“As long as I have my mind and memories and a chocolate, I can go wherever I want.” - Chocolate educator Sanna ForslundOur senses are made of magic (driven by really cool science) and engaging our senses by tasting chocolate can transport us to other places and times, summon memories, evoke emotions, and provoke imagination. Today's guest is a chocolate educator who uses chocolate as a way to travel the world, recalling places she's been and imagining ones she hasn't, and helping others to do the same. All that's required is an open and curious mind and a piece of chocolate. Join us for a conversation with Sanna Forslund about traveling through our senses, tasting chocolate with a sense of wonder, and how the natural world and the people around us can help us grow in our ability to do both. As mentioned in the episode, I'll be leading a virtual tasting of Belgian Quadrupel Ales on Saturday, October 16. This 90 minute event will include a tasting of 6 different excellent Belgian Quads. I'll talk about how to taste beer like an expert, discuss the history behind this style and each brewery, and walk attendees through a guided tasting of each beer. The music for this episode was sampled from an instrumental version of the song “Free” written and performed by indie folk musician Anna ps from her 2016 album Umbrella. You can find out more about Anna at her website.Sanna Forslund is a chocolate educator aiming to inspire people to appreciate the chocolate they eat with all of their senses. In ep 87, the boys finish their trio of time travel flicks by discussing Time Bandits (1981). This CineFANtics pick caused another split vote on the show. Tune in to hear Tony sign some praises and Eddie rant a bit about plot, character development - you know, the nerdy stuff. Whether you like or hate this film, there's no shortage of things to talk about. From an impressive cast list, insanely detailed set design, and an extremely ambitious roller coaster ride throughout history - in some ways, this movie's got it all. The boys also sampled beers from Sixpoint Brewery and Victory Brewing. If you love sours or Belgian Quads you may want to check these brews out. If you're looking to get your "time hole" tickled. This is the episode for you. Thank you once again for the big voting presence/response everyone. Interacting with listeners is the best part of this podcast. (well the beer is good too). We couldn't do it without you.
When Rob from North Mountain Brewing Company toured Europe as a young man it showed how that beer can be really good. That trip and his desire to do something different has inspired him to create certain styles that not many breweries try to tackle such as Belgian Strong Ales, Belgian Quads, and Saisons. And he nails them. And their food is awesome so so that never hurts. The food is deliberately made with the beer in mind. If you're going to have a movie that satirizes fascism and tries to convince people that Denise Richards is an actual human being with a non-wooden face, i.e. Starship Troopers, then maybe you should actually satirize fascism and try to have Denise Richards act like she doesn't have a wooden face. Other such topics of discussion in this episode include cellaring Belgian Quads, the Micro-Machines of childhoods past, Space-Nazis and their trenchcoats, the majesty that is Clancy Brown and Space Bug Design: Good and Bad.

With Joe Moran and Matt Kennedy from Outta Hand Brews Joe and Matt have been homebrewing together since 1994 and produced many award winning beers. We’ve been planning to have them on the podcast since the early days of Beer Busters and finally paid a visit to the Outta Hand barn in October...and then had to delay releasing the episode until now (sorry guys). But, good things come to those who wait. Surrounded by the pair’s enviable brewing setup, Dan ran down some (now a bit outdated but still interesting) news, we played Call My Beer Bluff: Headline Edition in Happy Fun Time, learned about Belgian Quads in Know Your Beers and sampled some sublime Outta Hand concoctions.
