Its Monday 16th September 2025 and in today's show we discuss yet another defensive horror show as we come away pointless from Saturday's trip to Sixfields, a result which sees us fall to second bottom of the table, already eleven points off the play-offs and thirteen off automatic promotion. It can't get any worse, can it?Northampton 1 - Blackpool 0Talking pointsNo clean sheet in 14 matches - Why cant Steve Bruce sort out the defence when he was a defender himself - has he lost the dressing room? Is he spending enough time at the training ground? (lowest XG and high XGa suggest it's not simply ‘the defence' but the entire system)Why is Horsfall not starting and Ihekwei is?Why haven't we signed a left footed centre half? Why isnt Zac Ashworth, a specialist LB playing at LBWhy is Albie Morgan playing on the LW? (also Honeyman in previous games)Why do all other team appear fitter than us? (lowest tackles made in entire league suggests lack of ‘fight') Bruce in or out? Episode 105: This week, Kyle Van Pelt talks with Phillip Hamman, President & CEO at Linscomb Wealth (LW). Phillip leads the team in developing and executing the firm's visionary strategies. His leadership extends to serving on the LW Board of Directors, chairing the Executive Committee, and contributing as a voting member of the Investment Committee, reflecting his deep proficiencies in investment advisory, client service, and wealth planning. Kyle and Phillip talk about how hospitality, character, and processes redefine client service. Phillip unpacks the important role that systems and processes play in building a scalable business. He also shares LW's thoughtful approach to succession planning and how leading firms leverage technology to stay ahead.  In this episode: (00:00) - Intro (02:30) - Phillip's money moment (04:53) - How LW guides firms with ambitious plans and goals (06:52) - How kissing frogs relate to growth (09:32) - LW's strategic expansion in the Southeast US (11:50) - LW's organic growth strategy (14:03) - What makes great client service (18:34) - The importance of systems and processes (22:58) - LW's succession planning strategy (27:12) - The role of technology in highly successful firms  (29:48) - Phillip's outlook on the future of the industry (32:27) - Phillip's Milemarker Minute Key Takeaways Marry vision with agility. While setting ambitious, clear strategic goals is crucial, always build in flexibility and an adaptable mindset. Recognize that the market and external circumstances are largely beyond your control.  Practice hospitality. Elevate your client service beyond mere satisfaction. This means actively and deeply listening to your client's unspoken needs and going the extra mile—consistently delivering unexpected 'wow' moments that make them feel exceptionally valued and understood. Character + process = results. When a firm's character and efficient processes are in sync, they create a one-team approach that consistently drives positive results for both the business and its clients. Holistic succession planning. Look beyond just identifying future leaders. Develop robust training and development programs for your next generation of advisors and nurture intergenerational understanding within the firm. Quotes "Be strategic-minded but definitely adaptable because there's so much out there you really can't control." ~ Phillip Hamman "Character plus process equals results. We try to embody that, bringing the values of the firm together every day with this one-team approach that we have for going out and achieving results for clients." ~ Phillip Hamman "If you're going to be a holistic, fee-only fiduciary wealth advisor, the human element will continue to remain just so important. Spend the time to figure out who you are and where you really add value for clients." ~ Phillip Hamman Links  Phillip Hamman on LinkedIn Linscomb Wealth Ryan Patterson Unreasonable Hospitality Connect with our hosts Milemarker.co Kyle on LinkedIn Jud on LinkedIn Subscribe and stay in touch Apple Podcasts Spotify YouTube Produce game-changing content with Turncast Turncast helps your company grow by producing top-quality content and fostering transformative conversations. METR (where I work, though I'm cross-posting in a personal capacity) evaluated GPT-5 before it was externally deployed. We performed a much more comprehensive safety analysis than we ever have before; it feels like pre-deployment evals are getting more mature. This is the first time METR has produced something we've felt comfortable calling an "evaluation" instead of a "preliminary evaluation". It's much more thorough and comprehensive than the things we've created before and it explores three different threat models. It's one of the closest things out there to a real-world autonomy safety-case. It also provides a rough sense of how long it'll be before current evaluations no longer provide safety assurances. I've ported the blogpost over to LW in case people want to read it. Details about METR's evaluation of OpenAI GPT-5 Note on independence: This evaluation was conducted under a standard NDA. Due to the sensitive information [...] ---Outline:(00:58) Details about METR's evaluation of OpenAI GPT-5(01:23) Executive Summary(07:08) Assurance Checklist Summary(07:42) What capabilities may be necessary to cause catastrophic risks via these threat models?(10:43) Thresholds for concern(12:48) Time horizon measurement(16:30) 1. What if GPT-5's capabilities are higher than what our task suite can properly measure?(19:23) 2. What if our treatment of reward hacking runs is unfair to GPT-5?(21:45) 3. What if we set GPT-5's token budget too low?(24:26) 4. What if our task suite significantly underestimates the 'real-world' capabilities of GPT-5?(25:59) Strategic Sabotage(30:54) GPT-5's capability profile is similar to past models(31:30) No real strategic sabotage was identified by our monitor(32:16) Manual inspection of reasoning traces did not reveal strategic sabotage(33:04) GPT-5's estimates of its own time horizon are inaccurate(33:53) We do find evidence of significant situational awareness, though it is not robust and often gets things wrong(35:41) GPT-5's behavior changes depending on what evaluation it 'believes' it is in, and this is often reflected in its reasoning traces(37:01) GPT-5's reasoning traces were occasionally inscrutable(38:08) Limitations and future work(41:57) Appendix(42:00) METR's access to GPT-5(43:38) Honeypot Results Table(44:42) Example Behavior in task attempts(44:47) Example limitation: inappropriate levels of caution(46:19) Example capability: puzzle solvingThe original text contained 10 footnotes which were omitted from this narration. --- First published: August 7th, 2025 Source: https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/SuvWoLaGiNjPDcA7d/metr-s-evaluation-of-gpt-5 --- Narrated by TYPE III AUDIO. ---Images from the article:

