Join us for an audio recording of a LIVE ‘radio style’ play-by-play broadcast of the UFC 262 PPV (pay-per-view) MAIN CARD which had LIVE updates, commentary, results & reactions, from around 9:45PM ET Sat night, around the start of the Featured Prelim bout between Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza & André ‘Sergipano’ Muniz, OR at the start of the Main Card opener between Shane ‘Hurricane’ Burgos & Edson Barboza Jr. Throughout the telecast, our host, Matt Ryan, will be flying solo without his usual co-host, Harry Terjanian, but he will still be doing a radio-style PBP commentary broadcast of every single important bit of violence. The show was a live YouTube stream, that was broadcast from New Jersey. For the video version of the show visit us and be sure to subscribe to Combat Culture on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/hyV2Rg_0_zA This weekend the UFC showcased a fight for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s vacated UFC Lightweight Championship Title. It was going to be an all out battle for the belt between fight veterans Charles Oliveira & Michael Chandler in the main event. The UFC 262 PPV event was broadcast from the Toyota Center, Houston, TX, with a full capacity live crowd. Returning to the octagon for that main event, we had multiple UFC record-holder, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. He was entering the bout with a remarkable 30-8 record, with the most submission wins in the UFC history at 14, and tied for the most finishes at 16. ‘Do Bronx’ had also received 17 post fight bonuses (including 11 POTN bonuses, the most in UFC history), ranked #3 in the LW division. Oliveira was banging it out in this title fight against power striker & 3-time Bellator MMA LW Champion, as well as winner of the Bellator Season 4 LW Tournament, Michael Chandler. Who was the #4 ranked LW since joining the UFC in his debut on Jan 24 of this year against Dan Hooker at UFC 257. ‘Iron Mike’ was entering the bout with his impressive, 22-5 record, on a 3-fight win streak against the likes of Hooker, Benson Henderson & Sidney Outlaw – which were all striking finishes around the 2-mins mark of the 1st Rd. In the co-main event, we have another LW bout between fan favorite ‘El Cucuy’ Tony Ferguson & ‘Benny’ Beneil Dariush. Ferguson was coming off two losses to Oliveira & Gaethje in 2020, with a current 25-5 record, the well-rounded combat artist was ranked #5 in the division at this time. Meanwhile, Dariush, a BJJ specialist from Iran, was on a 6-fight win streak, 5 finishes (3 of them subs), making him the oddsmakers favorite here – despite carrying the rank of #9 in the division. He was coming at this bout with an impressive 20-4 record, having last lost to Alexander Hernandez at UFC 222, back in March of 2018. These bouts will have been preceded by a FW bout taking place between Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell, with his 15-5 record, after defeating Tyson Nam in January by Split Decision, who was matched up against Rogério Bontorin, sporting a 16-3 record, coming off two losses during the last year. In addition to that, we had a match-up between Women’s Flyweights, ‘Blonde Fighter’ Katlyn Chookagian & ‘Vivi’ Viviane Araujo. Our featured main card opener was between Shane Burgos & Edson Barboza after an extensive 7-bout undercard. What a wild night full of fights we have to share with you! Bloody Elbow fight experts, Eddie Mercado & Dayne Fox, are here to breakdown the UFC 262 PPV event. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. (SPOILERS...) Returning to the octagon for the main event, we had multiple UFC record-holder, Charles ‘Do Bronx’ Oliveira. who entered the bout the fave, with a remarkable 30-8 record, the most sub wins in UFC history at 14 & tied for the most finishes at 16. ‘Do Bronx’ has also received 17 post fight bonuses (including 11 POTN bonuses, the most in UFC history), & was currently ranked #3 in the LW division. Oliveira was banging it out in this title fight against power striker & 3-time Bellator LW Champ, as well as winner of the Bellator Season 4 LW Tourney, Michael Chandler. Who was also now the #4 ranked LW since joining the UFC in his debut on Jan 24 of this year against Dan Hooker at UFC 257. ‘Iron Mike’ entered the bout with an impressive, 22-5 record, on a 3-fight win streak against the likes of Hooker, Benson Henderson & Sidney Outlaw – which were all striking finishes around the 2-mins mark of the 1st Rd. He did not disappoint, in what proved to be a dominating victory over ‘El Cucuy’ tonight. Also on the card, we had a Flyweight bout between Matt ‘Danger’ Schnell & Rogério Bontorin, who put on an impressive performance to a unanimous decision victory over Schnell. In addition to that, we had a match-up between Women’s Flyweights, ‘Blonde Fighter’ Katlyn Chookagian & ‘Vivi’ Viviane Araujo. These bouts were preceded by our featured main card opener with a bizarre delayed reaction KO when Shane Burgos faced off with Edson Barboza for a FOTN show, & a 7-bout undercard well worth discussing. Overall, this now 12-bout card saw 2 exhilarating 1st Rd finishes, 3 gnarly subs, 4 impressive KO/TKO’s - including our Title Fight, and 5 solid decisions - 1 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Charles Oliveira & Christos Giagos; FOTN honors went to Edson Barboza vs. Shane Burgos, in what many are calling a FOTY contention bout. Hello everyone, and welcome to the inaugural episode of 8 Point MMA.com’s: Month of Bellator Special. With Bellator Season Two quickly approaching 8 Point MMA.com has agreed to sit down and interview every fighter that will be competing in Season Two. This week we will be starting with all the Bellator Featherweight Tournament participants. First up, we have Wilson Reis. Wilson was on Bellator's first ever season, and ended up losing to eventual tournament winner, and now Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Soto. Wilson got the call to return to Bellator and compete in their Season Two tournament. When asked about getting a second chance at the title Wilson told 8 Point MMA.com, "I was very excited and very happy to come back in Season Two. I'm excited to get in, beat three opponents, and win the title. That's my goal right now." Wilson is matched up with Shad Lierley for his opening match up in the tournament. Wilson realizes Shad is a threat, but told us "I think it's a great match up. I know Shad is well rounded, I (have) watched his footage. I'm very excited about the fight, I think his style is a great match up for me. I look forward to being better (than him). Shad's background before MMA was in wrestling, where he was a top college wrestler. With Wilson being a submission expert, we asked him if he thought this played out to his advantage and he said, "My Jiu-Jitsu is a big advantage for me. I know it's good for me, because now I am learning my striking, and my wrestling. I love to wrestle, it's one of my favorite sports. I think that fact that Shad is a very good wrestler is going to make the fight tough for me. At the same time though, it's fun because I love to wrestle." Wilson will be one of the few returning fighters from Bellator Season 1. When asked about this providing a possible advantage, Wilson said "It benefits me because I know how to fight three times in three months. You have to come with a good game plan. Especially after your first fight, you have to be smart. How to be ready, and keep your body in shape." Click the podcast to hear Wilson talk about a possible rematch with Joe Soto, how he has grown as a fighter since Season 1, and more!!!
