They say Star Wars means family and this episode is a prime example of that. While Glen is away enjoying the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Jason has his brother, Todd, on to talk all things Star Wars. They reminisce about growing up with MicroMachines, watching the original trilogy while sick from school, collecting stormtroopers, and so much more. Todd is also a graffiti artists, and he shows off some of his Star Wars pieces. He also shares walking into a 501st warehouse in South Florida where they had props and sets stored.

Bigger isn't always better! In this episode of Cracktastic Plastic, we're going small—really small—as we dive into The Art of the Mini Figure! From the rubbery charm of M.U.S.C.L.E. to the fierce detail of Battle Beasts and the tiny speed demons of Micro Machines, we're celebrating the little figures that packed a big punch in our toy collections. Whether they came in buckets, blind bags, or blister packs, these small-scale figures captured our imaginations and proved that size doesn't matter when it comes to fun. Join us as we reminisce, rank our favorites, and discuss why minis continue to be a beloved staple in collecting. And we talk about Dr. Tongue's I Had That Shoppe to see if we should go there someday. While dolls, games, and action figures have existed for decades, even centuries, in the 1980s toys became big business – the industry earned an estimated $12 billion in America in 1986 alone. IP concepts and trends that started in the 1960s and 70s were fully developed, manufactured, and marketed to eager moppets transfixed by after-school cartoons or breakfast cereal tie-ins. And the toys themselves were incredible, with many of the most popular lines standing the test of time even decades later. Now the Great Pop Culture Debate wants to determine: what IS the Best 80s Toys Line? Toy lines discussed: Cabbage Patch Kids, Jem and the Holograms, Micro Machines, G.I. Joe, Pound Puppies, Polly Pocket, Masters of the Universe, My Little Pony, Care Bears, Star Wars, Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Popples, Thundercats, Transformers. Join host Eric Rezsnyak and GPCD panelists Karissa Kloss, Kate Racculia, and Zack Derby as they discuss and debate 16 of the most legendary toy lines of the 1980s. So many great Tiny Toys came out back in the 80s & 90s. We had M.U.S.C.L.E. Men, Monster in my Pocket, Mighty Max, Micro Machines, Z Bots, and many more. @RussLyman and @NESADDICT discussing what ones they collected growing up and found memories of playing with them in this episode of The Weekly Warp Pipe Podcast.

Galoob was a small toy company based in San Francisco that developed and sold several toy lines. In the early 90s, they were able to acquire a license to incorporate Star Wars vehicles in one of their most successful lines, MicroMachines. Jim Fong worked his way up to the roll of design director, and oversaw the development of Star Wars MicroMachines and the Action Fleet line. During this discussion Jim shares how he got the job at Galoob, the first time he saw Star Wars (it was early), how he became friends with Ralph McQuarrie, the Easter eggs he was able to hide in the toy line, visiting Skywalker Ranch, how MicroMachines were made, and shares some behind the scenes photos (watch those on YouTube!). Jim also shares his attempt to incorporate bathrooms in Action Fleet vehicles and also shares what might have been if Galoob wasn't bought by Hasbro. All the while, Jason is geeking out! Download and listen this very special episode! Jim would like to add: ”I wish to thank the whole Galoob Team that made it such a great place to work. Without them, it would not have been as special as it was, and I thank the Galco team in Hong Kong for making our vision happen, and putting up with our constant changes. The company is gone but we will live forever in molded plastic!” --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/smugglersgalaxy/message

Galoob's Z-Bots were one of the many Micro Machine-adjacent lines that took over toy aisles in the 1990s. This line featured dozens and dozens of vibrantly colorful fighting robots that featured claws, teeth, wings, guns, missiles, and nearly everything else you could imagine. We're back and we have a doctor's note for our absence. So let's continue our Beast Mode series by exploring the ultimate game of cat and mouse with Namco's Mappy! Why did Pastblaster just pick up two new meowkies of his own? What ever happened to Micro Machines icon, Motormouth John? How did a Journey discussion make its way into this episode? What free games did Jarrod just score from a local laundromat? The listener questions this week are some thinkers: what new Marvel and Capcom characters would we place in a Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 remake, and what is our favorite year for arcade releases? Want us to answer your question in a future episode? Join the Podouken Discord and ask away: discord.gg/k5vf2Jz

