The decision by the Federal Aviation Administration to reduce air traffic by 10% across 40 high volume markets beginning this morning, isn't just a reaction to the now longest partial government shutdown ever. FAA is seeing the strain on air traffic controllers who are starting to call out sick more often. A new Federal News Network pulse poll finds FAA employees aren't the only ones working without pay that may be calling out sick or taking part in a sick out if this shutdown continues deep into November. Federal News Network's executive editor Jason Miller joins me now to discuss what we found in our latest survey. Jason Miller and Becky Ykema - As SBCC's staff leadership grows, we're excited to welcome Becky Ykema to our team full-time, focusing on the areas of worship and formation. Becky sat down with our lead pastor, Jason Miller, to share some of her story, and for the two of them to think out loud together about the ways SBCC worships and is formed.

In this first of a multi-part exploration of William Friedkin's ground-breaking and massively successful adaptation of William Peter Blatty's best-selling novel 'The Exorcist': Friedkin & DP Owen Roizman coming off 'The French Connection' and into 'The Exorcist' Casting travails involving Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman, Jane Fonda, Anne Bancroft, and Audrey Hepburn. Jason Miller and Ellen Burstyn willing themselves into their roles. Studio pushback on the film's prequel, set in Iraq, and Friedkin's demand that they film there despite political upheaval and a lack of an Iraqi film industry. The search for a girl to pay Regan; over 1,000 seen, hundreds screen-tested, before Linda Blair walked into the film production's offices. Special Effects approaches courtesy of Dick Smith and Rick Baker. Soundtrack troubles with Bernard Hermann and Lalo Schiffrin and the saving grace of Mike Oldfield's 'Tubular Bells'. This episode features Friedkin, Blatty, Roizman, and Ellen Bursytn in their own words. Other Friedkin Full Cast & Crew Episodes: The French Connection To Live And Die In LA

THE SWIMMER (1968) We dive deep in to The Swimmer and discuss and analyze, maybe just a little bit the glorious film directed by Frank Perry, based on a screenplay by Eleanor Perry, from the 12 page short story by John Cheever. "Well-off ad man Ned Merrill (Burt Lancaster) is visiting a friend when he notices the abundance of backyard pools that populate their upscale suburb. Ned suddenly decides that he'd like to travel the eight miles back to his own home by simply swimming across every pool in town."If you're reading this I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. Jason Miller and Karen Grant - Many of us grew up in one faith tradition or another, and some of us with no church background at all. We have ideas of what we don't want our kids to hear or experience as it relates to God, church, or the Bible. Yet, we want our kids to know God and develop a faith in God. We just need some help. Karen Grant, our Director of Kids and Families, is here to help! Karen has served in a variety of children's ministry settings over the past 18 years and has a B.A. in Bible & Ministry from Bethel University. She is also a freelance artist and has called SBCC home since 2019. In this episode, you'll hear some of Karen's story, and you'll learn more about the vision she leads for kids and families at South Bend City Church. It's an approach that centers the character of God, ensures kids feel seen, safe, and loved, and that sends them home with curiosity and a growing faith. Karen is also offering a fall workshop for parents, beginning Thursday, September 18. This workshop will include a variety of contemporary voices, a little bit of paint, and group conversations, to explore how to talk about God, and to God, with kids. We'll explore ways to celebrate Christmas and Easter that are meaningful for the whole family. We'll learn ways of reading the Bible that are appropriate for kids of all ages. We'll also talk about SBCC's approach to communion and baptism. You'll go home with some simple tools and reminders -created with your own family in mind- that can encourage a child's faith journey.

On today's episode of Govcon Giants, I sit down with Jason Miller, Executive Editor of Federal News Network, to unpack the chaos shaking the government contracting community. Over the last 4–6 months, we've seen partnerships shrink, contracts cut, and entire workforces pushed into early retirement. Jason pulls back the curtain on GSA consolidation, NASA SEWP, consulting contract crackdowns, and the uncertainty surrounding CMMC, NIST 800-171, and small business programs like 8(a). This isn't just noise—it's a direct hit on how small businesses survive and thrive in the federal marketplace. Jason and I go deep on the big numbers—25,000 fewer staff at GSA, programs like CIO-SP3 still stuck in protest, and the seven-year delay of CMMC rollout that's left contractors dangerously exposed. We also discuss how the Trump administration's aggressive cost-cutting, paired with industry silence, could cripple government contractors who refuse to speak up. If you're counting on the old rules to keep you safe, think again—this episode is your wake-up call.
