In the fifth episode of our Mini-Series, where we focus on the SMEs joining us on the Catapult Pavilion at RenewableUK's Global Offshore Wind 2023, our host Chris Del Valle is joined by Savannah de Savary from Built-ID.
In this episode of the EG Property Podcast EG editor Samantha McClary is joined by John Davies, head of sustainability at Derwent London, Louise Ellison, head of sustainability at Hammerson and chair of the Better Buildings Partnership, and Savannah de Savary, founder and chief executive of Built ID to talk about renewable energy in real estate. They discuss the journey that real estate is on as it tries to shift towards more renewable energy – both on and offsite - the power that a commitment to clean energy has among the local community and the vital need for occupiers and owners to be united in their approach and commitment to renewables. The conversation also turns to government’s new proposals to help better monitor the operational use of energy in buildings as the greatest leap forward the sector – and everyone - can take in the journey towards a net zero carbon future is to just use less of everything. As with all discussion around sustainability, the conversation goes much deeper than just renewables. And a mild word of warning. This podcast was recorded over Teams and at times the connection is a bit crackly so please bear with us on those few occasions where you may need to lean in just a little more.

Fundraising expert Julia Elliott Brown, the CEO of Enter The Arena talks with Savannah de Savary, CEO and founder of Built-ID, a proptech company which enables collaboration through innovative technology and empowers communities to have a meaningful impact on property development in their neighbourhood. Savannah brought her idea to life by working on the technology platform whilst still being employed full-time. She was just 23 years old when she took the plunge and gave up her employed role. Asking for investment didn’t come easy to Savannah, but she realised it was necessary to ask for what you want and leave your ego at the door. She initially raised around £1.7m through high-net-worth Angels and a specialist proptech VC that enabled the business to get off the ground, before a further equity raise of £2m. In this episode you’ll discover…Why being willing to listen and learn is an underestimated qualityThe real benefits of having a professional coachHow to switch your mentality to thinking not all investors are right for you, rather than you not being the right investeeFor the full video interview, go to http://www.enterthearena.co.uk/Fundraising-Stories/

Savannah de Savary, is one of the most influential PropTech founder. Savannah talks about her journey to Built-ID, an online platform and professional community that connects real estate developers with consultants. As one of the few prominent women in the PropTech world, she shared her views with us on women in PropTech. How does it work: Your profile is your base on Built-ID. It houses your projects, links through to your collaborators, and outlines what your company does. It’s where potential clients, investors and occupiers are directed to when they find you, where they can message you and are kept abreast of your future work. Savannah is working in a real niche area of technology startups, and is trying to influence other girls to explore this industry even further. “We need to do more to make sure women feel welcome in this industry” Throughout 2018 Built ID have reached critical mass, whereby leading consultants in the industry are members of built ID, they are now going to start rolling out their community engagement tool. website: https://www.built-id.com/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/Built_ID Twitter: https://twitter.com/SdeSavary Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/built_id/?hl=en
Hello and welcome to the Centric Cities podcast from the Centric Lab. Some of this material will be familiar with listeners to the Conscious Cities podcast where it was previously hosted. However, we decided to bring things in house to further our intended direction. Centric are all about enhancing user experience in the built environment, one of our main things is mapping out ecosystems and looking for friction and tension points, well that’s what this podcast aims to explore by interviewing professionals working at the coal face of the businesses helping design, build, manage and dream of the cities of tomorrow. Episode 6 was originally recorded in September 2017 where I had the great opportunity to sit down with proptech CEO and founder Savannah de Savary of Built ID. Built-ID is Bringing word-of-mouth insight into the digital age. Built-ID is an online platform and professional community that connects real estate developers with consultants. They’ve had documented over 26,000 projects worldwide by over nearly 1000 member companies. Their aim is to help you discover the people behind your favourite projects and bring the word of mouth referral system into the digital age. One of the great things I like about Built-ID is the transparency it provides in quite a hidden and cloaked industry, it can give new opportunities to people who haven’t been a part of a scene, it’s helping remove favouritism and nepotism, and most importantly, helping great talent be exposed to people seeking great ideas. In the podcast we don’t really go on about the company but more to ask Savannah, as an entrepreneur in a progressive technology related company, about some of her views on the built environment in general. If you have any questions about the show, or even ideas for it please email us at podcast@thecentriclab.com and feel free to give us a follow on Twitter via @TheCentricLab.
