One of the Star Wars spin-off stories, ANDOR, is not for the young. It is for the adults and is more of what Star Wars is supposed to be - rebels fighting Space Nazis. The woke Star Wars writers and the constant use of "Nazi" to describe people we don't like is a reason this has happened. When we do this, we forget who the real agents of tyranny are. This says a lot when a story that has shaped our culture turns on its head and is now somehow divided in favor of a fascist, albeit fictional, government. Yes, America can be seen as "A Star Wars Story," a revelation of the method in times where we forget how easy it is to tolerate the acts of global killers just because they wear the right suit or tie. Gene and cohost Tim Swartz introduce a tale about a truly weird character who hung out on the fringes of UFO research with Bryan Shickley. An animator and storyteller, is best known for Fred Crisman: Cave of the Space Nazis, a short film inspired by fan letters sent to Amazing Stories in the 1940s, during the height of the Shaver Mystery. He has interviewed the family of controversial UFO figure Fred Crisman and collaborated with Pacific Northwest historians to adapt Crisman and Shaver's extraordinary lives into an upcoming tongue-in-cheek serialized audio drama. Crisman's life had many curious aspects. He was a key figure in the 1947 Maury Island UFO Sighting, where alleged fragments fell from a UFO. Or maybe they were just conventional pieces of metal. The story was the main focus of a book published in 1952, "The Coming of the Saucers," authored by former Amazing Stories editor Ray Palmer, and the "original" flying saucer witness, Kenneth Arnold. And did Crisman have any connections to the legends that surround the John F. Kennedy assassination? In this episode, Damo and Mick talk about Star Wars, Lenovo technical support, Spirk shipping, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Risa holiday experience, how to reboot Mick when he gets stuck, and pretty much anything else except the Enterprise episode "Storm Front" which is theoretically why they sat down to chat in the first place. It's not a big deal though, because the Space Nazis ended up never existing anyway.

We conclude our own mini-arc this week with our review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Pt.2 (we watched the first part way back in November 2020 on Episode 28), and are reminded yet again that Reggie is a Batman fan. Aside from all this violent vigilantism, we also moan about takeaways, moan about Work, discuss the humble Slut Drop, dive beak-first into the "Birds aren't real" consipracy, laugh at Space Nazis, and join the #HardNippleAmbassador for yet more talk of sex robots. It's a weird episode..

Star Trek often uses metaphors and allegory to depict issues in human history and society. But sometimes... Star Trek just says 'screw all that subtly, here are some aliens dressed up as Nazis'. Joined by guest Leah Mauer, a teacher of the history of genocide, we examine how Star Trek portrays Nazism and depicts (or avoided depicting) the Holocaust. We talk about changing themes of depiction of genocide in America media, and the roles of bystanders, perpetrators and victims. --- HSHW: TOS Patterns of Force; ENT Storm Front Parts 1 & 2.

Conspirinormal Episode 58- Olav Phillips (Alternative 3, The Secret Space Program, and Space Nazis)
Kotaku writers are so well adjusted that they can’t stand the thought of playing as the Empire, or “space Nazis,” in Star Wars: Squadron, but hey, at least the Imperial forces are diverse, right? We talk about this laughable critique along with Jason Schreier getting blasted for his agenda-driven coverage of game development, the hypocrisy of celebrating racebending Greek gods, complaints that video games are fatphobic for making big characters tougher, Kotaku criticizing capitalism while demonstrating why it’s awesome, and Graham Lineham getting poetic justice with the censoring of his sitcom.

