Rep. Eric Swalwell went from being the leading candidate to be the next Governor of California to dropping out of the race and resigning from Congress in less than seven days. What happened? The rumors of misconduct and sexual harassment of staff went from rumors to allegations of sexual assault from a former staffer last Friday. (Which he denied.) That was followed by other women coming forward with similar claims over the weekend, claims ranging from inappropriate pictures and messages sent via Snapchat to the alleged use of "date-rape" drugs, and then topped off with an early-week press conference by yet another accuser. On April 11th, Savanah Hernandez, a journalist working with Turning Point USA, was attempting to film some B-Roll footage when anti-ICE protestors recognized her, a crowd gathered, Paige Ostroushko, a University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point soccer player and psychology major, started blowing a loud whistle directly into her ear (which is assalt at that point, by the letter of the law) and after a brief moment Hernandez made an effort to remove herself from the situation. As Hernandez attempted to leave, some contact was made between Savanah and Paige, which ignited a scuffle between the two, and then Savanah was attacked by Paige's mother and brutally by Paige's father. (Since then, the Ostroushkos have been telling anyone who will listen that they are not violent and that they are the victims. The Port of Baltimore was the 17th busiest port in the nation ranked by total tons in 2021, according to the latest data available from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. It is the fifth largest on the East Coast, outsized by the ports of New York-New Jersey; Virginia; Mobile, Alabama; and Savanah, Georgia. Governor Wes Moore said last year that the port handled a record 52.3 million tons of foreign cargo, worth $80 billion, in 2023. That was a record high.It was the first in terms of the volume of automobiles and light trucks (including 847,158 cars and light trucks),roll on/roll off heavy farm and construction machinery, imported sugar, and imported gypsum, the governor's office said. It was ninth overall as measured by the volume of foreign cargo handled and ninth in terms of the value of foreign cargo., according to Moore. The closure of the port could create serious supply chain disruptions for both consumer goods and industrial imports that go into goods manufactured in the U.S. It's unlikely that all of the lost capacity will be able to be absorbed by the other ports on the Eastern seaboard of the U.S. This raises the danger of additional inflation in the U.S. Inflation has fallen from the very high levels seen in the first two years of the Biden administration but remains elevated by historical standards and above levels the Feder...

Then, two days later Savanah missed her appointment to be induced into labor. She and her boyfriend Matthew were expecting their first child together, a son, named Fabian. Their families reported them missing and a CLEAR alert was issued. Sadly, just 3 days later their bodies were found dead in Matthew's car. Thanks to surveillance footage, San Antonio police detectives were able to determine 3 persons of interest. On January 3rd, 2024, 2 suspects were arrested. 19-year-old Christopher Preciado and his father Ramon Preciado. Then, a week after their arrests, a third arrest was made. Christopher's stepmother, Myrta Romanos was also arrested and charged for her involvement in concealing the murders. More information is expected to come out in the coming weeks.
