November 10, 2015 This week’s episode: “Blessed are They”: St Rose of Lima “Among Women” Guest: María Morera Johnson This episode is one I’ve been waiting for all year! My friend, author and Catholic Weekend host María Morera Johnson, joins me for the Among Women interview. Maria brings some of the stories behind her new book, including how the book got its name: My Badass Book of Saints: Courage Women Who Showed Me How to Live. This is one book that I hope many women will read, and a book I especially hope you’ll put in the hands of someone who may never pick up a book of saints otherwise. In this conversation, my writing buddy and good friend gives us the background on how a word like “badass” got into the book’s title, and her own powerful lessons of how God has helped her — and a variety of saints and impressive women — persevere under trials and hardships! Not only that, Maria talks about her recent pilgrimage to Cuba and her personal meeting with Pope Francis and other church leaders! Maria Johnson meet the Holy Father, Pope Francis, in Cuba. October 2, 2012 This week’s episode: “Blessed are They”: St Teresa of Avila “Among Women” Guest: Maria Johnson This week I welcome a longtime friend of the podcast, and personal friend of mine, Maria Johnson as a guest on Among Women. Maria Johnson is a blogger and the co-host at Catholic Weekend, as well as a member of the Board of Directors at SQPN. Together we talk about something that Christian friends might already do naturally, that is, to pray for one another. But what we specifically stress in this show is that we ought to try to pray with one another with regularity, especially as we move into the Year of Faith. Also, Pat read portions of writings from St. Teresa Avila, one of the doctors of the Church, and a woman who prayed with her Divine Friend, Jesus, in our own lovely way. Since I am still recuperating from bronchitis, I decided to hijack an episode of SQPN's Catholic Weekend (with permission, of course) for you. I had the joy of joining the Catholic Weekend crew two weeks ago, and we talked about food, faith, Mardi Gras, King Cake, oysters, and more! Join us in the fun! I'll be back next week with a full episode talking about the history and tradition of the King Cake during Mardi Gras season. Until then… Bon appetit!