Welcome to the place where we get to let our geek flags fly and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. This is a look into the world of geekdom and some geek news, comics, The Simpsons, Star Wars, and whatever randomness finds its way onto the recording. Patreon.com/RememberTheGame I've been beating the F-Zero drum for years, while showing the series about as much love as Nintendo does. It took TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR episodes to cover one of my favourite games of all-time. Simply inexcusable. But we're trying to right that wrong this week by showing some love to a game that launched not only a franchise, but a console. Yeah, this was an SNES launch title, and I think it speaks to damned good it is that once the Super Nintendo was all said and done, this still stands out as one of the better games in one of the best libraries of all-time. My guest this week is Juris Dr. Mario, long time supporter of the show and one of the generous mofos that donated $1,000 to the Stollery Children's Hospital last year as part of my 24 hour Extra-Life stream. His reward? Good karma and a chance to talk to me. It's a ying/yang thing. But we both loved F-Zero, so in the end, I think it all worked out. And before we blow smoke up that soundtrack's ass, I race through another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, we talk about gamers that seem to hate gaming. On the heels of the Mario RPG announcement, what Nintendo game do I most want to see remade? And will Spider-Gwen ever get her own game? Ross tells Carrie about attending ONRAC veteran Lori Spagna's standing-room-only talk at Conscious Life Expo 2023 on calling down divine guidance to up-level your vibration, navigating the Multi~Dimensional Reality, “activating” your DNA, connecting with starseed ancestors and peers, and (you know it, ladies) finding your purpose. Ross analyzes Lori's unconventional views on biology, physics, and astronomy, and then asks her if she has any friends. We have social media: Twitter! Facebook!
From the minds that brought us Micro Machines, we got a baby doll line in the early 90's. Influenced by Kewpies and Betty Boop, these dolls are more for adults than kids, but who knew that in the 90's?
Dan & Manny hang out in person for the first time in almost three years to put Dan's childhood toys to the ultimate test--THE NOSTALGIA TEST! This is a classic Nostalgia Test hang, it's loud, it's filled with sound problems, and Dan & Manny totally forgot they were recording an episode. They talk about Transformers, Micro Machines, GI Joes, Xpanders, Ghostbusters everything, and so much more. Episode Notes Nintendo 64 Ghostbusters Nerf gun Vintage GI Joes Ghostbuster Action Figures (old school)
You may remember our guest this week from “Transformers" as the voice of Blur, or from "Saved By The Bell" as Mr. Testaverde. But you undoubtedly remember him as the Micro Machines Man from the 90's "Micro Machines" commercials. We welcome the fastest talker in the world, actor, singer, and spokesman John Moschitta Jr. to discuss his start in acting, how he was discovered as a fast talker, becoming a pop culture icon, the behind the scenes of the ad industry, and much more. This is one of those great conversations you don't want to miss! “Well, you've blown my toy” The panel of peril run screaming around the house like a bunch of absolute little monsters amongst an army of siblings and extended family. It is, to be honest, an absolute nightmare. Fortunately they have the respite of settling in to watch a Boxing Day treat in the form of 1990's Home Alone! Kevin McCallister (Macauley Culkin) is just an ordinary kid: he likes plain pizza, leaving toys laying around all over the shop, and not having to sleep in the same space as bed wetters. But when he is accidentally left behind by the family on their trip to Paris he has to contend with The Wet Bandits, Marv (Daniel Stern) and Harry (Joe Pesci) as they attempt to ransack the empty homes of their quiet Chicago suburb. Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEDaVHmw7r4 ********PLOT SPOILER ALERT******** Rather like Hans Gruber last week, Harry and Marv didn't plan for a spanner in the works of their plan as little Kevin rigs his house with obstacles, ready for their intrusion. Micro Machines, cans o' paint, blow torches, and a simple nail all stand in the Wet Bandits' way. Can they secure the loot, silence Kevin and/or escape with their lives? Not if comedy has anything to say about it. What did the panel think of this week's movie? How in all that is holy can they improve upon the Bandits's masterplan? And which evil schemer will be christened this week's most diabolical? Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals!

Remember Ernest Saves Christmas? Neither do we. But we know it came out in 1988 when the Nintendo Entertainment System, Micro Machines, and the 1st Collectable Happy Holidays Barbie were circled in Christmas Catalogues by kids everywhere. We know the movie was peppered with other characters played by Jim Varney, recurring characters from other Ernest movies, and Santa. Do You Remember Liking This Movie?
Robin Shorr is here in person and her pants match her purse but she swears it's not on purpose. Her old neighbor Luka Jones whom I loved as Aidy Bryant's boyfriend in Shrill is here and not only is he an actor but he has a PhD in philosophy. We talk about neighbor stuff, sibling love, Bill Murray, Angelina, Robin's prank, Nelson Franklin whom I don't know, acting in general, height, assimilation, the micro machines guy, holidays and more. While not necessarily retro, with a trip to the happiest place on earth on the books, the new 4-pack DroidFactory exclusive has 3 of my favorite Halloween-themed droids. And if Halloween isn't nostalgic for you, I think you did it wrong. Think they're not targeting us, the Classified Checklist from the last 3 years says differently. I always preferred some articulation in my retro, but the MOTU Little People are still killing it. Lastly, Micro Machines are back and now finally in G1-style with a Prime Playset.
New Earth: Thin Air. The planet of Belle Terre has been through hell as have the colonists from the Federation but what was thought to be a random Klaud attack may have made the planet uninhabitable for life, forever unless the crew of the Enterprise can come up with a solution in a matter of days. In this episode of Literary Treks hosts Matthew Rushing and Casey Pettitt talk about New Earth: Thin Air. We discuss a new problem, bluffing, a sickness, the solution, a death, our ratings and final thoughts. In the news we have two Mirror War comics to discuss, issue six and the one-shot, Sisko. DeeLow's running the soundboard today. Tony's totally at the bottom of his game. Sarah is keeping her cool with the unprofessional atmosphere. Our Wordhole word of the day: admonish. Our Better Recommendation: The human brain can understand 400 words a minute, but the average person can speak around 150 words. Try to listen to a podcast at 1.5 speed. We'll do it for you. We play two rounds of Master Debater. Round 1: The best way to rid Earth of trash is to put it on a spaceship and send it directly into the sun. Round 2: Debate the validity of voicemail. Tony continues to run the show into the ground. DeeLow gets our content match out of the way with Mista Tung Twista, Tony adds to it with Busta Rhymes, and pumps it up with Snow. Then we do some tongue twisters of our own. Then we do some palindromes. Why? Why not? Finally, we pay a visit to John Moschitta, Jr., the MicroMachines guy. At 1.5 speed. Also, if you're a podcaster and you want to get the word out on your show, send us your promo and we'll put it on! This week's episode has a couple of point-and-click adventures, a dreamy game that's sometimes a nightmare to play, a game all about fishing that finds me fishing for reasons to stick with it in its current buggy form, and a bloody Micro Machines-type game that's surprisingly okay (but just okay). Also, there's a new season and a new map for Apex Legends, so that's a thing too. Anyway...That's it and that's all folks.
