Jason Miller and Mariah Keener - In this third week of series on gratitude, we bring the two weeks of teaching into practice. In this gathering, instead of hearing a teaching, we spent some time in three movements — Notice/Capture, Reflect, and Express — in an effort to practice gratitude individually and collectively. If you're a long distance community member, or a local one who wasn't able to join us, we hope that you jump in to these practices with us. Our time will culminate with the practice of Eucharist so make sure to have some form of bread or cracker and wine or juice with you. There are some books on magick that teach it purely as spiritual advancement. There are others that teach it as a form of psychological self-help that effects only inner change. While magick can and should be both of these, it is something more. The Sorcerer's Secrets is about success in practical magick; it is a book that aims at change in both the outer and inner worlds. Beyond a mere spell book or training course, The Sorcerer's Secrets is a field manual on successful sorcery written by a professional sorcerer. The first part of the book lays out the qualities, concepts, and exercises necessary to attempt practical magick. The second part presents clear strategies for tackling almost any type of issue with sorcery. The Sorcerer's Secrets will help rescue the art of magick from those who have ignored, downplayed, or just outright denied the existence of practical sorcery in favor of arcane titles, intangible results, and fantasy attainments.

Friend of the podcast Eric Roach rejoins Jagbags to talk the films of the late William Friedkin, who recently passed away at the age of 87. We go through his movies, including "The French Connection", "The Exorcist", "To Live & Die in LA", "Cruising", and especially the unsung MASTERWORK "Sorcerer", starring Roy Scheider. Why did "Sorcerer" come and go without so much as a whimper at the box office? What made Friedkin's best work so compelling? Did the ends justify the means with Friedkin? What is his lasting legacy? We answer these questions, and many more. TUNE IN FOR FRIEDKIN!

The four have a round table BS session revolving around their New Jersey hunting trip that took place Oct 9-14. The area was new to everyone so we first discussed the scouting trips from late summer into fall. The terrain and habitat type was much different than other areas the group has bear hunted in the past, so it was a unique learning experience. From here we dove into the events of the week of hunting, totalling over 30 bear sightings, two bears and one buck killed. A lot was learned on this trip - and we can't wait for next year! This year's Scary Movie Month has turned into a month of undisputed horror classics, especially in these one-Ryan shows. Halloween was discussed on October 9th. Now it's time for one of the best-made, freakiest frightfests ever. William Friedkin's mega-blockbuster won 2 Oscars---it should have won more---and it remains beloved in the eyes of many, even if repeated viewings dampen the skin-crawling moments a little. Not that The Exorcist couldn't terrify the uninitiated, even if the greatly-diminishing returns of the 5 sequels have done nothing to continue its legacy. Those mostly-unworthy follow-ups are highlighted here too, but the main event is the 1973 original with Ellen Burstyn, Linda Blair, Max Von Sydow and Jason Miller anchoring the maniacal story about demonic possession and religious faith. For all the remarkable technical achievements on display here, the humanity of the characters is a huge reason this film still works. The emotion between Burstyn and Blair, in particular, hits home. So turn down the lights, turn up the sound and set aside an hour for an Exorcist monologue in this 543rd head-spin of Have You Ever Seen.