Live from Destination Star Trek. Star Trek has always been influenced by real-world history. But, over the course of more than half a century, certain topics have recurred again and again, suffusing the imaginary world of the future with the legacies of our own, often troubled past. Two key influences in particular—World War II and the literature and culture of the sea—have been a pervasive influence on Star Trek’s storytelling, from the earliest episodes of The Original Series right up to Discovery. In this episode of Primitive Culture, we present two panels recorded live at Destination Star Trek in Birmingham, UK. In the first, hosts Clara Cook and Duncan Barrett are joined by Primitive Culture co-founder Tony Black, former Earl Grey host Lee Hutchison, and Dr. Trek himself, Larry Nemecek. In the first, the group discusses the debt Star Trek owes to the history of World War II. In the second, Duncan and Tony explore Star Trek’s nautical influences, from Horatio Hornblower to Moby-Dick. Anne Frank and Counterpoint. Perhaps more than for any other Star Trek series, the shadow of the Holocaust loomed large over Voyager. So, it’s not surprising that, when the time came to pitch a story about alien refugees using the Starfleet vessel as a way to escape persecution, The Diary of Anne Frank was a key touchstone. The resulting episode, “Counterpoint,” remains both a fan favorite and the personal number-one of Captain Janeway herself, Kate Mulgrew. In this episode of Primitive Culture, hosts Clara Cook and Duncan Barrett look into the genesis of this popular Voyager episode, teasing out some of the parallels between its story and Frank’s diary. We consider the ways in which Voyager—and Star Trek in general—engages with the painful legacy of genocide, and the Holocaust in particular. We also look at Starfleet’s approach to aid and asylum, and consider the role of humanitarian resistance against oppressive regimes in the real world. If you're going to have a movie that satirizes fascism and tries to convince people that Denise Richards is an actual human being with a non-wooden face, i.e. Starship Troopers, then maybe you should actually satirize fascism and try to have Denise Richards act like she doesn't have a wooden face. The Original Series Season 2 - Essential Trek Philosophy. Season 2 of Star Trek: The Original Series playfully explores human nature, what human nature is and what it could become, its place in the cosmos, and its relation to humanity's past, present, and future. From future Space Nazis in "Patterns of Force" to ancient Greek gods and Roman gladiators in space ("Who Mourns for Adonais?" and "Bread and Circuses"), TOS season 2 explores the best and the worst of human nature across the whole of human history. We also see the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise debate ethical questions about our relation to the unknown, from giant space amoebas in "The Immunity Syndrome" to the mystical powers of Korob and Sylvia in "Catspaw," along with the iterative development of one the defining concepts of the Star Trek universe, the noninterference principle known as "The Prime Directive." In this episode of Meta Treks, hosts Mike Morrison and Zachary Fruhling continue their philosophical retrospective of every season of Star Trek, discussing their top choices for "Essential Trek Philosophy" from season 2 of Star Trek: The Original Series.
In this bonus episode, Shana and Daniel discuss a film they've been rewatching a lot lately, Django Unchained, and the horrifying legacy of slavery. Also folk heroes in fiction, "the father of gynecology," positionality, and the deep satisfaction of seeing slavers brutally murdered. Warning: this episode contains unusually aggressive language and themes, even for Oi! Spaceman. Main Topic: Django Unchained. Nominally a Doctor Who podcast. Identifiers. "I believe in racism." Positionality. The legacy of slavery is still with us. Not black. Holocaust. Werner von Braun. Gypsies versus Romanis. Dripping racism. Knoxville. Linguistics. Rocks and windows. Racially-motivated violence. Badass black heroes. Should this film even exist? Fun-and-games slavery. Tarantino's positionality. Use of the N-word. Spielberg. Maus. Basterds versus Unchained. Space Nazis. Tarantino and revolution. Will Smith. Christoph Waltz. His name is King. The immigrant experience. Clever to a fault. Diction. White guilt. His name is Django. Franco Nero. Appropriation. Not advocating white genocide. Chapelle's show. Two kinds of violence. Casual. Every day. Living to his skin. Beer as a reward. The Brittle Brothers. Django's agency. Joseph Campbell bullshit. The Broomhilda myth. Metatext. Cotton. Candie. Moguy the slave. "Why don't they kill us?" Quiet heroism. Jerry-rig. Tortured. Patriarch. Steven. Black Complicity. Fool. Too clever. Burn it with fire or live to fight another day? Informed consent. Candie's motivation. Walton Goggins. Faces. "Little Troublemaker." Heroes. Structure. Wrapping Up. From NPR: Remembering Anarcha, Lucy, and Betsy. The American Slave Coast. Chappelle's Show: The Time Haters. Find all future episodes at oispaceman.com. Shana and Daniel are also now writing weekly about sex and gender at eruditorumpress.com.
Troy and Patrick are joined by a special guest: M/M erotica author "Vyrania" and chat about Donald Trump butt plugs, drive-thru junkies, D&D, gator love, Fight Club, and the office egg-man.
This week: Facts are Lies! An interview offers a rather bleak insight into the darker reaches of the games industry. Netflix is apparently developing a live-action Zelda TV series with some rather lofty goals. Also, battling robots, Log Horizon Vs Sword Art Online, the new and improved Starbound and hammy Space Nazis. Have something to say? Send your emails to noexcusesvtw@gmail.com. Or tune in live at 9pm EST Saturday to interact directly with the show via IRC!
