This Week on the Hudson Valley Disc Golf Podcast: Alex, Corey, Jaimen, Randy, Tim, Joe and Evan were here and Jasan made a surprise appearance to help us go over the week that was in local disc golf. Unfortunately, we didn't get to many of the local events because of episode length and time constraints but we did get to a few of the leagues that the guys played in. We spent most of our time talking about Pyramid Quads with Jaimen, Randy and Corey, Corey also played in the Discmania Presents Sunshine Open at 501 and Mile Marker 63 - Powered By Abreu Karol and GMT. Tim pulled a Jay Gorsage and set up a Draft App so we could make picks for Minekill this weekend. Randy wanted to call the app #thirsttrapsofhvdgp but, as the guy who would probably say it the most, I vetoed that idea. We also got a sneak peak at the brackets for the Summer Battle Royale, if you're playing, it may be old news by now but it was still fun to go over the brackets. We finished it off with a round of Disc or No Disc and reminders to register for Minekill AM's, the HelderBERG Championships 2 and OKDGC Circuit Challenge. It's Tuesday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' post-season pressers, the Dynamic Duo's scathing comments, free agency, injury updates, and more.We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about how concerned everyone was about the post-season press conferences, given that the Dynamic Duo didn't exactly pull punches with their answers. From the team not being good enough to even taking steps backward, the messaging from the Oilers' best players was as blunt as you could get. Needless to say, when Draisaitl and McDavid speak as honestly as they do, Edmonton's management desperately needs to take notice. Shifting gears, the boys called David Quadrelli from Canucksarmy to see if they could pitch him a trade proposal live on the podcast, with the Oilers sending Tristan Jarry or Darnell Nurse to Vancouver to clear cap space. As you'll hear, some of the boys' ideas were well received by Quads, while others were shot down almost immediately. They also discussed the Oilers' coaching situation after news came out of Tampa Bay that Jon Cooper isn't going anywhere, ruining the dreams the guys started on Friday's episode. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of the podcast with another round of betting talk for our friends at bet365, and a round of Tenable about the World Championships to add a little levity after a very annoying week. With the playoff run wrapped up and cut short, the boys spent the bulk of the podcast moving through a range of topics, most related to the playoffs, some not, but that's the way things go during the off-season on ONR.

This week is an embarrassment of riches! The ‘Lympics (Amy's pronunciation) and “The Big Game” overlap this week, and the ladies are here for it. They are all over the athletes' fashion and swag, including Haiti's opening ceremony outfits, the USA ladies' eagle “blanket skirt”. Snoop is in the mix with his signature coverage of the games. Maya is obsessed with speed skater Erin Jackson. J.D. Vance gets booed. The Tongan greased-up guy is back, but unfortunately, he's dry and wearing a shirt. We're cheering for Korey and Cory, the curlers from Duluth! Amy thought the Quad God would have bigger quads. Lindsey Vonn crashes. ChatGPT helps Amy find a skiing outfit. Maya wants to watch The Cutting Edge again. IYKYK. Toe pick! Maya and Amy reminisce about 80s movies where an athletic underdog triumphs over poverty and local jerks. Amy gives a football update leading up to The Big Game. Maya mistakes fireworks from the Plymouth Fire & Ice Festival for combat noise. Maya and Amy imagine what kind of trouble they'll get into when they are 80 and live together.

