watson pour son nouvel album Better in the Shade (Secret City Rd). Patrick Watson sort son septième album studio complet, Better in the Shade, via Secret City Records. Titres interprétés à RFI - Better in the shade voir le clip  - Stay, extrait de l'album Better in the Shade - Little Moments.    Line Up Patrick Watson, piano, voix. There's a very good chance that at least two secretary of state positions in the battleground states of Nevada and Arizona will be won by people who are part of a coalition put together by a QAnon promoter who some people believe is also JFK Jr. In this week's episode of political podcast Fever Dreams, hosts Will Sommer and Kelly Weill take a deeper look at that “shadowy character,” Juan O. Savin, and how he, along with his supporters, could destroy American democracy. Also on the podcast, Alex Kaplan, a senior researcher at Media Matters for America who is an expert on all things Savin, says that while it's hard to say exactly what would happen if these candidates take office, “the concern is that if these people got elected they could try to cast doubt on the election result or frankly just try to flat out overturn it and refuse to certify it. What this could do is essentially connect QAnon to a constitutional crisis, and that's what could play out here if that/s what happens.” Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Christian Walker, a conservative with a substantial social media following—particularly on TikTok—has taken aim at his father, whom he accused of violence and said abandoned his children from multiple women. “Herschel's problem is that his son has such a way with words,” Will Sommer tells co-host Kelly Weill in this episode of The Daily Beast's Fever Dreams podcast, referring to Christian's impassioned online reaction to his father's denials of the abortion allegations. Also on the podcast, Travis Waldron, senior national reporter at the Huffington Post, talks Brazil and its politics, which have been popping off thanks to the Brazilian general election. “The stakes of this one feel pretty high given the concerns about democracy and [President Jair] Bolsonaro's efforts to follow Donald Trump down the path of election skepticism and potentially an all out challenge to the result of the elections,” Waldron says. Months ago, I received this reader question: “It feels like I've done everything right, and yet I can barely make ends meet. Has life always been this…hard?”  This stuck with me for a long time. They weren't the first to ask this, or the second or third. And ultimately, this question became the focus of this special two-part series. Because when I first started writing about personal finance in 2018, I believed the rules of the game were fixed, simple, and universally applicable. I had the tonic that was going to make my generation rich, because I figured the things that worked for me would work for everyone. The perilous two years that followed—aka the pandemic—opened my eyes to just how complex life is in the 21st century, particularly for those coming of age in it—and this mini-series is my attempt at making sense of the world around us politically, economically, and culturally. (And yes, the financial implications at the collective and individual levels.) I'm also joined by Malcolm Harris, author of Kids These Days (https://www.littlebrown.com/titles/will-collyer/kids-these-days/9781478992332/), which I quote throughout the episode. — Mentioned in the Episode Anne Helen Petersen's Budget Culture and the Dave Ramseyfication of Money: https://annehelen.substack.com/p/budget-culture-and-the-dave-ramseyfication?s=r Dēmos research in 2008: https://www.demos.org/research/economic-state-young-america Jacqui Shine of the Los Angeles Book Review: https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/wont-get-fooled-again-malcolm-harriss-kids-these-days-human-capital-and-the-making-of-millennials/ Richard Fry of the Pew Research Center: https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2014/05/14/section-1-student-debt-and-overall-economic-well-being/ — Follow Along - Listen to Money with Katie here: https://www.podpage.com/money-with-katie-show/ - Read Money with Katie: https://moneywithkatie.com/ Follow Money with Katie! - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/moneywithkatie/ - Twitter: https://twitter.com/moneywithkatie - TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@moneywithkatie   Subscribe to Morning Brew - Sign up for free today: https://bit.ly/morningbrewyt Follow The Brew! - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/morningbrew/ - Twitter: https://twitter.com/MorningBrew - TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@morningbrew

Kirtzman covered Giuliani's political career for over 30 years and is also the author of Giuliani: The Rise and Tragic Fall of America's Mayor. He came on this episode of The New Abnormal to give us an insight into New York's fallen angel and his pal Trump—from anecdotes that one of his ex-wives told him to why Trump felt he was too much of a “liability” to be his Secretary of State. Plus! Fever Dreams podcast host Will Sommer, who is the expert on all things far-right, joins this podcast episode to talk about the up-and-coming ultra-conservative, QAnon-type candidates a la Marjorie Taylor Green and Lauren Boebert running in the midterms. And also, what the Proud Boys think of their founder Gavin McInnes and his fake arrest prank. Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Visit acast.com/privacy for more information.