Recorded September 10th, 2014. Tonight we spoke with Conspiracy researcher and author Olav Phillips about his new book "The Secret Space Age: Secret Space Programs, Breakaway Civilizations, Nazi UFOs, SDI and Alternative Three". We start off with the Mockumentary from the 70s called Alternative Three and whether or not the producers may have unwittingly stumbled upon something real. We also discuss the possibility that UFOs are actually from Earth and are part of a secret space program. We also discuss the origins of this secret program in the Third Reich. This as our friend Adam Gorightly likes to say is a Cornucopia of High Weirdness. Recorded all of two hours after Episode One, we were perhaps a bit too sleepy to really grapple with "Revenge of the Cybermen" and "Genesis of the Daleks," but no doubt we'll come back to these themes again and again. Lots of random douchiness from Harry Sullivan for those amused by such. Show Notes: Main topic: Genesis of the Daleks and Revenge of the Cybermen. Daniel plays a joke on Shana, because he's a dork. Recording a couple of hours after recording Episode 1. Talkin' about Harry Sullivan. Forgetting about Harry Sullivan. "Old Girl" and the snippiness of Harry Sullivan. The male "action hero" as a companion in Doctor Who. Daniel uses the word "fisticuffs" unironically. Perhaps even Ian Marter realized how useless Harry Sullivan was? Shana barely remembers Revenge of the Cybermen. The plottiness of RotC. Reconnecting wires and red veiny face things as plague effects. Bad science to motivate reasonable storytelling. Daniel is bored by sequences involving court politics. (At least) borderline racist makeup. Repeated tropes from the Pertwee era. The "runaround" as a Doctor Who trope. Shana's first yawn. The Doctor becomes a suicide bomber. What would Shana do to revise the RotC script? Daniel references Doctor Who: The Memory Cheats. Shana gives intro essay writing instructions. This podcast is no longer PG-13. Moving on to Genesis of the Daleks: the greatest episode ever? This episode as the epitome of Space Nazis in Who. Shana yawns a second time. What about Harry getting his foot stuck in a giant clam? The genius of Michael Wisher as Davros. Daniel uses an extremely mixed metaphor. Shana wants a Time Ring for herself. Daniel talks about how wonderful the Daleks are for about six hours and completely loses Shana's attention. Shana yawns a third time. How the various Doctors respond to alien menaces. Possibly sympathizing with Davros? Science used for evil again. The creepiness of Nyder. Davros's largely unexplained deformities. All the stuff we didn't even get around to talking about. Shana yawns a fourth time. How responsible was Terry Nation for Genesis of the Daleks? The captivating speechifying of Tom Baker, and the ethics of genocide. The Tom Baker era's relative lack of recurring villains. Shana yawns a fifth time. Then a sixth. (It's very late at this point.) Overuse of recurring villains, particularly the Master in the David Tennant run. A bit on the use of the Daleks in the twenty-first century. Talking about Genesis vs. Robot. Sarah Jane's camo outfit. Wrapping up. Ending with the final lines of "Genesis of the Daleks" as our quote.
In this first official episode of Oi! Spaceman: A Doctor Who Love Story, Shana and Daniel discuss Tom Baker's first three stories: Robot, The Ark in Space, and The Sontaran Experiment. Also discussed: Doctor Who: Legacy, Colin Baker's dickishness, the feminism of Sarah Jane, and much, much more. Show notes:Main topic: Robot, the Ark in Space, and The Sontaran Experiment. Doctor Who: Legacy. A bit on Colin Baker. Extra-legally-obtained episodes? Another little bit on William Hartnell's antepenultimate episode The Smugglers. Shana's physical attraction to the iconic Tom Baker. Everyone's love for Sarah Jane Smith. The Third Doctor Era and Benny Hill. First mention of Harry Sullivan and "old girl." Sarah Jane's investigative reporting instincts in "Robot." The Third Doctor as the prototypical "Scientist Doctor" versus the Scientific Reform Society. "Burninating." Doctor Who and Isaac Asimov? Sarah Jane as the everywoman. Previewing future episodes on Jo Grant and the Third Doctor. The Ark in Space: one of Daniel's all-time favorites -- Shana is skeptical. Daniel can't remember who wrote the Ark in Space and gets it totally wrong. The charm of re-using corridors. The joy of bubble-wrap monsters and lo-fidelity TV screens. Shana has no memory of the Wirn, but loves the character bits. Doctor Who as an anthology series. Standoff between the Wirn and the Doctor. The Doctor tweaking Sarah Jane's feminism: what do we think? Every episode with the word "Time" is bad, except for one, and Daniel can't remember it until he googles it: BAD FAN! Sontar-HA! Did the Sontaran Experiment exist on a far-future Earth or another planet? We're both Bad Fans. The Sontarans torture people off-screen, and Sarah Jane's outfit is adorable. Second mention of Harry Sullivan and "old girl." The Sontarans as Space Nazis. Questioning humanity through the lens of fictional alien species. Military red tape. Sontaran makeup issues. Harry Sullivan's incompetence. Third mention of "old girl." Tom Baker's injuries and comparing the action scenes of the Third and Fourth Doctors. Sarah Jane's empathy. Anti-climactic endings in Doctor Who. Shana prefers Robot to The Ark in Space. Laughing at the B-movieness of Robot. Podcasting at the speed of Google! Ending on the classic quote from The Ark in Space. Links: Tom Baker talks about his 50th Anniversary Experience.Daniel's Twitter: @danieleharperShana's Twitter: @inkyosa

Wherein Chris lays out his ideas for a bloody screenplay called “Period Piece.” The gang helps workshop the characters, setting, conflict, and humor of this guns-blazing, gender-defying, sibling-rivalry tale. What do Space Nazis, NAMBLA, and Honey Boo Boo have in common? None of them will appear in this script! Elsewhere, Corey and Allison give the definitive advice on writing women. Theme music by Latché Swing.
Greg brings a game appropriately called "Taglines" which leads to discussion on Running Man and Jennifer Lopez. Keith does an in-depth analysis of Iron Sky starring Space Nazis!