Du'Plessis Kirifi has had one of the more inspiring journeys to the top and is one heck of lad to top it off. From growing up in Taranaki and spending part of his childhood in Samoa, to working three jobs while chasing his rugby dream, Dups has had anything but a straight road to the top.He opens up on the setbacks that shaped him — missing out on NZ U20s after being told he was “good enough but a bit of a dickhead”, the grind of trying to pack on size when everyone said he was too small, and the lessons he learned from competing hard in his early Hurricanes days. But through sheer hard work and resilience, he's gone from labouring on worksites and sleeping in mates' garages to captaining Wellington, becoming a leader at the Hurricanes, and finally achieving his All Black dream. In this episode we chat about…Growing up between Samoa and Taranaki, and the values his family instilled in himThe brutal honesty that sparked his turnaround after missing NZ U20sThe conscious effort he puts into his speaking The near move to Japan and the moment that kept him in New ZealandThe call from Razor How he got such big Quads! And heaps moreAn inspiring story of perseverance, self-awareness — this is such a good epiosde. Dups is not only a competitor on the field but also one of the most thoughtful and articulate players in the game. What a lad! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Warrior woman—welcome back. This is part two of our hypertrophy deep dive (if you missed the bangin' butt episode, go back and listen to that first). Today, we're moving down the chain—into your quads, hammies, and calves—so you can build legs that look like they train. This isn't just about lunges and leg presses. This is about movement quality, muscular tension, execution, and beauty. It's about finally understanding what it means to train legs properly, so you can build shape, strength, and confidence that people notice. And it's not about smashing yourself with circuits or chasing the burn—it's about training beautifully. If you've been training your legs but still aren't seeing definition—no shape, no pop—this one's for you. Because you're probably doing it like everyone else. And that's the problem. We go deep. Anatomically, strategically, methodically. You'll walk away knowing exactly how to grow muscle in your quads, hamstrings, and calves—and how to do it the Warrior way. KEY TAKEAWAYS: Hypertrophy = Length Under Load + Control Building muscle in your lower body requires deep range, slow tempo, and quality movement—not rushing through circuits. Train Legs With Structure, Not Chaos Random exercises and circuit-style training won't build the legs you want. You need structure, mobility, stability, and progression. The Three-Part Framework for Beautiful Movement: 1. Mobility – Can you access the right positions? 2. Stability – Can you control your body through them? 3. Strength – Can you load them with precision and power? Quads love deep squats, split squats, and leg presses—trained with tempo and control. Hamstrings thrive with hinge patterns like RDLs and leg curls—done slowly and intentionally. Calves matter—for aesthetics, balance, and performance. Stop skipping them. Combining multi-joint and single-joint exercises (e.g., squats and leg extensions) delivers the best growth results. If it's rushed, unstable, or ugly—it's not effective. POWERFUL QUOTES FROM THE EPISODE: “If the movement feels beautiful, it's because you're moving well. That's what builds a body you love.” “We're not chasing the burn—we're chasing execution.” “Women who have legs that turn heads? They move well. They own their training.” “Time under tension equals hypertrophy. Quality equals results.” “This isn't about smashing your legs until you can't walk—it's about moving in a way that works.”

In this “NASM-CPT Podcast,” host Rick Richey takes listeners on an engaging, in-depth exploration of the quads—the powerful muscles of the front thigh affectionately known as "thunder thighs" and “Quadzilla." Rick dives into the fascinating anatomy and function of the quadriceps muscle group, breaking down its four key components: the vastus lateralis, vastus intermedius, vastus medialis (including the notable vastus medialis obliquus or "VMO"), and rectus femoris. Listeners will learn the meaning behind the "quad" name, discover the origins and attachment sites of each muscle, and understand why these muscles are considered a group yet remain distinct in structure and function. Rick masterfully explains joint actions such as knee extension and hip flexion, the unique role of the rectus femoris as a two-joint muscle, and how the design of the quadriceps provides mechanical advantages for movement. Practical guidance also awaits, including tips on properly stretching the quads and understanding how and why certain stretches target different parts of the muscle group. Dr. Richey shares relatable analogies, memorable mnemonics, and everyday fitness advice, making complex biomechanics easy to understand and apply. Whether you're a fitness professional, athlete, or just curious about how your legs work, this episode delivers valuable insights with Rick's trademark humor and clarity. The NBA playoffs may be unpredictable, but at least summer blockbusters deliver. In this episode of They That Hope, Father Dave and Deacon Bob unpack the Cleveland Cavaliers' devastating playoff collapse (RIP hope), debate baseball scandals from Pete Rose to steroid-era legends, and preview the biggest summer movies hitting theaters. From Marvel's new Thunderbolts to the return of Mission: Impossible and a much-anticipated Fantastic Four reboot, they break down what's worth watching and what might just be movie theater popcorn filler. Alongside the movie chatter and sports rants, Deacon Bob introduces an exciting revival of a powerful small group ministry: Discipleship Quads. This free resource fosters spiritual growth through intentional, weekly gatherings rooted in Scripture, catechesis, and deep personal sharing. With new momentum and even a Spanish-language version, the Quads model is helping people grow in faith and community across the country. (Check it out at dquads.com.) The episode wraps with reflections on Pope Leo XIV's installation Mass, his moving words of humility, and the symbolic weight of receiving the Fisherman's Ring. As the Church welcomes a new pope, Father Dave and Deacon Bob consider what might lie ahead in his papacy—including the possibility of a historic first visit to Ukraine. As always, expect humor, brotherhood, and a reminder that our hope isn't in playoffs or premieres—it's in Jesus. Highlighted Sections (00:00) Postseason Chaos and NBA Plot Twists Deacon Bob and Father Dave kick off the episode with a spirited sports recap, reacting to the Cleveland Cavaliers' playoff collapse and the unexpected shape of the NBA postseason. (23:11) A Ministry That's Multiplying: Discipleship Quads Father Dave and Deacon Bob talk about Discipleship Quads—a free resource from Franciscan University that helps small groups grow in faith together.