Welcome to the Always Bayern Chelsea show. Subscribe to the Always Bayern Chelsea YouTube channel to stay up to date with all of the latest transfer news, previews, breakdowns, predictions, and so much more. Danny kicks things off with a short introduction previewing all of the cool incoming videos and plans that Always Bayern Chelsea has on the docket. He then goes into detailing looking at all the players that Bayern Munich has been linked to this transfer window and rating them via a tier system. Many things go into these rankings including a players talent level, floor and ceiling, as well as how well they will fit into Bayern Munich's current system under manager Vincent Kompany. He also looks at whether or not Bayern has a plan for these players going forward. He's predicting S or A tier players to instantly improve Bayern Munich's chances at winning multiple trophies and making a deep run in European competitions this upcoming 2025/2026 season, while C or D tier players might not have a role on the team at the moment or would likely only be used as depth pieces. Some players discussed like Florian Wirtz, Nico Williams, and Bradely Barcola will not be joining Bayern this season while others like Luis Diaz or Nick Woltemade seem to have a better shot. Danny mostly talks about attacking players since Bayern's main transfer strategy at the moment seems to be around filling that hole at LW as well as finding someone to back up Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane. The Bavarians will be losing Leroy Sane and Thomas Muller and are looking to fill those shoes and bolster the attack. Other players discussed include Chelsea's Christopher Nkunku, Xavi Simons, Rafael Leao, Eberechi Eze, Kaoru Mitoma, Marcus Rashford, Leandro Trossard, Rodrygo, Cody Gapko, and more! He even talks about the transfers that have already been done like Tom Bischof and Jonathan Tah. Subscribe to the YouTube channel to stay updated! Drop us a comment with your thoughts! Today's daf is sponsored by Abby Sosland in loving memory of Rabbi Henry Sosland. "He taught us that daily learning could be the ultimate source of comfort and sipuk nefesh." Today’s daf is sponsored by the Hadran Women of Long Island in honor of our friend and co-learner, Bracha Rutner, whose completion of Masechet Sanhedrin marks her siyum on all of Shas. "You dedicated the last seven and one-half years to this monumental achievement, and we are so proud that you are one of our group, and that we are able to share in your simcha! לכי מחיל אל חיל." Korach's wife convinced him to rebel against Moshe, despite Korach initially arguing against her persuasion. What were her specific complaints against Moshe and Aharon? Based on inferences from Bamidbar 16:14 and Tehillim 106:16, Rabbi Yochanan explains that they accused Moshe of engaging in relations with their wives. Moshe approached Datan and Aviram, seeking reconciliation. From this action, Reish Lakish teaches that one should actively work to resolve disputes. Different verses are brought to prove that anyone who challenges their teacher is considered as challenging God directly. There is a debate regarding Korach's fate: Was he swallowed by the earth or burned with the others who offered incense? This remains unresolved due to different interpretations of the verses. However, the Torah clearly states that Korach's sons survived. Regarding the generation that wandered in the desert, sages debate whether they will have a share in the World-to-Come. Various verses are cited to support both positions. Similarly, the fate of the ten tribes is disputed. Will they eventually return to the land or were they permanently exiled? This discussion centers on different interpretations of Devarim 29:27. Scholars also debate whether these tribes will receive a portion in the World-to-Come, with various verses brought as evidence. In both these controversies, Rabbi Akiva takes the stricter position that they will neither return nor have a share in the World-to-Come. Rabba bar bar Hanna quotes Rabbi Yochanan questioning Rabbi Akiva's stance, noting that Rabbi Akiva typically adopts more lenient positions. What is the source for Rabbi Akiva's general tendency toward leniency? From what point in development can one merit entry to the World-to-Come: from conception, birth, the ability to speak, or the ability to say "amen"?

Here is a little gift to our GK and Friends subscribers. (In the Back Room, the paid subscribers receive a monologue from the 80's weekly)12.18.82Calm falls over LW the week before Christmas, yet there still are no Christmas lights on Main St. GK went back after school was done and went to Christmas Eve service with the eldest Ingqvist daughter (they had been chatting through the fall). He was anything but calm at the service. As they sang “Silent Night” at the service, the congregation broke into tears. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't bring up a tear. After the service, the two of them were talking and he said something he thought was funny. She told him how terribly cold he was and she didn't want to see him anymore. Now the tears came. GK also remembered the story of the Lundeen family, Mel and Clarice and their eight children. Mel had fallen off the barn and was in the hospital for four months. Christmas was going to be sparse during this time and James was particularly disappointed he wasn't getting a Lionel train set. BUT when dad finally came home just before Christmas, they all learned this was the greatest present. This is a public episode.
